STREET FOOD on the INDIAN RESERVATION | Downtown Crow Agency, Montana

well what's up everybody from Pro agency that is the Native American reservation for the crow tribe and there's a there's that there's a local name for that absolutely up up solid gave up Sala K right I got it right did I get it right up tall okay okay alright so right here is the post office oh I want to say that that this is actually that there's a different government here there's a there's a different police force it's more like Security Force there's a it's it's completely different there's a there's different kind of a taxation if the land that land is AG is is kind of leased from the tribe for for their for their houses and things very high so we're gonna look at how the Native Americans are living here and I just want to see what's how it is so first of all there's a post office there's a four-way stop sign over there it's a variety shop and there's a gas station and this is 90 Highway 90 so you just get off the highway and go see what it's like all right let's go see the post office that's pretty standard there's lots of mailboxes and here's where you can send your packages otherwise I think there's more interesting stuff to see let's get out of the post office Jason clothes and nobody's here right now 25 cents to dry okay that's uh that's it we are walking around on Native American land for those of you who don't know these are the natives of America not not what I look like these are the natives and then the Europeans came in and took their land it's a little bit like genocide but it didn't quite get there and so I just want to see how how much we love our art our natives of the land here I do say hello there's some boarded up buildings over there [Music] maybe someday there'll be some shops yeah it looks like it's gonna kind of rough times around here we're selling food and today it looks like about three places right yeah tomorrow will be even more busy because tomorrow is a Friday and a variety is a pretty bustling maybe people get paid on Friday yeah and they like today and tomorrow people be getting paid so it'll be a good time to be out you know okay we'll be having different things like the Mexican guy oh he always has a truck and he has she has her coffee business and the sandwiches is something I looked it all over there and then sometimes people like to sit up and they're you know mostly it's a full support families around here you know when people sell food or goods and items feed it work that's for the mostly for the families because we're you know we're far from the city we're like an hour from the city yeah yeah yeah we're part from the city that looks good here MoMA you hold that there's a grocery store is a 15 miles away and Harden and we have a gas station we have a post office and there was some there was some mug is that that one over there there was some little supermarket but there was nothing there was there wasn't any fresh food in there it was just like chips and where was that it's over there right so it's hard to get a real grocery store exactly yeah when is that yeah the groceries will apply about nine months ago and since then we we have to go all the way to harden or you know if you got big to that ITA right yeah we're over there and then otherwise you have to go to buildings the Sam's Club Costco Walmart you know yeah and you better have a truck or van and take you so good things you guys are here though we buddy can come and get two two burgers for five dollars yeah what's your name Linda nice to meet you Jason miss my mom Carla hi he's been he's that he's the taste tester right nice man come on over a couple minutes ago you know like in the cities or like even the suburbs of the cities you'll have a water sanitation and to y'all that's normal and for us it's a luxury or something that we look forward to having because here on a reservation not everybody has toilets flushing toilets we might have running water and what we can take showers and where we can boil water like that but the waters in though it's drinkable and everything the water is drinkable we have a do have a water plant here on Carosa it does still create the water that comes through and goes through a but like said about the sanitation and the water lines like the people that live farther down the rural area outside of the little town here in Crow Agency it's harder for them to have lines built for them to their homes so actually some people really still use outhouses they're still outhouses here so people in the reservations here and still using outhouses yeah some I mean I may be pretending to here yeah I'd say roughly 10 roughly and I'd love to see one sometimes you can look around out of your house oh we have running water we have this plumbing washes our yeah cuz we're local riding into town like say the farther you get outta the local then it's harder to get services and Lexi had a lot of it's government you know ability like the governor coming in and like a proof stuff so kind of little work gets it away sometimes Timon and then and then where's the money you know that they're gonna say we don't the money yeah I mean it gets appropriated and then they say it's gonna come in Manny might come like five to seven years down the road but during all that time you're just living kind like a third world people need to know how we're right here in America we're right here in Montana another wise rich stage with land and resources and everything but yeah people are still using an outhouse yeah because they they need more money and services here exactly yeah but we do all the people you know we adapt everybody had learned to adapt and you know we live and we get by yeah but if it's helpful to come down here and buy some food get to know the people here and and show the love yeah like here on their reservation it's a third-world country but people actually read that we survived most of it like say the crow reservation I would say it was like a swampland most of this is swamp man so when it rains it floods here when it snows and it melts it really floods here I mean like it's probably the land has a government who gave to the crows drive-in you know sit here live here and we'll bring you food we'll bring your rations and you know a lot of stuff didn't follow through all the time and so sometimes that's why I left like maybe it's some of the Warriors went off the reservation to hunt kill bring it back it was just to help their families and the tribe survive because sometimes the government didn't come through with what they said they were gonna do and we got to still live you know so true it's so true they'll use them you know scoop everything on the inside has the Buffalo that will take it and use it for something the body of the Buffalo has a purpose for the natives and that's why the natives got like kind of distressed when a lot of the hunters would come around and kill oh that's our food supply but that's where they killed him yeah yeah you know and I head up the supply to the for the natives so that's one of the things about the Buffalo in how we treat the land and how we treat the earth you know we always take care of everything and we always try to do some buffalos going around there's a buffalo pasture and actually it's a more by buildings by ranch and Billings but we there is a buffalo pasture and I froze on it but I'm until you're educated so so if we're gonna go by the white man's ways like the legislators the poor branch of the government then we have to have our young people educated to do things right and to to monitor the leaders what they're doing so we need the young people educated young people young people will care enough to take care of their their native lands a lot of people out there don't realize that it's it's a different police force out here it's a different government there's different laws different chords it's all different it's it's it's a it's decided but like that light a light it quite a tribe so it's a different system that we have that lot of us don't understand okay and there's no idea okay no something jitters no-bake love healthy are you still making coffee or did you set
