[Music] plug it back inside the Fargodome on one minute 50 seconds call our cruise line countdown let's get the final thoughts of our through before North Dakota State and you see this quarterback Jake Mayer is one of the best quarterbacks in the country he's a favorite for the Walter Payton Award and he returns a slew of wide receivers from a year ago he's also got four offensive linemen back if the Bison can get after him today again they had seven sacks last week if they can get after Mayer today I think it changes this game but the question is can they get to the quarterback and can they get him to the ground a guy that was good at that how about you Kyle thanks Ryan I know we've talked about him a lot today but I think UC Davis quarterback Jake Mayer is the is a big emphasis for me today and how well the Bison defense and especially the secondary can contain him he's easily the best quarterback this defense has seen this year Ken nh-2 defensive coordinator David bran dial up some things maybe get some pressure like you mentioned and disrupt him this game I really want to see what the secondary can do they played really well so far this season they jumped out to me but what can they do today against the best quarterback that they've seen my final thought going into this game is to see how North Dakota State attacks UC Davis on the offensive side with the run game outside zone has been marvelous so far in the first three games for North Dakota State attacking on the perimeter we'll see if they go more inciting try to attack that a gap here today so the Davis offense really wants to play fast and especially if it's going well it's called tempo one thing the Bison defense can do to try to slow that temple down and look for this whenever the Davis offense substitutes up later the Bison defense is allowed to bring a guy or two on the field when they do they will try to do it as slow as the referees will allow try and break that tempo just a little bit some of that game within a game that I love about football all right thanks guys that's enough talking from us let's tee it up and play number one North Dakota State number for UC Davis happening right now in the first world game of the season North Dakota State rolled into Delaware and ran the Blue Hens out of their home stadium winning its twenty fourth straight game today the Bison welcomed in an old great West Conference poll in UC Davis as two top five teams the eggies reignite a series that dates all boy back to 1982 and it's coming up next [Music] [Applause] [Music] you can [Music] teams meeting once again there's some history there from the division two days in the early eighties and in the early era of the Division one as well now they get to play non-conference opponents in top five matchup when this game was first ain't I don't think people quite anticipated it would be the matchup that we have today which is a big benefit for everyone watching not only in this building but at home because as we've mentioned we have number one playing number four and that's a fairly rare thing to happen in the non-conference won the toss the Bison deferred first [Applause] Peterson was a freshman all-american last year he's just 165 pounds but he will come up and hit I think he's the best player they have on the on the defensive side he plays corner lamps kept it delayed and then darts across the 30 up to the 31 yard line that should be enough for a North Dakota State first down and Bryce Rodgers excuse me Jordan Franklin coming in to make that tackle it Brian my point with that last incompletion with Lance is that you talk about things that mature quarterbacks do knowing you're going to get hit standing in there to try to let your receiver have a couple extra steps in the route it's a hard thing to do for a young kid Lance got blasted on that incomplete pass but he stood in there took the hit delivered a good ball again another step to show you that this young kid is maturing stretch play to the outside UC Davis all over at this time pick up up a couple of yards and that is the first carry of the day for Kobe Johnson Kobe has had a tremendous start to his collegiate career 10 carries over 100 yards last week against Delaware he's averaging over nine yards per carry so far as a true freshman well done at the point of attack I think by the Davis defense it was Nick Eaton one of the linebackers and then Naza Nesi number eight the right one of the defensive ends running that play down on the backside second and eight here for North Dakota State Lance all-american last year and identified by the Bison coaching staff is probably the best defensive player on the Aggie squad number 21 on the high side Connor Terry also coming in and Lance had up the right side see where the hole is got outside but maybe a little outside and a little up on the shoulder pretty quick recognition though from Lance because it looked like he was potentially lined up to and long and that'll take us to the end of the first corner Pisan starting fast UC Davis a quick touchdown drive of its own and at 7-7 after the first 15 minutes of play here at the Fargodome in his top five matchup between North Dakota State and UC Davis and 14 from North Dakota State from the 35 yard line trail ants 2 of 5 for 20 yards in that first quarter pressure coming again setting up a screen Cofield makes the catch but excellent discipline again coming all the way back from his defensive tackle position was Josiah Sioux die to make that tackle 6 yards short of the first down I thought that was an interesting look from Davis right there Brian they started in an Okie front and then brought three other people meaning three down linemen oke with the center covered and then the big blitz game and I thought the Bison may have had the right play called but it was read early enough there by the Aggies to be able to break off of that six-man rush and to force the fourth down different look though from Davis Thomas back at his own 18 yard line went on for another punts latest Branson fresher this time not a wobbler Thomas will call for the fair catch at the 20th minute usually the shield doesn't have to deal with three players and that time the Bison shield did three guys had to block three players so NDSU did a good job protecting that hunter I'm sure UC Davis saw the film from last week's double hair I was able to block upon early in that game and it should show them some different looks on special teams here so far mayor Ford 942 yards in the touchdown dan hawkins has to be pleased the way is to was spotted after a shaky star here and and it's up to environment front up front to I think the line has come alive and that ball behind his intended target able to get could gain there on second down of six yards will bring up third and four some see making the tackle for North Dakota State Davis did a really nice job of sealing that edge taking care of the defense again is taking him out of the play to open up the edge Mayer quickly now touch the bearing down he completed the pass and will be enough for a first down to her Elle and boy did he take a shot from Tuscon to deliver the football but that will move the sticks for the Aggies an absolute blast and this is where quick release is a must know that insurance company retail a Tusker blows past the tackle but can't quite get to the quarterback to absorb that hit Davis back to work again airing it out man is open down the sidelines close and Crawford inside bison territory finally dragged down by Tutsi at the 24 yard line this is where the Aggies will want to go quick off of a big play home tempo you get up there you had success you just beat the defense for a big play line up and run another 144 yards on that connection and a flag comes out and this is how you slow down tempo I think that was Cooper Richardson and moved early [Applause] this is a replay no there's where it is Tutsi got hooked up because Tutsi was the one who was having to play the deep side the deep safety and he got caught up in a little bit of a cross pattern about a 15 yards feet north the co-state brings on for fresh defensive linemen here on second and long post in long excuse me that's where the penalty really helps in the SU because if the Aggies can keep rolling you cannot make that up with him their own worst enemy after the great big play too late handoff boy that was taken down and sniffed out right away feat living with the big tackle for loss of four on helium but was that and a senior here and getting an opportunity and making a play now that is pretty neat thank you for your service by the way absolutely so third and ten for North Dakota State Lantz and he dropped it would have been enough for a first down instead the Bison will have to punt now you don't expect that out of number 11 he's been really sure handed made a nice diving catch earlier in the game Lantz Hickey at the 42 yard line of North Dakota State in a first down I thought it was will Martin the sinner who I saw get the snap off and then pull remember he was one of the starting guards he got out there and got in place in the in position on the boundary side 20-yard gain there for Killian now in the run game the Aggies have been able to find a few things to the narrow side of the field the short side we're making some changes at the line here six on the play clock run again to Killian this time the Bison are ready for it good job coming in to make that tackle James Kaiser who Han has been playing mostly linebackers today on the outside the offensive line splits had lately have been so wide it does two things it forces the defensive line wide but it also gives your linebackers a that late in the second half and in that fourth quarter but and again you go back and from the Aggie standpoint they are not gonna come cold remotely close to seeing another team especially in the Big
