My Response To Jubilee | Liberal Christians vs Conservative Christians

boy do we have something to go through today so there's a video that came out by this channel named jubilee and it's a part of this series called middle ground where the channel brings about six people on average to come together and talk about different topics like pro-life pro-choice men's rights and feminism just like controversial stuff and in the first minute or so you may have noticed that there's someone familiar hey i know that guy seriously like i i have to say i'm a big fan of jubilee i've been a fan of jubilee for years now and so the fact that this wasn't my first but second jubilee video that i got casted for it was pretty it was pretty pretty sweet like physical contact that just wasn't just like a thing but but i never doubted if my parents loved me it's just like the only times we would hug is when there was like a major disagreement and it was so awkward like i was just like ah so i figured i'd do a video talking about how i came to some of these conclusions and kind of just hopefully give you some fresh insight about some of the responses that i had because i have had a lot of people reach out just asking for advice or different things that said that they really were inspired from the video and there's already react videos to it there's like 400 000 views and plus the comment section is literally eating me alive my phone has not stopped ringing since sunday so we're just gonna we're gonna start it and we'll just uh we'll see what happens it says in romans that if you confess with the mouth and believe in the heart that jesus is lord then you will surely be saved i went back to salvation simply because to say that there's a good christian implies that there's a category of bad christians and i just don't know if following christ or the idea following christ falls along a spectrum it talks about it in revelation 3 16 it talks about it in first john like god is just not for the lukewarm on the fence thing so that's kind of why i went back to salvation just because i don't really feel like there's much spectrum i don't really feel like there's much middle ground when we're approaching different topics like homosexuality or like pro-choice per life we have to go into them thinking about what the bible says i am so glad that they included this i'm an emotional human being like i just am and i have learned the hard way of what happens when we make conclusions based off of our feelings rather than based off of scripture and i think man if we just found a way to go back to what scripture says about life choices about how we see ourselves and how we see life we would just be better off but literally since genesis man we have just disregarded what god has told us to do and so i'm really glad they included that because that's just that's super important to me perhaps i am biased because i'm in bible college but i just man if we learn just to listen to what god tells us to do we'd be all right i prefer to have i'm angel so we're gonna stop here i had no idea about the whole keen peel spiel until it was too late now to speak more on diversity i present tonight's speaker mr douglas jackson ah if i would have known i literally would have worn anything anything else it's just i mean they're not wrong and what sucks most is that i feel like that may have like caused diagnosis bias about what i was gonna say just because i wore that man i wish i didn't wear that but i mean there's nothing i could do so is what it is the republican party embodies christian values more than the democratic party i hated that i stepped up and the reason why i hated that i stepped up is because i will be the first to tell you i know nothing nothing when it comes to political stuff i don't know anything about that so that's the only reason why i stepped up is simply because there was no i don't know category that is the only reason i walked forward i'm unaffiliated i'm not a republican i'm not a democrat i don't think one is better than the other i really don't the only reason why i stepped up is because the first thing that came to mind was pro-life yeah but truth be told man i literally walked forward just because i i really didn't know i just i'm not in either one at the end of the day like i have republican friends i have democrat friends like i it's it's not gonna stop me from getting lunch with this just dumb but whatever like i don't think christ would have been in a party i mean but oh well there's nothing i can do now so jesus would protest for the black lives matter movement yeah i this question was super creative like i this was the last thing i thought they were about to ask though i know christ would believe black lives matter i don't know if he would be affiliated with the organization black lives matter i don't i don't no and that's not me saying that blm is good that's not me saying that blm is bad i just i don't know enough about that organization to say that that's exactly something christ would do the bible is not a sex manual so what if the lord tells them to have an abortion i'm just gonna have to say trust the lord and i'm not a woman i will never be put in that place so dude i got eaten alive i got eaten alive for saying that i think people thought i was saying that as like a cop-out answer like when i said trust in the lord like but in reality situations like that are so difficult what else can you do besides trusting the lord when i said like i'm not a woman it was mainly like to give a bit of respect because i'll never be in that spot but it just did not come off like that i told you it didn't um sympathetic for people in those predicaments but other than trusting the lord i don't really see another option and that's not saying to disregard medical advice the lord will not screw you over you and the lord's gonna tell you what to do in situations like that that's why i said trust in the lord it wasn't a cop-out it was just if you aren't trusting the lord what are you doing you know giving birth and actually dying i think that in those circumstances in many cases look at oh look at my face dude i'm so like i just don't know how to not look sad unless i'm actively engaged i'm just depressed they are in our english rendition it says homosexuality but those literally translate to pedophilia okay so when she said this my black tail was shooketh because i didn't know where she got the information from i had never heard that and so i was just kind of like bro what however i did my own research and if you look at the word that she was talking about it really translates to effeminate and one i'm sorry two of the definitions talk about pedophilia but there's one definition that talks about lewdness meaning immoral sexual behavior between men and so it just sorry it's just not enough but you know you did throw me off it really did throw me off so the verses that say a man shall not sleep with another man for it is an abomination that there's no word for homosexuality and that it's just no dude sleep with other dude no i've i hate that i said that i am just not a fan of using leviticus when it comes to talking about sin what happens is when people use leviticus i've seen it happen before when christians use leviticus to talk about sin unbelievers will almost 9 out of 10 times clap back with oh well if you're going to talk about sin and you also have to talk about eating shellfish and wearing mixed tweeds and yeah it was put in place to protect them and to groom them for the promised land like oh i really wish i didn't quote that earlier really wish i didn't it definitely was the only verse that came to my brain at the time i wish that i would have had something else but this is what it is that i can do now i i can see how you can see that related to first timothy transgenders people will break the speed limit or go to heaven if they put their faith in jesus christ i'm glad i put my faith in jesus christ because all those speeding tickets put me on the highway to hell i tell you what you don't know how to interpret the word you are dishonoring god because you are not doing his will you already have an agenda and you're trying to fit the bible into that agenda that without the gospel people are going to hell and that's a very serious issue more serious than sexual orientation or aborted babies and i think that's the key issue between conservatives and progressives it's not about the issues it's about the word of god my biggest thing is just like taking parts of scripture and then not taking the other um but oh dude i'm such a dork that's a huge thing man all is breathed by god and is profitable for teaching for reproof for correction and training in righteousness and so we have to believe that the bible is absolute you know like i just i don't i believe it's without error and i think the biggest divide came in with the progressive and conservative christianity it's just like i feel like they're just a bit looser with interpretation and just a bit looser with that stuff i just doesn't mean that they're bad people it's just just not as loose when he was saying that i was leaning over and i was literally praying like because there were two things that i walked in there wanting to do defend god's word and love on people i'm hesitant when it comes to condemning people i'm hesitant on telling people who's going to hell and who's going to heaven i'm hesitant on all that stuff just because i'm not god you know like i don't hold the keys to life and death i wasn't there when he laid the foundations of the earth i'm not god and so like i do my best to love people and to point them to scripture but just when he was just like you're hermeneutics you're i was like i but i mean man as an african american we dealt with slavery and if you go back and you you study history i mean you look at the the history of black people we were indoctrinaized by the bible slaves obey your masters and they indoctrinated that into us to to keep us oppressed the people that were using scripture to promote slavery it just they were wrong but scripture is not wrong people are like when you're abusing another person you are completely disregarding the fact that that is a part of god's workmanship i'm telling you man scripture is not the problem interracial marriage was illegal in this country until 1967 and there were christian women protesting because white christians thought it was unbiblical and it was in the bible it was clear that we're not supposed to be mixing with other races yeah but all it takes is history about what moses's wife looked like that just disputes all of that telling you man scripture is not the problem oh my gosh dude it's not the problem man i'm telling you it's not the problem so when it comes to tendencies with homosexuality that's something that i've dealt with since i was very young however i don't choose to identify with those tendencies that are within me i choose to identify with what the bible declares that i am there's a big possibility you may never get married because of what because i choose to trust in the lord and i choose to do as the scripture says that's a lot of self-control to say basically you're down to have a life of celibacy yeah man i mean there's not really much to say about that known for a very long time i was hecka nervous to talk about it and and i really really had to seek the lord on whether he wanted me to be open about that you know people act funny style when they find that out and like i've made jokes before like gay jokes and i didn't want people like to be like oh is he like i just but at the same time like i'm not working right now i'm not super involved in ministry right now and so i figured like what better time to just start fresh when nothing's in the darkness when everything is brought in the light there's just no reason to be afraid of anything like truth brings strength it brings might in a way that nothing else can and so when i believe that the lord put it on my heart to share that when we talked it just i did it one because i i feel like there are so many people that deal with the exact same things and they're just so nervous to talk about them they're in the dark and that darkness is filled with shame it's filled with self-hatred it's just it will eat you alive man it says in scripture if you delight in the lord like he'll give you the desires of your heart and so um i think we focus so much about aversion to sin and like if you're delighting in the lord like he's gonna give you the desires of your heart because he's going to align your heart with his desires telling you man life is just better when you just trust in the lord when you just delight in the lord and just trust that he's gonna figure all that stuff out and i really tried like really tried for a long time to find any way any any way i could see scripture in a way that promotes it just because the idea of growing old without a spouse just is hard for me to imagine at times but i feel like in a way i'm grateful i'm grateful for what i deal with because it forces me it forces me it gives me no other option but to trust the lord it gives me no other option but to be dependent on god it's like the thorn in my flesh you know i just it forces me to realize that i need god and and without a man i really am a lost cause but i had a relevatory moment when the church was mean to me put him over here we don't want him with anybody kick him out do that it wasn't no one showed me the authentic love of christ but you know who showed me the authentic love of christ my friends who are gay i had to go to counseling because of what the church did to me help me to understand people in the church hurt you not god ah my heart broke for curtin that moment and the reason why my heart broke for a story is because it's not uncommon i've seen it happen so often where people are in sin and they go to church looking to find love and understanding and they get in there and they find the exact opposite people isolate them they treat them like crap but you know who does shower them in unconditional love as kurt said his gay friends i am so grateful so freaking grateful that i came up in a church where pastors showered me with unconditional love i have yet to understand why they showered me with unconditional love i sat under a pastor one pastor in particular when he found out that i dealt with this he just he loved me man he loved me to death loved me to life he loved me through all my difficult and prodding questions about why why why and how how and if we found a way not to be so ignorant about our call to love on people if we just recognize that love is literally the greatest of spiritual gifts we would not have this problem we just need to do a better job loving people now i'm telling you if we did a better job loving people we'd be all right we'd be all right because they're hurt by the church and what the church did to them and how the church treated them [Music] come as you are and stay as you are instead of come [Music] so i think above all i really just went into that talk wanting to do a limited list of things was to show the love of god to be the love of god and to defend god's word and i'm not defending god's word to be a stickler with scripture to try to like ram it up someone's rear i just i've seen in my own life what happens when we don't make conclusions based off of what scripture says literally since genesis we've seen the dangers of what happens when we don't listen to god's voice and i've had that happen in my own life man and what happens is when we don't follow the voice of the lord when we don't base our understanding bases off of what god tells us to do we make bad calls and we end up like the people of israel doing whatever is right in their own eyes we have to find ways to be more grounded in scripture that doesn't mean being able to spout out verses like back to back it just means meditating on the word of the lord it means it being hidden and grounded and anchored in your heart yeah man i'm really glad i'm thankful for the experience thankful for like all you guys that came and watched this you know um yeah pretty cool i got other videos
