My Save File Died • Ep.2 (Act 1) Baldur's Gate 3 Honour Mode Playthrough

hello hello welcome in everyone I am sir bogit and this is the second episode of our Series where we will be playing balers Gate 3 on honor mode for the first time so this is a new level of difficulty for the game that was introduced with patch 5 uh and as of the today as of now it's been it's only been out for a few days so it's completely new to me and I think to a lot of people as well uh and I learned in episode one that you can't load at all like you cannot reload the game at all and it's essentially something like a perade death run where if you hit a state of game over uh the honor mode run is done the game will allow you to continue in custom game mode but it will not count for um getting the achievement so to speak of completing an honor mode run so it's pretty it's it's pretty exciting um and and if you want to watch what happened in episode one the video link should be in the description and hopefully by the time I'm posting this I would have remembered to make a playlist for this series as well uh and you can look there um but otherwise if you're ready to jump into episode two with us get some snacks get some drinks and get comfy uh because we're going to go going to roll right into it and uh and get started because this game at least for me when how I play it it's it's it's a long journey so uh I hope that you will enjoy the ride as much as I am enjoying it uh but yeah just to recap quickly what happened in episode one um it was the start of the run so we of course did the uh the whole nautiloid tutorial bits uh so we we managed to escape the nautiloid and we've picked up all our companions that we can um which are Gail Lazelle asarian and shadowart is chilling somewhere there uh there she is um and we've also met up with Withers in the Crypt at the beginning of the uh game um we've cleared out the whole Crypt and he's now chilling with us in Camp we've respected our characters a little bit so I how I generally play the game I've only completed the game fully twice so it's not like I have a ton of experience it's just that I'm quite uh I'm very much a speed player so I take my time with things so it takes me a long time to finish one full playthrough that being said I have rerolled uh a multitude of times and escaped the noroid a multitude of times but I've always just hit the beach and then rerolled again um but yes we did that bit we've cleared the beach we've cleared the Crypt and so now we are about to enter into the sort of like Emerald Grove kind of territory uh We've long rested once we've done one long rest uh and now we've just woken up and we're in Camp so let's get ready for the day uh and we'll do this fight so when I started this in the last session and when I first saw the the explanation for Honor mode I clearly did not understand or I missed the bit completely where you couldn't reload a safe State um just to kind of demonstrate what that's like if you hit load game you just cannot load game uh just it's just not allowed uh which is the whole challenge of Honor mod which is great uh it's definitely something new for me as someone who definitely subscribes to um safe scumming to your heart's Delight because I think everyone deserves to kind of enjoy and play games the way they want to enjoy and play games so there's nothing wrong with saves coming in my books uh but this is an interesting challenge in that aspect uh for someone who uh makes quite a habit of of doing it so we'll see how this plays out um I I was very nervous in the first episode and I I have to say that I'm not any less nervous now so especially for a a a big fight that's this big fight that's coming up um I really hope I think I actually don't know this hang on let me finish this buffing business laelle has a dangerous look in her eyes oops let's just hope she reserves those impulses for any common foes oh did I not speak to them after recruiting LEL Oh my days I I guess I forgot about that um I'll do the I'll do the speaking after this B here um and I've completely lost my train of B but anyway is that blood we'll just get on with it no never mind a GU Yankee joining our company what a collaboration I'd have anticipated but a welcome one nonetheless the yelling in the background just aidin going off at Zevo um I am enjoy the latest addition to our little group lasel is delightful in a very look at me twice and I'll dismember you kind of way of course estaran um yeah I was uh it's pretty nerve-wracking for to take this on I uh I find it weird to call myself a challenge Runner even though I technically am uh or at least with other games I've done challenge runs uh but I've definitely not challenged run this game so we'll see this is this is a fun one for me and it also kind of it's going to help me kind of curb not that saves coming is a bad thing again but uh it would be good to kind of it's a good way to kind of um be able to experience the game without doing that so uh yeah here we go okay so okay I've I've climbed back onto the train of thought that I had lost um oh God they're really desperate to get in um I don't know so Will's going to pop out here the blade of Frontiers and if he perishes during this fight I actually don't know if you can revive him so that's going to be my main concern here to be honest uh because I can revive any one of us and as long as it's like not a total party knockout um we'll be fine otherwise this will make for a very short second episode and very short playthrough uh so my main concern is keeping will alive actually because I do want to given the new patch the down given the new patch uh I do want to experience the epilog with as many companions as I can so it would be great to um keep everyone alive and not just the epilot but just in general the rest of the game as well uh so yeah let's see uh here goes let's jump into it can they get a little bit closer nope I think not no open the bloody Gates nobody gets in zor's orders that pack of goblins will be on us any second what's going on goblins are on our tail open the gates zor now you let goblins here where is the Druid please there's no time by the nine Hells open the gates [Music] Canon no [ __ ] form line damnable Roach provoke the blade and suffer it sting and here we go okay oh that is actually a really good like awesome initiative roles here um I think the last time I did this fight my the initiative rolls were like terrible so okay um let's see I think I can actually get Gail to throw this void bulb here if he can just get around and he can and we're going to kind of uh let me turn on the Highlight here um we're going to just kind of pull them all into one spot and away from kind of closer to us I suppose does this not show who it's going to capture I think it'll be fine like this yeah oh he's saved okay but that's fine we got everyone else so lovely that's good and then we're going to do a sneak attack on this tracker I do want to get rid of this booy here ooh okay yeah I do want to get rid of the booy there so let let's try this let's play all right that's fine will take [Music] it okay Redemption exists uh all right Shadow Hearts we'll see what this is looking like 65% for that okay I think we're going to try to get Shadow heart to be the one to kind of Target this boy oh she can okay that's actually pretty good let's do that feel my mistress is r o all right well you win some you lose some nice oh here comes the buff let's get this open my shots have La okay my turn um again we're going to try to get rid of this booy here he still has a significant amount of Health going no matter which move I have actually it's not going to be able to take him out oh but what if I throw another void bulb uh it might be moving them a little bit too far you know what why not why not let's not get aridan caught in that uh oh can we get this Archer this uh this tracker in that actually that might be good okay let's see I think I actually I'm actually going to try to get the tracker in more than the war here we'll see if we can get them all oh I did not get the tracker unfortunately but hey that was not a bad uh it was not a bad move and sword them down nice will maybe we don't have to worry too much about will hopefully I have not jinxed it by saying that oh good lord Scout he's fine get to The High Ground Raiders Char the bastards for the absolute oh okay okay they are very much coming closer to [Music] us maybe we can shove him off ooh oh no okay hang on see this is why we need to get rid of that booy one HP and a dream for him okay Gail has Thunder Wave uh so we can actually Thunder Wave all three of them off uh which will be pretty awesome yeah let's do that all right Gail you got this oh they saved oh but that guy is gone awesome okay uh I think I'm going to risk I'm going to set up the opportunity attack for aaran here can I shove him do you think Gail can do it where is that going to land you know what why not it's okay it was worth a shot shall Cut and Run Okay uh 50% that's not very good odd is it is he immune to poison none okay so I only have one bonus action though I think it might be worth uh doing so he'll do that H not when you missed [Laughter] though okay uh we've got three spell slots left so I am going to if she oh wait oh no but she she's going to blast all of us off um if she hits with this it usually hits pretty hard so 50/50 chance of it happening and let's see no mercy okay well that didn't happen and I can't really shove him from this end go okay well it's fine oh no I don't think Zeva can actually reach a lot of the enemies here uh okay what have we got I have like no spell slots left then get this come on 2 Hp we got this perfect we'll take it oh [ __ ] look at will go I'll bleed every last one of you oh calm down sir you cheeky oh no that's it's lagging oh no Gail I'm so sorry oh I shouldn't have put you there that's fine he's oh there we go oh well it's fine oh no bath uh okay this is not the worst situation just cuz I can now just try to take this guy out uh yeah we can potentially actually take him out let's see mine is the advantage we take it we take it time to kill and we try again again asarian you got this oh you really got this nice all right let's try again I think he could potentially go down here lovely you love to see it got to focus okay and uh let's go for the boag again let's do this camera awesome great stuff okay oh my God I don't know man we kind of picking this bug b into the ground here nice not bad that was the last of them inside all of you more may follow open the gate okay awesome so far so good so so far so good good way to start today's session uh let's loot everything is that uh wasn't there someone who that that he's knocked out he's not he's not actually um gone yet so think you take me on let's let's finish the job sorry Goblin dude that might have been a bit brutal [Laughter] actually so um if I didn't mention it earlier this is a uh a dark urge playthrough I don't know what possessed me to well I I do know it's that I didn't fully understand the consequences of my actions and I didn't fully understand what honor mode meant um so I don't know what possessed me in the sense that why would I do honor mode and dark urge to keep it spicy I suppose what's life with a little bit without a little bit of spice after all uh okay and we've cleared shop here um let's see what we picked up okay these gloves of power uh weapon attack so we're going to give that to assarian it's pretty perfect pretty ideal for him um and we'll send this to Camp because I won't be using that o this could be for shadow heart oh she's the only one that leveled up oh no the oh the ladies leveled up ladies first I suppose uh let's see this is an upgrade for her very slight upgrade but an upgrade nonetheless and we take it um and I think we can just sell all the other items to be honest and we're good there yep okay cool uh I think I will do the level up here just very quickly before we head inside let's see what we've what we've got uh I do wish I could look at my complete spell list here uh okay so I do like scorching Ray but I've always had like really poor luck when it comes to like not missing uh Misty step is such a great utility spell but I also know that we're going to get items down the line that can potentially do that and there are Scrolls as well so I mean to be fair there's a scroll for everything technically um but I think I am going to go with scorching Ray yeah we're going to we're going to go with scorching Ray uh cuz it's a nice sort of spell that doesn't have an A or e as well and you know sometimes you don't want that ah okay so we get to pick a passive here too I'm going to go with subtle spell uh I don't you know I think it's pretty s self-explanatory um being able to cast spells while silence is uh pretty brilliant the only other option I can think of that might be good would be distance spell um just if you're frightened and you can't move heighten spell actually seems pretty goddamn good but it's quite expensive it's like three sorcery points um spells that cost Quicken spell is also looking quite quite interesting and now I'm concerned that I mean twin spell is a must for me personally because I I know it's such a Min thing but I do use that for Mage Armor every um after every long rest um I might actually go with quick and spell cuz yeah I might actually yeah you know what let's go at quick and spell I don't have a lot of sorcery points in store right now but I think it might be worth our while uh and now we have this spell as well and let's actually see what okay we can only replace these I'm not replacing those those are essential to me and that's it okay cool let's see that's a that's a new passive I've never tried Quicken spell before well I've only played through with a sorcerer once so absolutely it's a new thing uh okay Shadow hot ooh okay [Music] so I think for now we'll have this uh prepared but we will be using that later so since we are playing on the dark uh with a dark like since this is a dark urge run um I do want to save Al so we will be unfortunately having to knock her out it looks bad but it is the Lessa of two evils I feel actually that there is no lesser in this situation um but I I just I think it's more worthwhile saving ala so yeah there are children here you fool we was running for our lives you led them straight to us and you let them take the Druid too unbelievable um I'm going to go in number three Druid those goblins didn't take any prisoners we lost him back at the ruins old place is crawling with Goos he trusted you nobody forced him to go with us he insisted and when things got sof he couldn't keep up simple as that my God you're a coward the human's eye twitches he's about to blow oh we actually succeeded that inside check here [Music] um okay so we are dark urg so I think we do oh okay we have intimidation and persuasion I think we're going to go with the intimidation rout if you want me to take both of you down I will otherwise knock it off yeah I like that uh and we need a four here that was way more than what we needed squabbling is pointless the Goblins have found us at least we agree on that A Safe Haven MH um okay so I do want to get all okay so the the guys have leveled up now I do want to get everyone's approval up as much as possible salutations um and in this kind of starting zone asaran asarian kind of disapproves of a lot of things so I might send him out to wait I'll send him back to Camp uh to wait a bit whilst we kind of get the get the options that we want so that he doesn't like disapprove um okay so I I already have scorching Ray I'm going to give Gail a lot of like AOE spells because he's an evocation wizard uh Misty step might be the other the second spell I take at this point because it is quite handy to have um although you know again I'm a sucker for scorching Ray uh yeah let's let's let's just go with Misty step for now and I'm sure we'll level up soon enough uh when we prep our spells we're going to actually add in our new ones and I think we are good now aarian very straightforward level up oh no it's not actually we have to actually subass here um I'm going to go with the thief just for the bonus actions always a good time and we have to try to find a hand cross crossbow or two hand crossbows really for him as soon as possible uh let's go talk to Zev oh no not you GA what now please I have something to ask forgive that display aradin a blo hard but that's no cause for me to join him thank you for your help out there I'm zor I wonder if there will be disapproval with this I can't save scum oh no okay uh I'm just going to say I'm bogs well met I should warn you visitors are no longer welcome in this Grove whatever your business I'd see to it quickly The Druids are forcing everyone out this attack will only strengthen their resolve I have forgotten to send aaran outside uh it's fine I think we can actually avoid his disapproval here um I won't be staying long I just need to find a Healer Goblin got you the Druid Hon's a renowned healer but he didn't make it back from arin's Expedition if it's not too serious you could try his Apprentice netti she's with the other Druids in the inner Grove they've started a ritual to cut the Grove off from the world outside we can't stay but we'll be slaughtered if we leave we are no Fighters I mean you held up pretty well in that fight earlier um what brought you here we are refugees from elel we took shelter here after noes attacked us on the road we were Bound for Boulder's Gate and it was too late to turn back elel had no place for teelings after The Descent no I failed the history check uh The Descent what is that I'm surprised you haven't heard of it the high overseer our grand protector signed a PCT with Devils it dragged elel Straight to Hell lucky for us a group of adventurers found a way to bring the city back afterwards people looked at us and just or devilkin no different from The Druids here really okay so we're just going to leave thank you again for your help out there if you'll excuse me I'd best get my people moving okay sorry Z I'd offered the help but this vampire man that's with us will get very unhappy if I do um not that we are Romancing him although we may engage in some cheeky Behavior Uh just to get the approval rating process like expedited a little bit uh right now everyone is not very you know yeah we're going to try I would I've not done this before as well but it would be cool to get everyone up to like Max approval uh by the time we hit endgame that would be pretty neat so we'll see if there is a good way to Middle Ground our our way through like conversations and stuff uh let's actually speak to them I've never had cause to visit a druid's Grove before magic weighs heavier here seeking solace in root and soil grounding one might say Okay sor well this seems like a lovely little spot the sense of impending doom aside and Shadow heart this place seems remarkably tense for a sacred grove perhaps we shouldn't linger but let's at least see if there's a Healer to be found first of all okay so these are just the questions that she would have we'll we'll explore the other parts later um okay let's go into The Druids Grove here here ooh camp supplies we take that uh I don't need any of those codes okay so as for Morality uh since we're not like role playing too hard on this playthrough I will also not be too focused on morality here and I will be uh I will be thieving a little bit that being said it is a bit scary since we can't actually like reload any safe States so we do have to be quite careful about our thieving we won't be like I think they've patched that out anyway but we won't be messing with merchants or anything like that uh unless the those those NPCs are like intolerable then maybe uh we might mess with them a bit but otherwise uh I will just leave little things like this just you know we're just going to just going to see if we it's a useful thing for us you know especially early game where I'm trying to save as much gold as possible uh and camp supplies are still relatively hard to come by um let's save uh I'm I'm Nadira I always forget her name we'll save Nadira from the bug bear here uh Shadow heart can get on here this supp Gale could actually like Thunder Wave him off couldn't he uh oh actually heart you could actually G of wi do we do [Laughter] it oh I'm so tempted to do it hang on let me move this around I'm so tempted to try it you know what why not oh oh oh bloody work all right no or how you going to get back up dude I can't even hit him though uh I'm going to dash here just to prep for the next round next turn on my way and maybe aaran can can you not oh he can't okay that's fine sometimes the only way out is that cuz we should be able to buy either the potions themselves or materials to craft more whatever it takes let me switch out bless for Aid here and we are actually going to burn this spell slot here jealousy I've admired lakan for years never dreamed he'd answer my letter but I've work myself to the Bone for this few can match me in either magic or Talent the names Roland and looen will be known ship but the Damned alids infected me before I could end her she's out there now praying on the innocent I don't kill her she'll leave behind nothing but a trail of corpses you have a mind flare tple in your head doesn't that worry you I'd be a fool if it didn't I know the stories doomed to shed my skin become a liid and there's no coming back but I haven't sprouted any tentacles at least not yet thank balerin could just be good luck but sooner or later it's bound to run out okay so I'm not going to agree to help him on car like down of course so option one is uh join me then we'll search for a cure an excellent suggestion but your parties full up still when the time comes call for the blade I won't be long to answer uh go to my camp and wait for me a splendid plan we'll talk more there oh Devils on their shoulders comes with the territory unfortunately mhm aarian so we're traveling with the famed blade of Frontiers I feel safer already you don't say shadow heart the blade of Frontiers let's hope will lives up to his name we'll need all the help we can get that training dummy is working out uh okay let us we do have animal speaking perfect so let's actually speak to this Ox The Bard Ox here another one what are you under there then aunt or rocks and are you calling me small if you do not like your form then choose another that is what the keepers of this place do they become Birds to hunt on the wing Bears to tear flesh with teeth but for me only oxen only same old hair and I cannot even eat it because the horned ones hide their shiny bits inside shiny bits the teelings put something in your head hiding things thinking they're clever not clever sometimes I eat the shiny bits and they have to go looking for them on the other end Che Behavior with this Ox all right get to me if we there we should at least make a run for it grab this loot here see what we've got okay not bad we did get a pouch though and I do like to put all the um um how do you say the wees that we'll be selling in these pouches and since everyone else in the party has a well a staran especially I suppose he can carry the most so we always make sure they have pouches okay so we're going to trade with Aaron here and we uh o a flute I didn't even realize we picked that up um we'll send it to camp and oh we got a hand drum as well send that to Camp I um I might have mentioned this earlier or maybe in the last episode uh but I'm not someone who utilizes um like Buffs like potions and items really well I might have to start learning how to do that especially for this particular playthrough um so maybe if things get a little bit crazy we will start actually uh drinking all these really really good potions but for now I'm just going to see I guess I'm curious to see how we would fa on uh in honor mode if I were to play exactly how I would play in any other instance so um yeah let's grab all this from Shadow H heart and we'll grab everything from asarian as well and we'll mark everything up to here refugees adventurers no one in years and suddenly we're overwhelmed well met and thank you for beating back those goblins most Brave of you is there anything you need act fast if you do the ritual will be complete before too long what are you selling just some bits and Bobs I no longer need all right cool uh okay he definitely can't afford to buy all our Wares but he does have an ingredient that we need which is acor truffle although that's nowhere near the amount that will allow him to buy all our stuff 125 for five healing potions I have 12 on hand I suppose we can purchase these oh I could purchase something for Gil to snack on um which I think this actually he can have this I'm actually not sure um let's just sell off the armor first I suppose since that's the heaviest and then we're going to um maybe sell the not so valuable it yeah I will sell this costic ball I think not going to use it what else is heavy we'll just go down the line Perfect all right Sylvanas guide your path thank you Aaron so let's let's talk to uh I'm not trying to pronounce his name actually gex guex um we can get some approval raics up here again step hurry strike damn it it's just not Landing interesting technique having some trouble nothing but goblins in the wild out for blood and The Druids in here looking to kick us out or Worse we need to be ready for a fight but I'm useless with a sword ooh okay I think I will actually have to go with the insights check here I do have Proficiency in inside so that would be better than the strength roll and we have guidance so we need a seven ask and you shall receive I'll I'll try and Brace them better like so step brace Parry swing yes you really know what you're doing found this by the road bet you'll put it to good use such a sweetheart um keep training in time you'll make short work of any goblins hopefully it's just the Goblins we have to worry about The Druids are treating us like Vermin but I'll keep at it thank you one last thing don't shout out your commands like or your moves like that spoils the surprise for your foe oh yes I'll bite my tongue when the time comes bless his heart all right okay um we're going to I think I don't really want to step in there yet cuz there's a particular set of dialogue um from Gail that I do want to get is that so let's just kind of go around and see if we can get another instance of dialogue to trigger first I think you can only have one of those things happen um at least in in the uh prison area uh let's talk to Cal Le and Roland would never admit it but they take an arrow for the other also stab each other not sure what will come for first thanks for cutting in there might have been more than words if you hadn't Leo those goblins will rule the day the same results uh up until the point we left off uh and the only thing that I could not replicate is of course the uh the items and the items that we got from uh looting and and the merchants and things like that so so uh we will be continuing the playthrough and there will be some item discrepancy but for the large part everything else will be the same so let us jump into it uh let's see we'll continue I didn't I haven't spoken to bath yet and I haven't dealt with the uh the situation with the necklace yet so we'll just kind of we'll have that a little bit of a we'll have a little bit of a repeat there but then everything else is going to be a continuation of where we left off uh but yeah there was there was some issues involving a game crashing like this uh yep so hopefully basically the game crashes and the file that I initially had kept crashing so I had to I actually didn't record I didn't keep the recording from that last crashed bit um but I am I think I am going to keep this one so you're going to sorry apologies for the black screen here I am going to keep this one I think it has to do with the patch and uh I haven't actually looked into how to fix it oh and on crash issues ever since I patched in patch 5 which I've mentioned in episode one uh which is why I did a clean reinstall um I am going to pause the recording here because on my steam um window it says issues in the future um and hopefully this save file is okay because that that first save file was completely busted it kept crashing all the time so we're going to load back in fingers crossed and uh
