hello guys crisp here welcome back to another video and this one my friends I'm doing something that I thought I'd never need to do again because the game that we're about to play is supposed to be completely dead at this point and under the ground but yes we are going back to force broken of course that's because fsr3 is here and available in force broken so we gotta check it out right for that I thought I'd use the PC that I'm currently testing it's a Mini PC from billing the sir 7 with the ryzen 7 7840hs and radiant 7 ATM graphics and the 6700 XT because the igpu kind of sucked as usual we have the latest AMD drivers installed and you can see all of the GPS packs right here we're also pairing it with 32 gigabytes of ddr5 5600 megahertz Ram in dual Channel and I have allocated 8 gigabytes of that RAM for vram only so let's get to the trash I'm in game now yes shall we ah look at this my friends I I clicked the right button on the mouse by mistake actually so I didn't really mean to do this but it's it's great for us to see worst case scenario I guess it's dropping down into the 20s I forgot to show you the settings we're playing at 1080p resolution with maximum frame rate set to 120 whenever you enable fsr3 this actually goes up to 240 which is interesting and we're using the lowest settings here aside from resolution scaling and with temporal AA which looks way better than native at Native it looks really shimmery as you can see we got the fsr3 option right here which is now disabled so we can take a look at the graphics first and performance and so on also on the on-screen display you can see that the CPU frequency is down at the bottom that's because I couldn't really put it up top like usual but anyway that's the CPU frequency there so let's run around for a little bit it's feeling a bit stuttery actually vram usage is at 6.5 gigabytes right now so the game is quite a lot of vram even at 1080p low settings with some um not that great textures you know especially if I go here take a look at these rocks for example yeah they're still not amazing but this is low settings after all I just think that it should have been a little bit better optimized obviously like but yeah overall this is a terrible experience basically okay with less than 30 frames per second it looks okay especially compared to some other titles that have released it also looks alright in terms of like sharpness and detail you know it's not fuzzy at all at Native resolution which is cool all right let's stop it there and let's enable that beautiful setting right here okay so we got a native AA option under fsr3 I'm curious to see what that is actually so we should get around the same FPS yeah it's a little bit sharper of an image right now and it introduces a little bit of noise as well around the character while running it's very minor though maybe it was already there at Native resolution I'm also using a 1080p monitor for this by the way not my usual 42 inch 4k monitor okay so yeah this is native 1080p I can tell differences and stuff yeah this is for those of you who weren't a little bit sharper of an image I would say than native resolution but it's not needed whatsoever so let's enable quality fsr3 right now without the frame Generation stuff first and uh okay so it's not God awful but I can see a lot of noise around the character while she's running look at the top of her hair for example look at the top of the bridge as well even if I stand still it's really fuzzy and noisy dude and of course my clothes or whatever that thing is it's really really pixelated whenever we are running so unfortunately all of that detail that I was telling you about at Native resolution which was actually pretty sharp and detailed whenever moving and stuff you could see every leaf of grass absolutely fine right now it's just a little bit of a pixelated mess still I would say that this is decent enough for it to be enjoyable okay and especially in terms of FPS we got the massive boost by enabling fsr3 on quality without frame generation so we're above 30 frames per second at the moment even fighting these guys over here it's it's okay it's stable you know it doesn't really stutter that's pretty good you know starting to stutter a little bit over here once again but not as bad as previously I think it's now playable unintegrated Graphics that's that's pretty amazing considering that when the game came out you needed a GTX 1060 for 720p 30fps plus all of the time let me just throw the fire effect as well we saw like 24 FPS previously like lower 20s actually and now we're seeing like high 20s and mid-20s at times and even low 30s with all of this fire going on so it is not terrible once again it just gets a bit of a pixelated image but I would live with it now let's try out the frame Generation stuff what the hell happened to that frame time graph what okay let's see all right so input lag wise it's it's a little bit worse you can notice it but it's not terrible I think I could still play a game like this uh with frame generation on and a little bit of input like that it delivers and I think why is the frame time 0.2 milliseconds that's weird it shouldn't be that low you know it's definitely not that low so disregard that and even though we have a wall of a frame time graph right there which indicates a lot of stuttering with one percent lows at 17. it actually feels okay it doesn't feel staticy but it doesn't feel like 60 FPS either you know it's not because of the frame Generation stuff it's just like that frame time is really weird at the moment now in terms of visuals with fsr3 and FG enabled it's a bit more pixelated you know you can notice that the pixelation got worse with FG enabled but I can't really spot anything weird going on with the image everything looks okay as it should um like there are no artifacts or at least noticeable ones here in four is broken and of course that's with a ton of grass around us so that's good to see you know even grass looks decent enough so most other games without much grass and stuff like that should look way better than this and way less noisy as well let me just set this to ultra performance to see if that frame time graph stabilizes a bit and now with higher FPS than 60 or 50 ish what we were seeing before I can tell that it it feels smoother for sure at the moment okay where 60 didn't really feel like 6080 is starting to feel like 60 probably actually maybe like 40 or so I don't know if this is worth it or not with an igpu guys I would probably say no just because we were already seeing decent enough performance for the game to be playable without any input lag at 1080p quality fsr3 without frame generation and the frame time was smooth also look at the vram utilization even at this super low resolution it's eating a ton of vram I wonder if that's because of the frame Generation stuff because on Nvidia it actually consumes quite a bit of ram maybe it does so on AMD as well let's see now it's exactly the same thing yeah like seven 7.1 gigabytes is what we're seeing without frame generation and with frame generation enable it was pretty much the same thing oh it's going down right now though maybe it's because we are seeing the water at the moment it's still Ultra performance though so it's really really pixelated let's walk around here once again with the frame generation enabled and here we go 6.7 6.8 gigabytes okay okay so now we jumped up by quite a bit here guys and now it's going down again I I think it's just the different areas over in the water it gets slightly lower vram utilization and over here when you touch the grass it's slightly higher vram utilization I don't think frame generation on AMD with FSR makes that much of a difference to vram consumption as you can see it's off right now and it's it's jumping up to like 7.1 at times or 7 100 megabytes it's not really 7.1 gigabytes okay so even on quality I was expecting this to look a little bit better to be closer to the LSS but the look of FSR is still not really that close to dlss guys but yeah as you can see with balanced FSR things are still very pixelated kind of like a blurry mess sometimes or pixelated noisy mess whenever I jump especially it's it's really weird but it's always above 30 frames per second and even here look at that 31 32 yeah okay 29 it slightly drops once again kind of like the same as quality all right that's it for the igpu test I'm gonna hop into that PC over there connect the 6700 XT to it with a 5800x3d and try fsr3 in that system and here we have it the Radeon RX 6700 XT is installed with the latest AMD drivers I'm not overclocking it you can see all of its specs right here in Tech powerups GPU Z and over on the left you can see the ryzen 7 5800x3d and 32 gigabytes of RAM okay for the 6700 XT I'm playing at 1440p resolution using the high settings preset I just disabled motion blur and right now fsr3 is also turned off and with these settings you can see that Force broken really is broken indeed it's getting 50-ish 40-ish FPS on a 6700 XT I mean I guess by now in 2023 we've already seen worse optimized titles than this one at least this one has a smooth frame time graph you know but this was absolutely atrocious performance back when this game released and once again it might have been fixed it might be performing better now I I haven't really tested 6700 XT at release but yeah that could be the case as well don't drop from 30 frames per second it's playable like this although if you have a GPU like this one you might be very disappointed at the performance that you get with these kinds of Graphics because the game doesn't look very good once again even on high you know anyways let's enable some fsr3 without the frame gen stuff frame gen also introduces a wall of frame time graph in this one as well but let's try it on quality first and at 1440p it should be looking a little bit better than it did at 1080p compared to Native resolution you know but it's still really really pixelated around my clothes around the hair of course if I move the camera around it's only when we are moving of course if the image is still like over here it doesn't look bad whatsoever I mean maybe at the distance sometimes it flickers in some of the trees and stuff but yeah the fact that I need to be moving to show you this makes it a bit kind of impossible for you to actually take a look at what's going on because YouTube conversation is gonna erect everything I'm still gonna render this at 4K so you guys can have best visual quality but yeah um I I suggest you to try for yourselves because Force broken has a free demo on Steam and you can take a look at the technology and play around with it by yourselves okay let's go in that direction because it's not Sunny anymore in this part of the map I don't like it too much also vram usage is actually going above eight gigabytes at 1080p High settings and the textures well they're not terrible but they're pretty bland in my opinion and by the way now that I stopped thinking about the pixelation issues around my character while moving and stuff like that and I started looking further into the distance I forgot that it wasn't really that pixelated and I can actually enjoy this with fsr3 enabled on quality even without the super high FPS of frame generation I think I would maybe enable it here because it's it's good enough to put this above 60 frames per second most of the times as you can see if we do this fire ring thingy it goes to hell literally and it actually drops from 60 and from 50 frames per second as well why are you attacking the fire buddy I'm right here still you gotta live with that pixelation effect though which is not really that pretty now you can also adjust the sharpness here so let's set it to like 15 instead of 80 percent all right yeah that's it still has the pixelation effect around your character but it might be a little bit less pronounced I think maybe the default sharpening here at 80 is a bit too much guys and lower it down to like 15 and it should look a little bit better at least it's looking better to my eyes lastly let's enable that frame Generation stuff and see how many frames we can get remember we were seeing 60 to 70 around this area now we're seeing basically double of that oh boy it just crashed anyway we're back here getting those sweet 100 plus frames per second with some very weird frame time graph everything looks even more pixelated now with the frame generation enabled unfortunately again I was thinking it would look a little bit better than this and we're not using the sharpening at a very high value either yeah it's just a weird effect guys but again this game if you're not using temporal a yeah it's also really shimmery and aliased so could also be just because of the game's design now in terms of smoothness it feels a little bit better and in terms of input lag I can't really notice any big disadvantage compared to previously it's just like frame generation on the Nvidia side of things when you enable that and have like 60 FPS you can notice a very big delay in input lag but with 120 frames per second on average or 100 plus FPS all of the time that delay won't be noticeable whatsoever it's going to be minimized and it feels responsive still here with fsr3 I gotta say that all right here we go I got the fire going on once again can feel a little bit of slow down happening here at times when it dropped to like 80 something FPS yep near the edge of the fire effects it's it's okay though all right lastly let's play at 4K resolution still with the high settings preset with no motion blur and I have disabled fsr3 and it's getting less than 30 frames per second pretty bad stuff right here it doesn't feel smooth whatsoever obviously it's 20 FPS you know now enabling fsr3 on quality without frame generation first yeah it's a lot more fuzzy oh my God even at 4K resolution you can tell that there is quite a lot of pixelation going on on my clothes right now while running around like this what the hell happened um yeah on her hair pretty much everything that's moving at the moment has a ton of pixelation around it again if you enable it and get used to playing like this for like 20 minutes or so you're really gonna stop noticing it especially at 4K resolution after a while but coming from native res I can definitely see quite a bit of loss of detail on a positive note though the FPS are now pretty high compared to what they were before it's not even dropping from 30 frames per second at least not yet okay it still drops though on the fire effects but with frame generation on look at those FPS right now remember we were dropping from 30 FPS near the fire effects and now it's getting 50 plus does it feel like 50 plus no once again that's weird frame time is showing that something really weird is happening here okay and it does not feel as smooth as 60 frames per second and it has a little bit of input lag once again but it's it's nothing out of this world actually I would say that input likewise this is very similar to what Nvidia has with the frame generation it's like in between it doesn't feel like 30 FPS or at least dropping into the 20s but it also doesn't feel like 60s it's maybe like 40 I would say it's 40 45 something like that okay it's weird guys pretty weird stuff I wish to see that frame time issue flatten out and be fixed here with fsr3 in terms of the average FPS it can get you massive improvements as you can see right here and I believe the technology will mature and deliver really great results in the future but at the moment it's just okay all right thanks for joining me in this first look at fsr3 and 4 is broken or should I say four spoken maybe it's four spoken now I hope you guys enjoyed it I wish to see it in more games soon and I wish to test it in more popular titles as well when that comes out so yeah catch you the next one very soon as always love you all bye
