Native American Salmon Cooking

well welcome to the Fisher magician outdoor cooking show and I've got a very special treat in store for you today I'm here with Geraldine Jim and she is going to show us exactly how she prepares salmon in the traditional Native American way Geraldine thank you so much for giving you this opportunity I need that skewer these they're indent now and you said there's a name for each of these sticks yeah there I can see that you've been using the same sticks yeah they're Ironwood Ironwood very hard and they're some of them are 35 oh my so they're very hard stick and they don't burn all yes but they will not burn they stand around the fire people it's slippery there you go there's no justice the Ironwood goes through the length of the fillet and then the smaller sticks your place to keep it in place on us to keep it from wiggling around and when it starts cooking it will slide down the stick don't have anything to hold it and I noticed too we were talking earlier about your fire you like a not a big fire but a hot fire and you used all fruits apple cherry air and your favorite is altar what dance is that right yeah when we could get it there's a lot of over here but they can't get it okay now this one is ready to go by the fire and my partner here Jerome yes we'll be standing the fish Bible hey Jerome thank you I usually have a cardboard underneath his pictures people even food yes the surface and anything like here little cardboard yet I can see well that would help and the salmon we're using that that's a nice sized spring salmon yes it is big fish beautiful color you can see why this spring salmon are so popular and I have to stretch them out and this tail I leave it like that so ill hang over and that's what normal put up from sliding if I put it clear to the end they'll still slide with restriction but this K lifting okay just pull that flap up if it rolls a joint sliding good they do work good I see that pretty quickly of course now you've had some experience with this Geraldine you've been doing salmon like this for how long here about 50 years I was 12 years old when we have to go ah so since you were 12 years old we were helpers fish until
