hey guys welcome back to my channel for another video today we're going to be preparing another thing um for our upcoming homeschool year a video that you guys have asked me to share again and again is the homeschool binders that i make for my kids what i put in them how i set them up what we use them for and so i'm going to share all of that good stuff in today's video so if you've been enjoying all of the preparation videos that i've been sharing as we gear up for our next homeschool year give me a thumbs up right now on this video i do want to let you guys know that all of the printables you're going to see are from my website directly and i will have a sale code posted down in the description box so if you see anything you want to grab for your kids or um or or whatever the case might be for yourself um then that discount code will be down there it'll be valid for a certain date range which i will specify down below in the description box so just wanted to let you guys know that a lot of what you're gonna see in these homeschool binders is from my website it's kind of like i used to hand write all of this stuff or just type it up on my computer on a spreadsheet and then i thought if i like having things like this for my kids then you guys probably will too hence why i created my website and have these pdfs on there so i have everything strong about my counter um but we're just gonna get started and then i will show you guys a flip through of everything that is inside the binder and kind of explain how i use it so i have all of the things that i printed off that are going in the binders right now anyway obviously we fill them up as the school year goes so i have all of that there i have this is actually my homeschool mom binder that i keep for myself [Music] so in here i just keep things like records or important things that i need to keep so the high school transcript pages that i just created which are on my website will be going in my binder so i have my three hole puncher a pen and then i have four binders um usually i get the one inch this year i got the two inch i got four new ones and then i got a package of 50 page protectors because some things i like to put in these um so yeah that's pretty much it so now i'm going to just open up a binder and start filling it up for each child and then i will show you guys everything that's in there and how i use [Music] them [Music] do you miss me at all do you think about the things we used to do no you couldn't stand so one thing that i do um each school year as we prepare is uh reassess my kids chores so i created these chore charts and mine i i forgot to click like print full size and i didn't care that much but just so you guys know if you purchase it you're gonna get your full letters at the top um so it's listed in a monthly format if you wanted to reevaluate every month i stick with the same chores for the whole school year just because we keep things simple around here so i'm gonna sit down and figure out you know which chores we're sticking with on what days and which ones need adding and then that definitely goes in the homeschool binder as well all right you guys the binders are all filled with what i'm going to fill them with to start the school year they obviously will accumulate more things in the binder as the year progresses um but i'm gonna start with my homeschool mom binder this is something that i only started keeping a year or two ago just with having older kids um and just needing to record keep a little bit better for the sake of just wanting to do that for my home school i'm not required by my state to do it but i prefer to have everything organized big surprise um so the first thing on the left um is that you're gonna see just some like little note papers that i have some high school classes my daughter and son already took so just some things over there this is a new thing that i did this year and i just made this on my computer um because we are just going to be juggling a few more things than usual and so for the first time ever i felt it was necessary to kind of create a weekly family learning schedule so this is specific to like our morning basket um morning cart time this is not my kids individual stuff so you can see that monday through friday we start with bible time mondays we do a read aloud tuesdays we do a history lesson wednesdays we do a read aloud thursday's history lesson friday's the catch-all read-aloud time on mondays after the read aloud i'm gonna go into my logic lesson with my oldest two on tuesdays i'm gonna move on to my history read aloud so you guys can see um that i've just organized the time i have science with my younger two here and science here so this is how i am able to go through so many different things is by basically creating schedules like this in the past i was able to just mentally do it but this year i just wanted to get it down onto paper i'm very much a pen and paper girl which you will see and then this year i'm assigning a different lunch day to everyone so my lunch day is mondays and then the rest of the week the kids will be making lunch for everyone so that is like a life skill that we're focusing on is just cooking more cleaning more like getting better at doing those things um the next thing that i have here is my high school record-keeping sheet for my oldest daughter these are all of the classes she's taking this year yes that is eight um when you're homeschooled you can take more than usual um so she is i'm have this to record the grades and just keep track of what classes she's taken toward graduation um this is an attendance record sheet i don't have to keep attendance but i printed it out to show you guys if any of you do have to submit attendance this is available on my website and you can use the coupon very simple and you can just print out 12 copies or nine copies depending on how many months of the year you school next in my homeschool mom binder i have my son who is going into the eighth grade he took a high school math class last year so i have that recorded down for him next i have my reading log where i will fill in all of the read-alouds we've done as a family and just keep track of them this is what i use at the end of the school year to give you guys my book reviews so um this will this thing i wouldn't remember any of the books i read if i didn't write them all down um my homeschool year roadmap i'm still praying over that uh gonna get that all filled in i do know my word of the year which you can see right there and i do have my start date so this kind of is just it helps you narrow down your focus if you've got like a broad vision for your home school and you have you're like how do i bring that into fruition that's why i created this and then i have sheets for recording curriculum down and then quarter one goal setting sheets i have four of these in here i will fill them out um every quarter when we start a new quarter of the school year obviously quarter one is still a bit a ways away from when we are starting but i know that establishing routines and gaining new rhythms will be at the top of the goal priority list and then i do know that i do want to do a field trip dedicated to the geology unit that we're doing um and so i'll be filling this more in as we get through the summer but i just wanted to show you guys that i do keep all four of those in there and all of those printables that you just saw are available on my website and they're on sale now the next thing i have in my homeschool mom binder is this notebook it was a spiral notebook but there's only one page left in it now and this is very sentimental to me because i wrote down why i wanted to homeschool when i was terrified and very first taking my kids out of public school um about six seven years ago and i saved it because i always want to be able to look back on that and so i have that one lone page in that notebook that i just saved there forever these are just a few extra little folders that i had and then olivia wrote me some really sweet notes on our last day of school last year and so i put them in there um just to you know remind me on the tough days that at least one of my kids thinks i'm doing a good job um over here are my kids binders now these are pretty much all identical so i am not going to show you all of them because that would be very repetitive however there are four here and i do have a page on the front for each of them now i will do a whole sit down video for you guys where i go over um our schedule like the schedule i'm planning five days times um how i'm taking breaks this year what my kids chores are this year to give you guys ideas so i will do that but i just wanted to do the dedicated binder video because i've been asked about this a bunch um so the first page you're gonna see i told you guys i printed that short but yours will be perfect um uh are the chore charts now i already told you this would be for a month but i don't do monthly chores because i don't have time to like re-establish new chore routines every single month so my kids chores stay the same for the entire school year and then if i need to make a change i'll do that but you guys can see i have monday all the way down now this is not counting obviously cleaning up after themselves cleaning up their room these are chores that they will do in the morning before we start school so that's in all of their binders then i went ahead and printed them a copy of the weekly family learning schedule just so they could be aware of what is to come um my kids like knowing what's happening on what days and so just easy to print that and i put that in a page protector now here's my kids flows for their school days now i told you they all have one but they're obviously not all the same so you can see um this is our start time we have family bible time read alouds history and the logic lesson because that pertains to her and her brother tuesdays and fridays will be doing that then this is the order i would like her to complete her independent subjects in so she has these things and um you can see science two lessons wednesday two lessons we learned last year with bju that if we don't double up on some days then um taking breaks throughout the year is kind of difficult so starting the year off on the right foot with getting that out of the way and then um math being her last subject so all my kids have their routines they will reference this at the beginning of the school year as we learn the schedule um and then they kind of don't need it anymore but it's still in here for the year and i reevaluate that every single year you'll also notice if i were to show you all of my kids binders that their my older three are doing math at different times in their independent days and that's because we obviously don't have a computer for each of them although i am probably going to be getting a new laptop that will still only allow two kids to be doing math at the same time so we need to rotate with that um next in here she just has a reference sheet this was from the good and the beautiful so i left it in there uh the next page has some login info that is private so i don't show that and then the last thing is in here for now is her reading log because i have my kids keep a record of all the books that they read and then they star rate them and then that helps me see you know at the end of the year what they read it helps me keep track of it with four kids i would completely forget and it also lets them look back on all the books that they read and then review them and then i share that with you guys at the end of every school year so they each have a reading log in their binder so i have one for our family read-alouds and then they each have one for their assigned school books that go in their binders so like i told you all of them have them they're the exact same pretty much as we go through the school year things make their way into here anything loose anything miscellaneous anything they want to keep anything that i think is like really impressive i'll have them keep and put in here because at the end of the school year this is what we keep um like where i put their work that i want to save for that grade level i keep it down to one little binder but this just works out really well for us so these are kind of like a catch-all place where they can find their schedules their routines their chores any charts anything that they need to keep and so i just like having them for all four of my kids so like i said i will do a sit down video where i go through each child's chores so you can get some ideas and then explain kind of the routine and the flow of our school day so you guys can also gain some ideas but i wanted to show you the inside of the binders this is another thing checked off my list that is prepared for our next school year so that is going to be it for this video you guys i hope you enjoyed preparing with me let me know if you do anything similar let me know if you got any good ideas from this video i've been asked to show this so i wanted to make it this is a part of my getting ready for a school year i actually made a playlist to show you guys everything i do to get ready for a new homeschool year and i hope it's helpful to you if you want to get any of the printables you saw me using the link and the discount code to my website will be down below for you guys and as always i super appreciate your support but i hope you're doing well and i will see you all in my next video really soon bye guys
