hey guys Buffalo here about a year and a half ago I uploaded a video on this mouse park 514 shot good now that video went on to become one of my most popular uploads and I've gotten a lot of questions in the comment section today I'm going to try to answer some of the questions that seem to keep coming up over and over again and let's get started all right so one of the questions I get real common real often is my Mossberg 514 has a fixed full choke and I shoot slug syrup yes you can't shoot slugs sir as I demonstrated in the review video I did on this gun and Remington has even went as far as to to put that right on the box you can shoot a rifle slug through any standard choke meaning anything from cylinder bore right on up to full choke that includes modified improved cylinder light modified all that stuff now you get tighter than a full choke into say super full extra full also ultra full you know you're getting into specialty chokes then like turkey chokes and such and you want to stay away from using slugs through those now that doesn't mean that a full choke is going to give you good accuracy that slug is going to have to squeeze and deform a little bit to get through the choke proportion of this burrow so most of the time you never say never always but most of the time a false hope will not bring your gun to its full accuracy potential if you have screwin chokes and you don't even need to be asking that question you've got it you've got better options you can go with a I would start with a cylinder bore and work my way down through to maybe a modified and see which gives me my my best actors I guess I barely clipped it okay guys another question I get a lot is why does my Mossberg 500 410 only hold two rounds in the magazine - well guys the reason for that is be shipped from the factory with a wooden or plastic plug inside the magazine - to limit you to two realms it will actually hold five without the plugin but they limits you to two rounds to comply with hunting laws now if you're going to do any kind of hunting at all with this shotgun I would just leave the plug in it that way you'll never get in any trouble because if you take this thing out hunting with the plug removed especially migratory birds a small game like squirrel and rabbit may vary from state to state but if you're going to go out and hunt does for fits good and you have the plug out even if you just got three rounds in the gun - in the mag and one in the chamber you're still won't get a fine and mr. green britches is probably going to walk away through shotgun okay let's say you're never going to use the gun for hunting so you want to remove your plug for to keep the gun around for self-defense or just range fun whatever you want to use it for just remove your barrel and the plug should shake right out of there yeah this one has a wooden one in it I have seen plastic ones in some shotguns this one is up you can see it's about the size of a number-two pencil and that keeps you legal for hunting all right so another question I get a lot is Buffalo would you use a 410 like the 500 Mossberg for home defense and my answer to that is if someone was in my home trying to attack me or attacking a family member and I had this shotgun handy I wouldn't hesitate a bit to use it yeah I would use it for home defense does that mean that this is my go-to shotgun for home defense no it's not I feel like there's a lot better choices and I have in my home I have better choices than to use this for ten but I can see with all the self defense ammunition that's become available for the four tens in recent years that it would be an option for some people especially maybe those that are recoil sensitive for whatever reason okay guys I've got two rounds in the gun the first one is a two and a half inch triple lock book has three pellets in it the second one is a three-inch triple lock book with five pellets in it to see how they pattern on these targets here from about 20 yards let me go get these targets we'll take a look at them okay guys this is the target we hit with the three pellet two-and-a-half-inch buckshot triple op bookshop you can see I got hits here or let's see yeah I got a hit here here and here and then it looks like the wadding went through right here but these are rated at factory rated at 1,300 feet per second I don't know if actual velocity I'm getting but each of these pillows they don't care if they came from a 12 gauge or a 10 gauge or a 20 gauge they're hitting just as hard as if they came from any of those other shotguns the difference is you don't have as many over here we got the five shot the five pellet triple lot where it was a longer shell the velocities a little lower still hits hard eleven hundred and forty five feet per second advertised got a hit here here here here and here and the wadding is actually still stuck in the target it almost went through but as you can see this would be a pretty devastating round to be hit with okay guys the fourth and final question I'm going to try to answer here today is why is 14 ammunition so high well I'm not an industry insider I don't work in amo industry but I can take a guess that it's because they don't sell as much of it they they can concentrate on 12 gauge and 20 gauge and running it all day long and sell every bit of it and then to run for 10 more than likely they do some kind of setup and teardown just to run some 410 and get it out the door while they could be running another gauge and and they're going to want to you know make it worth their while to run that 410 that's one of the disadvantage to shooting a non mainstream caliber or gauge the ammo was usually higher okay guys one thing I didn't show on the review of the Mossberg 514 I'll go ahead and take a minute to show you that now is that you can actually load this gun uh in the magazine tube I don't have one in the chamber you can load the magazine too but you can also unload without actually cycling around through the chamber okay guys I had some more stuff I was going to do today but it's - it's rained us out and I don't get a chance very often uh you know I work full time so I don't get a chance to make a video whenever I want when icepack doesn't go home today because you guys got any more questions go ahead and put them in the comment section below I do read them all I try to try to reply to all of them it if I could make sense of what what's being asked of me but go ahead and subscribe to my channel and like I say questions down below we'll see you again soon
