two whole years since breath of the wild sequel was announced and we now have more information about the game it's a glorious time to be a zelda fan right about now not delaying the wait any longer let's tear this trailer apart similar to how the last one ended with the green energy this new trailer starts with malice flowing out from the left side of the screen as it slowly moves we get a quick flash of link studying the scene frame by frame we can see malice latching onto our boy's right arm scrubbing forward link is wielding the master sword while malice is shown consuming his right hand and then moving up to his shoulder what could this mean for the master sword judging by the first trailer we know link still has the sword after this point though these cutscenes may have been altered from the original trailer as development does change things i'll touch more on that later after the flash of our hero we come back to the malice creeping across the screen until a brief image of daddydorf appears accompanied by a familiar growl here ganondorf looks to be draped in a tattered chitin a tunic normally worn by men and women of ancient greece or in this case ancient hyrule around his waist he wears a horseshoe wait a minute ganondorf was a stable master all along jokes aside this version of ganondorf looks rather intimidating to say the least taking a closer look at his body we can make out what seems to be holes in the middle of his chest where the green hand was embedded and below that are four more holes possibly calling back to his wound from previous titles such as twilight princess as for what daddy dorf is up to in the scene it might be the moment in which the castle is raised skyward by malice very telling when it's followed up by the slow-moving dimlet malice quickly picking up speed and turning a violent red shortly after zelda's mugshot appears on screen seemingly terrified at what's about to happen link pulls a scar and drops our fair princess off of pride rock seriously though zelda falls to her doom going back to the original trailer we can somewhat make out what happens here ganondorf is awakened his hand twitching with life linc and zelda stand there in awe the green hand seal fades away and the ground begins to shift and crumble under the duo zelda falls link goes to catcher barely holding on to the edge the ground continues to fall apart causing link to lose his footing letting go of zelda as she falls into the pit of doom link ends up nearly going over with her the green hand quickly releases itself from ganondorf's chest saving her hero pulling him to safety all the while ganondorf is slowly coming back to his senses released from the clutches of the hand ganondorf snaps his neck back into place slowly stands up and comes face to face with link for the first time gathering himself after his near-death experience link swiftly pulls the master sword prepared for a fair fight but nay ganondorf was cunning and he responded with a plan beyond our imagining by taking out link's right hand the hand he uses to wield the blade of evil's bane dropping the sword link is disarmed only to have his right arm fully consumed by malice losing his hand entirely without a second thought link tries to remove the malice pulling with his left hand as a last ditch effort he picks up the master sword to find it does not have any effect on his corrupted arm sheathing it to be honest this would be next to impossible for him to do using his left hand i'm just trying to make sense of the original trailer again it's likely the game's development changed these series of events since it was so early on struggling to fight off the malice the mysterious hand saves the day by fusing itself to link stopping the malice from moving up his shoulder and replacing his arm with a new prosthetic-like limb exacerbated by what took place link faints in ganondorf lifts the castle skyward leaving our hero to suffer more later let's carry on after zelda falls to her demise the screen turns black followed by a white light similar to the one featured in the opening to breath of the wild which then transitions to one of the best scenes in the trailer link skydiving like an adrenaline junkie where is my squirrel suit at a direct reference to the way skyward sword link would dive down to the surface from skyloft starting with link's new getup it looks similar to the chitin worn by ganondorf with a green sash covering his left side featuring what could be a yellow dragon on the back farosh anyone accompanied by link's new tunic he has a smaller form factor harness and a belt matching his gear's ancient design to bring the outfit together he's wearing ancient greek or roman styled sandals oh and link's luscious locks are flowing in the wind his hair looks gorgeous without a helmet on might i add taking a gander at link's right arm it's clear this is his new magic prosthetic ganondorf's malice did quite the number with what could be scarring extending to link's back either that or these markings are a byproduct of the green gauntlet fusing with link enough fangirling for now let's check out the scenery directly below link are a series of floating islands similar to skyward sword going in for a closer look we can see a stone walkway leading to a dilapidated bridge which possibly connected these two locations to the left of that what could be a building sits midair above yet another floating outcropping of land below zooming out a bit two rather large buildings can be seen off in the distance one to the left which i'll admit could be shadows pointing tricks and a second one to the right peeking out from behind the clouds we possibly get a better view of what these two buildings may be in the next shot link flies in on an all-new paraglider which has a completely different rito design on the top it features eight tassels with two long streamers likely to determine the direction of the wind when venturing from island island this paraglider is also rocking a white frame compared to that of the standard wooden frame and breath of the wild i wonder if this bad boy catches more hang time can't forget linky he now has a shield that has a variation of the sheikah eye symbol on the back a new bow that matches its light color design a standard quiver new weather appropriate boots and a single-handed sword we get a better angle of the dragon design on link's sash and his new right arm huh i guess he has claws now the camera then pans to more of the islands and to the right a structure comes into view that's the building i was referring to in the previous shot these might be what replaced shrines in the sequel rather than having multiple small shrines breath of the wild 2 could use these as a replacement placing several puzzles enemies and items into one building making it feel more like an actual dungeon this time looks a bit small to be a main dungeon to me only time will tell though to the left of the building we can see an archway and another stone structure next to it as well as down below in the center of the shot here further out is what appears to be more land which stretches quite the distance from the first set following that clip link has now landed on one of the islands fortunately wearing the same outfit and he has the same gear equipped as link runs by he startles three birds and straight ahead of him is an archway that resembles a variation of a tory gate found in japan and its original inspiration the toronto gate which is of indian design to the right of link we have a stone wall that features a green pattern similar to his new arm to the left we have more structures that include the same motif far out in the distance we can make out another gate on a piece of land above the lighting in this scene is unbelievable next up is breath of the wild 2's version of an igor i think it resembles the one from majora's mask the most it might just be waking up in this moment similar to a stone tallest when it's lying dormant in the center we can see what can be viewed as the same green energy produced by link's new pal you know his arm as the igor pulls itself together we get a full shot of the new enemy its arms look like upside down sheika symbols and its hands look like it could deliver a devastating slap to the face on its waist is a broom surrounded by similar markings found on the buildings and links gauntlet whoever left these ruins behind must have set up guardians to protect the area you can even make out the similarities between the igor's shoulder and the ornamental lamp next to it directly behind the igor we can see two more gateways though the one to the right is more visible here we can tell it features a staircase and again those same green markings as before enough on that for now we'll get a better view of the gateway later in the next shot link can be seen gliding in on an enemy encampment that's stationed on top of a stone tallis these bacos spared no expense when pimping out their ride it has all of the latest features bako technology has to offer like wooden stakes at the bottom to fend off intruders barriers to protect the tallis's weak point and stabilize towers that don't fall apart when the creature moves around the bakos also have longer horns which could either indicate a power increase since ganondorf is back or a lengthy passage of time i'll go with the former because i don't feel time travel will play much of a role in this title outside of abilities this shot is a perfect example of why i don't think we'll be time traveling in this game to further elaborate some are under the impression that because link has two different outfits on when in hyrule like so and in the sky that we are playing as two different links one from the present and one from the past or that the link from the present is somehow traveling back in time when he visits the sky for the first idea i present to you the paraglider it's the same one shown in the previous clip with link in the heavens i will give you this just because it's the same paraglider doesn't debunk time travel it just makes it less likely the second idea i'll touch on more when it comes time for now take a look at those stone structures to the left this area is exactly in between whistling hill in the ranch ruins that's the ranch right there those structures don't exist in breath of the wild and look similar to the walls and bottoms of the floating islands another thing to notice is that both accola tower and varuda are no longer visible indicating that the chicas technology has become dormant after breath of the wild which would explain why they aren't present in the rest of the trailer one last thing i'd like to point out is death mountain is no longer active could we be going inside now we come to a clip of link's new limb in all its glory as the green energy swirls around his arm it solidifies into a dark green the gauntlets lights flashing as it fuses with link for the first time you know it kind of looks like a glorified power glove and there are those beautiful claws again for those wondering the green hand from the original trailer had even longer nails fusing with links seems to have shortened their length a bit also notice that link is laying down and is now shirtless compared to the previous scene of him acquiring the gauntlet possibly knocked unconscious from his struggle with the malice like i said earlier for this clip i like to think ganondorf's malice destroyed the champions tunic leaving him with half a shirt while under hyrule castle beneath him is some sort of ancient text not known to us yet close to the green symbols floating from the hand in the first trailer but oddly familiar at the same time they most certainly aren't gerudo but they do indeed share some similarities looks as if we'll have new ancient texts to decipher once the game releases moving on we see the prosthetic in action funny how they show the arm and then follow it by showing two abilities it has the first one is a new form of stasis in which the player can freeze an object and then reverse its motion in time with the spike ball link stops it forming multiple after images of the object behind it the ball turns yellow as it would with the sheikah slate and then the surrounding area turns black and white before the ball reverses back up the hill following the tethered after images created by the hand as it moves back up we can make out extra spikes on the blue bako's horns and moblins are now wearing helmets how nice above them are more enemies followed by some unorthodox encampments specifically this one on the top left which looks more like a trap following the old enemies is a brand new one for breath of the wild that is but before we keep going i need to address something first i've seen a lot of people commenting on link's face not being shown very often if at all during the trailer we all know it was there at the beginning while malice was having his arm for breakfast however after that we don't see much of link's mug why is this well i mean this is a third person game most of the scenes of link are actual gameplay clips we literally stare at the back of this dude's head all the time while playing the game this doesn't strike me as unusual or outside the norm though to prove nothing is wrong with link's face let's take a closer look at the bottom left-hand corner of the scene with a spike ball zooming in we can clearly see the right side of link's cheek his nose and even some of his eyelashes looks clean shaved no scars have crept up his cheek either maybe his eye is damaged maybe okay enough on that for now on to the new enemy most would think this is a worm something close to a sand worm from phantom hourglass or a mold worm from minish cap however i'm going to go out on a limb i know it's crazy but i believe this creature to be breath of the wild's version of a deku baba i could totally be wrong and it could be an entirely new creature either way it's creepy oh and did i mention link has a dragon shaped flamethrower attached to a shield glowing green just like his right arm does please hylia let this be a unique dungeon item judging by the ancient architecture surrounding link this must be some underground ruins left behind by whoever populated the skies above as their green design once again can be seen scattered around the room maybe this cavern is even situated in the sky on an island that happens to have an underground section to it behind the enemy seems to be a platform where a chest would normally spawn killing this creature could reveal it before we move forward let's check out link's face one more time pausing here shows that the left side of link's face is perfectly fine no damage from malice no beard he's looking sexy as ever i can't fully say what's going on when link's in the sky sections of the map but i'd be willing to bet nothing has changed other than his outfit in the lack of a hair tie cutting closer to the end of the shot we can see the creature perish and then the trailer moves on to a puddle of water reversing its motion in time showing off the second ability the gauntlet has one that can send links soaring into the heavens above as though he's diving into a pool of water while also allowing him to fluidly warp through the ground as if it's a liquid nintendo added clipping as a power you can utilize in-game without it being a glitch oh my god coming up to the view of hyrule above the clouds i can confidently say this is directly above ridgeland tower very close to the thunder plateau here's the same location and breath of the wild above the tower off in the distance we can see the gerudo highlands and below you can tell that the two shrines that once sat near the bridge are no longer there as of writing this i discovered that only one of the two shrines comes into frame in breath of the wild this is due to the limitations of the draw distance the game is capable of and does not mean the objects are not there they just aren't being rendered at the time however one thing i did notice is that the world looks significantly more detailed in the trailer compared to that of breath of the wild meaning it might have been running on a unit with a little bit more power and increased draw distance assuming i'm correct about the shrines and towers going dormant i think it's safe to say they aren't visible here regardless of this limitation an example of something that probably is on the surface but not present due to limited draw distance are the ancient hylian pillars normally resting on top of this portion of hyrule ridge close to tabantha stable in game they're there but if you get far enough away they disappear you can't even see them from satori mountain which is much closer to the pillars than the vantage point in the trailer do you recall that second time travel idea i mentioned now is the time to cover it this is the clip in which people are referring to as it's the only one with the sky and hyrule visible at the same time the pillars or lack thereof are used as evidence of this being ancient hyrule as i mentioned already draw distance is a thing though some objects have higher priority than others in fact an object appears in both this shot and breath of the wild's hyrule not debunking time travel but again making it less likely i spy with my little eye a metal structure that looks oddly familiar that right there is one of the many windmills that resides in the tanagar canyon i highly doubt these windmills are over 10 000 years old by the time of breath of the wild even so because the windmills are present i can say it's probable the pillars are still on the surface all in all i think this is the same hyrule no time travel no ancient past just the surface and the lands above that have always been hidden by this thick cloud layer as seen in many of the shots from above hyrule in fact the portals the dragons come in and out of allude to the cloud barrier still being intact after skyward sword anyways atop the island link is standing on lies another gate or shrine of sorts it's identical to the ones we've previously looked at though this time we get a better view of the structure's blocky design bizarre markings and what could be a statue or terminal similar to the ones found on top of chica towers furthermore you can see several other gates scattered across each of these small outcroppings of land if you look closely you can even see the roots of a tree growing through this one here after this the trailer cuts to a close-up of hyrule castle lifting into the air from atop the observation room nothing of note to mention here other than the tower is again missing in the background as the castle begins to rise the camera cuts to a closer shot showing a piece of the sanctum break off before transitioning to the next scene which takes us back out above the observation room to show the horror ganondorf is set free upon hyrule fiery red malice pushes the castle into the air as it continues rising the camera angle changes again to a shot in front of the guard's chamber rocks begin to fall from above before quickly fading to black we are then left with a final shot of hyrule castle fully suspended by malice draped in ganondorf's dark energy once again interesting side note this clip was taken from cornell hills east of the castle a few things of significance that i could make out was the addition of this bacco camp right here no tower off in the distance and of course the castle is floating lastly courtesy of tgm zelda's lullaby can be heard in the background of the final scene he mentioned to me that this sounded a lot like an erhu which is also known as a chinese violin props for the find my dude this same instrument is used very clearly in the songs played when approaching any of the three dragons and in a few other pieces the game has to offer nice nod to the goddesses zelda team and with that i'm done with my in-depth analysis of breath of the wild 2's new trailer what do you think did i miss any sweet details sound off in the comments below i want to discuss this game with all of you much love to all my
