[Music] [Applause] [Music] hey guys good morning it's Mike Chen today I am reading Marilia hitting over to Mexico City but before I take off if you watch the last episode I was at this amazing kandi Museum and this morning they're gonna give us an inside look on how they actually make the candies which I thought it'd be pretty cool also supposedly great breakfast here this is the owner of course Hado a very very good man he's gonna show us like the inside look on the candy making process these guys they're making this for over 150 years his family height this is a crazy spread so this is male / omelet and they make all the chocolate in house so this male is very special to the local area it's gonna be different than any other place we're gonna try in Mexico City I love a good cheese Pole in the morning there's not sweet at all but it has that wonderful rich chocolate flavor the cheese inside the omelet is splendid this sauce there's special little spices in here the sauce is incredibly rich you get that nice little bite of onions here that kind of freshen everything up I mean this dish is like it's it's really a key it's it's spicy it's it's just got that great cocoa flavor there's my first bite of male in this country by the way never thought it would be over like an omelette but wow they're so good Oh muy bien my man my man I'm missing out there's cactus in here chilies in here sesame just cover all that in this great thick moly I mean I'm not an expert on male yet but this is something special they make the chocolate here in-house for the sauce so besides the tasting good that's got a lot of love in here this next dish you know cookada my spin is really bad but this is bring Chile's made with these like a little - Tia wraps this is so pretty by the way and this thing has a cookie here which is like a special local fruit Wow I'm not exaggerating one bit this is absolutely stunning dish you get that great roasted flavor of the chilies it's got some heat which I love everything about this meat is tender the to TIA is nice and soft that sauce is so lovely just a smoky spicy thick rich creamy chili sauce next dish chili Kelly i'ma do i'ma do is yellow chili Kelly are these like triangle little tortilla looking things here and this is a very common local dish it's got beans fried egg feta cheese little greens and let me just get a little bit of everything here I love it I feel like my breakfast each day just keeps getting better and better this it's not like the other two dishes at all this it's spicy its citrusy it's got a nice subtle little punch it's got a great salsa on top the chili is yellow pimiento it's got such a nice kick to it oh man the other two dishes the spice is there but it's not trying to like brown house you in their face but this this comes out swinging this is that sweet tamale stuffed inside our chili pasea which is a dark wrinkly pepper okay that's a little crunch we broke through the chilies skin and this is all sitting on top of a tomato based sauce trip some of that sauce on there it's kind of like medium-hot paired up with the sweet tamale and there's some trite fruit in there as well to give it a ditional a little sweet flavor and the Chili's skin like you kind of got a crunch through that a little bit and so the texture is really really interesting it's not just like everything stopped not a bat by here so far for dishes Oh awesome I think my favorite stove chilaquiles my day oh that's just got such a nice wake you up kind of citrusy eat their breakfast it's pretty new so people usually just go to the factory for the candy and in the chocolates and win that but check them out from breakfast man this is great stuff all right we're gonna all eat and then we're gonna go see how the candies are made we're gonna try this this is a tamarind marshmallow candy this is awesome so it's marshmallow but it's not overly sweet because it got the next Tim Bernie here pack up my marshmallow candy to go must be how Charlie felt in the Chocolate Factory I think little crackers on the side and the traditional marília candy in the middle it doesn't get fresher than that I love the way how they package everything there's literally hands on everything is made by him even the packaging process ladies are here with ayran just like ironing their packages together on the candy this is as traditional and unique and amazingly fun and delicious as it gets this is the traditional rally a candy super Huey if you like sweet you got to come here and visit this place we're at the candy museum which is connected to the candy shop we're at what's funny is that I used to be Carlos his house here's the look there and now it's someone bought it from him admitting it's your music that's Carlos we're in the museum is this funny I used to be his house why did it have your pictures Vicki story is a history is a preserved in your house was big you had a huge house that's how they used to make candy in these copper pots so everything they're doing here by hand traditional pretty close to see all the way things were done we're stopping for some food this place is really popular rest stop on the way to Mexico City 118 kilometers we're gonna go get a torta this place really just started off with nothing but tortoise and a gas station and coffee and that expanded - ooh everything you see today so I got two types one is beef and one is cod that's bloody amazing what's kind of expecting like a like a hefty bite of bread but this bread is just like you you punch right through it look how thin the bread is on the bottom that's the little little line of bread the beef is buttery is cheesy although it doesn't seem like it's overstuffed the beef there's a perfect balance between the meat and the vegetables and get some pickled vegetables here Oh pickle potato hello little buddy didn't expect to see you here why she vinegary vegetables perfect complement you wouldn't think you come to the local gas station in the middle of nowhere on a way to Mexico City you get this good Papa torta and this is the cod little cheese a little olive um Chili's and chard I mean seriously this all starts with a bread look at this crusty thin slices of toasted bread I don't usually recommend gonna rush stop to eat food but this is amazing the Jews of the caught is soaking into the bread right below a little bit of chillies you get that nice vinegary spicy flavor or that great flaky texture of the cod and this thing that's a juicy I mean you don't have to slurping by with this but it's a juicy fish sandwich she thoroughly impressed with the splash where we got some yogurt this is great pineapple yogurt made right here it's not overly TARP really creamy I asked him for my tummy hundred and eighteen kilometers get yourself a torta and a yogurt all right next stop Mexico City all right sorry almost there this place I have to stop back o karna little bub a boa you know some places just give you chips and salsa which this place does as well but in addition to give you free tacos which is really the way to do it because the shoes walking here you smell that great lamb being cooked and all you want to stuff your face with the taco right away and they happily oblige and they put it on theirs consciously so your tacos training some hot to tell juicy that is you know this flat on this tortilla onions cilantro lime juice and this is spicy make no mistake about it doesn't mean caca some of you might not be into am crushed me clean as a whistle to flavor juicy tender chunks and amber you could taste how slow and careful they stood this I mean all that flavor is an every single bite this you know how in America you stop at a side of a highway you're most likely gonna get a dry McDonald's hamburger or baggage riddled here freshly cooked lamb tacos there is ZERO comparison for just little pieces of fat that's what makes our tacos so incredibly cheap I mean you've got to put some lime juice some onions some cilantro and here she comes right back to the fattiness of the lamb now I know exactly why they give out that frites ha questions you sit down like now that I remember how good this Hawk boys next time I come here if I don't have that talk to my man out within the first 10 seconds I'm gonna get a little upset alright more tacos to come oh we're not no with tacos it's gonna be all about tacos today seemed a bit [Music] hey guys what up I'm here with Sandy she's showing me around local foodie and today we're doing the core doing a chocolate or yes we're doing the target for tonight Mexico only local places so right now we're at what may go Bulow which is like an iconic spot in Mexico City this place has a special recipe and it's all fault originally it was lamb because yeah the Lebanese or when they came over but it's adapted to Mexico 500 so about 200 pounds of meat right they had to use a forklift to put it up there and now everything the fire is going they're putting up with for these tonight what's gonna happen to the other two when I eat two of them I bow no matter how I ball before I want to see it all this so can we do that please yeah let's do it all right so we're gonna order and my man I'm working working at the restaurant 13 years old because what my parents made me do when I was 12 good job my friend you got a nice watch okay so tacos laid out in front of us what do we get yes and tongue they'd literally just give you a slice of tongue it's not chocolate it is a slice of tongue mm-hmm head taco yeah so I noticed on some of the more exotic tacos you only got one is that are we splitting there or we I can do this okay so how do we prep them yeah you're right so spray on the coriander and the onions I'm being generous look on my brain taco do you mind like just putting a mountain of coriander and onions on that nine to one ratio of the grape let's try the regular first how's that just the one roasting on a spit outside your mini tacos and there's stuff I want to say though even without sauce that is flipping insane oh that's a meaty taco I'll try to save her this one that you can taste the fire on this pork juicy got that amazing Vitamix flavor this with a little lemon juice low crunch from The Onion's love of my life sitting on a little tortilla I'm now I'm ready to try something back II because I just had something really good bring on the brains I need to be a little smarter Oh Oh trust me I'm not forgetting the sauce if I'm eating brains Hakka / Shahs the brain let let's do that shall we god that's soft I did get a little smarter after eating that so I'm not gonna order this again dad that's my IQ going up oh my gosh all right no I want to do it normal I want to chase that yes what we got yeah so this is beef meats pork this is what they do in commercials when they really wants to show you how to enjoy something [Music] but in this case they're looking ocular I haven't record porky sausage flavor with the people I am I feel like the beef is a little under seasoned let's go I'm tasting a lot of this ariza which I'm not complaining I love to bring on the eyeball I just say something good I want to chase it with with an eyeball you know you know in Chinese culture my parents always tell ya because we try to get the kids to eat the fish eye and we save eat the fish eye your eyes become better am i able to have like x-ray vision after eating a cow saya or something poop eyeball I think I won't like it if I didn't it was eyeball it doesn't taste gooey where anything there's a lot of cartilage and chewy it's not bad but now that I know it's an eyeball in my head I'm just like I'm meeting her eyeball I mean it doesn't have any special flavor to it okay um yeah lemon juice is crucial to a good taco it really is we need that nice citrus flavors you say like usually people had like four lemons poured wedges it's like one taco yeah I would do that too oh it's like super juicy stuff I love it that everything that was a great little like entire cow expedition for the taste question mmm-hmm I love the visuals of this place walk in how you see his piles of meat if I ever die just drop dead in front of like a hopefully in front of a plate of dumplings I want to walk through food heaven and just see like that like a mound of different piles of meat grace tart we got more stuff to go after we call this alright so sandy took me this place we're getting three-prong tacos and they're all different what is this one here the most important things you're like Chipotle I'm like Dean and Franz D and then you had to add the cheese I'm like ding dinging okay look at this so chipotle sauce we go the spices as in here Oh enjoy excuse me while I lick my finger don't let any of that sauce go to waste bring me so much flavor pounding into them well look at this room this is everything I dream up when I think of a spicy chili filled taco I'm gonna just have a have a chili ahh I got that garlicky flavor it's roasted and it's got that nice char hey you know what I'm a single person I mean kissing nobody garlic me up there you go give you that one of the hanging cheese that's a prized piece of a cheese flip to hanging jeez - Metis sweet shrimp I love things with multiple crunches crunches tortilla crunchy chili using double sauce so El Diablo Ashley hello Pete el Diablo taco [Music] how spicy could this be el Diablo it's more like you want a meet-up of content right a little danger because I think it's it's so like good spicy yeah it's like angelic it doesn't scare me it makes me love it more do it she toggles by the way very different from the typical table you see on the streets almost elegant no where's that the horchata mm-hmm thank you for showing me around Cheers nothing calms your fire your stomach dinner nice class over chata so this is our past or what is this this is real piece of cheese oh it's obviously the pork is a lot better than what we had before so the marinades different actual charcoal charcoal yeah and it's only got one tortilla she's fought don't need to explain don't need to explain [Music] another powerful man this is really juicy it is a juicy taco not just from the meat but the pineapple juice is speaking into the meat is that subtle sweetness nice citrus flavor up in the pork a more smoky flavor on the pork a pineapple mouth great place loved it we got more okay this place I gotta tell you I got excited just seen the hot oil that's this plate outside that's why you brought me here and I love you for that this is chili oil with key nuts and sunflower seeds right and this is just chili oil and garlic wait what is this timorous Oz okay all right we're gonna ignore those two just because it's within the presence of royalty here okay so we got this Volken this is so glorious looking she stopped so I'm gonna choose spots and I'm stuffed already I love this I mean I love this don't get me wrong meat and cheese I've never not love that delicious right so it's just like hot well [Music] Jesus great meters juicy I mean it's just so much of everything and the pineapple oh is that the craziest plate of nachos ever happened look at this houses even legal it's just tons of meat melty cheese in between a couple flour tortillas oh so God is there Taco Bell in Mexico I was gonna say dub meat is so so tasty I mean it's roasted perfectly juicy powerful crunchy peanuts something hot oil things you can get in a taco places yeah Greta needed cheese oh it's like a cheese eruption oh my good lord this place does not mess around with cheese you're never gonna have to convince me to drizzle hot oil or anything I mean who wouldn't love this cheese and mushrooms and some onion I love it though this place is really my kind of place because I love a nexus of flavor I love an excess of meat and cheese and now how well it's like it's like it's made for me this girl Mike's taqueria yeah I don't think they seem to like that I think honestly my favorite place so far okay yeah I really like this place we all one more to go close be one of the best of Mexico right I'm tough I'm see you that [Music] alright last play is named Gideon Kennedy supposedly the best tacos in Mexico City you never heard of it we ran into a couple of people that told us is the best so we're trying to today this and then we're trying to persuade they dough which is a baby so there was a guy in the line that was just raving I'm curious go ahead grab grab yours let's try it I wanted I want to hear your opinion I'm possibly the best tacos in the world nice slice of pineapple dig it [Music] I think if all the our pastor meat/meat hat today this is really good because of talker yeah and I think just by the looks of it it's gonna be up there do you wanna know I'm using right it's just like a well-cooked brisket but you have fatty juicy piece of brisket with some charm and it's unapologetically oily and juicy I love it but stalker you've had the Mexico so best taco you had today this one I like this but I also like my punch of hot oils in my cheese but this is
