Meantime across the border tonight, their own political showdown. Mexico's presidential election is this Sunday. And for the first time ever, two women are leading the way in the race. The next president of Mexico likely to be a woman for the first time ever. Claudia Scheinbaum is the country's front runner. The other top contender Sochi Galve. Jorge Alvarez May is trailing in third. We have seen that women have been making progress and you can find now, for example, the head of the electoral authority, it's a woman, the head of the Supreme Court is a woman right now. Scheinbaum, the Morena official party candidate is a climate expert who entered politics in 2000. After the current President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador hired her to decrease pollution. She remains in line with his policies and went on to be the first female mayor of city and is hoping to make history again. That doesn't necessarily guarantee a better administration and less corruption. And so people is excited about the possibility. Soil galve is considered more conservative, a tech entrepreneur representing several opposition parties. She's proposed partnering with the United States to form a binational police force to fight crime and money laundering and it's only when the US is pressure in Mexico. Um when they are producing results like with the extradition of drug lords, which are very much responsible for the production of fentaNYL for Mexicans. The economy and public safety are the top priorities. Extortion is a big problem that has increased that we haven't seen in this level for many years. Um This will be one of the worst uh administration of presidential periods in the number of homicides. We are over 170,000 killings since the beginning of this administration for Americans. Though drugs and immigration are among the top priorities for Mexico to tackle the Biden administration is expected to take executive action on the border as early as Tuesday. It would reportedly limit migrants' ability to seek asylum at the southern border with Mexico. Both women have said they understand the importance of cross border relations and will work with whoever is elected here in November. As for the plans for the current president on his Way out.
