Is it just me or is this not in HD? If you go to this youtuber channel named "full NASCAR races" that 2004 Daytona 500 is actually in HD. Unfortunately it's not the full race though. It's the one NBC aired back in 2015 and they chopped it down to a hour and a half. I don't understand why these races from 2004 and after aren't in HD because that's when HD actually became available.
Although lots of people are biased since Junior won the race, I think this is one of the most underrated 500s for a different reason.
To me, there's something about those long, no BS green flag runs, where the field gets all strung out and you really gotta be on your A-game in all aspects to stay up front.
And then there's the late pass for the win that Junior performed. Did anyone see that video Junior shared of how he needed to set up Stewart to make that pass?? That throttle control? How he specifically backed off to get that run? Vintage plate racing talent.
I miss plate races like this. You needed a car that could handle, a good driver, and good pit stops to contend for the win. Modern plate racing no doubt takes skill to stay in the lead but I canβt wait for the surfaces and Dega and Daytona to start wearing down again.
One of the best Daytona 500 races ever. That celebration still gives me chills along with Bestwick's great call.
I just love, and miss this commentary presentation here. It legit feels like a conversation at your friends house without the cursing. No yelling if it isnβt necessary. Just normal speaking voice until something exciting happens.
I can see this race happening today, everyone would complain itβs so boring.
Also I forgot about Johnny Sauter nearly wiping out the field going into the pits.
Dale Jr almost swept Speedweeks that year and in 2003 but just missed it by one race in both of those years.
LOL, people were so excited about this, until they realized it's the quality of a potato, and the same quality of the previous uploads (excluding the HD shortened version).
Looked better in person than this. But, for real this is no better than any other yt version. Not worth the hype.
