Overlanding Africa: Botswana | EP 1 | A wet Khama Rhino and Kubu Island Adventure

foreign [Music] guys get ready for the start of an epic Botswana over Landing Adventure [Applause] we met with the team at the Panorama petrol Port we got our com sorted and we set off on a trip that we had no idea just how Wild it would get okay guys we are we are in the car we are okay we are in the car we met up with everybody at I don't even know what that garage is called what is it is the road to the bridge over the highway yeah but it's raining yeah but we're gonna stop in nylstroom okay we're gonna stop in nylstroom on the way to the Botswana border because two of the vehicles have the fridges have already broken so we're just gonna stop there and see if they can fix that because that's not a very good way to start a 10-day trip but anyway we're very excited here we go so just to give you guys an idea of what this trip is about and what the itinerary is so we're going to enter Botswana through the Stockport water post and then our trip is as follows Rhino Sanctuary kubru Island Mound what is it moremi why severity chobi and then from cassani we go back sleep one night at elephant Sands and then we head back home so it's a pretty pretty cool trip of the entire Botswana and we're very excited thank you right so we are in Alice Ras right now we stopped at Boston 4x4 and they quickly sorted the guys with their fridges so that's running now but as soon as we left there the amarok's battery died so you couldn't start so now we're waiting for him to get a new battery so we've been stuck in ellisras for a little bit but we're gonna be in Botswana soon okay foreign we have just crossed through the South African side of the Border we are pretty much officially in Botswana it's still raining so we didn't film a lot of this into action but the Stockport Budapest is amazing and I highly recommend that um you use this border post when you come to Botswana do that welcome [Music] back so we are now from the Stockport border post we're gonna go to I think you pronounce it palapia um that's where we usually stop on the way to Camarino and I think we're just gonna refuel there and then go straight to Camarino and enjoy our first night in Botswana [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] behind the camera this trip because I'm using my R6 to film instead of the GoPro which is the learning curve but it's also quite exciting um we just stopped in palapia at the fruit and veg shop for the food lovers Market yeah bought a couple of things everyone got SIM cards and sorted their daughter and their cell phones and stuff for work and we are heading to call Marano it's 5 23 and they close at 6 so we really hope that we make it and we just realized we don't have any wood so if the shop is closed we're gonna have a very hungry evening and a bunch of grumpy people but um yeah we're very excited to be in Botswana and tomorrow we are heading to where we going Island we're going to Cuba Island which is the first for me again it's been there before but I am super excited especially seeing as I wasn't going to come on this trip for work related reasons and now I'm yeah so we're very very grateful very excited and I really feel like this is going to be a trip of a lifetime so can't wait to take you with us okay hey just awesome is the shop open for wood we made it the gate was still open at carmarina Sanctuary we're gonna go check in quick it's literally 6 Sanctuary we are so excited to be here it's our first night on this trip we're gonna have a good time around the fire and then we're gonna check in with you early tomorrow morning [Music] thank you [Music] foreign from my friend Kenneth to have your kitchen built properly and it's easier everything's got his little place small one goes into that one small lead I mean this goes into the bigger pot let on in the bag and small look how much a little space attacks and again my idea I stole from here so we're all good bud we're all good it's packed up we're gonna take a quick drive through the park but just like one or two roads and then we're making our way to Google Island foreign [Applause] [Music] ER Sanctuary area to show them that they are actually real rhinos yeah and we found one of them but we're a little bit pressed for time so we're done driving yeah [Music] cowboy s are you excited for Google I'm very excited [Music] T are you excited to this is going to be your first time at Cooper Island yay I'm not excited for the dust that I'm hearing so much about no I'm gonna check it out it's gonna be nice yeah okay guys we filled up here at little corny um I think yeah we're gonna almost go off the gravel road on our way to Google Island and we're really excited we are off the Thai road we are on the soundtrack towards scuba Island and the office there at the town just before the road to Cuba Island told us that we should get ready it's a pretty pretty muddy ride pretty that's where we're gonna drive that's pretty cool yourself are you not doing your job okay cupcake stop guys we made it to the pans all our vehicles got some hectic scratches like really really big ones because it is super wet yeah we're a little bit stressed out what this panel is in store for Olden saw you guys from fall and all I want to do is on the radio saying Monday there I did well done all right so we are attacking a little bit we realized as you will see now or as you have seen that it is not really possible and we can't get to the um Island on this what the normal um road that we would have taken um two guys no three guys I think they work for Cooper island or some organization over here they said that they've been assisting people that have been stuck here since Tuesday so today is Saturday so they've been stuck here for you that is man but yeah they've been stuck for four days um we recovered Daryl um I must say props to the chimney the Germany wait the furthest came back no issues at all like a chimney is a little monster but yeah we're taking a deeper now I hope we get to Camp before dark [Applause] [Music] mother come with me you almost five kilometers from Google Island campsite it was a really pretty hectic day traveling to this campsite I think we are gonna have an epic night it was quite hot today so tonight's not going to be cold last night it got quite chilly but yeah still very blessed to be here we are loving every second of it Botswana is always an adventure [Music] oh you're like the sun coming up you make my world come alive [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] epic it was the best fun I've had quieter man foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] is it [Music] as we drive around Kubo Island just to show you the people what it is like so that they can you know imagine they're sitting tonight when they sleep so we're gonna find our campsite set up camp and have an amazing amazing night Kenny from cigar is making dinner tonight and from previous experience he does a heck of a job
