NAIROBI FOOD GUIDE - Nairobi's Best Restaurants & Street Food

the city of Nairobi also known as the green city in the Sun is the capital of Kenya and business hub of East Africa it's the only city which has a National Park nestled within it and the city itself offers so many places to explore have an adventure and even be one with nature along with the crazy hustle life that this city has the city has a lot of great places where you can grab a meal and just hand off with friends in this video I'm gonna guide you guys through some of the places where you can eat it while you're in Nairobi oh wow [Music] alright guys so starting off to the first place on the list is coffee Casas now if you want to get a good breakfast this is the place to be but most importantly if you are an instagramer this place is Instagram goals now I'm here for one thing that they offer that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in Nairobi let me show you guys what that is this is called the Casa burger it has so many layers it's crazy eggs of meat patty lettuce and tomatoes and onion relish mushroom sauce and honestly I think there's lots more of stuff in that burger that I haven't even mentioned thing is like it's like half of the size of my face so I don't even know how I'm gonna put it into my mouth my favorite part [Music] you're so frickin good guys so I went through that burger like wildfire and I'm so full right now and it's still have to finish these chips have this milkshake or even the gossip burger is about a thousand shillings that's like ten dollars an other menu items range between 800 to 1,200 shillings those are really reasonable prices for Nairobi and one thing to mention is that when you order something from here be prepared to walk out with a really really full stomach so we have come to this place called diamond plus and it's basically the Indian harbour and I Roby my friend bridge was brought me to this place which it is actually his father's shop and he says that they serve this drink that's only special to this place which was a drink like it's called touch me so there are basically it's for like jam10 so don't think Mahalo they serve us all I need like we bring it from India and especially me or it's like the traditional thing it's also great for digestion by the way it's great for digestion yeah yeah apparently after that burger won't be good for digestion in Australia it's very interesting yoga it tastes like engine asanas like a lot of Indian massages dude so if you're looking to digest after your amazing meal that's the place to go to so the next stop is for you restaurant and they have two branches here in Lavington I'm at the old approach which I highly recommend because it's cozier the service is way better and the food is fantastic so there's one thing that you get here that they don't usually so unless you ask for it it's called the chili garlic oil and this thing your food is at this level it's testable so make sure to ask for it now here's the reason why we love to come here time and time again we have this table full of food and everything on the table has just cost us about five thousand shillings that's $50 mixed vegetables chilli prawn chilli garlic chicken and shrimp right the awesome thing about this dish is that it's so colorful because of all the captain comes on it that is the chili to me as tourists cups can you be consumer it needs what Chili's but it's so good like maybe I just know where the rice and the curry is one thing about Chinese restaurants in a row Vista deserve indo-chinese so that's a mix between like Indian and Chinese so if you're looking for authentic Chinese there's some upcoming authentic Chinese places but I'm here to check those out if you're on a budget and a little health-conscious make your way to really news they have branches all over the city and they serve this grilled lemon herb chicken which city just they actually have a scale where you can choose how hot you want your chicken to me I love my super hot got a nice chili chicken oh good here's a hack for you guys the Leto's is actually a restaurant that has a number of system companies and that includes chicken in so if you're going to go Leto's which is close to a chicken in you can order your chicken from delitos and then order your chips from chicken in there cheaper you get a bigger portion and in my experience they're generally better thank me later good morning guys we're starting off our day here at urban eatery and we're grabbing some breakfast now urban eatery is a place in Nairobi that has one of the most extensive menus they have lots of cuisine here ranging from Mexican Italian India and even pan-asian and the good thing is that the prices range between like 600 shillings to about 1200 shillings that's like $6 to $12 so it's really reasonable look at the size of that menu though I got a bacon club sandwich and here what you got let's eat but that bacon and egg and then when you put that bit of philosophy and elation in society so the negative is just imperfectly talk after a breakfast like that anyway it's time to head to the next place one thing that I need to mention right now is that I've left the pins to all the locations in the description below so if you need to get the directions check them out there after you finish watching this video this wouldn't be a proper Nairobi food guide if I didn't mention you guessed it niamh oma yama yama means roasted meat and usually it's chicken or mutton and it's part of Kenyan culture gas will usually get together after work grab a few drinks and have samyama Toma we even celebrate with me Amma Toma so you'll find loads of places here in Nairobi that serve also Mohammed Omar so my brother told me about this place and he said that he had the best in your ma shumou over here this place is called the Roadhouse grill and I'm here to just it for myself and for you guys so this is called touching Bari and basically what it is is it's just chopped up vegetables and they all mix together and then they put some lemon on top of it and the Doctoroff like coriander okay so what I've done is I have put some calamari on top of it's really thought which is not good if this would result in repeat you come in order you namishyami that you have to wait a whole hour and we actually get it but people didn't I'm here at what could easily be one of my favorite Indian restaurants here in Nairobi and this place is called chapati my personal favorite is the branch that's here in Diamond Castle so for status is in my opinion the best chips that you ever have here in Nairobi these are called the chef special garlic chips we take a lemon put that all over and then there's this green sauce just it's called Hana COBOL so it looks like on the inside I think of these and there's a little bit of like paneer in there whoa that is good Cho party is of vegetarian Indian restaurant and their menu items range between 300 to 900 shillings now the items that are on the higher end of the menu can generally be shared between two people so I final mean I thought we were given complimentary let me sort of lemonade you washing your hands yes don't stick that drink it's actually something you used to wash your hands [Music] can you stop using your phone it's been some time together how we can play some board games but we don't have any I know just the place I think I should start making skits let me know in the comments if you guys think I should bow box bow box is the only cafe in Nairobi where you can go with a bunch of friends and socialize over board games it's actually mandatory to put your phone away to leave this or not but I have never played Jenga before so I'm here with Meera today she's gonna show me how to play Jenga and you play general people so basically you have game on [Music] I'm a new escape the other cool thing with this cafe is that it's on the eighth floor so you can enjoy some amazing views of the city so I heard that these guys serve amazing lamb chops and chips so while we're playing our games BAM this is freaking amazing it's so soft you see why Wow nowhere else in Nairobi ever had around that is singing whatever and I just tried this apple pie and I got a big thumbs up now if you want to grab a quick authentic snack you can find vendors on the corners of streets there either roofing maize frying cassava or selling coconuts they're extremely cheap running from around 20 to 100 shillings that's like 20 cents to a dollar and my personal favorite is cassava crisps with chili with a hint of lemon pie crust on the top it's decided I think it would be super cliche if I said how Kunal Matata but anyway Hakuna Matata okay guys so I don't know if you've noticed yet but I am NOT a food guru at all that is why I decided to call some backup hi guys hi guys that's there's me and that's actor and these guys are so if you guys brought me so we're at pan-asian Yahoo it used to be called China garden and then it was coke Emeril and we have a pretty gal so what are we eating today yeah like the name is justice pan-asian it's a lot of Asian cuisine from different different countries within the continent so tiny Nigeria Chinese yeah sushi great sushi they do pot bought this video about hot pot on our channel open it watch it now shameless okay so places like this are fine dining places so when you order a dish expect it to take some time but it's all worth it because the food is so good prices here generally range from 600 shillings to about 20 100 shillings that's like six dollars to $21 but even though it's pricey food just it's so good so this is called a power and this one specifically is topped with three wild mushrooms shiitake black community and boy stur it's like wow the bun is super light light and fluffy well in the filling has like all this umami this black pepper sauce is delicious happy the true judge of that oh wow so spongy right wasn't expecting right yeah you're good awesome mm-hmm so you're saying what we tried right now was dim sum yes so in Chinese cuisine dim sum is just basically something's there are a lot of different types so you can have like two hours before the first ones we've had well you can have Clark hours you can have like crystal dump it there just like it depends on gears are it hands on the rapper so that's all all types of dumplings basically and what Chinese for dim sum well super good and there's different flavor profiles as well this dish one there's Cantonese style you know there's what they do in Hong Kong as well so I mean you guys really know your stuff anyway you guys thank you so much I mean this is a real treat not just a foodie rip you know the shame is left we're back here at Diamond Plaza to actually eat at the food court now the food could serve multiple different cuisines but we're here for two dishes in specific that's Marvin bhajiya chicken tikka now if you guys didn't know Maru puja actually originated from East Africa this is modeled butcher and it's basically slices of potatoes covered in gram flour butter and coriander and it's fried to perfection this is called chicken tikka and my favorite place to get it is from this BC of all chicken tikka in my opinion is grab some but you're not and then kind of like a poster for you of the salad mixed with all the resources that they provide that's why I come here because they're just so damn good and the other thing is it's really reasonable so guys that was my first attempt at making a food guide let me know what you guys thought in the
