hey man it's about yg and kayungala and when you look at players nowadays you notice that they stole a move or two from legends in the past but that's what legends do they inspire multiple generations to do what they do like jordan kobe magic dirk and lebron which is crazy because he's still in the league are the main people that i hear that younger players are trying to emulate and you can even throw in curry because everybody's trying to do what he do so anyways man we're gonna listen to nba legends and please share what other players remind them of but before we get straight into that make sure you like share subscribe and hit that notification bell for the culture so you won't be missing any of my videos and let's get to the vid man when clay asked me uh it was a privilege i didn't even pause because of the relationship and the respect that i have for clay and obviously the respect that i have for russell um i am truly a fan of his uh if you can ever say you know being that we are so many years apart uh that i when i watch him play i see a lot of resemblance of his passion for the game of basketball the way i play the game of basketball playing against booker tonight he went straight to my move first time he caught it yeah y'all gonna beat me on my move man like you know but i mean it was it was it was it was great to see it was absolutely great to see him because i remember i you know i used to i did the same thing with nj i think he's fantastic i think he has the right attitude he has the right competitive spirit i think his footwork's extremely sound and his fundamentals are extremely sound and now it's just about him figuring out exactly what his game is and then he can go to that every single night and then make counters off of it but he has the skill i am playing today my name is greek freak who's the first big guy to take you coast to coast all you don't remember check this play out look at the big guy around the floor [Applause] i play just like greek freak take it off the glass high percentage shots high percentage shots i shoot a three every now and then so i would actually love to play in this game it's less physical i would bring a a little bit more physicality i would bring my length i would bring my athleticalness and i'd be greek freak who would i want to play one-on-one that list is very long start off with jerry west elgin baylor kobe bryant and his prime lebron and his prime d wade and his prime melo that's a good start yeah i don't think i lose other than kobe bryant because he steals all my moves wait who's the young player in the league right now that reminds you the most of yourself donovan mitchum hmm donovan i like that undersized underrated coming in um play's kind of similar he could shoot better than me obviously but play is very similar to the way i play how you know and this is a guy who i've mentored obviously he realized that he played similar to me and has reached out to me on multiple occasions so i say donald mitchell uh k.d it was just k.d you know he got some spots got to a shot um it's kind of reminded me of like 90s basketball when you got to score and they get the ball his body take one dribble make it let's get to their spot and it's like defense can't do anything about it kind of reminding me mj uh i don't like to make that comparison but he got to us david you know he got to the spots there's nothing you can do about it and then when you see that look in his face uh carries over to the rest of the guys and we in turn take that to the defensive end get stops go back and do the same thing so the mentality was right tonight like watching him go coast to coast and it's funny y'all had the trivia question about jerry west because it's like the agility of a modern day like a kareem i remember watching kareem in game of death against bruce lee and i felt like it was incredible that a seven foot man could be so nimble and agile he doesn't necessarily have the power of will but this is what he would look like um and and gliding greeny you see him taking those long steps that's like that's like dr j is asked sometimes right he's the closest thing kobe is the closest thing to michael that we think why because he can score that basketball just like michael jordan he had the same mindset and attitude just like michael jordan he took no prisoners he wanted to just put his foot on your neck he wanted to destroy you mentally and physically just like michael jordan and he wanted to have six championships like michael jordan he he got close he got five but he never got that six championships out of current day players and have you all weigh on on who they remind you of from possibly back in the day scottie pippen in him defensively the way he plays obviously lebron's a lot bigger but scotty could also guard one through four lebron can actually guard one through five these days because there aren't many centers how about derrick rose in terms of penetration and getting to the basket and taking a hit not necessarily finishing at the rim i would say myself maybe a little tim hardaway i think the guards you know coming out of chicago uh they know how to gift to the rim and know how to take a hit now we we never had the athleticism that he has because he gets to the rim and he finishes with a dunk uh but if he can ever put a jump shot within his game um you know yeah to me he's an athletic rod strickland oh i was going that's where i was going too yeah he does the way rod strickland used to score on getting laid but he just wasn't as explosive athletically well you said something earlier that because rod wasn't a great outside shooter his ball handling was off the chart so he would cross you up get you off and get you to the basket so derek's handles that rock yeah kevin johnson i mean he reminds me of not quite you know obviously he might be he's more powerful than kevin johnson kj was somebody that got to the rim could finish him you know amongst the trees and somebody was super athletic let me turn the question around a little bit now and say who's today is john stockton i think as long as he's playing steve nash as close as you're gonna get to what john stockton was about i mean the consistency in terms of shooting the basketball steve is one of the game's greatest shooters of all time john stockton consistently a 50 shooter a playmaker an assist maker but i mean i don't see that you don't i don't as much because of because of the offensive end of the ball i think because of the willingness to score i think john stockton to me played free throw line in like he really penetrated the basketball free-throw line in where steve nash goes plays free throw line out he's really a three-point shooter well now you're going to go into system though because one guy was locked into jerry sloan's half-court offense where it was he got one select run selectively in advance with the pass which is something that i think that's one of the biggest things that steve and john share is the willingness as a point guard to advance i agree with the past and play but their system but i wouldn't play if i was like if i don't know steve isaiah if you were guarding them my first thing would be make nash drive my thing with stockton would be make him shoot from the outside so i would think of them i would be playing them totally different like i would i wouldn't want steve nash to be a jump shooter i would say i want to get him in the lane or you'd say help if there's a pick and roll oh pick and roll with help help help you know i i think john i i've played i played against john since i was 13 years old and you know he's a he's a much better outside shooter much better with the basketball and and when you talk about you know nash and stockton i just think from a toughness standpoint i i don't i don't think there's a comparison and i don't know if we have anybody in our game today with his type of toughness uh physically or mentally and you know when you when you played against john i mean you you had to bring your lunch i mean on the offensive side in the defensive side because you know that there was a toughness about him that he carried that you know i don't know if we have anybody in our game today that that that really brings that that to the top i would put chris paul in that conversation i know they play differently and they're they look different and and chris is much bigger but john was one of the strongest guards in the league i don't know if you guys felt that i was not here by one of them screaming yeah he was but but the toughness the the the competitiveness i see a lot of that in chris paul and the point guard mentality what's happened today you guys know point guards are more looking to score you've got guys who really want to score john was always looking to pass i always feel like chris paul can score whenever he wants but he's got a kind of an old school point guard mentality but you know i always thought like um you know stockton as a score if he was in this game today oh yeah with no centers and no big i i felt like you know he made malone i don't know if malone would have been the type of player he was had he not had a stockton you know and so i felt i mean i felt and i felt like if if malone's not in the way and you put them in this game today i think stockton in this game you know he can score the basketball easily get to the basket and be just as good as anybody playing is the closest thing to urban that we have ever seen because of his size his speeds his acceleration his vision everything that he can do he just had no pressure on him to have to score one time he had a mentality of being a scorer he could have scored three points maybe he wanted to ken could have won one of urban's greatest games ever in the playoffs uh many have been like a decisive game he had two points in the game it was 13 for 13 from the free throw line and 13 rebounds and 13 assists like 16. he was a winner lebron's a winner but uh the way that lebron plays the game now coast to coast handles the ball runs the offense it's just like murder i mean they're the same old same dna ruins that's why he's the best player [Music] who should we compare lebron to then if you don't feel those two players are a fair comparison i like to compare him to magic really he plays a lot more like magic a lot more like myself how i play uh obviously he's more dominant than both me and magic because of the way that he plays the game his physicality his athleticism surpassed magic as well as me very few have both at an elite level but steph is as gifted with the ball as i've as anybody i've ever seen shooting and passing and dribbling trying hard to get him we looked at him as sort of the next steve nash and i still think there are a lot of similar qualities just to the skill and the cerebral nature they're different in that step it's more of a natural score and nash is more of a natural passive but similar character wise and approach and work ethic but regardless for me as a first time coach to have him as the point guard here hopefully for a long time to come and we were watching steve nash at the same size basically become the mvp two times in a row like well why can't this kid you know do the same thing the most like jordan that we've seen like there's a lot of great players lebron is phenomenal katie is phenomenal but not that he is jordan or anything like that but he's the most like him big hands uh post game can finish great leaper great defender in between game and then you add his three-point shooting the run kawhi to michael jordan comparison to me has been a lazy one that i've seen a lot of people use have it kobe bryant is the next closest thing that i ever have seen to michael jordan remind you of anybody in from the past not really you know the game has changed so much so people didn't used to shoot step back threes you know um i think he and james harden have maybe a similar type game for the modern game the step back freeze the passing ability so i think he's a little bit like hard he's got a little larry bird you know with the ability to uh to see the game you know a step ahead but a very very different game these days byrd wasn't shooting those step back threes like that off so he's a unique player to himself so guys i hope you enjoyed the video and tell me which comparison surprised you the most so make sure you like share subscribe and show us to the yg gang and i'm out [Music] ryan
