I Visited Myanmar in 2023

okay I'm ready to introduce my new friend hi Luke yo what's up what did you think when I messaged you and I was like hey I'm an American dude I want to come to Myanmar okay to be honest like I was so surprised and excited because like Garrix know foreign this is Myanmar I've always wanted to come here but right now the country is at War [Music] yeah nice to meet you this is James he grew up here in Myanmar after a lot of discussing we determined that there was a way for me to come visit and film The Experience despite the vigorous Travel warnings provided we meticulously plan where we went what we said and how we said it I set off to yanga and Myanmar with just my iPhone to document the experience oh this is my place nice so there are some places we definitely can't visit yeah but there are places that we should be safe yeah I hope we can move freely around the country but there will be some registrations in some places well to be honest I feel a little bit nervous but at the same time yeah I'm ready I'm I am excited I'm excited I'm a little uh Navas a little nervous but I'm excited ready to go the first day of our journey after finally finding a bus company that accepted foreigners we sat on our way to the capital city of Myanmar not be though let's do this right yeah sure we're officially doing it after six hours on the road and numerous stops of military checkpoints along the way we arrived safely to the Capitol actually I think we're the only two percent in this world I feel like uh we are renting the whole thing there were only a few hotels to choose from all of which were high-end and quite expensive it was almost like we were the first guests this hotel had in weeks I don't know if this is appropriate to say but this place this place is weird man yeah very very we're caught in some bad traffic right now absolutely no one [Music] what's been stated as the strangest city in the world the vibe of napido is unlike anything I've ever experienced foreign [Music] very confusing yeah yeah you guys speak English no you live here pretty tense I told you there is not much to see around here in this no I mean it's interesting it's a little creepy but it's interesting let's just go to bed yeah let's just end this day we're ending this day it's done so how has your life changed in the last two years figuring out what should I do next what's my future I stopped my education and I was a second year student studying the science the situation and the clinician shifted me shifted my life somehow so I need to rewrite my plans and the future I don't even know what it is that I'm trying to rewrite thank you since the coup the government has implemented a national nightly curfew that everyone must follow at all costs you look fire but despite these strict curfew restrictions nightlife culture continues okay so we gotta Pace ourselves then yeah okay [Music] I guess this is our home for the next seven hours yeah probably seven hours yeah cheers have you ever been locked inside a club all night without any Escape possible it didn't seem okay to let loose in these conditions but this is the reality none of these buses are accepting foreigners I was constantly told that I was the first Foreigner seen in the country in years and for a country that spent the decade building up its bright and exciting tourism industry the effects of the last few years were painfully obvious only ones at this entire place a country once frequented by Gap year Backpackers left with absolutely no one we are heading to the Imlay Lake which is surrounded by big mountains and yeah are you happy to be here yeah I thought I'm in high school and actually when I was in I didn't even know what is the meaning of the poem but I grew up I understand what it means what is this life a full of care we have no time to stand and stir no time to stand beneath the box and stir as long as sheep or comes no time to see one moves we pass when squirrels hike their necks in Grass no time to see in broad daylight strings Full of Stars like skies at night hello what is this place it's kind of homestays and they've got some bread Forex for dinner no time to tan at Judy's lengths and watch her feed how big and tanks I'm so ready for the one look at you no time to wait till her mouth can Irish Ducks Minds our eyes begin foreign I'm so happy for them too so James yeah you've been traveling for like a little bit over a week now yeah what do you yeah how do you feel do you like uh traveling around like this moving from place to place yeah I'd really like um it's my kind of dream so I really love to jump from Place places well in that case let's go let's go let's get a move on we then headed to began which was once the most famous tour assassination of the country I had the idea to track up the volcano and James couldn't have been more excited but for me as I reflected on what I'd experienced in the weeks prior on all the scenes that I didn't film the conversations that I won't publicize they brought out emotions in me that I've never really experienced before I'm lying so do you spend a lot of time thinking about your future sometimes yes sometimes I feel like I don't know what to do next I don't have any energy and courage to keep going forward I don't even see no light in the future in my future so yeah I'm really worried about it sometimes I'm trying my best in the present even though some things are out of my control I was born here and I've known twice at the same time like uh future is out of your control of my hands so the only thing I can handle right now is surprising thank you I think an idea come on let's go let's go what's the point of living if we are constantly busy and occupied with responsibilities worries and concerns about everything [Music] without ever taking the time to simply enjoy and appreciate our surroundings and nature yeah why not this is my very first time we need to enjoy every single moment if we don't have enough time to take a moment to Simply standister and observe the beauty of the wall were you flying if we don't have enough time to do that our life will be a poor one do you feel about the last three weeks I'm always amazing three weeks in my entire life who I like this is full of care we have no time to stand and stuff
