MY COUSIN'S MOVED IN!!!

[Music] hi i'm stephanie and this is my home the 16th century chateau de la land la land was owned for hundreds of years by a family of marquis who were at the heart of french royal life one of them even had the honor of being sent by king louis xv to greet marie antoinette on her arrival in france but far from being a stuffy museum this chateau is a living home i live here all the time and i'm regularly joined by my mother my family my friends and wonderful volunteers from all over the world who helped me to lovingly restore this historic home welcome to la land a chateau filled with life love and laughter i am up super early today it's half past seven because my cousin is arriving and yes he's very unlike me because he decided that by far the most efficient way to get here would be to drive all night so he's arriving at eight o'clock in the morning i can't believe we're related i don't want to miss a thing so i'm going downstairs i hear people in the kitchen so clearly i'm not the only person who's got up early for this hello no look look who we're talking to i'm not talking to mommy you're joking is this the emery welcome t well this is this is the armory welcome yeah wow with them oh yes hang on this is frightening this is the early riser crew plus one and he texted me he texted me half an hour ago so he'd be here in half an hour so he's on track oh he's on time yeah he's something very exciting steam cleaning my new rug as long as it doesn't smell of dog anymore it'd be great i bought this rug at the same auction that philip bought mouse in mouse and the whole down the thinker and i thought this would be really pretty somewhere in the chateau i'm super happy with it but it does smell rather powerfully of dog so it's getting a good steam clean and a febreze i think i'm going to come down looks as though the courtyard is the fun place to be right now it's doing something now the steam's coming out yeah where are you see that one here yeah since the microphone yeah it won't make a visual change but it will kill every bug in it okay because it just comes out you can definitely see the steam where you have the water you'll see the water yeah why is everyone in the corner today it's not even that nice today and suddenly everything because there's work to be done just things to be sorted this courtyard has got to be fruit right it's just part of putting the courtyard right having a rug in it i was looking at the vlogs and i was saying to myself this courtyard that's missing something it was you colour totem specifically it's missing a carpet i'm to go and see how honey's getting on this is because when you want things to be done yes yes that's your dislocated knee and jerry's broken knee yeah let's have a look we could do a three-legged rage between us who's got the biggest kneecap yeah you gerald i love the fact that it's it's a scar right next to a scar because you've broken exactly the same knee yeah exactly the same but i says to the dog so that's going to be a good job you just follow the last line it's like decreasing that's his how you know and what he did he painted a big arrow down there and i said i don't think you can get them mixed up that was this i see a beach ball that was just i see a tennis ball and he says no we have to put an arrow to make sure we get the right knee i says i'll tell you what i would be very worried just a patient if you picked that knee and i woke up in the operating theater this is my god your name is in great condition they couldn't find anything wrong with it but anyway we drilled them titanium screws and we've put a wire in just in case i see this system phillips secret carpet cleaning system that i'm doing may i say you're looking very smart for carpet cleaning thank you i felt like i could match the rug and kirsty how are you getting on i reckon you enjoyed this flame throwing job the first time you did it and now you've started eating it they're so relentless the weeds it is i think i think dan is sort of collecting dandelion seeds and just sprinkling them as it goes i did see him sprinkling a few seeds [Laughter] like three minutes the other week and it ran out of gas so right so no he's not allowed to touch it it's mine i've written my name on it i think it's a difference i mean they wilt straight away so it looks it looks better immediately yeah it does it does when i looked out of the window this morning yeah and i saw you start it was like oh forecast i was wondering whether to just mow it [Music] see you later this is crazy i just walked over expecting this to still smell disgusting and it smells really nice i put febreze all over it and i'm scene cleaning it again to try not that that like absorbs the smell somehow i must say it smells really delicious it smells so nice doesn't it i know no one of febreze no we have the best courtyard we need a permanent febreze sprayer yes just wafting out of the upstairs windows do you think this is ready for us to carry upstairs [Music] a phillips socks the equivalent of the white glove test you know yeah is that what you're doing philip seeing how clean your socks come up afterwards and then we know if the rug's clean or not we're not gonna look at those oh not bad come on not bad okay i think i've got this end here we go not that easy to carry and film well the rug is going to be in my room for now just so that it can dry flat it was the only space with enough clear floor to put it in i think it'll be very pretty somewhere one day not in here i think but for now it's fine and it can dry time for a cup of tea i think whilst i'm having a calm moment with my tea i will leave you with some footage from dan because when i was away in italy dan did the most magnificent job with a fantastic team of clearing the moat uh i'm blown away by what they've done and he sent me some dan cam all filmed whilst i was away was pretty epic so here's the adventure of the moat courtesy of dan [Music] but what do you need before you can clear them out you need a boat and where on earth is our boat right where are we aiming for i reckon if it comes around here yeah oh we can pull out that slope with the tractor yeah jeeves [Music] [Music] in a minute [Music] it might be a bit austin powers let's leave dan and the gang there for a moment and get back to them in a sec now we're gonna go and see how ian is getting on work has continued on natty's apartment but not where you would expect because obviously we can't just do the apartment downstairs we have to insulate everything so ian started by insulating the roof to see that we have to go up welcome welcome to my upper world so you've got the insulation yep so we've got international spit on indeed so this is this is all in on this side now yeah come through and then that will pick up as you go back to front it's right we have to start at the top where the outside you'll start at the bottom so any rain water does come in goes over that yes and then the pink stuff goes onto that the pink stuff is actually for the lower walls but we just use this as a template to check our size okay because you don't want to cut the really expensive stuff that's coming up here on the roof the crazy money that cost so yeah so because it was so expensive we came to a compromise position where we're doing the whole roof and the really expensive stuff and the outer walls in the chief yeah yes that's good but we've got almost no outer walls let's be clear well there's internal walls this is the internal wall yeah that will be in there and it's already 600 mil yeah thick stone anyway and what we're going to do we're going to put some rockwool against the wall first and that will take out in the undulations there's a nice flat surface for the solution to push to so it'll work perfect so this is the normal pink stuff this is the expensive good it feels so good to see the insulation going in really high quality one bit by bit we are going to make this chateau toasty and warm for the winter so every new area that we work on will get really the best insulation the problem is of course that to work up there we've had to cut through in the bedroom corridor okay i'm in the upstairs bedroom corridor right now and this used to be the little bathroom at the end of it which had a really pretty bath with blue curtains i actually loved this bathroom and it was the bathroom for charmed la chapelle but it's been completely destroyed because it was the only room we could knock through to get into what will in the future be jerry's apartment and to get up to the roof to work in there so that's left us with another task which is that we really need to redo this room i have some footage from a couple of days ago when ian was discussing what needs to be done in here with me okay so here we're going to have a little ensuite bathroom for the bedroom behind me i don't know if there's anyone in there or not so i'll leave that closer that's how the reason oh there isn't okay okay okay so this bedroom lost its ensuite it used to be exactly where you're standing now we had to knock it out of the way perfect so no one loses um a bathroom there's only a shower room and now you can see that actually there's been a little bit of progress we have part of a wall going up there's the partition wall going in that's where the door to the bathroom will be and then here where this ladder is that will be the shower just tucked in there the loo where it is now and the sink over here so we're getting there bit by bit we've ordered lovely tiles for the floor they have arrived but we don't have anything else for the room yet it's all on order but hasn't got here right back to some pretty epic dan cam [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] but this epic intrepid team didn't just clear the moat they also uncovered a whole new area of wall with a mysterious arch you know what it is are we going to be able to move it i don't think it's a pile of rubble oh it seems like an arch or something let's look how it's all stepped seems to me like this is just an archway it doesn't look like just a pile no it doesn't you're right they're all that way so i guess the more we clear the more we're gonna see but maybe when we cut this front face off we can see from the other side of the road there's a opening or something but isn't there yeah so they thought it was a rubble pile but it looks it's definitely an arch isn't it that's that pipe's obviously new yeah that drape must drain somewhere from the courtyard into there [Applause] they are [Applause] [Music] but that wasn't all the excitement because over in the world garden unbelievably i need it on camera we will have working water and a manifold today say it okay dan has told me to say on camera that we will have a working manifold today is that the truth as i said dan said to me to say i'm getting isabelle to come and smack your bum now is she here no that's a shame no i wouldn't do that kirsty you know me oh sorry kirsty i didn't see you i saw a fire good beautiful and we should do that to all of them that's what to reduce the pressure yeah there's plenty here great yeah that's all right you're happy yeah yeah it was it was worth it it was worth the full month wait yeah call kirsty get her in there she comes through the
