Mingalabar good morning from Yangon Myanmar another  beautiful day the sun has come out guys as you   can see it is bright it is exciting this is  my second day here in Yangon in Myanmar uh so   far the experience has been unprecedented never  experienced a country like this it's so unique   for a country in Southeast Asia um there's so  many unique differences and I've pointed out   a few of them and I'm sure I'll see more as  I go along but today I am going to be headed   over to my friend chit has invited me over to his  family's home his family will be there and they   are inviting me over for a local traditional  burmes lunch this is how the hospitality in   Myanmar is so I'm going to show that to you  today it's always the best way to experience   the hospitality is by actually getting invited  to someone's home and eating food and dining   with them so that should be fun anyways I'm  going to get a taxi I'm waiting for my taxi   grab taxi shout out to grab grab does work here  in yango and me and Maro if you do come here and   you want to use grab it's the best way to get  around as it is in most places in Southeast Asia still can't get over how the driving  situation is here like the cars are built   like UK where the steering wheel is on  the right hand side but the roads are   like America where you drive on the right hand  side so it's uh very unique man I'm just like   I can't get over it it's just so funny  cuz I've never seen that before but yeah   guys we're just on our way I'm just showing  you some sites along the way to my friend's home [Music] all righty guys so I have arrived in my friend's  Village but I am not sure where his home is so   we're going to try to look for it now I think  I'm in the right area but I'm not sure so let's   find out hey laa oh what's this guys are just  playing pool over here come here wow look at   this these guys are just playing pool over  here wow that's a big table too amazing any   can't get sidetracked hello all righty H all  right so yeah this is a very interesting part   of Yangon it's more like a villagey residential  lava a lot of nice homes and uh looks like this   is probably where all the locals live out here  man this is like a Time Warp here in Asia like   you could literally feel like you're in a in  another time any let me call Chip and see if   I'm in the right area so I think I am but I'm not  sure so let's see all right guys so here I am you   guys already know him Mr chit he has actually  invited me to his home well his beautiful family   has invited me to their home so we're going  to experience local Burmese hospitality and   cuisine as well um I'm excited to try it it's  always a great way to learn about a culture is   to be invited to somebody's home and um we're  going to do that so this is your hood this is   your streets okay very nice and you've been  here your whole life yeah I I I stay in in   uh the other street but it's just like 200  M away from here okay okay and this where I   am this is where you grew up yeah all right  very nice obviously there's a bag yeah yeah   yeah cuz you uh let's see some let's see some  oh all right all right you guys don't want to   mess with Chit man he's a professional fighter  laa thank you so much for inviting me nice to   meet you nice to meet you son right here hello  he's he's busy playing games he is busy hello he's he's a bit shy no problem so have a seat  brother okay thank you so much my house pretty   small but have a see here oh no problem problem  okay thank you so much thank you so much for J   it's okay what's your name qu he does he doesn't  speak yet he doesn't speak uh how old is he he's   uh almost six six okay okay okay all right  guys so we are here in a home and I've been   invited and it's just so nice to be invited to  somebody's home um so this is how most people in   this local uh Myanmar live yeah this is most you  know it's really basic house yeah um that you know   it depends on how much money you have you know  obvious yeah but I'm saying like your average   your average person yeah I'm an average person and  So like um we stay in the small houses like story   building and for me like I have uh a like little  school up there because I have another school but   this one is for uh the little kids who are like  six seven years old here and I just uh taught in   the morning oh one section yeah we got to check  out your school too at some later on we go there   and yeah I told them we are coming we can make  some program right there awesome awesome awesome   sounds good yeah so chit is actually more than  just a tour he's he's also into education which   if you guys know my story I also be I also used  to be a teacher myself so anytime we meet uh   like other teachers we also have like that Bond of  education and so we're going to go check out his   uh his school after after in a little bit so we'll  show you that alsoa how are you what's your name   my name is CH chu chu and this is your younger  sister yeah my youngest she's 22 22 oh very nice   okay so you're not so young then yeah so you have  how many siblings I have uh three siblings three   siblings okay I'm Number Two okay and my thank  you brother actually I think that's my that's   my bottle yeah so no problem appreciate it and my  oldest sisters is like 33 33 and I'm 31 okay my   younger brother is now walking duby okay uh I'll  come sit down here with you guys yeah he's a chef   he's a chef okay and then um uh he's like 26 okay  then me okay no then then my sister younger sister   is 22 22 that's all we got okay so you got there's  three three three of you okay very nice awesome   guys so so this is and I don't make like lots of  different food because we are just and just just   like I I don't want to be like uh you know setting  up for the tourist you know you not tourist yeah   thank you brother so uh we have one main dish  which is uh beef Curry Beef Curry Beef Curry and   they first start making a paste with uh onions  and tomato okay and they just cook that paste   and they just pound it and uh cook with cook uh  the paste first and after that they put the fresh   meat in there and after that they stir it for a  long time and then I put some uh o like cooking   oil and then it becames like a magic food awes so  like we based actually like you cook also or it's   mainly your wife mainly my wife and my mom-in-law  okay and so mainly like some of the food you know   we have a different you know we have the big  culture influence from uh like uh China China   because we have China is roing Roofing our country  and also India is Roofing India and Bangladesh   also Bangladesh also so especially I would say  some of the food culture is coming from India   because I can feel like Masala and I can feel  the past it's like actually looking looking at   the curry um it is very similar to like a Indian  or a Pakistani Curry yeah when you when you taste   it you will also like okay do do burmes like the  cuisine is it spicy usually or less like not spicy   spicy but we like spicy on the side so maybe like  I'm eating this and I'll be I'll be biting the   fresh Che on okay so it's your choice yeah that's  my choice so like cuz like you know Indian Cuisine   the spices are cooked inside of the curry so it's  very spicy yeah so but we have option this just   mild this just normal and it's not spicy it's not  uh it's in the middle it's in the middle and we   put spice on the side and this looks like d uh  this yes s like it's like lentil right this is   lentil with the glass noodles okay and you see  the glass noodle oh I see the glass noodles so   that's the difference because Dal is a very common  staple food amongst most like South Asian cultures   but I've never seen it with the glass noodles that  makes you know see guys like this glass noodles is   like uh the difference between Dal is like you see  it everywhere but everybody has their own little   twist on it you know a little bit different so it  becomes like Mama food and also this one is very   very common and we say morning GL Morning Glory  Morning Glory Morning Glory the cooking style is   um the different we we stir fry it but we want  more liquid so the morning's Glory became like   softer and it's more like tender when you eat  that got it so um and also it's very flavorful   got it so so the morning glory is also very common  in Thai Thai Cuisine and Cuisine so we also like   um have some similarity with taii but I would say  more like Chinese know if you if you see this this   is like a Indian yeah and more Indian you know  this one is like Indian or like Pakistani so so   Myanmar from what I'm observing so far is like a  kind of like a combination of all of these like   Nations that are around in one even the people  you see like some people look more like Asian   some people look Southeast Asian some people look  more uh like Indian Chinese I think bro I think I   have I think I blend in here yeah like I don't  think people think I'm a for I don't think you   know because we have also some like the place that  you came and we have also some like Muslim people   has M AG you know they they are know they living  there like they think I'm a local yeah they think   your local question this one is a very famous one  this is called Napp It's Made by fish we say fish   paste and we yeah we we we eat it as a spice thing  okay and you you use it as like a sauce sauce yeah   it's like a traditional sauce it's going to beat  and then this is just like some mixed uh yeah like   Stu like it's like fried beans different beans  you can see some peanuts and also like some like   big beans and they are like fried okay and this  one is only in myar this is called Tea Leaf salad   Tea Leaf salad yeah this is fermented tea leaf  salad okay which is which you cannot get in other   country and also we put some like dry fish in the  top and is that PR like dried shrimp dried shrimp   yeah dried shrimp and also watermelon watermelon  this is tally pum candy oh you know there's a pum   pum tree but we have one kind of pum called toy  pum toy pum toy pum they get juice from the top of   the toy pum okay and then they put it in the pan  and stir it and it became thicker and thicker and   they just make a bowl with this and it's sweet so  that's like you you eat that after after and also   the watermelon is like after the food okay so  let's uh let's enjoy let's enjoy is it okay if   I just uh just take problem okay thank you so  much yeah that's all for us so I can feel like   I'm at home yeah that's it I really do thank you  thank you so much again thank you so much thank you now I have a family in my andar you see guys  that's the beauty of traveling you know when you   meet people you make family you make friends that  becomes like family so hey whoever cing to myar   you have a family yeah okay 100% guys I'm telling  you you don't have to worry actually I had a girl   messaged me she saw that I was here she's like  you better give me your tour guide's number I   said I promise you I will and he's a good guys so  trust me more people once they see these videos   you guys are going to want to come to me in Mar  and experience this culture also because you know   one thing I noticed about uh like yesterday I went  out like so after I got to the hotel I went out I   tried some food and one thing I really noticed  about me andar like the people they're they're   like very very kind and welcoming and even though  I'm like the only Foreigner there they don't treat   me like I'm Outsider they like make me feel like  I'm a part of them you know yeah that's brother   you know that that's one thing I'm so proud of  being burmes guy it's like we have kind headed and   and so that that's one of the things that I'm most  proud of definitely something that honestly like I   don't experience all the time especially in places  where you are like the only Foreigner yeah yeah   but here you don't feel like an outsider so here's  the beef Curry guys the beef Curry taste test M wow I get wow this is my yummy dance yeah yes that tastes a lot like uh  Pakistani and Indian curry but the   only difference is it's not as spicy yeah  it's a little bit less spicy yeah but so   similar guys it tastes literally like  the curry that my mom used to make m you you're a good good cook very good and you're  also having another baby congratulations how many   months uh six months 6 months so after 3 months  then and another boy or a girl girl Oney so one   boy one girl that's perfect and then no more no  more finish I hope so but yeah yeah know you don't   know sometimes God gives you yeah yeah without  it's expensive you know so M yeah I yeah expensive   that's true man everywhere that's why I don't  have kids yet I can barely take care of myself   quick Interruption from the video just wanted to  let you guys know about expressvpn so during my   time in Myanmar expressvpn came in really handy  because obviously the internet and most websites   like Facebook YouTube Instagram are blocked  because of the political situation so Express   bpn really came in handy for me I was pretty much  using it the whole time and I would say that it's   great for anyone who's in a situation like that  in a country where they can't access some of the   websites that they would like to access expressvpn  is a great great tool to override that also if you   want to just protect yourself because nowadays  hackers and these Fishers around the internet   are really stealing all of your privacy your  data your whatever you may have that you want   to protect from these people expressvpn is a great  way to do that for anybody who watches my channel   expressvpn is giving you guys 3 months free so all  you got to do is type in this link expressvpn.com   slm and you'll get 3 months free back to the video  If there's like one main dish yeah like the most   commonly eaten Burmese dish what would it be I  say chicken curry chicken curry so basally like   this and beef Curry okay beef Curry because I like  beef so beef yeah but like around the country most   people like the common dish yeah okay and also  Dal too D what do you guys call it by the way   do you call it do be B Be B Be is like Bings so  lente is a kind of Bings right yeah yeah and hand   is like Curry so say is curry behen very good Ken  k k is good good oh yeah somebody taught me that   yesterday I just I'm still learning I'm still  trying to figure out how are youa yeah like you   don't need to put like men in front of that you  know men they yeah yeah men is like you so but   if you if you say n is all good yeah no I will by  the time I leave I will be good I will know some   some burmes yeah all righty guys food has been  finished um I ate a lot thank you again um amazing   man amazing um I don't think I'm going to get a  better meal than that here in Myanmar so you guys   already raised my expectations like to here you  know so yeah man local Cuisine um but homecooked   meal there's nothing like it and the love you can  taste it and now we're going to try something that   I haven't tried before so I'm going to take this  away yeah sure thank you so much and this you just   eat it like a candy like yeah like Cy a little  by little like little by little it's going to   be a littleit sour and sweet at the same time  what is this made from I don't know it's tally   Palm juice you know it's just from Palm juice  P juice there's no any other things adding on   it okay so looks like a kind of looks like a Ube  almost like in Philippines but it's a little bit different so as you guys  can see doesn't look amazing but I haven't tried this in a long time M okay so it tastes like kind of chocolatey yeah  but at the same time it also tastes like something   that I know but I just can't think of the name  yes this tastes like almost it actually kind of   looks like it too and it makes sense cuz it  comes from a tree right so it does you know   fig oh yeah yeah I know it tastes like a fig  yeah yeah that's what it tastes like so it's   similar to Fig M I actually like it very much all  right guys so the this one was very interesting I   never tried anything like it before and I have to  try the watermelon but there was one thing that   uh chit was explaining so this is actually hello  this is uh your uh wife's mother-in-law yeah so   there was something that you were explaining just  now that I figured yeah like it's really uh since   we were young yeah and our parents uh taught us  like if you walk p in front of someone you have   to uh put your head down and walk okay and also  there's one thing like you never sit in a higher   Place higher place than so like when when your  mother-in-law was sitting down she asked you yeah   especially like for a younger person to sit in the  higher Place uh if the older person is down there   wow but uh like even even the even since you're  younger but she still asked you she still because   like it's a kind of like big respect to the people  like and is this like a religious thing or it's   more of a cultural it's more of cultural thing  we Embrace culture I'll never sit in the top uh   right there if somebody who is older than me uh  you know sitting on floor so if I sit it's okay   but they might think like I this is this is this  guy not embracing culture he's like kind of rude   yeah kind of but you know nowadays and like uh  we we still want to keep this culture although uh   the world is changing a lot developing you know  this culture were were never or should never be   disappeared they should but the problem is the  problem is in this world that we live in a lot   of these old cultures are disappearing because  every kid is on social media now and they want   to be like you know what they see rather than  embracing their own culture but I just thought   that was very interesting guys like you know those  kind of things we don't have them in the west you   know like these kind of uh signs of respect I  was just so amazed that I saw like his Elder is   asking him like is it okay if I sit there that's  why I was so curious oh there's doggo hey hello doggo so as you can see she has this beautiful  makeup yeah and you also have it no she's not   wearing it okay so I've been seeing this a lot  like basically it's like a thing that looks like   makeup that a lot of uh people not just girls but  people are wearing so this is it I would do pr K so so we have this one is called Tanaka Tanaka  it grows in the middle of Yama okay it's kind   of like we say uh Med medicinal uh like a kind  of like makeup uh traditional makeup uh plant   right yeah and which can goow in the dry area in  the middle of Yama oh wow so it's called Tanaka   Tanaka and it has a bug so this B like the the  cover like the cover of this is used as a makeup   powder okay so what we're going to do is we have  a water this is a clean water but yeah okay so we   have a Sandstone smooth off sandstone and and we  put some water in the top and if we gry you know   uh it will gry the paast came out wow so we have  to gry about 30 seconds and the paast came out so and you cannot see anywhere in the world  apart from y I've never seen this so you can   take it and it smells nice also put it on  my face yeah okay yeah I want to be local yeah nice thank you so much and is this like  a cultural thing yeah it's like a very   cultural thing I see a lot of people and is  it like a sign of beauty yeah it's like it   can it's a traditional sand cream also like  it can block the and it can uh protect from   having a face like UHS yeah getting o and lots of  like face spots that's how she still looks young   yeah yeah so so that's her secret and the smell  nice all Al also like all right guys as you can   see I got my traditional makeup on I'm ready  to go thank you again thank you so much thank you how do you say bye in uh burmes Tata right  Tata Tata and you can also say byebye bye-bye   okay tata bye-bye so we're going to go to a  local tea house now and experience now the   rain has started as you can see it's been  raining here every day it is rainy season   so it only makes sense but that doesn't stop  us and doesn't rain on our parade we're going   to keep going put on before we go to the tea  house we're going to put on some traditional   Lungi yeah L and you can put it down there  or okay just get there okay and what you do   is you hold to the east side and put your time  put your time and then fold it like that like   this like this this take a little bit more  take a little bit more okay and then you   this like fluff it yeah yeah and then tie it  tie it tie another tie other side and uh let   the right finger go and then grab from the left  side grab this yeah and Twi okay this and this   yeah you did a bad job brother thank you okay  I okay you got to do okay okay all right ooh [Applause] ooh hey wow so guys not only is chit a tour  guide but if you're with him you don't   have to worry he can kick anybody's ass  all right let's go let's get up in the rain so what's the name of this uh neighborhood it's  called Aya Aya Aya is it's close to where we were   yesterday right yeah it's state in North okapa  okay and so and from the best station it's like   considered a village no we say like it's a little  town little town okay yeah but for you guys it's   going to be like Village it's still looks like  a town cuz there's so many shops and this is my   Baba hello Baba um yeah it still looks like  a town cuz there's so many shops I've been   to Villages and there's nothing you know it's  just uh farms and Rice Terraces and that stuff   so so here we go here it is we have arrived  laa all right here we are guys at the local   tea house here can we sit here all right great  so this is what a local Tea House in me looks likea how old are you look at this we got a nice doggo sitting right   next to us that's my boy that's your  boy all right so so what kind of tea uh what kind of tea do you guys usually drink  here I would say it's like Indian culture tea   okay Indian culture tea is it's not with milk it's  with milk oh so it's like yeah yeah CH yeah yeah   yeah it's with condensed milk condensed milk  so it's a little bit sweet yeah but it's it's   really popular here every almost everyone well  would drink like one or two cup of teas a day okay it's the chai he's  making the chai waa the chai master so there's a condens milk in the bottom  yeah and if you stare and it's uh goes all over   and and and also it's really really tasty really  tasty try it so one thing uh I noticed about this   tea right from the get I mean I've tried tea in  Bak tea is a very big thing in our culture uh in   Pakistani culture so I grew up seeing people  drinking tea but this one is very strong as   you can see the color is very pronounced of  the tea you can see how they must use a lot   of tea rather than more milk so I think it's  a little bit of milk and more tea cheers my brother M very sweet no yeah one you might  not be addicted yeah two or three times it's   like it's like a drug it's like a drug yeah you  would be addicted no to be honest with you I've   always been a coffee drinker because in America  Coffee is the most popular thing and one for one   for the Dogo let's watch it he's going to drink  his tea also that's so funny I've never seen a   dog enjoy tea yeah this this guy is different  this guy's built different he belongs here at   the Tea House tea is amazing and how much do  you pay for a tea like this here in a coffee shop 700 700 is going to be about like 20 cents  yeah 25 cent 25 cent 25 cent 25 cents man you   can't go wrong with that yeah 25 cents is is a  good quality and it's a good quality you can see   from the tea itself yeah but this is awesome  man getting this local uh Burmese experience   here in mymar like real tea this is a real  tea house you're not going to get this at Starbucks yeah I have like uh now over 120  students in my school so each and every of   them educated and each and every of them have a  English education uh with the cheaper amount of   money that I told you like I charge like uh only  like at $10 even less than $10 for the whole month   okay and then if they get older and if they have  a good education if they can speak English yeah we   can change we can do a big change so you don't you  don't have the desire to leave Myanmar as fast as   you can not for now not for now not for now but if  you lose hope then obviously yeah of course do you   still have hope uh yeah we do hope yeah we do hope  you know like in life bad thing and good things   happen uh in in in a turn you know yeah like after  bad things good thing will come after good things   bad thing will come so it's a c yeah it's a cycle  so good things will come good things will come uh   for sure do you think the people of Myanmar have  hope for their country everyone's have hope you   know like and yeah of course like sometimes you  people very tired like like because they don't   earn much they don't earn as much as they walk for  yeah but you know we love me I love is beautiful   there's a lot of Pride there's a lot of Pride  and that's one thing I'll be honest guys that I   noticed is that the people of Myanmar even though  the situation in the country is tough um people   are resilient uh they're strong they're strong  minded and strong willed and they're hardworking   so that's it guys that's the little T Tea House  experience there um so the tea cost for both of   us like literally 80 cents for two amazing uh Cups  of Tea and and plus pissed cup of tea and he's   sleeping now so this is a common delicacy here  in um in Myanmar it's called beta Leaf bet Leaf   yeah bet leaf and what is inside like tobacco  so this one this one is the leaf right there um this one is the leaf right there it's called  be leaf and it grows in the B like the lower part   of my okay and and where there are lots of rain  and beet leaf and what they do is they put lime   you know like addable lime lime liquid in the  in the top of that okay oh this is made from   line yeah and also this one is a Bea Nets it's  coming from the palm tree the Nets and they make   it softer by putting inside this inside the  water water okay and then uh they have some   tobac right here tobacco okay and which is which  we can buy from IND chewing tobacco yeah chewing   tobacco India's uh a lot they have a lot they have  something called B yeah B yeah the same thing we   say gu gu and they just roll it up rolling it  up like that and and uh we just put it in the   mouth and chew it chew it and it's does it give  you like a buzz like a tobacco little bit of a   tobacco buz cigarette okay it's like a cigarette  yeah it's like a cigarette but you know like every   200 M you have this you have this and and this  is what makes your mouth like red right yeah   like my teeth red but you know if I go out from  the country and walk and I just brush my teeth   and my teeth get back to the but some people  can come back cuz they some people can come   back you know I I am I'm Different okay I don't  want one but you can I don't really chew this stuff I say can I pay later and he say oh yeah  that's awes right yeah you can pay later how   much for one at this for 500 500 is like I 15  cent 15 cent okay no no thank you okay thank   you so then you just chew it like that okay guys  this has been just a little uh local experience   that I wanted to give you but mainly to show you  how the hospitality of uh people here in Me and   Mar is and it's been absolutely wonderful time  thank you so much I'm going to wrap this video   up guys a lot more videos from me andar coming  so stay tuned don't forget to subscribe like   comment share all of that fun stuff and remember  continue to learn continue to grow and there is   no growth until you leave your comfort zone  I'll see you guys on the next one peace out
