right that one is at the top of his head but katara literally mentioned aang having a lot of energy twisted up around his scar which would be closer to the stomach or heart chakra of anything cutting off my connection to all the cosmic energy in the universe you know what i just heard blah blah spiritual mumbo jumbo blah blah something about space thank you writers for hanging the biggest lampshade ever created on that exposition where did botto's horrible burn that took up his entire arm go you'd think there'd be some scarring left over from that right like zuko scar some of these men aren't exactly the warrior type i guess you take as many benders as you can get so the swamp betters makes sense but why didn't soccer tell them to go get paku in the south or even head up north and look for reinforcements uh maybe there wasn't enough time to get all the way there and back in time i just wish they would wear pants pants are an illusion and so is death weird reference to when hugh said a similar line about time rather than pants time is an illusion and so is death tough this is her when we met him his town was controlled by the fire nation so he had to hide his earth bending good thing toff is here because if they just went on without explaining who heru is i might even forget at this point no way is that people happy to see blind bandit wait so koda was supposed to go and recruit the homies right saka told them to go get their friends from their travels but last time we saw the hippo in the boulder they didn't really leave on the best of terms not that i'm upset about it i love these guys but i'm just saying [Music] oh and then there's this [ __ ] idiot i just happen to pause on the right frame here so behold quantum momo this dude's eyebrows still aren't thrown back yet new glider this is amazing and as a special feature i added a snack compartment mechanist i'm going into battle and i need only your strongest snacks i bet you're tired of being in the cell old man well too bad you're never stepping outside these walls again i'm gonna step outside these walls so [ __ ] hard in a minute breakfast i don't usually mention voice actors for small pirates anymore but this one is kind of a strange one ming is voiced by serena williams the like world renowned tennis player i guess she was just a fan of the show and they gave her a speaking role well i'm a fan too get me in there however serena williams is trying to [ __ ] kill iro in this scene remember that plant that poison iro that was the white jade bush and ming walks in with you guessed it i snuck in some white jt what the hell ming and the fireman's won't have any fire to use so that's good for us and um i'm sorry let me start at the beginning okay so guitar and soccer find and frozen in an iceberg guitar likes and the boulder is confused isn't the point to invade during the eclipse when the fire benders are powerless people come to same conclusion after moment of critical thinking since everyone seems to be sitting in their own little grooth in this shot it seems like the mechanism brought a handful of fighters too it would have been cool to see some new inventions that he had up his sleeve for his people but now well what can you do [Music] this imagery would give general fong some new ideas forget the avatar state we have an armored sky bison i really like aang's new outfit he keeps the pants and boots from his school uniform and he clearly refashioned some of his tattered old clothes into this kind of shirt robe thing i like that they found a way to incorporate his old look into his new look we've been looking everywhere for you the thicker parts on ang staff in the shot are way shorter than pretty much every other shot look your moment of truth isn't going to be in front of some map it's going to be out there on the battlefield i like that ang boost soccer's confidence here just like saka did for rang last episode it really makes this relationship feel like a two-way street and that both guys really care about each other saka also compares himself to his father here which a lot of young guys do which also just feels very natural and plays into later in this episode this is just a quick little scene but it really accomplishes a lot not a second is wasted it's very effective katara you and the swamp benders whip up a fog cover we'll sneak by them statues just like we sneak by that fire navy blockade you figure that's the same blockade that anne crossed twice now probably since it was on the border of the earth kingdom of the fire nation [Music] did you catch it let me play it for you again [Music] the only argument against one of my most classic thoughts katara shouldn't know how to work doors this is a water tribe [ __ ] from her father's fleet and it has a door so one of my favorite avatar dots is very likely false and that's a god damn shame though your original designs were a bit difficult to decipher whoa i finally get to talk about this all you saka invented air balloons and submarines people all right watch this i'm just gonna draw this up really quick just a quick little schematic honestly and now we put that in an email and we send it off to [ __ ] elon musk and boom i invented a space laser if he decides to make a space laser based off that drawing you know he hires the scientists and engineers and people to actually build it it turns out that no actually i invented it because i drew a drawing that's me that's all me baby oh [ __ ] look pipsqueak still has that straight up log he uses as a weapon [ __ ] you gotta stay strapped in these streets no i feel fine trust me it is better that you are not here this afternoon i am gonna tear my way out of this cage like a silverback gorilla on meth and steroids and you do not want to be here for that the duke is washing out his helmet here because toff just threw up in it pretty homey if you duke not gonna lie i told you it's the duke what happens to ang's eyebrows here he gets like weird blue marks the same colors as tattoos we've been through so many things together and i've seen you grow up so much it's true if you go back aang's voices even drop pretty considerably the earth kingdom city of omashi thank you all for being so brave and so strong i'm gonna make this up to you that's just due to the fact that aang was actually voiced by a kid but like it really helps with the whole theme of growing and facing a challenge what if i don't come back aang don't say that of course you'll [Music] i think this moment is really earned these two have been through a lot together just like katara mentioned in this scene there have been a lot of moments where they've shown mutual interest in each other and like it was gonna boil over at some point we get a lot of the perspective on their romance from ang's side but the idea that katara never really showed any interest is totally lost on me i think there's a lot of chemistry and having it all just amount to this one moment where aang reckons with the fact that it could be his last chance to do it feels is climactic the right word for a kiss even if it isn't i feel like this is a really good surprising and well deserved moment it's also interesting that the plan is for aang to go way off ahead on his own to get to the palace way ahead of everyone right like what if something went wrong on his end it's game over and he will probably be a big help on the whole fighting the fire nation thing did they just leave stuff on oppa's saddle for the underwater part of this mission i'm sorry me you're sorry to me what about the painter that did you this dirty zuko he's the one that should be sorry is this a female swamp vendor and thus water bender paku can i get a ruling on this is this all right no ready the torpedo having the torpedoes covered in ice so the propulsion system just comes down to water bending is a super cool idea it's pretty convenient that the fire nation had these underwater grates here that are sized just right to fit the submarines right i really like this little moment of quiet before the battle it's only a few seconds but it gives the view of the impression that the character's feeling that choked up pity your stomach feeling that you get right before you're about to do something really big and important it's like the calm before the storm moment and it really is only a moment here but i really do think it hits the right note it's very interesting that we're only seeing these earth kingdom tanks now like these earth kingdom guys aren't under any official body as far as i know so i'm surprised they have this kind of hardware especially since we didn't see any tanks employed in any other kingdom conflict like the drill for example is this is this truck really necessary the mechanist really brought over a truck to carry rocks onto the battlefield he's like well we'll need to bring rocks for the earthbenders but dad i think they have rocks in the fire nation rocks in the fire nation what are you an idiot like what kind of substance are they standing on right now if not earthen it dawns on me now that the mechanist could have made these tanks but they don't really have his style behind them even his simpler designs seem to have this fire nation tank aesthetic so i still don't know where these earth kingdom tanks came from [Music] yeah this is really satisfying i'm not the biggest fan of the world of the swamp episode but having a thing that you assumed was a one-off thing tied to one part of the world showing up in a different part of the world will always be satisfying i feel like a big problem with soccer being a swordsman now is that just like may or combustion man since it's a kid's show you're never really going to see any real use out of the sword like you're never going to see sakura horribly gore some fire nation guy but i do think they could have given saka a moment here there for a really solid one-on-one sword fight where he definitely disarmed someone or something but we never really get anything like that and i think that's kind of disappointing jesus christ the meteorite must have been made out of some pretty tough stuff to make something that can pull this off [Music] oh god i've been exploded quick let's get you down off this glyph where no fighting is going on down onto the nice safe active battlefield i'll do it no offense saka but you're not exactly mr healing hands no i'll lead the invasion force despite it only being set up in this episode this still feels like a really good setup and payoff for soccer being a leader we've been through the phase of him calling himself a leader thinking he's a leader but much like his moment with being dow he realizes that in the face of his father he's not much of one at all but now he takes the mantle of responsibility like a real leader should in his moment of truth he rises to the occasion just like gang said he would and that's awesome the avatar is back easy to miss this but aang is actually in the home with all the fire lord murals here it's just kind of dark is all yeah okay that didn't work how about one of these okay here's my special move nope they're unstoppable you can see here briefly that the bottom of soccer sword hilt actually has a white lotus decal on it [Music] weird seeing the fire lord's chamber not lit up huh i'm pretty distressed about it too man this episode is really satisfying it's really fun to see a bunch of characters we've met across the whole journey it really makes it seem like every stop they made mattered most of the forces are just nameless soldiers but it's still highlighted by these faces we've seen before and it really makes the fight feel personal for the most part outside of that despite there being some pretty large scale fighting it's basically just a setup episode avatar isn't really about large scale fighting for the most part we're really just looking to get down to the characters meeting up it's still nice to see though it's hard to really feel one way or the other about this one when the next part is such a big part of this two-parter so i'm gonna
