It's kind of cathartic to know that Metroid Dread WAS ACTUALLY REAL all those years ago and that there's a good reason the rumors persisted. I can't fucking believe it's coming out THIS YEAR. Like wow.
What does he mean by βend of the story arcβ? No more Metroid games after this? Or no more metroids in Metroid?
I really like how they're making the action more streamlined. Slide to get through narrow spaces quickly, Spider Magnet to climb around without having to rely on the Spider Ball. And it looks like the melee action isn't just a counter anymore, since there's a bit where Samus uses it on a blob that didn't appear to be attacking her. Hope that means they do more interesting things with melee.
This really is something they've been sitting on for 15 years.
This shit is so wild, I canβt believe this is real
He's trying his hardest to explain the gameplay style without going "well there's a genre named after this game, you know"
i'm going to cry i'm so excited
The Sakamoto redemption arc
Small bit of continuity I appreciate, I love how the MercurySteam games have been using the right suits for the flashback sequences rather than what Other M did in retconning in that game's suit into Return of Samus and Super Metroid, so it's cool seeing the Super and Fusion suits rendered fully here in a modern game.
So stealing the Omega Beam from the brain units for a super-powerful, temporary Beam upgrade is a reference to the end of Super Metroid, right?
Also it's probably bullshit, but I had a theory about bringing Ridley back as Mecha Ridley 2.0 and this game focused around killer robots would be aesthetically appropriate.
