all right hello everybody so the first thing you want to do is go to file and create a new document this will pop up and you will go to full hd which is 1920 by 1080 make sure the frame rate is 24 pixels platform type action script 3.0 and we're going to create alright so um our main focus in this video is to actually help you to understand motion swings and we are also going to get into graphic symbols and movie clip symbols but i may break those up a little bit more into more videos but first let's understand what motion twins actually do so first things first i'm just going to create a circle and notice that this circle is edit a boiler i can edit this move it around and change it however i need to change it because right now it's just a shape and not a symbol but if i want to make it to a symbol i just select it and i can press f8 on my keyboard and it will pop up saying convert to convert to symbol and the type that pops up by default it's movie clip now the other way i can make this into a symbol is to go to insert or i'm sorry not insert but modify convert the symbol and notice that right here it shows you the key command which is f8 that we just talked about so if i select this same thing pops up and mostly we'll probably be using graphic symbols but um between graphic and movie clip um it doesn't really matter for what we're doing right now so you can keep it at movie clip because that's what it's going to be by default um we will probably not use button because buttons are made for uh websites so you can animate your button if you are um creating a button for a website but that's it so we're not gonna have to worry about buttons ever in this class so um let's convert this to a symbol i'm gonna call it ball one ash yeah ball one i'll just call the ball all right so now i'm gonna show you a motion tween so our frame rate down here is 24 frames per second which you can see right here and if you look up here in this area you see one second two seconds three seconds so if you look below the area you can see that where the 1 second mark is that's the 24th frame where the 2 second mark is that's the 48th frame so um i just want you to be aware of that now what we're going to do to create a keyframe at the 1 second mark is we could select this insert keyframe right here or we can press f6 on our keyboard another way to do it is something i've been showing you in class is right click and insert keyframe and what that does is it takes what we already have and copies it over here but also leaving um adding additional space for this one frame so this one frame is covering up all of the space and then we have this keyframe which is the frame that we're gonna change so we're going to change this frame and move it move this ball over here so that's the change so now we have this symbol in this frame and the same symbol but in a different spot so what a motion tween does is it fills in the gap between those two so if i select between those two keyframes i can select create classic between and now you notice there's the animation so it filled in the gap now it is going to be um robotic at first where it just moves from point a to point b at a constant rate now if you want to add um a little bit more flavor you can go to ease in well go to your properties panel and from here you can go to the effect or the tweening effects where you can change it from classic ease to ease in or ease out and um i like these in and out because usually that gets you what you want so if i press enter it use in and it fuses out now if i just want it to ease in i can select between my frames right here and notice i get a lot of options a lot of different options when i'm selecting here versus when i select here or here or hold up here or here so if i select the object my properties change to what i can control how i can control the object if i select the frames where the motion tween is it gives me my tweening options so make sure that you know the difference between the two all right so if i'm selecting this tween uh in between this tween so i can change my my uh ease in and out i can change it to [Music] different types of these in like the cubic and let's see how that looks it's like it's slow found just a little bit before it stops so let's try that one that one should be interesting let's look at this see that that is pretty cool now normally to get this type of effect you have to you know plan out some animation like how am i going to make it look like that but it's a really cool effect to add and have done automatically so it's pretty cool let's look at this one so it starts off very slowly speeds up and slows down real fast yeah so what i would want you to do is to first um create a ball symbol or movie clip then use that to create a motion swing going from one side to the other and that's it in the next video i'm going to show you some other ways we can use motion swings all right see you in a little bit
