Nio ES8 headlights test

yo what's up we are now sitting in the neo es8 and today i'm going to show the headlights so let's go it has no adaptive headlights no matrix stuff it's just uh high beam and low beam okay i tried them earlier today during one thousand kilometer challenge but i didn't get the right impression of it um let me see i think the low beam spread could have been slightly better like left and right side here i feel like it could be stronger but i guess it's not bad well the high beam has has good spread but uh maybe i'm missing some more more defined or or maybe stronger but let's see let's see now the whole test now we have to take it on the whole test now but wow this car is just so nice and soft to drive a comfy but that's a different story i should talk more about that in in the driving impression video today is all about focusing on on not hitting the hedgehog yeah but on the headlights okay let's see now so we drive through this section if you guys don't know the camera i'm using is canon hfg60 with one inch sensor so it's it's pretty light sensitive oh look at that okay that is this is actually one of the that actually okay yeah i take it this is the best chinese headlights i've seen other chinese cars they don't have nearly as good headlights let's try a little bit okay let's try now twisty road oh yeah okay you're missing yeah yeah you're missing that cornering but again yeah yeah so you see in the in the left when we corner we we are kind of in the blind but at least for straight roads we have um good distribution let's see now okay this section here yeah look well i like the strength of the high beam yeah it's it's it's pretty strong see okay i'd say this is quite good actually i didn't get the right impression when i draw it through the to the swedish uh motorways at dark but um you see we have to try that's that's why i'm driving the exact same route with every car but on the other hand we have some clouds that could contribute to some you see it's like but it is dark oh okay some cornering lights okay but it is dark you see without the headlights you don't see sheet in front of you and then boom okay um i'd say it's this is very good yeah yeah okay after looking at our voila let's see now this is very good headlights however i i still feel like tesla's headlights are one notch stronger and wider oh there's the oncoming car and also the pole star lights are stronger well i know now recently yeah giga berlin car model wise will get real matrix headlights that you can program and all that's awesome but okay anyway back to this car because i know people are gonna mention it in the video but oh this is this is good yeah this is definitely good good spread let me see low beam trilobeam yeah yeah i still feel like maybe low beam at least on the right side could be a little bit uh stronger and slightly taller as you can see more like right now you can't it could be hard to see animals inside of the road okay let's use high beam but with this one at least high beam here has extra strength on the on the right side which is good so you can spot animals well actually both sides but uh yeah this is um this is good you know i noticed something when when you when you turn on high beam i noticed that the big signs by the motorway they reflected into my face kind of like oh but i feel like this headlight these headlights have been concentrated slightly more towards center more like american headlights maybe and or maybe some other asian cars i don't remember which car it was um but not so wide like european headlights tends to be maybe because we have more twisty roads i don't know okay but let's see now but okay we're gonna try that farm again okay we're gonna do that farm to see how the distribution is on the farm eventually when i move over to uh yes him i have to find another spot because that it will be too far away to drive over here just to do the light test but i think i yeah i think there are some other spots yes him i could use uh so i have to actually redo or change the location of the modern money on my tests uh okay anyway oh there's a car coming behind okay let's this is the first time i will actually pull over here and wait for the car behind because um i kind of need to slow poke uh with uh yeah okay okay see here i want to go over here all right let's see now let's check the distribution of this this hill whoa here you see oh nice and strong it's it doesn't have that defined line like uh yeah but you see you can see it that it's very well um it's well um centered very focused on the center but not too much of this i mean it yeah i wish i wish it but had a little bit more on the side okay well enough now let's not bother the guys oh okay okay it's a big car so you have to do a three-point turn here yeah yeah turning circle is not the best but it's a freaking humongous car es8 uh and anyway let's see now so um at least this car doesn't have a fake v8 sound when you're driving slow like this isn't it let me go see the speed drop below yeah below 25 kilometers per hour you get the the vests yeah some other uh chinese car whatever expect x bank then you get this fake v8 or v6 [Music] okay let's go okay but let's say no so we i yeah they are not adaptive these headlights they they don't turn they don't do any matrix action so it's just on and off i guess you can yeah they have the automatic auto blending out it's just on and off still but uh yeah how would i rank these headlights they are definitely better than the ioniq 5 i tested recently these ones they they have better spread also quite concentrated in the middle but again i wish it was a little bit stronger to the side like like here you see you kind of yeah yeah yeah okay let's just keep driving uh let's go a little bit faster maybe uh this video is gonna be too long but uh let's go a little bit faster you see here but we we do light up the trees quite well and also potential animals on the side of people but usually at night it's more like we're more concerned about animals raving around here not people i would actually be scared if there was a guy walking around running around suddenly into the road you know you'd never know what i did last summer okay anyway let's uh yeah yeah see that's good spread um yeah i like it actually this is kind of crazy because people in the live stream were able to spot that these headlights were great i didn't look that closely maybe because i was busy doing one thousand kilometer challenge earlier tonight uh but even they claimed through the through the camera of the live stream that these headlights were good so yeah but again i i feel like okay let's just uh check check at this point you see we go downhill here and then you see we're always kind of semi in the dark uh and then we see that over there oh what is that okay it's just some stuff okay not animal or anything okay and then we go over here and then we have the twisty parts here which of course many people want the headlights to turn but these ones doesn't do it so okay for twisty roads like this then you are kind of in the dark but this is really good stuff um yeah i would rank it right below when when it comes to strength and wideness i'd rank it right below tesla and um and ide3 id4 and also pole star i still consider poles are the best because they are adaptive and all that stuff and they rotate and stuff but tesla also shines strong white wide but this one still really good like yeah this is good stuff um and for example compared to mercedes um what i must say this was um it's been a while ago and you could see lights also strong lights um but a little bit laggy i remember in the in the adaptive department but definitely good this is really good i actually didn't expect these the this great headlights for a chinese car because what i've seen yeah from what i've seen in general uh um asian cars like chinese nissan hyundai kia they don't have that great headlight it's mostly western cars european cars primarily and then like like uh american cars also doesn't have that great headlights or or mac e is more centered towards middle mac he was was not that great tesla has generally been also kind of bad but then recently they tried to make it better and yeah that's why i keep mentioning tesla also but definitely good really good
