My Version of Ash's Kanto Journey (First Season of Pokemon)

the first season of pokemon everybody knows these first classic 80 episodes that follow ash from getting a disobedient pikachu to competing in the indigo league however in this video i'll be going over my version of what the entire first season would look like if i was a show writer yeah let's just roll with that and if by chance you've seen this video it will not feature the same kanto team as what you're about to watch will take place in an entirely different timeline before we start if you like what you see in this video then consider clicking that red button right above all my videos you know the one i'm talking about and i'll just appreciate it since we're almost 3 000 away from 100k which still has my head processing as i can't thank you guys enough but with that all said let's get right into the video we start on episode one where ash still oversleeps and gets his choice of squirtle taken by gary oak his rival luckily professor oak is a backup pokemon and that's a pikachu that he gives to ash but with one small problem he's kind of a dick ash still drags pikachu away but the first change comes when he ends up finding a pidgey right outside of pallet town in the original timeline ash almost catches pidgey but instead it breaks out of its pokeball and runs away but what if this never happened and instead pidgey gets captured ash will still get in way over his head by now attempting to catch a spearow which of course goes terribly wrong i take it you know what happens next ash steals a bike which turns out to be misty's almost dies before he doesn't and then he gains the trust of his electric rat after getting a glimpse of the legendary bird you know being ho-oh now we're in the second episode however this is where things change some more and i think for good team rocket still invades the viridian pokemon center like in the original timeline it meets ash but now ash will send out his pidgey to battle ekkans and coughing instead which in the end doesn't really go well jesse and james end up leaving the pokemon center with some stolen pokemon while paying no attention to ash they then leave iranian city and do not follow ash for the next 20 years but misty oh you know she's mad as she still lectures ash into following him around kanto until she gets her bike back and that's that ash and misty leave meridian city with the pokemon center still intact as they now travel through viridian forest where ash still comes across a caterpie but doesn't decide to catch it as ash now has some sort of ego after making his first capture this sadly means we don't get to see metapod versus metapod but we do get to see ash's first gym battle of course being against the brock at pewter gem ash's pidgey puts up a fight against geodude but only leaves a scratch as he's not very effective pikachu almost straight up dies before ash surrenders and later has the help of flynn and supercharging his pikachu um yeah all it does is teach pikachu thunderbolt ash goes for his rematch but the battle still gets interrupted all the same by the building's internal sprinkler system ash will still end up forfeiting which will still give brock the courage to follow alongside ash after rewarding him the boulder badge out of pity of course but in the very next episode ash will catch his third pokemon that being a clefairy red as he finds it in the original timeline this almost happens but ash is stopped by seymour but i guess in my timeline he's just a little too late now that ash has three pokemon it's time for his gym battle with misty and since we don't have team rocket here to get in the way we can actually see a proper gym battle against dash and misty misty still uses her staru but since ash doesn't have butterfree he goes with this pidgey who shockingly does well against staryu but the battle ends up in a double knockout misty now sends out her starmie as ash sends out his pikachu but he still refuses to battle misty which leaves ash no other choice than to use clefairy for the first time in battle ash instructs kulfari to use a move but it just bounces around aimlessly not even knowing how to battle misty laughs as she orders her starmie to use tackle which hits kofari directly clefairy immediately gets angry and starts to use metronome ash is confused at this point but it's already too late clefairy used explosions cerulean city experiences an earthquake as misty calls off the battle after seeing her starmie fainted claiming ash has the winner and rewarding him the cascade badge a few episodes later and we get to meet a bulbasaur that gets in the way of ash and misty fighting to catch an oddish in my timeline bulbasaur will still be offered to ash but since team rocket doesn't show up trying to steal all the hidden villages pokemon their battle happens right away and it's during this battle where bulbasaur gains some respect for ash eventually being defeated and then captured charmander still gets introduced and then eventually captured after being saved from the rain in my version as well but the story with squirtle is where we're presented with some more changes since meowth isn't here to team up with the squirtle squad and kidnapping everybody and holding them for ransom ash's only encounter with the squirrel squad is that when he falls for one of their pranks but they will still quickly dip when the feds come this means that ash now makes his way towards vermilion without catching a squirtle but don't start typing out your comments yet escorter will still admire ash from the brief encounter they had and squirter will ditch his squad as he begins to follow ash wanting to be caught but not revealing himself yet ash brock and misty now travel farther down route 25 and it's here where they come upon a beach this is the beach where ash meets crabby and catches it but in my timeline ash will actually get to battle crabby using his pidgey who's been basically well trained by this point grabbing becomes ash 6 pokemon meaning he doesn't immediately get transferred to oak's lab and gets to stay on ash's team but once ash actually makes it to vermilion is when we get to see his gym battle with lieutenant serge nothing really noticeably changes here you know pikachu still slaps away at thunderstone and somehow stays unaffected but that's before winning ash the gym badge by beating a raichu and ultimately deciding to stay a pikachu but something to point out in my version ash is a lot more reliant on his other pokemon which means he now uses krabby as his first choice in battle but knowing the type match up its first battle sadly becomes his first loss and it's a pretty bad one oh poor krabby without still in vermilion it's time for him to board the ssn but in my version he'll actually have to buy the tickets and that's because team rocket isn't here to give them their free tickets cool oh yeah speaking of team rocket a bunch of grunts still ambushed the ship as that was always going to happen but since ash doesn't have to trade back his butterfree he'll actually make it off the ship before it sinks and it's through the help of squirtle who comes to ash's rescue and brings him back to land brock and misty also end up surviving if any of you were concerned there for a little the three now find themselves stranded but in walking distance of saffron city not to forget asheville realized that squirtle had been following him and finally adds him to his team but squirtle is ash's seventh pokemon meaning that he's the one who gets transferred over to professor oaks ash is furious and as soon as he reaches saffron he'll contact professor oak and trade out his krabby for his newly caught squirtle i also forgot to mention this but since ash never gets stranded out at sea with team rocket we don't get to see stuff like the island of giant pokemon james's questionable outfits and misty catching horsey and this now means we arrive super quickly ash's gym battle with sabrina the gym battle though plays out just as disturbing as it was in the main series and yes her album will still evolve in a kadabra however it's in my timeline where ash doesn't forfeit and uses everything he has in order to win and cadabra actually gets weakened and is switched out for her mr mime ash doesn't know what to do as mr mine wipes the rest of his team after losing ash will still be humiliated while trying to figure out that psychic types are weak to ghosts what a surprise with that out of the way we now get to see the three travel to lavender town everybody let's hold hands and stay together making it to the pokemon tower we don't get to see ash get crushed by a giant chandelier and instead he keeps his cool and tries to catch the haunter since that's what he came for but haunter just thinks that ash is playing around with it and chooses to follow him instead as he thinks ash is funny ash will somehow lead haunter back over to saffron for his rematch with sabrina the battle is just as you remember with haunter disappearing seconds before the battle begins but ash is still rewarded the marsh badge after haunter shows back up and makes sabrina laugh but it's in the very next episode where we still get introduced to manky but since james isn't here to kick the pokemon mickey will not suddenly evolve in a primate which means that ash actually has a chance to battle it and instead of catching a primate he catches manky but since ash has a full team of six it's off to professor oaks ash and friends now arrive at salad on city and here ash gets a little cocky when challenging erica but once they finally begin their battle we'll get to see the whole thing as we don't have team rocket here to get in the way and start a fire after defeating oliver pokemon ash is legitimately given the rainbow badge he notices something his pidgey starts to glow and evolves in the pidgeot ash is amazed as that's the first time he gets to see one of his pokemon evolve the next change involves the pokemon grand prix where normally primate gets entered and then stolen by anthony after winning the whole tournament but in my timeline ash doesn't even consider entering his manky as he thinks is too weak with no grand prix the three now pass through grinchy city with ash still catching a muck who really doesn't smell all that good so we'll just move on and now the three find themselves lost that's until coming upon a dojo in the middle of the woods using proper logic they break in but doing that they discovered that this is the fuchsia gem ash and koga's battle now begins and plays out as it normally does ending with ash receiving the soul badge with only two badges left to earn ash rushes to find the next gem which results in him skipping over the safari zone meaning no 30 tauros in this timeline but i think it's best that ash just stayed away from that place but ash will still take his time to help out nurse joy in fixing her pokeball transport in my version team rocket will still kidnap a porygon and go inside the internet being the ones hacking the transport but ashbrock and misty will still go inside after them with a porygon of their own after defeating team rocket being the second time they meet ash porygon will then approach for a battle with ash then battling and catching the porygon as he'll find the pokemon to be extremely cool also ash catching porygon means we don't have to see pikachu blow up missiles and cause worldwide panic but ash will quickly contact professor oak and transfer in his clefairy fourth porygon since ash hasn't really been using clefairy lately after a few episodes of filler we arrive at a carnival where ash's charmander evolves in the charmeleon after taking down a group of rampaging exeggutor but in my timeline ash has used charmander a lot more in battle meaning he doesn't start to disobey ash after evolving but when ash arrives at grandpa canyon team rocket isn't here to start blowing things up meaning the prehistoric pokemon never get woken up and the only thing that ash does here is dig for fossils this also means that togepi's egg never gets discovered which is kind of depressing our next change involves bulbasaur and it's once he finds himself at the bulbasaur garden in the normal timeline bulbasaur refuses to evolve and i believe that bulbasaur didn't want to evolve because the saaho charmander began disobeying ash after evolving but since charming obeys ash in my version bulbasaur won't hold back his evolution evolving into an ivysaur after more filler ash and friends arrive on cinnabar island where ash begins to battle with blaine instead of going for the horn ash is able to take out his first two pokemon using squirtle but when magmar gets sent out as blaine's last pokemon ash sends out his charmeleon and even as a charmeleon magmar still ends up getting beaten pretty badly rewarding ash the volcano badge but after the battle is over ash notices that his charmeleon is starting to glow meaning it's evolution and the charizard ash can't believe it as he now has a fully obedient charizard on his team a few episodes later and the group will stumble upon a gang of clefairy that come from outer space everything in this episode plays out normally except ash will find a moonstone and proceeds to steal it from the group of clefairy ashnow makes it to viridian city to hopefully win his last gem badge but when he challenges the viridian gem he'll actually face off against giovanni and he'll lose right away after going up against his mysterious psychic-type pokemon after his unfortunate loss he'll challenge giovanni for a rematch but ash will find that giovanni had left his gym to jesse and james ash defeats them like in the normal timeline and gets rewarded the earth match by doing so now being able to enter the indigo league ash wants to catch some more pokemon which seems to be perfect timing as ash will now be approached by mr mime which normally happens but after defeating mr miami in a battle ash catches the psychic type but it's often professor oaks as ash has a full team speaking of professor oak in the very next episode we get to see everyone again at oak's lab even gary who challenges ash to a battle and you know with no team rocket here we actually get to see a full battle gary is shown to be tough and owns some pretty powerful pokemon pretty early on and when the final one one-on-one comes down the charizard vs blastoise it won't really end so well for ash this time it's not long after though when mewtwo still escapes from the team rocket headquarters and still invites ash and friends to new island where they're still gonna get their pokemon stolen but after getting their memories erased bash will eventually make it to the indigo plateau where he prepares to battle in the indigo league by now having his clefairy transferred over instead of his krabby and yes ash uses the moonstone on clefairy causing its evolution in the clefable we started the first round where it's still against mandy but clefable is the one to go up against mandy's pokemon but much to ash's surprise it has actually learned how to battle and ends up doing really well advancing him to round two ash will still breathe through a second round using squirtle but things change in my timeline as his next opponent is actually revealed to be gary oak ash will still accept the battle but is super nervous their battle begins the next day with ash's three pokemon revealed to be pidgeotto charizard and pikachu while gary's lineup consists of nidoking arcanine and blastoise just like their battle at the lab it's rough and for ash but pidgeotto is actually able to take down blastoise and actually evolves at the end of the battle but faints right after leaving only charizard versus arcanine the clash of the two powerful fire types is felt across the entire stadium but charizard is unfortunately the first one to fall leaving gary to advance to the next round while ash unfortunately loses placing him in the top 32 ash is obviously still devastated about his loss but chooses to support gary along during his next battle and that's against a young trainer named richie he has some weak pokemon though so gary has no problem and advancing to the top 16 where he'll now face off against jeanette which actually doesn't end at all in gary's favor as her level 100 bell sprout takes out even gary's strongest pokemon gary now places in the top 16 and the league ends as it normally does with ash being able to recover from his loss and his hopes held high let's still set back off to pallet town for a party where professor oak still has a surprise waiting for him but that's a story for
