hello out there in tv land [Music] i wanted to kind of do a side-by-side comparison of the timeout camper and the compact camper now i've added uh the solar panel to the top of this so it's a little it's going to be a little bit more heavier i don't really have any way to weigh either one of them but just keep that in mind it and you can add stuff to this one too as well but and i got this uh little trunk toolbox that i put on top and i've got it cooler here on the compact i've had it for a little bit longer than i have the timeout i did get the timeout set up with a swivel hitch both of them have that and the front tongue jacks with a wheel on there to be able to move them around easily but i thought i'd show you the difference in size comparison and the way they set up hopefully it'll be of some help to you i do have a rack that i'm going to put on the front of this one for a cooler i just haven't done it yet but at any rate i'll go ahead and start by showing you the difference in size as far as measurements go okay this is the width from side to side on the timeout and it looks like we have 43 inches wide the compact width-wise our ruler came off we got right at 40 inches wide so there you have the width as far as the length goes the length on the timeout is looks like 64 and a half or they're about 64 and 3 8 and the compact looks like 60 inches all right at five and five foot so four inches difference on width and four inches difference on the length not really that much difference at all and there you can see the width difference and i'll show you the length difference here although they're not even right now the back of the compact is scooted back a little bit farther than the timeout makes it look like the timeout's a lot longer but it's not so there's your links and so forth i guess the timeout is a little bit shorter in height than what the compact is maybe i should show you that as well here's the compact i'll get my foot on this ruler here so it looks like the compact from ground to the top is you can't see there 34 right at 34 inches the timeout just a little bit shorter at 28 and a half inches somewhere around there probably 29 if it was level so there you have it that's the two hey everybody in doing a comparison i wanted to kind of compare how long it takes to set up so i thought i would show you that now also i'm going to be showing you the setup time that includes removing the solar panel so here we go i got four of these wing nuts on two on each side that i need to loosen up first of all i'll remove the plug while i'm here it's a little stiff for some reason so it just comes off and you just set it aside for now so then we remove the rail for the stand on the bed and it goes right here these latches is what holds the lids down you got one on each side myself store my clip so then we flip the lid and a couple of things about the timeout that i do most people may not or may or may do i don't know i store my awning zipped onto the timeout itself so you'll see it here in a second this one's fully loaded so i've got a few things i got to move out of my way here just to get a step to get inside the camera first thing i'll do is i'll bring up the mat the back bar i've got this cross rail bar i'll put it there that's not supposed to happen so anyway red on red as you can see the red thing there and you just put it inside the hole and push up push that all the way to the back and then the front one moves up then you got another pole that has a blue and a yellow and then if you wanted the awning i've got the awning right here on the top of the camper i could flip it out and i had three poles for it with uh tie-downs and stakes to set the awning up so there you have it uh the nice thing that i like about the timeout and i'll show you here on the inside is that when you set this up you've already got your cushion for your bed and i've got some lights back there that i attached so then i can just flip that around this one here came undone my my rare earth magnets came off of it it came undone but it plugs in up there and then attaches to this pole and that one will attach to this pole up here i can bring it out and move it if i want to but what i was saying was this cushion is included with the time-out camper and it's already attached same way with the tent the tent's already attached all the way around so you just come around here and pull these side pieces down to protect for the rain make sure you get them outside the tub i had one instance where i didn't get them out i got some water inside the camper for the most part it's set up and and ready to ready to camp like i said my awning i keep it up on top like that i also keep these outside lights attached to the awning and it all just kind of folds up and goes inside and everything's self-storing okay i thought i would go over the pros and cons on the compact camp basically it's a five minute quick setup and it took a little me a little bit longer because of the fact that i had the solar panel on there also it's a kind of a one-person setup easy to do for one person and also the tent being attached speeds up the the setup tremendously also in addition to that the bedding being attached helps with the setup time as well because you don't have an air mattress that you need to get ready and set up and do all that stuff with so and then tear down obviously with a an air mattress this one here you just fold the cushions up inside and you're done so hopefully the only the only con really that i know of on the mini mate is the small smallness of size and then it's a an end load or a side load i guess you would say where when you're sleeping in there your partner who is against the outside away from the door if they need to get up in the middle of the night they've got to wake the other person up or crawl over the top of them to get out and that's really the only disadvantage for the compact okay this is the timeout how it's set up and hopefully we can kind of time out the two and see the difference so the lid on the timeout just pops up folds down like that this is your this is your bed basically a platform for your bed foams out like that and then you get your tint material out and stretch it out a little bit we're going in the right direction stretch out this way i made a mistake by not putting the jack stands down with that should put the jackpot down first especially walking inside of the thing could be a little bit dangerous and so what i normally do is put the four corners in first try to get them as close as i can and it helps to get it solid and just snap on the corners same thing for the rear so now you're ready to go inside the camper start pulling up the poles so that's the front one that's locked in i'll move the camera up here so you can see the rest of it as it's being set up like so and there you go so now you've got all your poles set up the camper's down except for the front there there's a little bit of a thing that you used hold this bar up right here these straps they go around and velcro back down to themselves that pretty much holds that the rest of your process would be to set up your table and the way you do that pop this plug out here stand down there set the table like so now i'll show you what i have to do now is go around the outside with every one of those snaps snap these down to the camper all the way around like so if you've got two people that are setting this up one person can be putting the snaps in while the other person is inside finishing the setup on the inside the only problem the thing about having the time out is the fact that there is no uh bedding material once it's set up so you have to have some sort of a air mattress or something of that effect i bought this thing it's called king camp and i'm going to see how it works right now i've never never used this before but supposedly it's a self-inflating uh air mattress and it's about an inch and a half thick so hopefully it would suffice i'm gonna put you back on the tripod here see if i can show you how this thing's supposed to work this is my first time using this thing so bear with me here i don't know how it's gonna go they say if you leave it in the sun it's better to come out it opens up better it's also got two pillows with it there's the pillows i suppose yeah it's sucking air there it's supposed to be self-inflating and then then what you do is you just let the air back out of it once you squeeze the air out and just close the plug back up same way with the pillows they've got a little valve on here that you open up supposedly self-inflating you can see that one kind of stretching back out there i don't know how long it takes but apparently it'll get to about an inch and a half two inches thick hopefully that'll be good enough to sleep on i'm out okay so the timeout basically uh pros on it is that it has a large interior you've got you know it's great for two people easy to get in and out of without waking the other one up as far as having to get up in the middle of the night it's got a little bit of a dining room there with that table and you can you know sit there and eat if it's raining outside or play cards whatever you want to do the only cons really is that it takes a little bit longer to set up it's a little bit more difficult and it may you know for one person it may be a little bit too much if you don't have the strength and capability also the tint not being attached lengthens the amount of time that it takes to set it up and also there's no bedding that's included with the timeout camper so you'll have to have an air mattress of some sort the one i'm using is a self-inflating one and then it you just compress it down when you get ready to leave i can see it being a real problem if it's rainy or wet trying to roll that thing up but i'm willing to give it a try for the added space but as far as a single person goes i would suggest the mini mate and that's just my personal preference whenever i travel by myself i take the mini mate whenever i travel with the wife i plan on taking the time out there you go i hope that helps and we'll see on the flip flop also i might mention there's only a few inches difference between the timeout and the mini mate which you know i think is a an added plus in itself because you know a lot of people say oh my gosh that's so much bigger well no not really i mean it's it's a little bit bigger but not not huge not a huge difference you
