Minimal Image Slideshow Animation in After Effects - After Effects Tutorial

hey everyone my name is abish shake and today we are going to create this clean and minimal slideshow animation in After Effects now it's very easy to create and you can use it for different kind of purposes so let's see how to create this all right right in after effect and I've already imported a couple of these images now it's completely up to you can use image videos whatever you want just import them in After Effects and you are ready to go so first we'll begin byring a new composition so let's call this one main width and height will be 19 20 by 1080 frame rate you can set this to 30 FPS duration you can pick whatever you want just click on okay now I'm going to create another composition for our image let's call this one image 1 rest of the things will remain same just click on okay now let's open up the image one composition and let's quickly select one of these images and I'm going to just drag it inside if the image is Big then you can select this press s to scale this down however you want so once you're done with this let's go back to the main composition and let's drag our image over here perfect so first we are going to create the animation for scale link down so for that we are going to create an adjustment layer so right click new let's add an adjustment layer now we are going to divide this into five different parts but it's completely up to you can just divide it to whatever number of Parts you want so I'm going to select this press s and we're going to unck this so I want the five copies of this layer so I'm going to just divide the 100 by 5 which gives me 20 so we have the small portion and I'm going to duplicate it five times so that we cover the entire screen so we have one copy over here and I'm going to just place it over here let's select this press crl D let's Place one over here again press contrl D let's Place one over here press contrl D and we need one more copy press contrl D and the last one we can just place it to the end now we're going to make use of the Align panel to align them properly so I'm going to first select the bottom layer and I'm going to align it to the left side now if you're not able to see the Align panel then you can go to Windows and from here you can enable it now once you have aligned this I'm going to select the top layer and I'm going to align it to the rightmost side so let's align it like that now after that I'm going to select the bottom layer hold on the shift key and select the top layer so that all of these layers are selected now you can use the distribution layers option to distribute all of them so that all of these are aligned perfectly just like that now once you're done with this we are going to select one of these so let's select the middle one and on this one we are going to apply a Effect called transform let's drag it onto the layer and now we are going to use the scale property to animate this so first I'm going to select this let's add a key frame for scale press U and let's quickly zoom in and I'm going to set the scale to something like 300 now we can go somewhere around 20 frames and I'm going to set this to 100 now we can select the key frames press F9 to EAS them then we can go inside the graph editor now if your graph looks different then make sure you are using the speed graph not the value graph let's select the end point and I'm going to make the curve to start a little bit faster something like that so now if I go back and play it you can see that we have this very nice scaling down animation perfect now I don't want this to be visible in the beginning as well so I'm going to add a key frame for opacity and I'm going to set this to zero now we can probably again zoom in and let's move this to somewhere around five frames and I'm going to set the opacity to 100 so that this is visible like that now we want the same effect on all of the other layers as well so I'm going to just select the transform from effect and let's go to the very beginning and just paste it onto all of the other layers like that now if I play back you can see that all of these are coming down like this now I don't want all of these to come at once so we can add little bit of delay to them so I'm going to select all of these press U to see all the key frames now this is the middle one and we going to probably zoom in now I'm going to select the key frames and let's move it where we have this end point now let's select these and I'm going going to move it where we have this key frame like that now we are going to do the same thing over here as well so let's select this let's place it over here let's select them and I'm going to just place it around here so now if I play back you can see we have the sort of thing and I think this looks perfect so once we're done with this we can just leave couple of frames after that somewhere around 4 or 5 seconds so let's leave it around 5 like that now now we can select all of these layers and right click and I'm going to first prompose them let's call this animation one make sure move all attribute is selected just click on okay now I'm going to go inside this composition and we are going to go to somewhere around five frames and I'm going to just move the end point over here or you can press the shortcut n and now you can right click and let's trim com to work area so now we only have this region perfect now we can go inside the main composition and we have the animation one now in the same way we can create the other copies as well let me show you how to do that so before we continue this now we have animation 2 now if I open it up you can see we still have the image one so I'm going to select the image 1 and press CR D to create another composition with image 2 let's open this up and inside this we are going to just replace it with the different image whatever we want let's pick this one and I'm going to just drag it over here perfect we can probably delete the other one now we can go back to the animation 2 comp and you can see that we still have the image one so we can just replace it with this one so in order to do that hold on the ALT key or option key on Mac and then just simply click and drag it and you can see that it will replace it with the new composition now we can go inside inside the main comp we have the animation one now we can drag the animation two here as well let's move it over here now you can see that as I play you can see that we have the first slideshow and now you can just add the other one wherever you want so we have the first one we have the second one and just place it wherever you want something like that now if you want you can add text to this uh it's actually quite easy let's go inside the main comp and you can select the text tool just simply click and type whatever you want now align it to the center as well let's make it Anor point in the center so hold on the control key double click on this now press s and let's scale this up quite a bit something like that now you can probably select this and let's go to the image two let's paste it over here now you can type something else now if I go back you can see that we have added our text as well perfect now in the same way you can keep on duplicating this this and just make sure to duplicate the image comp as well and after that just replace it with whatever image you want change your text now if you think that the image is too bright then you can apply a exposure effect to crank this a little bit down so let's drag the exposure onto the image now you can just make a little bit less ense like that to make the text pop out more so once you're done with this let's select the animation and we're going to replace the image 2 with the image 3 so hold on the ALT key and just replace it over here perfect once you're done with this you can drag the animation 3 over here like that and just place it wherever you want so we have the animation 1 2 and three so in this way you can keep on adding these slideshows and you can just have your own clean animation and at last you can have your simple logo or name reveal just like that now if you want to really make this stand out you can add a little bit of light leaks to to this now it's a free light leak which I made and I'll put a link in the description from where you can download this after that just import it in After Effects once it is done you can just change the blending mode to add or screen whatever you want after that press T and just play around with the intensity whatever you want and there you go now you have this very nice light cck and there you go you have created your animation now the best thing is that if you want to change any image all you have to do is go inside this and just replace the image change the text whatever you want and you have your slideshow so this is how you can create these kind of clean and minimal slideshow animations and the project files for this
