Mortal Shell Developers React to 28 Minute Speedrun

somebody in the chat in the chat on his stream saying there's people that worked very hard on this game i think we're supposed to be we're supposed to be upset [Music] all right uh andrew here from cold cemetery i'm here with my partners and co-founders uh vitali and anton the three of us founded the studio together with dimitri parkin who couldn't join us today um exactly and uh we're excited to sit here and be entertained by this amazing speed run hey everyone here super excited yeah it's gonna be fun to watch what happens 28 minutes or what is it like 30 30 it says about 20. that's gonna be intense i wonder how a dumb way to say that i see so we're going to just be seeing somebody roll dash and roll non-stop some secret jet pack that we didn't know existed or something you can move like that i mean in real life it's faster oh wait wait how did you skip that that thing completely is capable it is now wow okay yeah he's off to uh to a quick start for sure he knows exactly what tutorials you can ignore oh i like that he hit there just to get him out of the hardening just to make it even faster all right yeah clearly knows everything already oh this is unskippable right you can't skip this yeah that's that's the break to drink some water i guess we've been getting some dms uh asking if we can make some of these skippable on the first time from the speedrunners specifically because i imagine it's pretty painful especially if you like you beat the game like 10 times a day yeah i probably want to watch it again but then if we do patch that in then it messes up messes with all the times so they'll have to do all those speed runs again you can also skip it by the accident like if uh really knocked it out of the park all right let's see what what's going on [Laughter] okay in that version there was an exploit where you could if i recall like push hardening and attacking at the same time and it would allow you to break free from the initial get up animation also let's start removing all the [Music] to get inside like the the tunnel yeah all right that's amazing it's interesting that he could actually use the the tunnel though while still in the other animation yeah that's what i mean like you somehow find it i guess in uh what what's the most interesting is that you see a close-up of his butt right at the beginning of the game did he just skip the intro for the i was just for the camera somehow uh it looks like that there's no cutscene andrew cutscene is uh he's fake so it's an illusion well he he's he managed to find the tower yeah okay that's a huge achievement a lot of people don't even find it i mean it's right there so he like went to the tower instead of doing all the hundreds of side quests you would have split before you mentioned that it looks like it yeah oh my god what's going on oh i know what's going on it's going to get the uh oh oh wow okay wait totally planned i think that's planned actually so he he has a safe tower without having to run run back okay because he got the he got the the upgrade right the spike yeah i think so he did yeah damn it's impressive because otherwise you'd have to kite grisha to the point where he wouldn't kill you while you were opening the chest in order to run away and i guess that whole thing like he looks straight up like skipped that whole animation too and just got the item and that's it yeah yeah all right that's gonna be interesting i'm a radiant you have to get to a certain point in the animation of the chest wait what the hell wow that's the one where the meme where where he was going into outer space and swimming with dolphins and transcendence time yeah that's amazing okay okay the meme came the meme was a prophecy [Laughter] holy [ __ ] that was insane all right like that jump he's too fast for them all all it would take is him to get hit by one of those arrows uh rocks the little stone slingers um yeah a lot like this is a speedrun and also no hit run essentially i mean hits are allowed he uses them right to like respond well he can't get hit right because of the hardening thing but still yeah like no damage i guess then yeah yeah that's clearly exactly what i mean yeah that uh skip was crazy oh yeah yeah it is interesting that sheldus is the fastest ah so we're unexpected right because of the stamina yeah if you're good i guess you can take the risk he also knows exactly where all the um upgrades are for the weapons collecting just those i wonder how many answers i saw i think i saw a tournament and people were trying to do it fast and some people would take a shell because they weren't confident in their ability to not to not take a hit it's like a more of a practice run you know it kind of blew my mind like other day i saw somebody use this item for getting kicked out of the shell and they didn't miss boss fight me in the middle of the boss fight to get kicked out and then reclaim the shell just to get their health at full back again if you farm those i've seen people farm them and then like make a whole collection of statues of shells that are just waiting for them you can have like a shell garden that's cool i didn't see that i don't think that'll be part of this video though probably not i mean he's going for the speed already unlocked the shortcut there bosses are probably easier with this because your stamina pool is so big you can just it's so easy like you just don't have to get hit once well yeah i mean it's easier to attack them in a way easier to be more offensive yeah that's true all right imrode already stomach pain that's why you don't drink something you don't know about yeah yeah when you i mean how does he drink it [Laughter] why did you have to say that andrea [Laughter] [Music] to hit or something i was expecting something like that there still will be a fight of some kind thank you for the bit he's gone at it all right oh wow okay yeah sure he makes it so that the rng of the attacks like doesn't even really play a role here makes it look very easy i think in the end so you know we have to restart the fight uh i love that kick what gamer does that yeah oh sorry all right it's not really fair for a speedrun though because there's not a great way to avoid it so yeah i'm getting unlucky just being an [ __ ] yeah i mean that's why it has no damage right because yeah wow okay it's gonna be fast well this is it's fair like what i was worried about if you found a way to just one shot the guy somehow i'll just skip holy [ __ ] okay one i down [Music] we don't know yeah okay i thought he skipped [Music] oh he's not gonna use them he didn't use the sisters along the way and now he's just getting back to their personal checkpoints yeah whoa okay that's bold yeah that is a big move for sure so he must pick up some time somewhere because these first three sections he was overtime right yeah like six seconds does that mean he did better is he going for another spacex missions again another rocket launch yep he is oh my god kiss me every time oh wow okay oh he's just using oh this is just to go to the merchant that's one way to speed up because wow so you're gonna have to run around the tower that's amazing so i wonder why he doesn't bring back all the glands at once and instead is bringing backfire one first maybe it's faster than going from level to level because you otherwise you have to run yeah but yeah it's a good question i wonder why he stops at the on the old prisoner right maybe to get the grenade to get the parry maybe that maybe the dps off of that is in the game because it's worth it i think it's powerful so maybe he'll use that that was close very entertaining so this one is going to be interesting how is it going to turn out yeah that's how it's [Laughter] um yeah yeah i only counted three wait i didn't see him here yeah he died no he was already done one he he took one at least for sure in full grim and then another one in the temple oh no it was three or four there i think he was trying collecting those that's grisha time look at the damage see oh wow all the people that struggled to destroy him oh my god wow he just melted him yeah i didn't even use the super moon yeah no need okay uh the bell is gonna use the belt [Laughter] sure whatever man [Laughter] wow okay that i guess that's one way to do this i was pretty sure we have a full damage i'm pretty sure we had like a kill volumes and everything somehow he he must have fallen like a hundred times a hundred times there to really find a way to land that one trajectory it almost looked like he rolled right before the impact and that saved him from taking the damage it almost looks like magic that's like convenient to get i guess there's one at the shop andrew's quiet he's probably trying to add the kill ball in there he's like right now [Laughter] or maybe he just went to cry a little bit in the corner yeah you guys can hear me crying a little bit nothing more you've been really i still retain your decency it's still very noble crying tarsus offensive offensive approach i like that okay he knows yeah he's like come with me oh why he skipped because he has the fire grenade already right unless unless he wants to get like a different perry i don't know why maybe he doesn't need to anymore this is the most divergent berry probably so yeah hippo is gonna go there then oh no okay he's gonna give it back all right all right then maybe he he just likes to do this stuff i mean you have to go through all those dialogues anyway so he skips oh my god this way look at this he's not supposed to be here uh all right where the [ __ ] all the people who have trouble even navigating the map in the regular way he can like go out of bounds and still know where he is he just goes like he shoots himself from the orbit right at the precise spot he's like all right this one's that's a clever fast travel thing maybe we should do it for the next game with that with you that's just how you travel yeah that's how it travels it's really convenient how's he gonna do everybody right oh apparently very easily like never mind exactly i thought you did yeah you can't do that but apparently i thought you couldn't do that either maybe foundling is skinny enough you can sneak by maybe chunky because i'm usually chunky boy when i'm testing that well here he can he he at least can't skip half of the level because he has to activate those locks anyways yeah that's lucia has to run for some time here oh wait she didn't oh no he's there is there another one over here oh okay oh really what what there are no collisions uh if you're brave enough that was amazing [Laughter] incredible that was a legit surprise yet i think qa left that in just to troll us back door why he was scared of that girl over there the failed ones like oh whoa what what did we have a portal there really yeah so many people asked me there were a lot of people right at release asking me um to tell them where that was all the portals i can't find this i can't find that how do i get to these i didn't help them good well they don't need your help anymore andrew you see what they're doing that was awesome yeah this is so cool wow just practice [Laughter] i was thinking i missed that too [Music] it's like wow my house is on fire it is quite awesome this is a long walk oh he's out of stamina that is a long run so apparently you can actually drain the stamina fumbling you run for 30 minutes i see now you know the way to do that yeah all like in real life if you roll for 30 minutes you are out of stamina yeah and only you have to wait for like three seconds to fully regain your energy scientifically accurate exactly we've been doing scientific scientific research to make it to make sure it's like in real life like even while falling he get closer to the bus there's my last run there's somebody in the chat in the chat on his stream saying there's people that worked very hard on this game i think we're supposed to be we're supposed to be upset i mean it's a little upsetting how he easy he makes to look those boss fights i was like hmm yeah he's just doing some damage yeah oh he missed that one okay i mean like we didn't expect you could get max your weapon upgrades like in five minutes all right okay this is cool though like use the grenade and then you keep fighting him and then use hardening to absorb the grenade that's awesome yeah those combos are sick yeah he's made up a lot of time on this level i got the weird yeah yeah i wonder if that skip like with the gate it's hard to pull off like one kill because you have to kind of roll a few times maybe that one is a bit sort of not very consistent try to do it i kind of want to try it like that one that role see how hard it is pretty sure it's super difficult and i'm definitely gonna lose time here we can close it put the spike there yeah like you troll do it you try doing that you just die right away you explode yeah yeah that one he just has to get away from that attack there's oh there yeah the kick yeah the con what happened oh cause one of the brother is dead now right a little brother hillary clinton cartwheel yeah he's just excited for the grenade he's expecting a lot of damage he's like is this from your little brother that was fast well basically it's almost the end i guess right it's just one one three more minutes yeah you must be telling me like he's gonna be the unchained the remaining feminines my god i guess there is a way to do that maybe he comes back and he already left he's just so scared the final boss doesn't want to fight him yeah it's like i'm out this is some [ __ ] i don't want to do this and there is there's also pretty long cuts in there that you can't skip i guess we're about to find out if if it's like almost a minute then he beat the boss in two minutes that's pretty insane yeah i'm excited to see it's gonna go down okay this is it final boss we're already here it feels like they're just a little wacky yeah like i'm both excited same time it took way more time to make it all and then the whole game is done in 28 minutes yeah some you know like some some really tasty dish that takes you a full day to cook and then your family destroys it in like 15 minutes it kind of feels like well at least you can't skip this cut scene yeah let's see the awesome tail and the body of unchained that dmitry designed it's called i wonder if he knows the dialogue by heart since he's probably really um listening to it or maybe his first maybe it's his first playthrough he's just so badass oh yeah all total natural yeah total bad girl when the foundling backs up in that last sequence it always reminds me of that meme where it says like wtf you know the guy with the the long hair i'm not sure if it's from trailer park boys i see ya now he's looking like what is this the unchained witness witness me my miserable pity means i don't see people using golden bell very often he oh yeah well he just used it right yeah for resolve yeah ah look at that so he's just pretty much gonna stun the hell out of him all right yeah look at that attack cancel on the running attack uh after combo three he just completely cancels out of the third combo piece yeah and then he like just resolved more at like three hits or oh my god look at that yeah yeah like that sorry it like still goes through and then also the running attack interesting so he'll kill him before the bell runs out all right yeah it looks like he'll have plenty of time left on the bell he'll never caught you with the bell afterwards he might do another one maybe we could set up like a timer if he killed this boss like too fast another three of him spawn right here surprise oh he didn't laugh okay he didn't let him do the whirlpool yeah and then you try to do whirlpool again and you cancel him out of there there is no way he can do that yeah just one let him yeah he couldn't do anything oh my god yeah this is it's kind of cool from like thinking about it from a lower perspective how overwhelmingly the foundling crushes the unchained you know yeah yeah yeah it's fine unchanged the founding is like 30 minutes old i'm gonna be off record by like 10 seconds and it's gonna suck yeah okay he matured already killed three bosses so 30 minutes insane i guess it's not it's not over till the credits roll like literally that's how they count the speed runs i guess i mean that's really just like meantime i guess right we see like the in-game yeah yeah wow curious here we go because that excludes the loading screens right well done you're well done if it wow then damn well there are some things there's lessons to learn there for sure it's incredible yeah that's like significantly longer it's impressive that you know you learned this so fast too like the game came out recently like you know i've like seen a few speed runs before in my mind this was something that you know takes quite a lot of time to really master okay 28 minutes holy [ __ ] yeah and he was very really good yeah i wonder how many times he actually played it already at this point to make it that fast you know yeah good question yeah that's pretty impressive super impressive yeah how does one well cultivate such a skill set [Laughter] education dedication yeah impressive yeah yeah it was fun yeah that was fun for sure i hope one day to be that good at something well you already we can stick to making games though we just need to make them a little longer and that's all yeah i'm gonna be a speedrunner i'm gonna be a speeder of the boys that's awesome all right all right well that was fun and fun i guess yeah yeah thank you everybody for for watching this uh yeah At 20:13, Anton is so confident "at least here he can't skip half of the level". Oh my sweet summer child.

This was really fun to watch and listen to the developers, they sound really happy with the reaction to the game. Can't wait to see more from them.
