Minivan Camper Conversion - Easy DIY - Dodge Grand Caravan

here we are with living the life lindy out in the arizona desert and she's agreed to give us a tour of her minivan today so welcome along here we go all right lindy take it away all right so again i'm living the life lindy i am on youtube i'm on facebook as well lindy marie so check me out there um i am a full-time solo female nomad don't have any kids i've been doing this for about seven years i used to be in a scion xp now i'm in a 2016 dodge grand caravan awesome yeah i just pulled out a few random things just to kind of show you a little bit more detail we'll get into things in the van too so first off this is my portable garbage it is plastic so you can wipe it off which is awesome it also collapses and it you can put it together on both sides so it's flat which is really nice i do keep it outside i have not had any issues with animals or anything um which has been wonderful because i wasn't sure and i don't want a real garbage inside so i know i got this at walmart oh great how much do you know no okay that's fine um and then these are just a goodwill pans that i found but just just kind of show like what i do with them just briefly for my food big ones mostly for pasta uh this little guy i make an egg every morning usually have an egg sandwich and this guy i use usually for soup awesome that that covers most the bases most of them yeah i think most nomads do use eggs quite extensively don't you think i'll show you i actually don't uh put mine in the fridge okay a lot of people don't right we'll talk about that a little bit and then this table i do know i got it from walmart and it was around 18 the reason i got this one is because it's adjustable and as donna knows with us tall women i would like something a little bit easier to work on because i do put my one burner stove which i'm not going to show you because it's under my bed okay but it's a one burner propane stove and i think it was like 25 awesome so that's that all right so we're gonna start here at the driver's side door i'm just gonna briefly go over what i carry at my door um so i have some car supplies i've actually been having a little bit of a car issue it seems to be okay now but i keep anything from my car up here i also keep plastic bags for garbage velcro that i use to keep up photos and such i do have some fly ribbons which i can i haven't used these yet but the flyers are starting to come out so i will and then a microfiber towel for dust is that sea foam spray there uh yes this is this actual spray i was going to use on my throttle but apparently it's too far under in the dodge grand caravans to get to so i couldn't do it myself but my check engine light went off so i think my fuel injectors are okay great that's a lot of car it makes me seem smart but my other thing is of course an umbrella everybody needs one not like it rains a lot not very often but yes sometimes also everybody needs that dreadfully so yes so that's where those are kept um otherwise uh just in the window i have a couple hats nothing you know that's special i put up this flashlight just so you can see i have one flashlight it's solar powered oh nifty so i keep it in my windshield to charge it doesn't take long to charge it actually lasts quite a few hours on one charge but i usually keep it up here just for storage and such all right so briefly within my console underneath i do keep all my cleaning supplies like lysol wipes wet wipes some extra masks things like that in the middle console i have some electrical things like my wii boost for my phone to help with reception and then i have kind of the back console the jack of all trades like a kitchen sink like cabinet or something like a drawer and i just keep everything within there across the way passenger side that big bag is my laundry bag and then passenger side the floor i keep my water and i keep some extra supplies paper towels wipes things in case i uh can't get to a store and i need them i keep them there awesome [Music] hey lindy whenever i met you last fall um i think you had about a twin size bed didn't you i did actually i just had a bed upgrade done so right now it's out for you to see it's actually bigger a little bigger than a full size and being 511 i thought it was kind of important to have a bigger bed so this actually converts into a couch oh nice so let me just show you briefly underneath what i did i added a hinged as you can see the one hinge it's all the way down it's two pieces it's a 15 by i believe 72 length and this hinge piece will go right under my regular mattress and then this extra mattress will actually go up and it'll convert into a couch very nice so that makes for good daytime use or watching movies or whatever like that right okay great what else you got going on um so just briefly uh this is a cooling blanket if you're curious about blankets i use this usually when it's too hot i have this on me it keeps me cool otherwise i put it on top if it's a cold night okay and then i do have a couple jackeries i do have a 250 jackery i have it plugged in right now i charge it when i'm driving and i also have a 500 jackery 250 i use for all my small electronics my 500 is pretty much strictly for my fridge okay so this is the fridge i'm sorry if it's not available anymore um it's an ostranvic if you want to catch that it's eco-friendly it pulls about between 30 to 40 watts from my 500 watt jackery at a time it runs i'd say maybe every hour and a half to two hours and that's if i use it say three to four times a day maybe even three to five times a day so i don't pull much uh power for it and then it's pretty big don't know the dimensions unfortunately but being i came from having a little cooler it looks like plenty of space it's wonderful and then my shelving unit here four shelves they are 24 inches deep by 15 inches wide obviously the fridge is on the bottom second one i keep all my household items and butane propane things of that nature the shelf i keep my dry goods and up here i always have a gallon of water back here in passenger seat on the ground i keep my extra water and then the two bins you can't really see in the back here those are for all of my t-shirts pajamas undergarment socks things like that most of my clothes are right here this is a newer add-on too i made it closet so i just put items together as outfits to make it easier to get things in and out and to fit more and this is from amazon and it works really well on the shelf so i'm loving it underneath the shelf kind of on the side here you can't really see but i keep my eggs keep them for about a week only but i keep them out here's my jackery 500. everybody has to pee so this is what i pee and this is important if you don't think it's important you're not a true nomad and i'm so big because i don't want to miss especially when my bed is out as big as it is if it's not in couch mode again i'm tall and you know yep the way sometimes you have to bend i don't want to miss and being in a small space yeah i really don't want to miss this is just my gym bag i do have a planet fitness membership for showers so i use it on occasion or any showers i take and it's collapsible which is wonderful so i just keep that under my closet otherwise the other two items here this shoe bag this plastic bag i actually cut down to size for the back of my driver's seat keeps all my toiletries and things that i use on a daily basis excellent and then i have my shower sprayer here which i use for brushing my teeth washing my face washing my hair is that the kind that has the pump that goes down into the bucket of water goes down into the water and then it's battery operated so it's not its own pump system it will just spray oh nice and it has different settings let's get a close-up of that go ahead oh very nice so it has the bigger spray and then the more classified spray these are my wipes you can buy these pretty much any grocery store if you look hard enough you're talking about the container that the wipes are in which that's very handy and i got them of course they had the huggy swipes in there but it can really carry anything usually a regular size packet not the big like bulk packets just fyi because you keep those open with rails yes they do this is my newest heat source i had a little ceramic heater one of those little desktop ones that i pulled like 200 watts at a time so i'd only use it like 20 minutes at a time so now i have a propane the portable mr buddy which was about fifty dollars i did get it at walmart and have you found that base to be sturdy enough yes it's been wonderful but as you can see here i have carpet i got this from goodwill for ten dollars i cut it to size great kind yeah so it actually sits just wonderfully on here great it almost catches the carpet now if i didn't have the carpet it probably would be a little unbalanced okay yeah great so now we are inside my teeny home on wheels i'm just going to start here on my left and we'll just go around i'll tell you briefly what's going on so first off donna if you could go kind of down by your other hand you'll see this round contraption that's my lucy string lights those i use instead of the collapsible lucy lights as many people know and love i love the string lights because as you see they fit perfectly on the side of my van in the hooks that were already there and i can use them outside nice very nice plus they're so bright they have three settings it's compared to the lucy lights uh these are beyond i mean the brightness in them is like being in a hospital not like everybody likes that but there's three settings otherwise here in the middle i usually keep my travel on pack this is for my small power cords and then i also keep what is called a jet pack for those that aren't too familiar with techie internet options this is like a hot spot from verizon so i keep that in the middle and i keep this all right here as well as my head lamp nice home for that yes just at the end here i have a speaker that connects to anything bluetooth i use that when i'm watching movies and such and my headphones i have if i'm in stealth mold if i'm in the city i do city stealthing as well as boondocking here in the desert national forest and stuff so i like having both and then up here i have two of these that's actually a light source as well as a fan and then in here behind my little united states artwork i have my pepper spray and then i have a candle and i have earplugs lighter just small little things and this is squishy chicky is important this is my little this is my pet it's squishy and it like stays right here yeah nice and clean you don't have to feed him nope and he doesn't talk back and then with this this is my reflectix i actually tape both sides so i have the black mode for stealth and then i just have the color mode and i love this color yeah it's really happy it's just duct tape and it's the duct tape brand and i got it at walmart i think i use for all my reflectix three rolls so i used a lot and then these guys i got at the dollar tree and what i do because i bend this open for light i just push them under and they actually will hold my reflectix up so cheap fine dollar tree one dollar to hold your reflectix binder clips are a very handy tool for most nomads definitely we use them in different ways and then back here you'll see in my garage with all my tools this is my toiletry bag with my makeup and just my laptop lastly i have called a hot logic this is a newer item i bought and i actually buy frozen meals and i cook them inside and it is it is an ac it's our regular household outlet to plug in okay i believe they do have those in 12 volt as well right i do those i think are the road pros yeah but those you can't fit the frozen meal the actual box in them okay um so this is wonderful it doesn't take a lot of juice check out my channel i did some reviews on my products because you want to know more information right here i do have an indoor garbage it's just a foot pedal one it's a travel size i have a light up making mirror um these are the two pillows i use uh just quickly this um they're really special to me because the material is my grandma's attic and a trunk and my friend made these pillowcases for me great way to keep your memories alive so this is one of probably my favorite items in here and then um my friend's daughter made me a picture oh and i keep my pictures up here with pins that i collect oh that's great so it's a good way to display things and then right to your left there is part of another shoe organizer and i keep household goods bathroom goods etc up there great and she's got her cute little mirrors which is decorative and can be used to look at an eyeball or something okay hi folks this is lindy living the life of lindy how are you doing [Laughter] too fun you see lindy's a fun gal we just have a lot of fun around here so this is the other sliding door side i keep my camel back here for hiking i have my knife for protection but i also use this knife to cook whoops and i had it up in velcro i swear it stays we've got a little bit of shadows going oh yep it's gone now whoops sorry that's all right and this is my collapsible uh wash bin i actually use this to wash my hair normally i got it at walmart yes and those are very handy very handy so fridge is under there these are my shoes these are very important and this is the rest of that cloth shoe organizer i cut off the bottom and then this bamboo mats for outside when i'm actually somewhere without big rocks otherwise just up here i keep all my coats on the passenger seat again my laundry bag water extra supplies laundry items i keep in this door and then this thing i can't tell you how much it was i know it was from amazon this is the brand if you try to because people ask about these all the time it's just a stick on oh that's cool uv protection obviously a shade protection but i have two for the front two for the side pretty now so thanks so much for your time today lindy um we i've really appreciated the van the
