Now, Dominic Savio was one Now, Dominic Savio was one
of the boys that Don Bosco of the boys that Don Bosco
took care of, and he died, took care of, and he died,
a very saintly life. a very saintly life.

That’s the kind of way That’s the kind of way

persecutions, calumnies and persecutions, calumnies and

You know what I thought? You know what I thought?
There’s nothing here that There’s nothing here that
says it--I’m wondering if says it--I’m wondering if
that was Limbo. that was Limbo.
I just got to wonder because I just got to wonder because
here, here’s what he says. here, here’s what he says.
"He says, ’No, whatever is "He says, ’No, whatever is
here is of the earth, here is of the earth,
although improved beyond although improved beyond
conception by the power conception by the power

Wow! Wow!
Don’t that sound like Limbo? Don’t that sound like Limbo?

"And Dominic Savio said, "And Dominic Savio said,
’Oh yes, yes, yes, yes.’ ’Oh yes, yes, yes, yes.’
"He said, ’Now look in "He said, ’Now look in
distance." distance."
Poor Don Bosco’s looking, Poor Don Bosco’s looking,
and way in a distance he and way in a distance he
sees a most beautiful light, sees a most beautiful light,
way out. way out.
"I looked, and a ray of light "I looked, and a ray of light
suddenly appeared, so suddenly appeared, so
penetrating and of such penetrating and of such
brilliance that I had to brilliance that I had to
close my eyes. close my eyes.
"And I cried out in alarm so "And I cried out in alarm so
loudly I woke the priest up loudly I woke the priest up
next door. next door.
"I opened my eyes after a "I opened my eyes after a
moment and said, ’But surely, moment and said, ’But surely,
that’s divine light.’ that’s divine light.’
"And Dominic said, ’No, "And Dominic said, ’No,
even that does not give you even that does not give you
any idea of divine life. any idea of divine life.
"’In Heaven we enjoy God, "’In Heaven we enjoy God,
and that’s everything,’ and that’s everything,’
he said." he said."
I want to impress upon you, I want to impress upon you,
because this was so visual, because this was so visual,
what we could forfeit by what we could forfeit by
living a bad life. living a bad life.
And this isn’t even Heaven! And this isn’t even Heaven!
This is, (heavy sigh) This is, (heavy sigh)
I don’t know what it is. I don’t know what it is.
It’s an ante-chamber. It’s an ante-chamber.
Maybe it is. Maybe it is.
Who knows? Who knows?
We never did know We never did know
where it was. where it was.
"I had by now recovered my "I had by now recovered my

"Then I realized the red "Then I realized the red

"And Dominic Savio said, "And Dominic Savio said,
’I am God’s ambassador.’" ’I am God’s ambassador.’"
Now, you get the Now, you get the

something that’s kind of something that’s kind of

This old Irish woman This old Irish woman
didn’t want to die. didn’t want to die.

Now, Don Bosco was a practical Now, Don Bosco was a practical

the opportunity. the opportunity.

"And Dominic Savio said, "And Dominic Savio said,

"’Look over there. "’Look over there.
"’There is a great gathering of boys.’" of boys.’"
So Don Bosco looks in So Don Bosco looks in
that direction, oh how many that direction, oh how many
there were, hundreds and there were, hundreds and
thousands. thousands.
He said, ’Now look what’s He said, ’Now look what’s
written on the entrance of written on the entrance of
the garden.’ the garden.’
It said, ’Salesian Garden.’ It said, ’Salesian Garden.’
’Now, all those there are ’Now, all those there are
those who have been educated those who have been educated
by you or your sons.’" by you or your sons.’"
Then he said something I never Then he said something I never
forgot when I read this forgot when I read this
years and years ago. years and years ago.
"He said, Dominic Savio said "He said, Dominic Savio said
to Don Bosco, ’Count them if to Don Bosco, ’Count them if
you can. you can.
"’But they would be many, many "’But they would be many, many
more still if only you had more still if only you had
greater faith and confidence greater faith and confidence
in God.’" in God.’"
That scared me. That scared me.
I don’t know about you but I don’t know about you but
it scared me. it scared me.
And all my life--my life And all my life--my life
since I began to know Jesus since I began to know Jesus
--you know, I’ve always --you know, I’ve always
feared that, always feared. feared that, always feared.
If I think God has inspired If I think God has inspired
me to do something, I’m me to do something, I’m
going to do it right then going to do it right then
and there. and there.
Why? Why?
I’m afraid. I’m afraid.
I’m afraid to I’m afraid to
disappoint Him. disappoint Him.
I don’t know what’s I don’t know what’s
tagged on. tagged on.
In all this that’s gone In all this that’s gone
on the last 20 years here, on the last 20 years here,
sometimes the greatest sometimes the greatest
miracle was hitched onto the miracle was hitched onto the
tiniest inspiration or a tiniest inspiration or a
phone call where you could phone call where you could
just as well never made. just as well never made.

Kind of scary to me. Kind of scary to me.
I don’t want to miss an I don’t want to miss an
opportunity. So Don Bosco was, he felt So Don Bosco was, he felt
very bad. very bad.
He determined that from then He determined that from then
on he was going to have more on he was going to have more
faith and more trust in God faith and more trust in God
and you need to do that and you need to do that
tonight. tonight.
We all do. We all do.
We need to have more trust We need to have more trust
and faith in God. and faith in God.
We need to. We need to.
You know, we have upon You know, we have upon
ourselves many gods, ourselves many gods,
many gods. many gods.
We have the god of We have the god of
computers. computers.
You say, "Well, what’s wrong You say, "Well, what’s wrong
with computers?" with computers?"
Nothing, unless it’s Nothing, unless it’s
become your god. become your god.
Everything is run by Everything is run by
computers. computers.
This whole network is run This whole network is run
by all kinds of machines, by all kinds of machines,
big machines. big machines.
If we didn’t have them, If we didn’t have them,
we couldn’t reach you. we couldn’t reach you.
We couldn’t talk to you We couldn’t talk to you
about Jesus or a place about Jesus or a place
that’s not Heaven--it’s that’s not Heaven--it’s
pretty close, though--and pretty close, though--and
it’s real and it’s there. it’s real and it’s there.
Well, you see, what’s Well, you see, what’s
happening is, I think in the happening is, I think in the
world, we can do anything. world, we can do anything.
We can accomplish almost We can accomplish almost

We put a man on the moon We put a man on the moon
and then we got tired of and then we got tired of
that and we do other things. that and we do other things.
We clone sheep and now We clone sheep and now
they’re cloning, trying they’re cloning, trying
to clone a human being. to clone a human being.
And see, we’re so And see, we’re so
preoccupied with these preoccupied with these
modern wonders that they’ve modern wonders that they’ve
kind of substituted for God. kind of substituted for God.
We don’t need anything. We don’t need anything.
We have a lot of gadgets, We have a lot of gadgets,
millions of gadgets. millions of gadgets.
You push a button and this You push a button and this
happens and you push another happens and you push another
button and that happens. button and that happens.

some not so good, see. some not so good, see.
And we’re trained 1st grade, And we’re trained 1st grade,
2nd grade, 3rd grade--we’re 2nd grade, 3rd grade--we’re
trained to use computers. trained to use computers.
Well, like I said, there’s Well, like I said, there’s
nothing wrong with it, nothing wrong with it,
unless you’re so dependent unless you’re so dependent
upon things that God is not upon things that God is not
necessary in your life. necessary in your life.
That’s the problem, you see. That’s the problem, you see.

really--money, position, really--money, position,
greed, ambition, honors. greed, ambition, honors.
It’s all become so much It’s all become so much
a part of our life. a part of our life.
If you’re filled, you’re If you’re filled, you’re
