I really really really really like how they sound I think they sound so cool so laidback so just so easy to listen to and then the way they're just going and going and going and going and going when they're like rhyming I think it's amazing hi I'm Archie I'm Molly and as you can tell from my Christmas sweater today Molly will be reacting to Enter the wuang 36 Chambers you have your Christmas sweater on as well I do yeah what do you have it says let's get baked with uh two gingerbread men what do you know about wuang Clan I know cream oh you know cream I know cream and that's it it was released in November 2 or sorry released in 1993 so it's been 30 years oh wow yeah yeah it was his 30th anniversary just recently and uh November 1993 was regarded as one of the best hip-hop months oh W of of all time because it came out actually on the same day as uh Midnight Marauders by a CH Called Quest so these two are like two huge influential hip-hop albums and then like two weeks later uh Snoop Dog doggy style his first Al came out yeah PR cool yeah so I'm curious to see what you think of this album um production wise rapping wise is is completely different from from I want to say completely different maybe you'll hear some of the influences and some of the albums that we've covered already um but we'll talk more after the first song so I think we'll just get right into it so style bring it all all right that was bring to Ruckus it's very different to what we've been listening to yeah um not in a bad way I feel like this it kind of felt like being in our room with them because their production is so different yeah cuz it's kind of it's much emptier MH it's much like obviously you can do way more was like the technology that we have now it's more gritty yeah um so yeah that's actually why it's uh very influential is because um because of the sound M so uh the Rizza the Rizza is um he's pretty much like the architect of the I don't want to say the leader but I guess he would be the leader he makes all the Beats um I like the the the talking Sor yeah before that reminded me of yeah exactly like kind of like a sample in the back kind of talking yeah um yeah he used um kind of older equipment to record all of this all his Beats um is very influential in that he samples a lot of uh Soul music in the songs and um as you can tell obviously from the name as well um he samples a lot of like Kung Fu movies yeah yeah so the bhang clan are all they like they love their kung fu movies they like playing chess yeah so you're going to hear a lot of that in the in the album that's really cool yeah this was like 1993 MH at this point um I guess you wouldn't know this but uh Dr J's music kind of like the West Coast sound was the biggest was kind of like the popular sound in hip-hop and then wuang Clan came out with this grer kind of New York cuz they're from Staten Island New York you got that in the sound yeah so they kind of paved the way or helped lead the way for kind of the reemergence of New York rap so like NS followed after this like a NS mob deep you know uh Biggie wuang or sorry not wuang Jay-Z so yeah it kind of helped put East Coast uh rap back on the map uh and a lot of just like the lyrics are mostly like battle raps um bragado docious type stuff what's a battle rap battle rap just basically like like saying I'm better than you I'm the best you're you're whack or whatever well once we do a bit more of the '90s rap it's mostly mostly about lyrics and the beats are very simple because yeah the emphasis is more on the on the lyrics now that's why I it's it's more stripped back yeah it's way more stripped back and way more like you said about the lyrics it's super different to what we've lyrics and flow or whatever technique but like nowadays you can incorporate so much more I think musically I guess because of Technology the mixing as well I'm not going to like quiz you on who's your favorite rapper at the end of this because there just there's too many names but if you know certain voices will stick out I think um and yeah as I was kind of looking at the lyrics as this was going through I was like damn um there might be some things that you're going to miss because the slang I actually wanted to say that yeah um I feel like there are going to be like cultural references and and words and stuff that go from my head so if some stuff comes up and you're kind of curious just let me know yeah otherwise um otherwise yeah we'll uh we'll move on to the next track M I'm not allowed to say it so we'll just that one features uh rayquan older bastard and Method Man all three of those put out solo albums rayquan put out an album called um only build for Cuban links which is uh widely regarded as one of the best albums of all time wow yeah just albums in general or rap albums I mean you put in both I guess rap albums for sure and that one was very um influential because that one Incorporated a lot of like mafioso gangster type Persona personas I guess um so like rappers like NS toward P Jay-Z they followed suit as well like they kind of had like NS became like Nas Escobar and uh theb was like Frank White and so they kind of embodi this this other persona kind of these alter egos yeah olderly bastard he was uh he had quite the solo career he had a few hits um guys that's I don't know if you know that song baby I got your money I'm not sure no okay and uh he's had a uh his debut album was pretty legendary he had like songs like Brooklyn Zoo shimmy shim ya oh I know that one he do yeah interesting I'm sure I do okay so the rizer produced that album as well he was on Mariah care Song Fantasy remix and uh Method Man I think he would I don't want to say biggest star he might be the biggest star like he's been in movies and stuff and he's had a a pretty successful solo career as well okay so we just move on to the next song called cllean in the front which uh features versus from just dissing them like damn um um but uh well I like most is how S I think sonically it's just really it's just really nice it's just really nice to listen to It's very laidback it just sounds very cool MH I like it a lot so that one features jiza I really like jiza yeah so jiza Rizza and old dir mastered were kind of like the core okay uh I think they started as a group doing something else in the 80s and then they were kind of like on and on off on again off again kind of thing and then uh yeah then they did the wuang clan so jiza actually has a classic himself oh an album called Liquid to right which is great in my eyes and that lends to uh rizza's production um he's his style has kind of influenced a lot of uh current producers right now obviously like Kanye West Kanye has publicly said that Rizza has influenced his production style uh The Alchemist he also um has been inspired by Rizza um but yeah great I like the samples you're using the the Pian in oh yeah I really like the coming up so um this features pretty much everybody except like I said Milla and uh yeah okay smoke all the like smoking the H raing hell with the flavor terrorize the dam like truths in Pakistan swinging through your town like your neighborhood Spiderman tick tock I get youing off the kicking the way make the [Music] go got it going call me the rap assassinator R rugging and built like schwarzer [ __ ] and I'mma get mad deep like a threat blow up your project then take all your asset man for short map move it on your set it all get it off let it off I take game and blow that [ __ ] their money together recorded the song yeah for their a lot of references in that references I actually understood so that was nice yeah yeah really enjoyed it cool it's kind of winding down here we narrative um like you said dark subject matter uh obviously the rest of it is kind of dark but it's more playful and yeah whereas this one like graphic and yeah yeah it's it's dark but right comical this wasn't comical yeah I feel like the rest of it is kind of like violent in a kind of like Quinton Tarantino type uh movie kind of Quinton Tarantino type style I guess kind of like over the top but like it's masterful and kind of like funny okay so we're going to move on to the next song which is the last one it's called wuang it's the seventh chamber but it's part two okay okay oh yeah good all right peace peace peace it's our secret never teach the wuang so that one was pretty much just like a remix yeah I was wondering like was it cuz I know a lot of the lyrics were the same were they all the same or was it was all the same it was just a different beat be sign was different it was really good but uh really enjoyed it yeah I really really enjoyed this whole album I know I didn't have really have much to say like there was not much for me to like analyze like not because of the songs themselves but just yeah cuz a lot of this stuff goes over my head yep and it's you know mostly like violence and seeing what you're going to do to someone and you're better than someone the the like sonically I thought it was it's so good it's just so so good to listen to it it's like I could just put this on and listen to it it it's so good just sounds so good yeah I just really really enjoyed it I thought it was so good cool yeah was it any different from what you kind of expecting kind of going in or or anything like that I'm not sure cuz I feel like like with cream like I didn't know the lyrics I like I only know the lyrics in the chorus and the rest I just like it because of how it sounds yeah I feel like that's the same for most of this album um I obviously wasn't expecting like like obviously I don't expect the production to be similar to what you would hear nowadays right but the production was actually really really good like so good I really loved all the samples I didn't know about the like the Kung Fu and I have no idea about that I really love those samples um with the talking and stuff I thought those were so good yeah and yeah the Pats were just so good I I I don't know why I expected I expected it also to be much more stripped back which it was um I didn't I didn't know if I would enjoy it that much and I really did I thought it was so good I was I was ready to be kind of like okay well like I get it it's super influential whatever but I prefer to like newer stuff yeah yeah because it's got like so much more in it I guess like whatever but no I I think like I I appreciate that on the same level for different reasons sweet I thought it was so good I really enjoyed it anything like stand out to any of the rappers would you say like um Old Dirty Bastard yeah he's definitely one of one um I think jiza yeah yeah I think those were the that's funny those are my two favorites oh no way you know here was the one that was only in one of the tracks Milla yeah he was really good he offered some good lyricism for sure I really like that song that he was in yeah he's definitely more prominent in the like following albums as I said he was kind of like the newer guy in the group there's a 10th member named Kaa Don he was uh introducing the Later album as well yeah I'm going to definitely cover a few more '90s albums uh kind of like different sides of hip-hop um but definitely a classic very influential as I said earlier I can see the influence for sure yeah yeah so I'm not really sure when this will be released if it's before I mean pretty I'm pretty sure it's going to be released Before Christmas um don't know if there's going to
