you guys ready for a fun little adventure I hope you are because I think we're gonna have one today I got an email from one of my fans who lives about an hour and a half south of here up the Shenandoah Valley which is kind of weird because the Shenandoah Valley if you go down the valley you actually go north kind of strange isn't it but anyway he has the properties about 30 acres he says got a bunch of foundations on it maybe a lime kiln maybe a distillery but it's just you know just foundations oh he says in a spring on this pretty cool in a cemetery pre Civil War Cemetery with over with over a hundred grades it's been looked at by archaeologists so he wanted me to come up and take a look at it with him and give him my interpretation of what might have been going on and on his property was it just a homestead was it a community he doesn't really know because there's no information that he can find for it so I'm gonna go do that for him today and we're gonna metal attack to this metal detector with me he perrolli does it himself and we're gonna do some of that and I'm gonna show them some tips and tricks and hopefully point out a few places that would be of more interest to him than maybe what he's finding now I don't know again I've never been here so uh he ready I know it's not bright and early but I had a few things I had to do this morning before I could leave that's my offensive sunglasses it's in slight disrepair but I'm gonna fix it up because I have a bunch more to put up there I'll do a video for you just turned a hundred thousand miles on that truck now only blew up once a lot of money and it wasn't my fault I got my book on tape ready to roll this is called team of rivals it's about Lincoln in his administration's 36 disks it takes at least 36 hours listen to it I've already actually listen to it once but it's a fantastic book if you wanted to learn about Lincoln the history leading up to and during the Civil War you know the United States just fascinating so really good book so alright so we made it to the site of Rich's property I did use your name I hope you don't mind we're in the Upper Valley hour and a half for my house it's that okay to say the other one we tell everybody where he lives which makes perfect sense but anyway this is the lime kiln behind me that I was telling you a little bit about in the beginning of the video this is the top of it if you look you can see how it's round right there that's one clue and over here you can see well not so much that way but this is a path going down that way and we walked up this path here and this is probably how they loaded it but with the rocks that they would bring up here the rocks and the charcoal there we come over to here and they would layer and the kiln itself that I haven't been down there to look at it yet but we're going to take a look at that in a minute and that's the little stream down there pretty little stream okay let's go take a look at it what do you say all right right this is kind of interesting where they had these rocks piled up like this I was wondering why it was like that and of course rich told me pretty quickly and it makes perfect sense that they built a wall here and they filled it in up here so they get the wagons or the carts up the hill and it's perfect so sometimes the you know the most logical explanation is the explanation I was trying to figure out now okay aliens did it alright let's go down should I come down or down look at the front of the kiln they've had some archaeologists up here to kind of look at some of this stuff I guess they dug around oh yeah look at that you know that's where the it'll put the line the rocks and the charcoal up there no wood yeah nice that's where the air went in and you see the same thing over here with the rocks of course that's prime stone which is what you need to make lime lime was one of those things they really had to have back in the old days and mortar for their pens and whitewash of course they used it on the fields to lower the acidity the soil you can grow a lot more crops that way and the area we're in if you notice there's a lot of like cedar trees and stuff the soil can be very acidic for their cedar trees even though there's limestone here which is kind of weird yeah probably that's exactly what this thing so all right cool so we're gonna go look at some oh stuff here that is tell a rocks decoded us the lime coming out of solution and makes that coating on the rocks we're at the cemetery that's on the property there archaeology team came up here and did a survey of it's a pretty pretty neat look I have been up there yet see they just finished this survey recently she used to be a beautiful little eyes kind of roundish are along the creek all the white flag either headstone or foot stones and then the pinkish flags are the the cemetery boundaries yeah so there's actually a wall there's actually a wall or the rocks been exposed up here and on that side but it's covered up here but it's actually a couple inches below the surface this is a typical stone I think it's a headstone yeah you could be a foot stone yeah it's interesting that the stone wall is gone why do you think that is went in LAN kill Wow look at that you see all these little divots that's all the kree's kind of creepy walking on them but I don't think they mind too much see it they have little holes and stuff in here how much in the way of real headstones though I say see there are a couple marked ones yeah over there and I'm not gonna show you those cuz you guys will look it up and know exactly where I am look at this to have this many graves here this is definitely larger than like a family cemetery don't you think is there a church here no that's what we're looking for next where's the foundation to the church okay look at the stone here isn't that a beautiful stone I think he's little round thing to here actually fossils crinoids I wanted to show you this don't here this is pretty typical of the names is 1804 and just says you know a couple initials there so and some type of design went up around first range for cemetery that's large you would think that they would have some no properly engraved grain it stones of some sort but I don't know if there was a religious reason for that or maybe they were just forced Church mice who knows but interesting interesting appreciate you showing me this no problem we're not gonna dig here of course all right foundations all right we'll check some foundations over here there's a deer rub right here yeah this is where yeah we kill deer would take his antlers and they rub the trees you get the velvet off all right this foundation post to the cemetery let's go look at it you don't know what this was for for sure let's see if we can figure it out all right you guys what do you think you've watched my videos any idea how first thing I notice is I don't see a chimney part they were in your honor like a home site to be to one side of the house there'd be a pile of rocks or something with a chimney was sometimes they'd have bricks mixed in not always I don't see that here although you do have an entrance going into that okay so we just walked up past that foundation and we're gonna look at what you say professional thinks this is a cistern here which could very well be I mean it certainly is built like one you think this is post-civil war era I can see it's roundish which was really typical for sister or well with that curvature like that yeah it looks like a cistern what if I can step on it always be careful when you do that oh look at these books yeah that's definitely a newer brick I think it says post-civil war which would be post 1860 which is quite likely actually it kind of brick that was fired a little bit there's got to be a house here that's the house I want to show you something interesting too uh in the on the Brooks here so this little brick here came from right there was actually already caddywhompus and have fallen off so I just picked it up but if you look here this is the mortar that holds it together okay that's why they needed lime kilns to make them more they would heat the limestone rock what you see all around here up to like 900 degrees centigrade and it would turn into line to crush the stones down and they could make mortar in other things so that's what that is that could have been made that line was probably made in that little kiln that we saw over there so I think that's pretty interesting that doesn't look at all that brick very strange it's a mystery for sure so this is another foundation just a little ways from the cistern which is actually actually right there now the thing sisters they're fed from rainwater that hits a roof and a pipe goes over to where it's built and just drops down in the cistern so their rainwater fill they didn't like carry buckets up here and fill it and just looking at this foundation you see there's a little doorway there I'm thinking this might be the remnants of a chimney pile maybe see how this is a lot of rocks right in this area you see the stone walls coming around bumps out here a little bit I could be wrong I don't see any bricks but they don't have to have bricks could have been a stone base just a stone chimney but it's this interested I would suspect if we took a shovel over here and dug around we'll probably hit Ash right here right here Paulie okay this is the bank bond that goes with this little community that's nice look at that that's the German style oh look check us out know what that is those are cactus it's hard to believe that they have cactus up here isn't it in Virginia but that's exactly what that is those are probably planted here and been growing for hundreds of years you can eat these by the way prickly pear and you can eat the can eat that but this is the inside of what would have been the bank barn again it's built in the German tradition where they have there would've been a ramp over there so they could drive into the barn with the wagons that sort of been the bottom of the barn where they kept the animals it's not huge but it's quite interesting the basis they were up seeing is you know they've got the barn couple foundations and of course the cemetery cemetery is much larger than it should be for this area or for this amount of buildings I find that curious as to why there's no really definitive chimney pile there as well this more doesn't look quite as old either let's look at this it's almost like a leader lady I would go with the sister in age I bet right here this stuff here whose repointed that's a good place to snakes yeah cuz watch out for these multiflora Rose I'll get you every time we just jumped a Cottontail is he still there it's really hard to see I'm gonna zoom in for you hold on he's right in the middle of the viewfinder he really blends in if I was a predator I'd have a hard time seeing him and that's why he's all crouched down like that he knows that we can't see him but he's gonna run because we're gonna walk over toward him you're gonna get to see the Cottontail you already there goes Peter Rabbit the [Applause] Cottontail he's pretty tame because he's pretty tame use you in the hop away tail pops off it's like a little white flag kind of like a deer and that's why they call Cottontail so we're just a little bit above where the houses and stuff that we just looked at in the content and I just want to give you an appreciation for this area this is a really cool rock that you know if I was brave I could go out and look oh wow I'll go far down that is and the waters crystal clear just stick down there that's white that's a beaver stick that's a little tree that the beaver cut down and stripped all the bark for food so we know that that's beavers in that Creek as well don't drink the water you don't wanna get Giardia beautiful it could be some caves in these rocks too we have to check out some other time but supposedly there was a mill over in this area somewhere in the other side of the creek that might be the remnants of the mill Ares has gotten washed out over the years possibly I don't know for sure that might make sense so I thought I saw a dam on the way and up there we'll look at that later maybe it's a big beautiful Creek though if you watched a lot of my videos you or some of my videos you might know that I love wild pumpkins now there's one in the woods right there I don't know if that's why I always or someone pictured or with it side of the hill but when you're walking through the woods just through the fields sometimes you'll just see pumpkins in the fall and that's where the seeds get out there somehow on the plants crew and they're just you know they're just so cool I just love them of course it's probably gonna be a jack ha later side of that what are you saying I don't think that's a wild one because we're in the woods so it would not have that much light and it wouldn't be a big hill maybe for deer but we never know wow so cool that's a simple things in life or I grew I grew up back in the old days he would happen oh they had these big municipal dumps and people were throw out their old pumpkins and stuff in the next year and a fall you could go over there and be pumpkins all over the dump they didn't cover it up every day like they do now so they're just one of those childhood things that just can't let go I don't hope I never do so we're down here looking at a spring which I'm going to show you but I want to show you another wild pumpkin but they're not wild as it turns out I bet he didn't hold his breath so this is the spring that probably serviced the little homestead in this area but not to get stuck by these milky floor rows about my jacket on but for some reason they built a stone wall here and we're trying to figure out why they would have done that row don't ah perhaps but a spring comes out in here this is probably the original catchment basin for the water right here I would guess but the water now popping out nice and clear that is I would definitely not drink water like that even though is coming out of the ground right there because that right there those are grapes by the way wall grapes and an animal is is using this areas in the tree so you catch all kinds of nasty things even though the water is popping out of the hills right next to us we walked up off the creek and we're on a big hill overlooking that site that we were just at that we had some theories about learned Check Into and a I don't know a little bit how would the detectors but I know trees very very old and it's like the only one up here you see all all the other trees are very small at one point this is all logged off and probably pasture or horses or cows but the mystery is why is there a giant oak tree there and a good-sized oak tree there that's probably 150 at least I guess hundred fifty at least one 250 could be or older who knows okay very slow growing left these trees up here for a reason and we need to find out why so we're going to detect around here just a little bit just listen for signals see if there's any iron if there's a house up here we'll definitely here some nails if we hear nothing who knows maybe this is just where they rested under the shade of the trees after they crossed the river so the big tree is over there and we're just coming down this I works on a spur right here a big hill then it drops off on both sides and we're looking for any remnants of a foundation pottery Moisture shells oyster shells will be in the leaves so that's one thing we would need to be looking for I noticed here that there's kind of a flat area now we haven't detected this yet but we'll run the machines overseas in the iron this is probably not natural I mean it's possible it is but I suspect he may have had maybe a shed here who knows it could be a house you're walking over gold coins right now but I'm not seeing any party or any type of like oyster shells or anything but we'll look at this at some point one other thing down here we want to check out real quick we're looking for just kind of like unusual dips or mounds sometimes it helps to get down a little bit low to look across the tree I'm not seeing anything here I'm looking back up where we just came from it's definitely a little flat spot there now rich says that there is a pile of rocks over here on the other side of this big tree somewhere we're gonna go look at that maybe it's a chimney pile maybe it's just a pile of raw already check out out so we've gone down off the that Ridge that we're on with a big tree going down along this little creek right here and this is the area where you said there's some rocks that didn't look natural and I kind of have to agree unfortunately all these little round things are targets that's where your son this is where he has a shooting range there's gonna be a lot of junk in there that's not a big deal all right so we're looking at these rocks you notice something the pile of rocks there and they're really although you probably have noticed it because I didn't have camera not many rocks at all at least in piles coming up coming up to the bottom so I'm looking at this pile of rocks here and I think I saw another pile up there so we're gonna walk up and look at that too hoping that's a chimney pile not a hundred percent on it we're gonna turn the machines on here in a minute walk up here first look at these other walks they're all jumbled up just to see what this is all about so how you tell you I wouldn't doubt that there'd be multiple homes yes looks interesting I don't know multiple homes on this little tiny string sees another pile of rocks here a pile there may be another pop this and this could be the remnants of a wall and not foundations but we'll find out in just a minute we're getting a dig alright we're gonna turn the machines on around a little bit I'll turn the camera back on as soon as we find something and or if we don't find anything I'll let you know and we'll go from there so we've been working our way along this little hillside where the rocks are and I've been getting a lot of those bullet signals I dug one I'm not gonna hit you more and I'm not finding too much a few iron squeaks I'll show you what I have so far this is really all about a half so far I get this round nail and that's fairly modern so I'm not gonna worry about that and of course the shotgun shell and a modern bullet that I just dropped it's just just a lot of my hands chase the other s this is just a fired modern bullet that probably hit one of these targets now rich actually has a horseshoe nail and kind of like link from a chain like a repair link that could be quite old we'll look at that a little bit later I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna grab my gear I'm kind of working my way back up the hill then back to the big tree and back to the cemetery area so this is the area right here where the rocks are how you find the horseshoe nail on the link says there's another rock pile up there you can kind of see them in the middle of the screen I'm not really getting much here how do you know what kind of on to get yours listening to I was a little bit of iron but really not much so I don't think that there's gonna be a house here that's all right there he's just there should be a lot of little pieces of iron in here but you see how this is piled out this is definitely man-made there's no doubt but I suspect this where the farmer sometime over the years start along the side of the hill and picked up the rocks and put them in a pile to get them out of the open up there I doubt this was plowed but who knows this is a horseshoe nail that's pretty cool but it doesn't tell us that there was a house here that just says some old horses are walking around these hillsides and through a shoe or at least through a nail and this I believe is a link it's a very lightweight link those two may be a chain you see how it's beveled right there it was snapped it together yeah in fact you see where it's worn on top just a little bit so that's pretty cool congratulations let's find some more stuff we has a little signal here and what we did is we scraped back the soil in case it was a shotgun shell when these fired bullets right on top and it's down a little ways so we're hopeful it could be something a little bit older he's going to dig it out you see it oh that's been in the ground for a while he's but a lot of times you can just kick him out of the LEAs and you find really fast you don't actually have to dig a hole that one we definitely had to dig though I'm going to high standard Winchester Sonny Smith Chester 200 years older than that at least where you say yep that's have been out here digging have been given some thought to that little settlement back here with the bank barn and the Foundation's in the cemetery now we know the cemetery does date back to the early 1800s that's a given but we don't know how about those foundations they don't show up on any Maps or anything and I'm kind of thinking now there's really no stuff there's no chimney piles there so I'm thinking that maybe just maybe that little settlement right there is actually much later than they think like after the Civil War I say that because when we were looking at the cemetery they said there's a buried Stonewall there that's where those flags we want them the archaeologists found out and but there's no students on the serf so those stones have been taken and moved I'm theorizing we want to figure this out here in a minute that those foundations were built with the stones that winter on that Cemetery later like late 1800s I've got the first indication that we have that there's ever anything there other the cemetery is like 1880 so that's my theory that we're not going to find anything around those foundations that's older than about eighteen seventy or eighty because they weren't there hand those are the stone from the cemetery wall you find your PIN poor not yet he lost his carat he had a tether but not tied even had a little cord on yeah see mine side you can't see it but it is so we're gonna walk up the road your way see if we can find that pin pointer and Burkle way back up to that big tree riches down there in the bottom we're working away this way and I just found this this is actually a copper strap of some sort it's not iron now get right there and sort of hit it a few little pieces of iron so we may be close to something and where I'm looking for a house or a cabin this might have been an old roadway I'm not sure look a little bit flat there some rocks here we're gonna do a little search around here a little bit anything we're gonna kind of continue along this edge that was right here for some reason I can't do a lot of video of me digging because I did not bring my smaller camera that is waterproof and dirt proof I left the truck I'm about 50 feet from where I found that piece of copper and we're still down on the bottom I've dug a horseshoe I thought it might be interesting whose partner be horseshoe wow that's kind of a strange break right there and only they break in the back into equal halves that's interesting I'm thinking this problem might not have been thrown so much has a broken on purpose or I don't know I'm not sure about that but so I found a couple round nails down in the bottom but you know less post 1880s we're not gonna mess with that and I'm working my way back up the hill towards that big tree and you see all these big you know it's really rocky in here this isn't gonna be a likely spot for much of anything at least didn't we have a house or not there's probably a woodlot back in the day because of course they you know needed a lot of trees so they would have areas that were specifically set aside for firewood wood for the kiln things like that so we want to zip up to the top real quick once I catch pepper so we're back up to the big tree rich is working his way up the road because he dropped his pin pointer I just kind of scoot it around but check out what I just found he's gonna freak lookie here I just dug it up out of that hole right there it's a civil or bullet Wow a gardener - that's a Confederate rebel Civil War bullet I thought it might be drop that could be a little bit of rifling cut in right there oh that's nice yeah that's fired you can see right here that's where the rifling is cut into the lead just a little bit so it's definitely been fired but still a really sweet Civil War bullet that I'm going to give to rich and I'm sure he'll be really happy with that there may be more smaller than this area so we're gonna look around me I can hear he's common so he's gonna he's gonna be happy with this one I'm sure he's a hope he is I would we're still on this part right so he's gonna he's gonna like this he found it I put it on a swing check it out [Applause] do we know if it's north or south by how many rings well we do know but not by the number of rings okay do you guys know I don't know we got the chick here okay so what this is and I've already explained it to the viewers oh you did that's a Confederate gardener oh that's Confederate bullet not because it has two rings but because of the way it's made okay he's made a certain way we're back had to change out the battery but yeah so this is a Confederate gardener and the way we can tell one is the two rings is a clue now some Yankee bullets had two rings but if you look at the base you can see there's like a little ring goes around it that's actually a little LED insert that's inside of there there's actually two pieces and that's a particular style called a gardener named after that guy that invented it gardener they're made in Richmond Richmond Virginia so yeah can your wine are better would this piece fired and you see the rifling marks on it barely now we're near a battlefield I'm not gonna tell you where you gotta keep this area secret but yeah but from the battle so that's pretty cool yeah those were only used for a couple years and only during the Civil War okay you know what I mean yeah so that's pretty cool very good that's yours by the way right all right awesome I'm gonna grab my stuff more vendors walk over to where I fall in that bullet and hopefully rich will dig his first bullet in the same area talking about the depth indicators on the machine by the way that's right there's where I found the bullet so I'm gonna look around this area see if there's any more I like talk to you are you talking about the depth indicator on metal attackers in generally speaking for me anyway they don't it doesn't do a lot because it depends on the sides of the object that's the how it's gonna react so it can say it's eight inches three inches or whatever but if it's a big target is gonna fool it if there's a small target it's going to pull it it might be somewhat accurate but I pay no attention at all to the death you just go by the sound you can tell by the intensity of the sound of the signal generally speaking how big it is and how deep it is saves you a lot of time to this who cares how deep it is just dig it got a signal [Music] we gonna dig it you left a shovel behind was it read now keep it moving 167 yep shotgun show which might be loud like that would probably read in the 50s low 60s maybe 67 getting up in that bullet rain hoping that you find a civil war bullet yet might be his first Civil War bullet but for want of a shovels you'll never know I hope that's a bullet I think it probably it sounds big you're a bigot sound that's why you don't need the depth meter I know that's close to the surface I suspect he could reach down with a finger and grab it and we'll try that for us I get the pinpointer on it I'll show you how to pinpoint closely again and that way you won't were in any danger of actually hitting it with a shovel like I did mine but we'll show you how to do that here in a minute okay so what we're gonna do is I'm gonna get the pinpointer on try to get it really pinpointed so he doesn't accidentally hit it with a shovel like I did mine so I'm gonna show you how to do that in partner boy and show me about where you think it is sounds good alright let's look what we'll do like I said is uh maybe just pick it up it's not that's not it okay the pinpointer so we'll listen and it's back here alright yeah I'm gonna show you something okay so we know what's in this general area okay so we're gonna do the we're gonna like super focus to pinpoint and turn it off we're close to the center of the signal turn it on so we know exactly it's right there without excess now what we're just gonna do is take his finger dams gonna go in there go people know what's gonna pop up just be careful it's not class all right okay I don't see it alright you want to use a shovel yeah might be a little bit deep but just be careful it's not a piece of glass with a yes right let's try that yeah pinpoint again put it very close to it [Applause] that's right and we said our buddies at Winchester hopefully will be a real one that's just never know it could have been a gold coin who knows you know so alright Oh keep digging so we have another signal which is reading the 50s [Music] 50s is probably a shotgun shell but you definitely need to dig it because you never know could be a big osseous button but numbers you get back and forth 58 60 okay I'm going to predict this like a shotgun shows pretty shallow I think it was a bullet would be a lot better sounding like high 60s maybe 70 or low 70s like the other one red hope reach out again I'll tell you what let me hit it with a pin pointer since you don't have yours that way you can narrow it down a little bit dropping shell right there okay what I'm gonna do you're on my machine work my way over there so if I find that pin pointer real quick and hopefully you'll find that pile of bullets before I get back all right so rich is up there digging still where I found that bullet and I want to just pop down here real quick and see if I can find his pin pointer which this is the last place we saw it kind of dangling from his belt I said it better secure that and he did and naturally it's exactly where he secured it right left over that's exactly what would be - I don't think he believed me but I've been to this before all right let's go back up in the woods - looking fine which has a nice boots fresh has a good signal over here said it's popping up in the mid 70s so that could be a bowl that I hope not just a shotgun shell keep in motion slow just slows nice easy sweeps to get your number okay 65 and 72 there that's kind of sharpen Shelley maybe and very rocky it's not gonna be deep thought there it is it's a shotgun shell no the bullets are definitely they're gonna read higher then there was a party looking in the 70s all the time nice consistent in the 70 signal all the time so alright for again your iron you got another another signal there too but this iron probably could be fence wire could be anything he means to the Ravens up here and both the Raven so I'm kind of working my way down the hill maybe 75 yards from where we found that bullet and down and near that flat area from earlier in the video you see right there had not been over there yet but I'm starting to pick up more iron and I just dug half of a horseshoe and it's a very wide horseshoe generally speaking the wider they are this way the older they are I mean I thought a hundred percent but generally speaking that's true oh that's half a shoe well let's just walk over there to that flat spot I just walk away with you right now want to turn the camera off I'm gonna leave my shovel there and we'll come back yeah this is waffle and listen too much iron er I mean this is a wonderful area that looked like it might be something this is so flat compared to the rest of the areas around here but you know much how much iron well this entire there here what we'll do is we're gonna go ahead and dig something it up and see what it is if it's square nails pull your Spence water and something good I'll let you know we'll turn the camera back on over to here I've got another half hour horseshoe not much else rich says he has a decent signal here so let's check it out the big trees right behind me big oak tree what it is is you know with jumpy because it's very shallow so loop is like rubbing across the top of it almost and by lifting it up it's clearing this signal up for you my whole shoe to me scrape silent course you scrape there is a horseshoe I know my scrapes man half of a horseshoe yeah pretty cool I think the reason we're finding so many broken ones because a rocky up here in the breaking them on these rocks so I have a quite a few more Bank it's pretty bad were you here yeah that's great yeah that's a horseshoe so worked myself down the hill down to the driveway again and heading out toward the cemeteries not too far from here I don't hear rich anywhere I've gone back and forth a couple of times I don't hear the machine of Hollett form but not to that anyway I got a signal right here that looks to me like a coin right there what do you think I think it's silver and not looked at it yet might be dime it's been up in that is that's probably you know what that's a real that's a Spanish coin I see their Spanish coin or a piece of aluminum that is a Spanish coin dated 1770 I think for that's a good colonial coin colonial era coin there you know I can't actually read that very well yeah he's got me freaking out again I started hitting some iron let me clean this up a little bit now get ready back with you so I got to cleaned up a little bit you know unfortunate my eyes are going so I can't really read the date on that maybe seventeen out of order 1781 maybe no but anyway that's a Spanish coin that would have been from our colonial era before we had coinage here in America that's what they were using not too bad a shape so I'm not too far from the Foundation's the furnace is right over there so I could be related to it I don't know a little bit iron in here so we're gonna slow down and look closer rich should be in this area somewhere we're supposed to meet down here on the road he's not here yet so he's probably still up in the bushes that's a beauty right there so I slowly worked my way down that Ridge and I was waiting for Rich to catch up to me but I never haven't seen no I haven't seen it for like an hour we're only a couple hundred yards from the big tree so I'm not sure where he went I've been listening for the Machine because they're both hunting without headphones such as deer season that way people can hear us I've not heard him or seen him since I don't face the GUP by me he went back to his house or what but we're down here back I'm back down yeah I just heard him he just across the road was his was a whippoorwill mine was a monstrosity or call oh yeah I hear him now Safari heard me talking it's getting late in the day I really wanted to hunt these foundations just a little bit but the small one behind me because I want to see I have a theory that these aren't as old as they think they are that they're actually probably post-civil war and that they use the stones from that cemetery for the foundations that's why the walls gone archeologist says there's a wall underground corner all the way around it but the stones are gone above-ground so I'm thinking that's what these are so we're going to dig around here a little bit see what kind of nails we find what kind of age we have we know that sister's not that old so maybe the whole place is not that old except for the cemetery that's definitely dated early so okay Oh August we'll just get to digging he's still up on the hill coming down so he knows we're at I just got here I haven't even turn the machine on you I thought you got by me you maybe ended up that the house drinking coffee or something I'm just freaking out a little bit more junk junk see the good stuff alright so I don't know what I did that's the one you found you were right here I don't know what that is that's interesting that's um that's melted lead melted leg Oh Lord you find that up in the woods that's a chunk of melted lead and that's normally looks almost like a spoon that's flattened out doesn't it see so the handle wind or something I don't know almost looks like a spoon but I think it's just melted lead me no but that's that's a good sign I definitely look around that area a little bit more and then junk but it was a weird signal yeah that's that's a case that's the jacket off of a copper jacketed bullet a licen fired how it's inside probably yeah laughing so like something you might be interested in all right ah [Applause] what is this don't tell him not a Mercury dime no but it does 1784 on it that's pretty cool that's an old one yeah say yes Spanish rial na yes where'd you find this one Brighton well right down there I'm sure you okay alright now that's pretty cool nice Congrats jig Ronnie man that's my first target right there no I'm just on video and I dug this and I think this is a Spencer carbine cartridge I'm not a hundred percent on it but let's take a closer look Spencer carbine may be and if so that's definitely Civil War era it's the first target huge amount of iron in here though oh listen to it actually had the discrimination cranked up all the way there's just so much iron and I'm just cherry picking the top right now so let's listen to the iron just listening for squeaks in there we're gonna do is cherry picking because I don't think this place has been dug or at least not much so we're going to bump that all the way up we're going to get rid of all those most of those pieces of iron and we're just gonna listen for the good signals little crackly things that's just iron we're not gonna worry about those at all well it's a nice good signal big old coins and belt buckles and it's probably something small right there go ahead and scuff it and get the show yeah let's get the show let's go ahead and dig that together these shovels right here I won't fill that hole in that's a big foundation will fill a hole in just a minute but I just saw something did you see it that's another one look yeah that's exactly what that is that is a rifle casing or a Spencer carbine or Spencer rifle Civil War era now this could have been shot you know they could have done this this could be post-war but that's a cartridge from that era that's cool hey rich rich I'll dug a couple Spencer carbine cartridges it could be some relics in here well alysom Spencer carbine cartridges this is the second one of Doug's two signals burn away well I believe that is a Spencer carbine cartridge Civil War era repeating rifle so that's a good sign cool so I mean it could have been lost after the war crisis I mean I just dug two of them like within just a couple feet of each other so yeah how come you know here with me I'm gonna come over come on over man I think it's gonna be some stuff here so we came just below the house to dig we dug a little test bit just to see what might be here and it's just loaded with broken glass broken bottles and some pottery and stuff so everything looks to me like turn of the century 1900 or so you know not as old as I would hope but let's take a look at it that's the foundation right there and they were just still in the trash over the side and here we are look at that lots are broken crocks little medicine bottles but that's you know it's turn-of-the-century I guess maybe a little earlier not much plate buckles these are mason jar lids and dug a few of those let's see these parts of you know pots our stoves I guess I think that's part of a store right there which brings me to reason I don't think we're seeing chimney piles this may be because this is not as earlier a home as we thought it was and they just had stoves because you know turn-of-the-century homes often didn't have chimneys they just had a big pot-bellied stove for heat we're gonna get back at it for a few more minutes we don't have much more time though do we it's gonna be dark before all right so drop down the hill about five or six feet from where I dug that first pit just to dig another one to see what was here find a few things I've got a little bottle a whole one a small one so let me show you what we're doing here a Cormack bottle a little medicine bottle a lot of these tops in here too I don't think they're too old you know what that is that's a keyhole to a lock of some sort and they get tagged it's like a baggage tag or a tool tag or something l52 lots of broken bottles and pottery you know the whole bottles are going to be few and far between because of all these rocks but I wouldn't mind getting back in here and digging around some more I think I'm going to just be done here for now so that's a round nil right there and finding some square nails and probably four nails because a that's pretty much what they used on the floors Cornell's so all right let's get back at or almost out of time and we dark soon I wish we had more time to dig I hope you enjoyed that little video unfortunately I didn't get to shoot a wrap-up because I'm running a little bit late we're like talking a lot with you and but I gave him everything I found so I had a great time you know it's fun to explore I'm definitely gonna come back there's some other areas on his property we didn't get the hit and we didn't get to go back to the lion killing I really wanted to do that and we'll look for that colonial-era house site that thinks close to where we found that coin know if there's anyone else out there that wants to do this kind of thing would be and you have some area that sort of explore and invite me over I'll come over we'll do a little video we'll do some exploration and have some fun I've got a couple people down and the Carolinas and Georgia they have invited me in the past and hope they go down there soon and maybe video - so shoot me an email awkward sugar at gmail.com and maybe we'll get together sometime we'll see you on the next video there's no telling where hopefully not down there later [Music]
