[Music] [Music] [Applause] our Father our Father who art in heaven who are they the heaven hallowed be thy name how the chosen is a multi-season show that authentically shows you Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met him Madame's you have a home my home is many places as I have a much larger job than just being a craftsman or a teacher oftentimes when Jesus is the main character of a show sometimes it's really hard to identify with them because he's the son of God but when you see Jesus with these other eyes and when you can have characters like Simon Peter and Mary Magdalene and Nicodemus and Matthew the tax collector you can find a character that you truly identify with we have colorful and fun you are stoic and purposeful one of the main themes of the chosen is Jesus makes you what you're not I really believe that if we can see Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met him we can be impacted and changed in the same way that they were your skin must everything burnt every bridge if I don't catch a ton of fish it's a help somehow they'll arrest me we've heard from so many people who've seen this show have said the Bible has come alive for me and my life has changed because of the way the lives of these people were changed we are not afraid to take you through some painful circumstances this was an oppressive time that people were in poverty the Jewish people were oppressed by the Romans and we shown the pain but these people felt I am in hell giving worse I owed taxes we all do so when they do encounter Jesus and when Jesus impacts their life in the way that he does it creates an even more unusual experience because we've taken the time for you to witness what these people were going through this show is about finding those moments of pain and oppression and sadness and turning them into indescribable joy follow me you as well yes you James and John come get to see each of these characters completely transformed simply by the fact that they are called by the sun-god fear not for I have redeemed you I have called you by name [Music] if the Messiah has aa anything is possible Philip you see the chosen has become a movement that we didn't even see coming when we decided to finance this show through crowdfunding and we ended up shattering the old-time crowdfunding record for a show about Jesus [Music] I believe you have experienced a miracle Mary this show feels like it's something bigger than all of us I was one way - how I am completely different and the thing that happened in between with him [Music] Chad Prager tell you Barry hey man it's good to be listen that was a fantastic interview in there yeah Dallas is a pretty amazing guy well Dallas is a talented guy I mean he's done so many talented things over the years and this projects no less you know when you have a guy who has that much conviction about the project he's trying to put together and knows where he's going with that or you can really see that vision pouring out of here and there man in the fashion yeah they're making a fantastic deal and I think when you've got the right vision it will that's what gets you up in the morning and it leads to that passion that thing that you're willing to spend your life Drive that's right but listen let's jump over and talk about you just a little okay as enjoying some of the things you were sharing in here but but your passion right now the thing you're really working some your comedy yeah we do comedy and humor what we tried to do is is years ago is I just started looking at the crazy things in the world things you see things I see because let's face it we see the crazier crazier way we see it in a bigger way than we've ever seen the world because of social media and 24 hour news cycles the television remembers when we were kids a television went off right now it's around the clock 24/7 so I started looking at things that we all face and I said you know let's make that funny let's look at that and just poke fun at the human condition and these days people are so thin-skinned that they get offended when we when we point at need a safe space yeah yeah they do it's so I said but of course that energizes me even more oh yeah because I love that's got like fuel on the fire look I got a wife three dogs and cat five kids and a vasectomy man I got I got all come here for suede on my ground and I got six kids out the deal all right but with five kids and a wife and all that stuff I mean you gotta find some humor in life at some point that's true you know we have a good time with it we have a blasted and God's opened up this great opportunity for us with our podcast and being able to travel on the road around the clock and hear everywhere all over the country yeah so and then being able to hang out with you but you also have a have something people and hang their hat on it's each that's what we try to do you know we've had we've developed over the years you know roughly 5 million followers on social media and had in our Facebook videos alone have been viewed about two billion times are just crazy so it's something normal Archer I'm a face it's something about that just that genuine way of saying this is who I am and I'm not gonna apologize for it people come back to it right and then hopefully like you said give them a little something to hang on to and truthful walk away with yeah we need some more truth in the hour don't we you said thank you bless you Dallas Jeffie Berryhill yes I tell you what Dallas this is amazing and I just like to ask you quickly what's this passion driving you well I believe that if viewers can see Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met him they can be impacted in the same way that they were and so what we're doing with the show is unlike a movie about the Bible or about Christ where you only have 90 minutes 120 minutes for a ton of ground right this is a multi-season show where you can actually dig into the characters but you know them and identify with them and relate to them on a human authentic level and that's what the showcase so you have a you have a real heart and passion then for people to know Jesus for who you want well yeah right it's one of the driving forces main driving forces in my life and it's certainly the driving forces to show us I want to introduce people to the authentic Jesus lived and breathed and interacted with people just like us okay so how how is it that Jesus has impacted your life to such a degree that that would be your passion today for such a this is this is quite a project yeah well this project actually comes on the heels of one of my biggest professional failures I had a feature film that has set up to be a big success and I had multiple films lined up but I was going to be doing and the film bombed at the box office so I went from the director with a bright future with multiple big production companies to a director with no future and through my wife and a friend of mine and prayer God in kind of a miraculous way press on my heart deeply it's not your job defeat the 5,000 and told me to provide the birds and fish there you go and so this is do it I hope I hope you heard what what Dallas just said yeah and so now my whole life has shifted and has birthed this show which is the notion that I can't worry about the results I can't worry about what God does just what I'm doing I can only worry about making sure that the loaves and fish that I do provide are as good and healthy as they absolutely well Dallas I'm gonna I'm just gonna tell you I see an anointing and I'm and I've just listened I've watched today but but one of the things that blesses me is is that that truly I've seen it over and over that it's that degree of brokenness right the Lord works in one's life before they can truly break forth and bloom I mean that seed has to be put in the ground and died right and so I want to thank you for what you're doing because if there's ever an hour that Jesus needs to be known for who he was and all that he is today's the day yeah and I want this show to have a big part out the Lord bless you any way we can help we want to absolutely thank you sir bless you today is the beginning of a two-day period when we're outside the first few days we were inside the house now we've got fifty extras showing up today from a logistical level that makes it challenging filmmaking Linus's because it's got more people to control in the heat it's supposed to be must be over 100 today or outside the 50 people but also to sterilize this scene is about how Jesus is starting to attract a larger group of people so your presence here is actually one of the key points of the scene and it's one of the things that causes some of our actors to react is my goodness whoever this guy is is clearly attracting a crowd so you guys have a dual purpose not just background also or grabbed Jesus was a disruption whether you were for him or against him he was somebody that you couldn't turn away from people wanted to see what was happening you know anything about it in modern time we like to see except that we haven't seen before I saw it with my own eyes the line starts from the edge of the Jordan into the Acacia grooves as far as the eye could see and so you hear Jesus teaching things that even the greatest teachers weren't teaching at that time he was really shaking up the world of course crowds are going to gather and this is a threat to the Pharisees it's a threat to the Romans and so what do you do with a threat you try to put an end to it and so she well is trying to make sure that this stops immediately and then we pull back and we see mcaddie missing we can really start to see that inner struggle going on one of the nikko key moments Nicodemus where he sees for the first time in person Jesus actually do a miracle and sees the crowd reaction and that's when the wheels start to turn and he says I need to meet with this guy and that leads us of course to John chapter 3 well we're seeing not only Nico's response to Jesus but we're seeing that Jesus is actually starting to have an impact on a large group of people which threatens the Pharisees and threatens the Romans which is why they've got Romans here today we've got Pharisees here today all being threatened by the fact that Jesus is creating a stir well it's really exciting just to be here all together with the chosen again boy I mean I'm just so excited about part of the time I can't be quad and they have to show well the thing I love the most about my job is that I get to basically work with all of the backgrounds actors which is a lot of fun because they're usually not trained actors they're just coming in because they're excited to be a part of it so a lot of times when I have background come in they've never seen a film set they don't really know what's going on it's all new to them it's a whole new exciting world and I get to be the one to kind of assure them into them right here you go back now Dallas does all the actual directing but I try to lay the groundwork for them of saying hey in this scene you were listening to actual Jesus Christ like this is this is Jesus here in this room talking so the story as far as background is concerned especially for today's scene is that they are just walking around their daily lives in this village and they hear a voice and the voice is sang where's that they'd never heard before in sketching their attention so we see people as they're walking kind of stop and look in and you know see Jesus speaking to his group there and they want to come and join in and hear what he has to say so over time we bring in more and more background until it's all filled out everyone's listening to him more like this way alright so sukhiya not only is this a massive story but it's a personal story and that all of these people are starting to respond to Jesus which impacts our main characters and so how our main characters are interactive and it the fact that there is a crowd and it's building is to keep the story point of episode six [Music] you I'll tell you what it's not every day that I get to stand between James and John and none of us are exactly in our attire today I've pulled my jacket off because of the heat but let me tell you these are two amazing men we got to visit with them just a little bit and guys y'all are playing a major role in this show the chosen how'd you get here what is it that that impassioned you to be a part and desire to be a part and play the roles that you men are playing I think with with all of these with with any television obviously you're auditioning for two shows and that's how the process works but I think what's great is that I think every actor that has worked on this show has found that once they've arrived on there's been a a feeling on set there's been an energy and I think whether or not we were looking for that we've definitely found that on deserve found it yeah and I think it's and you will ask a lot of the cast's and maybe even crew and they'll probably say similar thing they're experiencing that yeah it's quite there lifts and and and it's it's because we all know that the message is is great and it's something that transcends time language beliefs anything written that the message will always transfer and it's great this all lives matter and absolutely I mean yeah amen how about you Jane yeah I mean it starts as George Ellery says the studs with the audition process but eventually it transcends and then once you're actually on set and you have a greater insight off what's going on here and you have more view and get deglet along with everyone become some sort of family and and it just it just you learn so much man on set you get a broader view of what's going on and you just contribute just yeah are you part in it and it just yeah as I said it's just transcending just whatever you know your uh your role James the first book of scripture that ever memorized with a book of James was it oh yes and it is one powerful book and in so many life lessons if you look at that whole book and you see the process of the develop of faith and how that that works you talk about transcending it will it will move a life from zero to a hundred absolutely it really will so in this role of James what part of James life right now is impacting you most me personally is my my bonds with my brother because we're going on a journey it's an adventure it's an whole arc and whatever we do we do it as a unity to some sort of extent and we both have some sort of an I think them impact on the people because the show itself is talking about transcending is it's it's it's out there it's it has a piece for everyone there's something for everyone in it and since it is an arc and it's a journey it is more focused on the people themselves and so that's where James it's really just it's it's real it's not just a no cuz it's focused on and a human aspect on the people themselves the stories it's just not it is a biblical story it is but it is more focused on other people and then interactions and all their all their emotions and everything is involved in it so I would say it's just the unification of James and John and the impact they had and that's quite contemporary as well whenever you look at anything that is I think they call a postmodern you don't go from the perspective of the higher up you go from the perspective of the lower of the people so that's why it is called the chosen we're seeing the story of Jesus of of reality in real life exactly we're seeing from these people's perspective and you're gonna get longevity then also you're gonna get all their different ideas of how that story is told so you don't just get this one uniform way of telling the story you've now got what is James think what does John think what is Simon think it is even an instance where Simon is thinking a certain thing and John needs to sit there and go it's okay calm down and so we all get our chance to do that and that's well guys what a blessing I just wish you both the very best any some whatever and and I want to tell you because when you started your first answer eluded this but I'm gonna I'm going to tell you man I just told Alice yes there's an anointing of the Lord God Almighty upon what you're doing and I asked his richest blessings made a God of peace fill you as you work this project thank you very much likewise we can thank you very much okay it's over all do we give it two thumbs up chosen twenty thumbs up what was amazing about it it's a pretty amazing story isn't it it is pretty crazy to see it come to life it was like just what happened then and it just was amazing I've thought of it as Mariposa's perspective I thought of it and we on Wiseman's percent respectively I've never actually thought of this story in the Shepherds perspective and it really gave me like a whole nother way of looking at than anybody story everybody has to know that the concept of it of like him being like this not so popular not like normal and then turning into a a follower of God was just amazing [Music] I tell you what this is my day now I'm standing between Peter and Andrew it just doesn't get much better than that and I'm telling you you know Peter one of the things that one of the places and passages in scripture that just blesses me so in fact I was sharing it this week I was I was doing the teaching on it but it's it's basically where Peter says may grace and peace be multiplied to you you hear the heart of the father right there and then it goes on to tell you how so you ask people this question would you like grace multiplied to you would you like peace multiplied to you and then it tells you how you get that this is through the knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus Christ I mean it just lays it house so beautifully so you plan an amazing part tell us what playing Peter has been like yeah so at this moment it's an interesting thing that at this moment my name is Simon and I'm not introducing as Peter at this moment of the show okay and so I'm I stopped the show starts and a episode one I'm a fisherman and I'm in deep debt to the Roman Empire oh yes and my challenges are to try to bring to my family way out of this situation I'm in deep debt and I'm looking for any of way oceans and solution to bring home to provide for my wife who played by wonderfully by Lara Silva even in this in this version there is a there's a wife so I'm trying to provide and at this moment where we catch Simon right we are we are four in the first four episodes trying to to find a way around it the fourth episode will dilemma exactly and the fourth episode ends with with the fish miracles there so that's where it ends and then the second part the fifth episode starts from another point so after the miracle of the fish and my eyes were as were brought in as disciples of Jesus that's where we these four that we're filming now okay um here in Weatherford that starts there where we're sort of getting the the team together to go off and then and then of course yeah absolutely so in speaking of the team what are you guys sensing right now with this group and team what's it doing within you oh well I'll say that the crew has been unbelievably gracious with their energy and time and and the cast we all get along very well and and we it just been I feel very grateful to have such a wonderful people around to work with and and to bounce ideas off of and just last night we played a scene with it was it was Mary Magdalene and Simon and I and the Thaddeus and little James and we're just sitting around having wine at a very famous wedding yes very famous yes and so we have this moment where we you know take you know maybe three four hours to shoot the scene and we're all just having a great time at 2:00 in the morning yeah you know what you can hear is that it's pretty easy hanging out with our friends yeah now did you guys know each other before now no no no the first day that we we met the night before we did first try this we went our dinner director I didn't know yes but but the next day we the first scene that we shot is Andrew coming back and telling Sam so that's taken from the fourth episode telling a Simon what he saw and Simon disbelieving right before going to Fisher I got a chill right there yes Wow that's our first you know we start there in a very peak of those episodes and and yeah and since then we've became good friends we're all good friends yeah pretty easy cuz we're hanging out with our friends and yeah you know everything is having a good time at moments at moments it's tough but you know you got your friends out right there you got your brother you know 4:30 in the morning I know that's crazy yeah you know one of the things that I have just been so blessed with not only when I talked to Dallas but I really sensed it talking to Dallas but with with James and John we interviewed those oh yeah and I'm telling you but that hour from the time we drove up in the parking lot out here from the man that kind of directed us where we needed apart yeah everyone like you said has been so kind yeah there is such a sweet presence and spirit overall yes there's an anointing here and you guys are engaged in an extremely powerful work in this hour of history and I just want to thank both of you thank you coming on you and so the Lord
