Out Of The Area Repo That Requires Split Second Timing For Perfect Execution - 09/16/2014

okay so we are out here in tooele utah for an o2 white chevy tahoe i contacted will because he actually lives out in this area and asked him if he would go by and spot the address for me and he went by the first time said there was a closed garage no sign of the vehicle there was a fifth wheel out front and the second time he went by he said the vehicle is there it's in the garage garage is open and so after a few days of him checking the address two or three times day and night got a good well-rounded profile of when they are coming and going and they seem to leave the garage open quite regularly and will indicated that the the wife looks like she's driving the vehicle he said she does take the kids to school in the morning picks them up around 3 30 in the afternoon brings them home so he said if you time it just after that you know early late afternoon early evening he goes that's every time i've gone by at that time he says the garage has been open and the vehicle has been sitting there i actually had a key made for this tahoe the first time it came up for repossession uh but before we got a chance to come out here and execute the repo the finance company called and canceled the order and that's one of the reasons why i didn't just shoot out here the second time is because of how quickly it got closed the first time these people don't know a whole lot left on this loan and their monthly payments really small and so they're now you know tomorrow there'll be a full three months behind on their payments and for some reason when people have really small payments you would think that they'd be easy to make and therefore they would never miss them when in fact it's actually the opposite it's they become complacent about the fact that it's not a whole lot of money therefore the finance company's not gonna do anything crazy like repossess me uh you know i asked the finance officer i said you know what happens when you call him he says he answers and he just hangs up on me i was like so you identify who you are and he's like yeah every time and he says identify who i am he hangs up and now he doesn't even answer the phone because he knows the number so i mean the guy's just pushing the finance officer into a corner and not giving him any other options and he really doesn't want us to pick this vehicle up and take it all the way back to utah county from this far out we're about an hour away from our call area about an hour 10 minutes you know he'd rather we picked it up then come out oh we got the money you know call on the phone make a payment we put it back down we get paid we get to go back home empty would be the ideal scenario but uh you never just never know what these accounts which way they're going to go so first off i'm hoping that the garage will be open if it's not that i'm going to be sitting for a while waiting for it to open i got my key ring full of all my try out keys from different chevys that we've collected over the years [Music] and uh one of these is the actual key for the vehicle i don't know which one it is but i do know for a fact i have a key cut exactly for that vehicle if the scenario doesn't call for me to back up the driveway and hook the vehicle for whatever reason i may walk up and just walk in there and uh get inside of a quietly and real quickly go through the tryout keys until i find the one that fits the vehicle and just drive it out and drive it down the street so we'll see which way it goes plus you never know i can get it in the their keys could be in it i've had that happen a million times i mean you hate to go up there and hope their keys are in there but since i do have the key on here somewhere uh that's the first thing i'll do is i'll jump in there you know if i do decide to go that route and i'll look to see if their keys have to be in there first because if their keys are in there you know those ones work white fuss through all these when the key is right there but uh yeah we'll be here in about two minutes scope the scenario out and see whether we're doing a repo right away or in a while all right so the vehicle was not visible at the given address doesn't mean it's not there it just means the garage is closed and it wasn't out front so more than likely it's in the garage i ran right up the street here to the nearest shopping district and just kind of ran through the grocery store area because this is around that time of the day it's about almost 5am 5pm and so you get a lot of people to go shopping this time of the day from what we understand they come and go a lot from that address the way this the streets laid out it's not the ideal setup to be able to park up the street um and watch the house the house is on a bend and if we're on that end of the bend uh there's kind of a blind spot to the garage and if the vehicle comes by us they're gonna obviously see a tow truck sitting on their street um that's not gonna do so much good uh catching them you know going home so you're gonna go home and go right into the garage and catch them leaving from the house then we've gotta try to follow them you know in a tow truck and that doesn't always pan out too well we want to try to keep the element of surprise as long as possible on a situation like this where i'm out of the area and i've got really one shot at doing this clean and so we're gonna go back over here to the uh give an address and do one more drive by get a feel for what what's going on at the house it still looks exactly the same garage closed nobody out front nothing happening uh nothing else out in this town to be doing will's not available right now because he's uh working his second job over at the army base so i'm just gonna have to kind of chill out and see how this goes house is right on the left side of this bend i can see the fifth wheel you can see us i'm trying to limit as many times let me drive by right on that bed right there there's the front of the fifth wheel right there somebody out front pruning trees in the front yard i don't definitely don't want to drive by right now any other option i have on this assignment is to just pull up make contact tell them look go all the way out here from utah county your garage has been up i'd be repossessing your vehicle right now you know they told me the situation they told me how much you guys oh it's not very much they've had calling you and you just keep hanging up on them you're really just making poor choices right now and i'm here to tell you that uh you're on a path to losing your vehicle and spending a lot of money you don't need to spend and the guy will you know obviously be like okay i'll take care of it whatever and uh you know then we'll be done with it when we just get paid what's all uh an attempt fee coming out and not doing anything other than knocking on the door and getting them to call in and make a payment but there's also the possibility the person says screw you and i just i'm not gonna make the payment right now we don't have it whatever and now they know that someone's trying to repossess the vehicle and they stop making it easily accessible like they have been and our opportunity to collect the collateral diminishes greatly so you know you have to weigh all your options and look at the person the account the whole scenario and decide what's the best course of action uh you also want to look for the quickest course of action not waste a bunch of time on an account that's you know gonna end up not being a repo anyways i got a pretty strong suspicion this one's going to be a repo so that's why i haven't done contact yet but now parked just around the corner from the person that's pruning the trees and i think i'm going to go for a little walk and it better lay the land on foot got nothing else to do got a uh card today for shanda from one of our youtube subscribers sent it over and says shanda i pray for you every day stay strong beautiful cards got a little girl angel wings on the front i got an email from them today asking if shanna's received the card yet she'll uh she'll get it tonight when i get home from working so yes it was received and thank you very much lots of love guys lots of love all right let's go see what we can figure out on this tahoe i'm gonna take my keys with me just in case the opportunity presents itself to be able to walk up and drive it away okay it looks like it's the wife out front doing the pruning the garage is open the tahoe is in there she's sitting in such a way that she can see the garage door though so there's no way for me to walk up and get up in there as i walk all the way past the house across the street come through the neighbors go around the back side of the fifth wheel even then where she's sitting she's right behind that garbage can right there i think she'd still be able to see me walk into the garage i think our best bet is going to be to use the truck just pull up and drop the boom back up and hook it she's going to come walking up and be like what the heck i'll just hook it and pull it out a little ways and so we're out of the garage and then there'll be obviously be contact right away still it's right at five o'clock and the finance officer is there till 5 30 so if they've got the money they can make the payment we'll get paid a full repo fee so here we go so she's walking in the house she glanced at me but i don't think she realized before she sees what i'm doing yeah she walked in the house doesn't even know we have the tahoe yet the wheels are turning obviously because it's a chevy i'm gonna pull here into the street now she's probably gonna come out and see that her tahoe's missing and come over and talk to me i'm sure [Music] pay that please don't tell you because i can't get clear to logan to pay him if you do well if you contact them and then they contact us and say you're good to go then we'll put it back down like right now oh yeah do you know their numbers uh 801 oh the manager i think is there his name [Music] okay [Music] [Applause] yeah their keys the ignition set it right there like i said we've got a key already for it so not quite as critical and based on the way she's acting and what she's doing her behavior i know that we're all going to be leaving this here i'm going to get to where we're not all cali wampus in the middle of the road like this i'm just gonna straighten out so i'm not in the middle of the one road i always tell guys make sure you communicate with people let them know what you're doing just a little bit of communication can go a long way and keep people to freak out or do things that aren't necessarily beneficial to keeping the peace so just a simple hey i'm going to do this it lets people know that they're not just driving away because someone freaks out and also jumps on the vehicle because they think you're leaving you don't want to do that cause them to make a decision like that she knows i'm just straightening out she's not gonna freak out but at the same time i've got a job to do and i need to clear this road let traffic go by so we'll get over here to the side now we've got the wheel secured and hopefully she can get all the finance officer i gotta do what i'm doing right now kind of gingerly because this thing is not strapped to my truck right now gives them a nice warm fuzzy feeling that everything's okay when you kind of pull back up in front of their house and just kind of sit there and wait keeps a good scene control but you don't want to block the driveway just like that do you know what time they close because it keeps going to voicemail it's 5 11 and i know they're usually there to at least 5 30. let me uh try an after-hours number and see if maybe he's just not here give you the payment um we don't collect payments but let me see what i can do for you here real quick i would appreciate it because my husband is in nevada and i have no other car to get my kids or i understand let me uh let me see i can get a hold of her what's your first name shannon shannon okay hey hey uh hey are you still in the office i'm sorry what'd you say okay yeah if you can head over there real quick i've got uh shannon here i've got her tahoe pulled out onto the street and she wants to make a payment oh yeah over the phone no or if i'd give you cash it would be better because i don't have any on my on my card right now yeah we're not really set up to be able to do that i don't have like a ability to give you any kind of a receipt or anything like that and so it's just kind of a liability thing i mean it's it's easier if you can work something out over the phone with them um do you have like stuff for someone nearby that has a credit card but you could give them the cash and they could do it over the phone because you know it's the only way i can leave the vehicles if you're able to give them a check i can't take anything i could that's is that no way to avoid a document will they take a check i don't know if you take a check over the phone yeah yeah you can take a check of the phone yeah routing an account number which would be on the bottom of your check the maker numbers you just read those off to him and he can do it no to him on the phone he's he's heading back to the office right now so just should i call there again uh when we how how long until you can answer the phone at the office okay five minutes call that number and he'll answer and then he'll take care of you on the phone so you guys can work out i'm gonna kill myself she's gonna she's gonna call you at the 224 at the at the main office over here the 224 number okay okay yeah just call him at that number in about five minutes he just we just caught him at the light he's flipping around right now and going back all right so we got a whole finance officer he's usually there until 5 30. it's 5 15 right now it's a monday you know if it's slow they'll go home i mean i think in the business it's 5 o'clock for most finance companies we do have a couple of credit unions at stage 06 and even 6 30 they have drive-throughs that are open and their collections department stays until all the branches are closed for this exact reason you know they're told hey you've got until this time on friday then through the weekend we're looking for them and then boom we track them down you always get people that want to make a last-minute payment end of the day on monday friday wasn't good enough they had to wait through the weekend and push it way past the what they should have here you go oh i got a drink thank you i appreciate it oh okay uh thank you oh my god if you'd have taken off with my purse i would have been so it's i hate when you know that's one of the worst parts about this job is i mean we've got to do what we've got to do with the vehicle but when there's personal items car seats cell phone chargers purses i get you know medications it's like seeing the bad thing is what this is is my son totaled his car that he had a loan on through these people okay and he didn't have the money to do it so we gave him the title to my car to secure the loan what kind of car did he total it's a it was an old saturn like a 90 was he what was he you know when it crashed oh yeah did he get it scratched by the seatbelt wow but that's what we did is swapped out the title how come insurance didn't just pay off the loan because he let it oh man they're not supposed to know that but i was like nothing you can do about it at that point i mean you're you're behind the whole thing at that point there's no insurance and you gotta alone it's so that's what we did is gave him the title on my car but we're never here my husband works in nevada oh okay so i didn't know that they that we were do you know how far behind we are to get this going on tomorrow will be 90 days oh is that yeah i think the payments are only like 80. they're small even less than less than that are they just barely over 75. oh are they like 76 and some change that's why i was like i said the advantage of like have you tried calling them and he's like every time i call him he just answers and hangs up on me and i'm like why would someone do this number maybe still or uh the number he's calling would be the same number they gave us which is the three 801 i don't even know i guess i'd probably better get it right let's update a little bit of info what's the best number of contact on this account is mine which is yeah we find that most of the time just a little bit of breakdown communication can cause a lot of these to happen yeah i mean i looked out and i thought oh my god is that my car i know you don't ever expect to see your vehicle rolling out of your driveway like that it's a shock i'm sure and then panic mode sets in because i'm the only person here with a car sure no i totally get it yeah we operate a little bit different than most recovery companies we don't just i mean i i mean i always like to get out get on the street pull over secure everything and then i go up and i knock on the door and say hey you know we just took your you take your vehicle and you know is there anything you need to get out of it you know most of the time it's car seats and things like that especially in like suvs like this but it's not like you have older kids if they're driving yeah yeah but yeah i've got one that's that's 12 but the other two are grown so plus your neighborhood and your house don't match the typical mo for this kind of stuff and so it makes us go let's go there's a mismatch here i'm not paying seven times something going on here you gotta have almost a forty thousand dollar fifth wheel in the driveway i'm like there's something i miss here it's got you know and so i i usually pull over and like to give people an opportunity i mean i hate me to haul this thing all the way back to provo you know i'm glad you did because boy i would have been an agent brandon yeah can't do much with the fifth wheel he should be back in the office now waiting for your phone call hi danny hi how are you good sure he just this guy just barely put it in the better number do you want me to give it to you too or okay it's eight i don't even know what number that one that he had in there is okay all of those every single one of those are bad except for the one that ends in zero that's my home phone number but we're not home a lot and it doesn't have an answering machine so the best one to call is my cell phone that i that i just gave you and this guy yeah yeah sure hold on hello yep just the repo fee okay okay okay okay okay how much would it be now you're going to do a check right is it going to be round right now because what my issue is i'm standing here holding cash sure just one sec hello yep okay okay sure okay yeah if that's what you want to do all uh how do you want me to document it okay yep here you go okay okay sounds good all right so they've worked out arrangements that are satisfactory to the finance company so we're gonna go ahead and lower it up right here on the road i'll just take control of her key and once he says i can go ahead and put it back in the garage i will do so oh looks like she grabbed her key that you were just on the phone with it's called yeah one word uh financed finance oh that is a gorgeous motorcycle so what does he you said he's in what state he works in battle mountain nevada so he drives like a work vehicle out there that makes traveling a little easier yeah do you guys used to have a white yukon okay hey it's just interesting i did a google street view of the address before driving out here and there's a white yukon that looks exactly like that in google street view sitting in the driveway here and that fifth wheel sitting there are you sure it wasn't that positive go google street view your own address and go look it'll crack you up the same fifth wheel but not that tahoe it's a white yukon isn't that weird it must have been somebody visiting that day so that your garage is open there's nothing else in the garage that's it exactly where it's sitting but there's a white uconn with custom white or chrome rims sitting in the driveway i'm like are you sure this isn't a yukon and not a tahoe they're like no this is a tall home like send me over the title so i can i'm like what are the odds i'm like what you know so i thought i'd ask when i came out here if you guys happen to used to own a yukon in the bottom tahoe but that makes it even stranger the pictures from back in 2012 were you guys here then yeah someone just visiting stopping in dropping a kid off or something random but yeah you have to go google street view and look at it and then you know i guess just make sure you guys can call them or take care of whatever you can that's that's probably a good idea and i don't have to worry about it but thanks for stopping oh yeah sorry sorry i gave you a scare yeah well that's okay i'm just glad it's done okay and you grabbed your keys off the center console yeah okay cool you're gonna pull it back in the garage yeah all right have a good day oh yeah in a line of work where we have to do what we have to do a lot of difficult calls to make and you just always want to make sure that you cover all your bases and that you can always stand behind every decision that you make and that you make the right call the majority of the time and there's gonna be times when you're like i could have done that differently or like this would have been different or that would have been different but ultimately the better you get at a job like this the more time you spend in the field making those decisions and then seeing the recourse of them you can kind of almost predict the way things are going to go based on certain uh aspects of your surroundings and stuff you see in the account and just general you know feel of the whole situation and you know in this case here like it's all heard you know you guys don't fit the standard ammo this neighborhood your house you know your expensive fifth wheel they got a nice harley in the garage she's out front gardening leaving the garage up you know my spotter's gone by four or five times over the weekend and said they're not making any kind of obvious gestures to keep the vehicle hidden or obey you know and so all kinds of indicators before even getting out here telling me that this just isn't our typical repo and so i know to approach it as such and it worked out well you know she came out she was cool she wanted to take care of the payment right there i get to drive all the way back to utah county without you know having to haul her vehicle back down there saves me i'm wearing tear on the truck and the lift and the tires and the engine and you know it's just anytime we don't have to tow a vehicle it's just that much much better you're gonna get paid the same thing for hauling it all the way back to my yard or leaving it in their driveway and the most important thing is the account remains intact as soon as we leave with the vehicle and we're gone with it it's never the same for people it's no matter what you say or how much you try to minimize uh and mitigate why we're out there fact is if we leave the vehicle complete repossession and they're deprived of that vehicle especially hurt someone like with her situation when she's got you know anybody situated i've never had someone be like hey this is the perfect time for you to be taking my vehicle i just didn't need it for the next four days so you know what go ahead it's yours i don't think i've ever heard those words before in my career it's always you know i've got a medical needs i was the only one with a vehicle here i've got an emergency i need to go to the airport and pick up my you know this is the one time they're flying in and you know it's always the worst time for us to be coming and taking the vehicle and that's just how life is everybody needs their wheels to get around in this day and age and so now another what i would call successful non-repo because again we're still making money doing what we need to do running a business getting results for the finance companies but ultimately uh being able to leave those people intact with their uh collateral and so that they can continue on with their loan i mean these guys their payments so small every month there's no reason for it to be like this and these guys just need to snap to it and get their finances in order because there's no excuse to be having us come out and pick up their vehicle for less than 100 bucks a month it really isn't so get on to the next thing keep knocking them down hopefully the rest of the night's as smooth [Music] is [Music] apologized oh
