The name of a comic is the name of the town Antonio Lucero and Alan Benitez are a generation apart, but both are closely watching what happens in the Mexican presidential election on Sunday, June the second, the country stops, everything stops and you're the only thing that you're supposed to do is go to church and go to vote for the first time in the nation's history. A woman is poised to become President Claudia Scheinbaum and Sochi Galvez are at the top of the ticket in the top two political parties to see two women to have an opportunity to become presidents. Is such a special moment in time. I'm super excited Hollande is voting for the first time. It really is a call to action saying that, you know, although we left our country, we'd still like our voice and we'd still like to be heard in Mexican elections. Residents living in the US can vote by mail electronically or in person at a Mexican consulate. Even adult Children of Mexican nationals who are born in the US are allowed to vote if you have parents who are, you know, of Mexican origin now and they have their citizenship or they are immigrants coming from over there. You have that birthright. According to Mexican officials, more than 223,000 people in the United States are eligible to vote in the Mexican election. And officials are expecting record breaking turnout. Both Alan and Antonio say this election with two women at the top shows that Mexico is changing and progressing. It really says a lot about our people and you know about where we are in the world as a country. And it's a message of a country that is moving forward that is living this past in the past and is looking to the future in Dallas. I'm Rebecca Lopez.
