welcome to another edition of michael's kitchen today we are going to be making my favorite brisket it is amazing it is delicious and it is so easy to make you will see a few simple ingredients and you will have the meal of your life okay we're gonna get started we're gonna show you how to do it let's go okay so like i said we're only going to be having a few simple ingredients you know the idea here is not to over season the meat because the meat is delicious in itself right so you want to just give a few little simple spices to give it some flavor uh but otherwise you want the meat to do the work right you don't want to over you know season the meat so just to show we have a few simple ingredients we have some salt we have some black pepper with some herbs uh like parsley leaves and coriander leaves a little bit make like a mixed herb spice over there again you don't have to use that you can just use black pepper i've tried it before with black pepper and it's good enough i have some olive oil and i have some honey and i have um onion mix onion soup mix that i use and i just kind of use that to flavor a little bit on top and then for the uh for the sauce but let me just let me show you how again so i'll take some salt i think this is about a teaspoon or so salt i'm just going to give it a nice rub on top we want to make sure that the meat is nicely salted okay we're going to mix that in soon and then use our rub i kind of like to like drizzle over it [Music] so let's give it a nice drizzle on top we want to cover the meat with it smells so good it's really really good [Music] okay so we're gonna cover it nicely nice generous because this is really gonna give it flavor okay again be very generous on your rub we're going to do here is take i have about a teaspoon tablespoon of olive oil okay and we're going to drizzle that on top of it okay so we're just going to give it a nice drizzle and again i like to use my hands and just give it again the meat is your friend right give it a nice rub take care of it and it will take care of you and then what i do now for the sweetness is i just drizzled some honey again about another teaspoon or so of some honey and i kind of drizzle it over the top and it just gives it that nice sweet flavor when the honey is kind of baked in the oven with the meat also gives it a smoky flavor at the end of it okay so i kind of drizzle it on top that's pretty good and before i go ahead and use i'm going to use one more secret ingredient which i'm going to show you in a minute so i said the secret ingredient i'm just going to jump right into it what is it beer so the beer actually does wonders to the actual drink okay to the actual meal i should say well let's see that's pretty good all right so we're just going to actually go ahead and use this as the base of our sauce don't be afraid okay you don't have to use a whole bottle i can actually use about a half a bottle okay but actually i might just use the whole bottle there we go the whole bottle all right and for the last ingredient i use this onion soup mix okay uh it's from osem i use the onion soup mix you can find it in your supermarket and i just very generously pour it into the edges first of all so you want to season the and then i start to go over the top a little bit okay so how much exactly i don't know maybe two three tablespoons of onion soup mix all right now the trick is is we really want to get a good covering here so i generally wrap the meat twice all right so i'll give it an initial covering of foil okay and generally i'll go ahead and give it another secure because what we don't want to happen is really we're trying to avoid it opening up because it's going to get hot it's going to expand in the oven we want to try to keep it as close as possible and the heat will make it more moist okay keeping it close you want to keep that moisture inside and have it avoid going out so a double wrap generally helps okay i've preheated the oven to 160 degrees all right and we can go ahead and put that into the oven and we want a long cook time all right so it's at 160 degrees uh fahrenheit i'm gonna set my timer let's do that for two and a half hours we might give it some more time after that but we're just gonna set it for two and a half hours and we will see you in two and a half hours so we are two and a half hours done and you can see that the bubble wrap really stayed stayed in it's very hot i'm trying to slowly open this up and you'll probably see the steam just pour out of there you can see it coming out right now there it is really coming out that is it look at that that is good soft brisket it's delicious all right so here's our brisket i'm just gonna slice it in you can see it just slices right through so soft look at that i mean it's really falling apart so this is kind of what you're looking for right it's juicy it's tender and that's what you're looking for and that's how you make a brisket we'll see you next episode
