Mount and Blade II Bannerlord - Caravans Explained and how to make bigger profits (Beginners Guide)

hey guys and welcome back to another tutorial guide on mountain blade bannerlord 2. today we're going to be looking at caravans and how they work and how you get them so caravans essentially just do they take one of your companions and they do trading automatically around the world but there's a lot more to how they work and um so basically the way you set them up is you have to enter any city any settlement any major assessment sorry and you just speak to one of the heads the nobleman's in that settlement it can be anyone pretty sure it can be any one of them and for example we'll go to this merchant here zoro potter and we'll uh just talk to him say who we are and it will instantly come up at the bottom i wish to form a caravan in this town uh so we're gonna go ahead and click this it usually costs around fifteen thousand an hour to do you can upgrade it and i think it's about twenty seven thousand to um have a more like advanced one so basically it has stronger tiered troops that are able to protect it we're going to go ahead and we're going to pay that and we're going to use our companion here luca and there you go so that's done we have now have our first caravan as we can see she's here so we can't give her any troops we can't really speak to her but one thing that we do know is the companion that we've chosen has a very high trade skill and i'm going to get onto this in a bit but essentially yes so now we have a caravan it's got 30 troops and they're now going to go ahead move out the map move around and generate an income for us a lot of people make caravans though and it ends up costing them a lot more money now there's a couple reasons for this and again we'll get into that in a second another major thing you want to take into account though before creating caravan is make sure you do it in a safe location don't create one where you know that there are enemies or if you see loads of big bands of looters because what will happen is you'll spend 15 000 get that caravan going and then someone will attack it destroy it and capture your companion and you've just instantly lost 15 000 you won't get any of that back and you'll have to go around trying to look for your companion which can be a right pain so make sure you choose a safe location and um yeah next we kind of we want to have a look at the companions a little bit more so the whole way you get a caravan to work is simply by choosing the right companion because everything that they do is fully automated that caravan will now move around the map generally move to friendlier settlements and if you're at war with a faction that they won't tend to go into those that faction cities they'll try and avoid it they'll only do it if they know that's where they can make the best profits but um usually they don't most of the time obviously they can still enter those settlements um but normally they don't i mean again the further away you create it from your enemy faction the less likely it is that they'll get attacked anyway but it yeah one of the hardest parts is finding a companion that has that trade skill but you don't want to pick someone who has zero trade skill or anywhere less than probably about 80 trade skill the higher the trade skill they have and the more perks they have but benefit the caravan the more income they're going to bring you the more profit they're going to make for you and another thing you can take into account the longer they roam around keep looking down at the bottom left feed whenever they get skill points or if they eventually level up you um you can check and make sure that if they're ready to have more points put into them i think it's in the character menu so we can still see her in the character menu here so for example r1 has got 102 trade meaning she's going to generate a massive income for us and she's got a few perks here okay she doesn't have that one but she could have some perks here they basically make caravans better so she can now gather um trade rumors which means she has a 15 decrease in buy price from villages so she can now buy cheaper from villages and she also gathers trade rumors which means she can move around the map and know where the best locations are to buy and sell because she's got those rumors which means she's gonna generate more income for us anyway and you can get loads of other little perks and benefits for them here but as you can see when we started this i should have shown you she had zero xp at 6 300 she's already gone up to 741 so this skill is going to level up for her and it is going to continue to level up and continue to level up then we want to keep tabs on this we want to check this as much as possible as soon as she's got a skill point we want to pump it straight into trade and make sure that that's going up a lot of her other skills will go up as well she might get into combat so she might increase her combat skills but things like her tactics um sorry scouting riding unfortunately that's capped out there's nothing we can do about that but um other of her skills will also improve actually going around but i'll do a separate guide on companions and their skills and how you can improve them um anyway but just for now that is what you need to um to get good profits from caravans uh the way you get those companions is kind of just hot luck you'll just have to enter as many tablets as you can and you can just go ahead you don't have to talk to them and pay for them before finding out the skills you can just right click and it will show you what their skills are down here or you could be really lucky and it could have it in their name like this guy so we know he's an engineer but we can just look down here after right clicking on him and just see what his skills are that's the easiest way you can check the companions so if you want to set up a caravan just have a look so none of these guys have trade skill a trading companion is quite usually quite hard to find there's no secret location you can go to to get one it is just random you just visit around all the major settlements until you find one with a good trade skill and then get him into a caravan if you use somebody with no trade skill chances are the caravan will actually end up costing you more money so make sure you pick the right one it really really does matter but ultimately that is it there's not a whole lot to caravans obviously they cost a lot but when compared with workshops um they do like create more of an income look we've got a workshop income of 184 and that's a very selected workshop and the caravan's already bringing in more than that and this is only the first day or two of her bringing in income so we're already looking at 264 and that's going to continue to go up as she does this more could get to 500 it could get more than that so that is generally the best way you can generate profits guys don't just go for the random companions don't just set up a caravan just because you have a companion in your party make sure you pick the right one make sure you go out and look for one with a good trading skill it really does make a world of difference and you can start generating really good income i mean there are companions out there that only have trade skill and nothing else that's useful to you so don't worry about it too much just make sure you find the right one make sure you set them up in a nice friendly location other than that they pretty much do their own thing you don't have to worry about anything else they will sort out the economy they will sort out the trade just keep an eye on their levels and make sure that you can keep increasing their trade skill whenever you can so just keep popping down into that character tab keep them a look and seeing when you can upgrade them and other than that guys that is pretty much it for the companions i think um to dismantle them to disband them you just have to go i think it's in the clan and you go parties caravans and you just press disband here you can also see their troops and their wages so we've got a look at that as well there are perks that we and she can get to reduce their wages too there are loads of different perks that can you make you and that character benefit from trading in a caravan loads of little things you can get as far as i know you can open as many caravans i think it's just yeah i think you can just set up as many caravans as you have companions so however many companions you can have you can set them all up as caravans if you've got the money to do so i don't think there is a limit no i know i've never set up ridiculous amounts so i'm not entirely sure and other than that guys that is it that's all i have on caravans for you just make sure they've got that trade skill and then keep an eye on them and make sure you keep upgrading it the more you upgrade them the more money they'll bring you on that guys that's it for caravans um i'll do the benefits like way up whether or not it's better to get a caravan or a workshop early game i'll do some verses and then advances and
