Terrible day for the National Guard, led both the Indy 500 and Coke 600 into the final turn and lost both races
Being there live was so surreal.
Ever seen 100,000 people experience an instant hangover at the exact same time?
Iβll never forget this day. My dad and I went to the Indy 500, where the National Guard car wrecked out of the lead on the last lap, in the last corner, and we got home just in time to see the other National Guard car lose the lead on the last lap, in the last corner.
As a longtime Harvick fan, I'm not sure whether this or '07 is the more "awkward" win to be on the other side of.
While almost everyone's heartbroken over how this ended, I'm just lowkey smirking over here.
National Guardβs biggest defeat. God that day was rough for them
Well I WAS having a good day until now.
This was definitely one of rougher ones as a Jr. fan during the 4 year winless streak.
I remember thinking and still do, that DW and NASCAR were being awfully liberal on the caution and DW was nauseating with his Jr cheerleading. But now, man, that would have been a cool win for Jr to get and I wish it had turned out.
As a lifelong Dale Jr fan heartbroken would be an understatement. Earlier that year Jr was leading at Martinsville with a handful of laps left and Harvick beat him so needless to say I wasnβt the biggest Harvick fan. Wouldβve broken a 3 year winless streak
