[Music] hello everyone and welcome to the ASMR review show for this video I'm try my hand at another tier list video and this one is going to be the biggest most overrated controversial metal band of all time met Alica the band you're not allowed to like once you pass the age of 14 apparently but I still like them a lot so yeah that's what we're going to do Metallica tier list most of this I think is going to be pretty non controversial I do have a fairly standard Metallica opinion when it comes to the albums maybe a couple of differences we shall see when we get to them so yeah let's get into it then first up we have Saint anger which as we of course know is a s tier album it's the best Metallica album uh because there are no guitar solos on it so that means there is no W pedal for Kirk Hammond to use um and it's the best because Bob Rock the producer he's the one on base so the Bas is just there and it doesn't do anything special as it should you know there was no need to drop the base down uh several uh decibels like justice for all um and the songs are long right which is good because the long song means you get more of it so it's automatically better so yeah sa anger it's in the name Saint starts than S so it is s tier and of course I'm joking it's a d tier um I I do actually enjoy this album I just listened to it earlier today I've got to be in a specific mood probably an angry mood to enjoy the anger album but um you know I don't think it's that bad it's it's a d for Metallica but that doesn't mean it's actually a d tier album again these tier lists I like to do them in terms of the the artist um because if I did them in terms of the band most of these are still going to be B tier and higher and we'd like I think a better distribution of the data so it's D for Metallica they've never really Revisited this sound or done anything like that before um they just really wanted to be System of a Down and I get it I understand it um so yeah on the opposite of the spectrum we have an Justice for All which is an S tier album for me um even if the production is not great it sounds nostalgic and vintage in 80s and I like that sound so so yeah pretty cool in that regard and all of the songs are great uh definitely the most priest Metallica album there was up to that point not that it is progue obviously but you know what I mean they were messing around with lots of odd Rifts and time signatures and I love every song on this album so much um it's not my favorite metallic album but probably second favorite though sometimes I do consider if it is my favorite or not my favorite track on there is one of the most underrated Metallica songs France sanity just everything about that track it's just gorgeous yeah so really great album from them um not controversial at all uh then we have the most recently released album 72 Seasons um which I've actually been enjoying quite a lot um I do dig it um no it's not the best Metallica album um but it's got some pretty good stuff on it though uh but for Metallica it's a c tier album um more so on album overall I think it's a b tier but for Metallica it's a c tier album um and that's just because it feels very standard and you know buy the numbers for them there's probably the least amount of variation on the album I think there's only one part on the album with clean guitars it's the middle of the enamorada and you can barely hear it because of the high hat being too loud um but it's pretty good sounding production the base is probably the most prevalent I've heard Robert chilo be on a metallic album so that's good um I like that there's lots of songs based around FP f is a great note we should probably do a tier list of the music musical notes if we do then FP is an S tier note um so that's good um but yeah ultimately it's like I I have to be in the zone to listen to this album and if not then it's a nice collection of tracks to maybe have one or two come up on shule but yeah I'm still looking forward to seeing this live though uh then we have uh the compilation covers album Gage Inc Gage Incorporated which for me is a b tier album and that's because this album really is all over the place the first disc is a bunch of cover songs that they recorded new for the album in the 90s and the second disc is then a compilation of a bunch of stuff it's got the cros days re Revisited 599 598 EP as part of it so that's included here already that's nice and then it's got a bunch of bside covers and then a bunch of stuff where they were covering Motorhead so yeah a whole bunch of stuff which is great but um yeah the quality goes from s tier songs like their cover of helpless to D tier covers um like uh well lover man covers interesting it's is very out of genre or I'm not the biggest fan of their cover of Tuesdays gone but then you've got their cover of um Turn the Page and Whiskey in the Jar is a fun one they like to do a lot it's got Ami evil and Stone Cold crazy so there's a lot of good stuff on here um but maybe perhaps if we had like a single disc version with the best stuff I'd like it better um but yeah it's a good one B tier for for Gage Incorporated uh then next we have Metallica self-titled 1991 The Black Album which is an a tier for me um no I don't like it as much as the first four albums obviously um but it's got a really great sound on it and every track is pretty awesome the only one I'm not the biggest fan of is of wolf and man um but other than that yeah it's fun probably one of the best sounding metal albums you know shout out to Bob Rock and his production on this it's legendary um it's got a lot of good underrated tracks like God That Failed struggle within and um um what is it um My Friend of Misery yeah and of course the big hit songs which may some of them be overplayed like Ender Sandman um but they're all still really good you know so can I complain if it's an overplayed song but it's still a good one well no not really so a tier for The Black Album uh then we have hardwired to self-destruct from 2016 um I actually really dig this album A lot it gets a b tier for me in terms of a metallic album um because it was much better production sounding than the previous Death Magnetic and I like that there's a lot of variety on this album we've got fast songs slow songs different pacings and tempos um there's more clean guitar here than on 72 Seasons you know there are songs that kind of start soft and build into them um it's got spit out the bone which is probably the best song that they've done this entire decade Millennium you know uh since the 90s essentially so that's good um I don't like that it's two discs though and everything fits onto one disc easily like load is a longer album than this album and that's a single dis album you know I get it you want to sell more copies of your album okay um my other complaint is much like 72 Seasons there's no proper ballad song the closest we have to that is Halo on fire which I don't count because that song does start out heavy uh but it's still a good one yeah so overall it's a pretty enjoyable album sounds better than death magnetic flow is better than Death Magnetic um and yeah it's not as um one note as uh 72 Seasons so for that it gets a b tier from me then of course we have Death Magnetic which uh I do really enjoy um every time I come back to that I am impressed by how much I fondly remember it um so you know this album for Metallica oh it's actually tough for me in that case um but I think I'll put it at C tier again C tier for Metallica not C tier overall right um and that's just because the production is not the greatest I really hate the loudness War um thankfully that's been kind of fixed at least on the Apple music streaming version so that is good um and there's a lot of songs that kick a lot of ass on here some of them I think are a little too long or have too many parts like Judas kiss or suicide redemption um I don't like all the vocal phrasings and lyrics like in my apocalypse or unforgiving three um but there's a lot of kickass moments like that was just your life end of the line and they never comes so yeah oh and of course All Nightmare Long is a fun one so they're all really good songs Just none of them quite reach top tier Metallica for me um it was an important return to form based on the time it came out but yeah looking back on it I don't go around to this one as much as some of the other albums so as an overall album it's probably a b or a but for Metalica it's a c am I doing these tier lists right is that what you're supposed to do that's how we're doing it on my channel uh then we have Ride the Lightning which is of course s tier Metallica no hot takes for me on that one it's got a fun killer sound to it The Vibes the the lyrics the energy G it was like perfect evolution of the kill them all sound it basically set the standard for how Metallica would write albums you know slow intro to a fast heavy song the title track the slow heavy song and then the ballad song and then the long closing instrumental right that's basically the Metallica formula and it's for all of their best albums what a surprise um so yeah Ride the Lightning top tier Metallica obviously uh then we have load uh load my hot take is a tier for me I've always loved load and reload I like the sound on them um perhaps it was the way I was introduced to it in that load was some of the first Metallica music I heard um like the first song I ever heard was the eye disappear here Mission Impossible song on the soundtrack for that um and then I had the music video DVD compilation which only has one song from the80s it's one um a bunch of Black album songs and then mostly load and reload songs because those were the songs they made the music videos for so to me that was never weird and different and a style change that was just simply Metallica um and I didn't know the history of how everyone hated that they changed the haircut and the look and the style I just was like that's what it is it is what it is and every time I listen to load I'm just like yeah this is good I dig it it's awesome they were basically trying to be uh aliceon chains but a little more heavy so I I dig that a l lot it's really good uh and the outlaw torn is probably one of my top five favorite songs from them so yeah a tier for load come at me bro uh next we have Lulu which I don't think that should actually be on this tier list because Lulu is not a Metallica album It's Metallica and L Reed which is a completely different band or group than Metallica so I don't think it's fair to really rank this as a Metallica album but I know what you want to hear so here you go Lulu is D tier indeed not F tier there's no F tier on this list and it's not an F tier album for me um I do actually kind of enjoy it but I've got to be in the mood for it and it's like a thing where you kind of got to sit down and listen to the whole thing which I have done before um and I understand understand the concept what the band was trying to go for you know I'm not just like he said table Worst Album ever um yeah I understand what's going on here it's just for me this should not have been like a 90minut album um it was like Lou Reed came in and said okay guys okay okay I got an album an album for us to figure out understand the music the blessing of the inside what is is and what shall now be whatever was yes indeed oh yeah and James said yeah and Lars said how can we make money off of this and Kirk said hey guys has anyone seen my phone and Rob said crabwalk Peace and so they jammed out this album for 90 minutes and then they finished it off and said um what do you think and they said yeah it's good enough release it like they just did one take on everything and that was it that's how I feel I think I needed a little more refinement and maybe it could have been C tier at least but yeah it's a d tier let's not let's not get over about it then we have reload uh which for me is a b tier album it's a little bit less good for me that load because there's a couple more filler tracks in there and I don't think the highs on this album hit as high as load um but I do really like it again it's the same sound and it's awesome I I really don't like that fuel is the only song we talk about from this album when it's got kpdm and unforgiven to and Devil's dance and fixer they finally played it live yes um and even some of the God his great songs are kind of interesting like Low Man's Lyric um attitude Prince Charming right so yeah love the sound of that album still really good just not as good as load so we're going to go B tier for that one and I know that's kind of funny to say reload over 72 seasons and Death Magnetic um but in terms of it being a metallic I I think I come back to this one more than these two um these two are by the numbers and standard this one is interesting and fresh so that's my Logic on it um then we have kill them all kill them all is a tier of course it's really great fun thrashy album do the start of everything we know and it's great and it's fun I love the produ the sound to it it's very vintage and retro but there's a lot of bass in it um there is lots of Bas on master puppets and ride the lightting it's just very distorted so it kind of Blends in um I like to kill them all it sits at a good level of the mix um and yeah again I love every song on that some people like to complain that there's you know too much of what it is but I feel like each song has enough of its own identity it doesn't blend together like 72 seasons does so yeah it's a great album a lot of fun web lash uh and then of course finally we have Master of Puppets which again we won't make any jokes about it's an S tier album for me um it's my favorite Metallica album obviously very generic answer I know but that's just how I feel about it um I love every song I love the sound um even the underrated tracks like the thing that should not be a disposable Heroes and leopard Messiah um Orion one of their best instrumentals um not sure if I like it better than kakulu those are of course the two best ones um and it was the end of it the era for Metallica because that was the last album with Cliff so yeah really love that one a lot um and yeah there you go that's the the the tier list again I don't think we're breaking any new ground by putting these three at the top nor are we breaking new ground by putting those two in a tier perhaps maybe I was being a bit edgy by having load and reload here above these three here um and no surprises that those are down there so yeah that's the tier list you know the sort of semi ranking video for Metallica and yeah hope you all enjoyed that let me know if this was a good tier list and a good tier list video I'm going to be trying to go a couple of these ones let me know if there's other tier lists you would like me to check out and I'll do that maybe possibly if I feel like it y anyway hope you all enjoyed that and I'll catch you next time have a good night bye
