around me my no this thing's hiding behind the flowers dude if you're new to the VR space or looking to upgrade your headset then you're in luck The Meta Quest 3 has finally been released and we're about to show you what all the hype is about just a quick disclaimer as much as you may feel encouraged to buy these products but we make these videos simply to give you more information to help you make a better decision before making a purchase that being said you can order the meta Quest 3 by visiting our website at www.8 by 2.co Za or just click the link in the description cool let's check out the quest 3 first thing we see when we open up the box is the quest 3 headset this comes with cameras for tracking and pass through it also has a depth sensor here in the middle the quest 3 has a more Sleek design than the Quest 2 and concerning the inputs and outputs USBC port on the left and audio jack on the right once we've got the the headset out the way we get two controllers here you then get a box with the USBC to USBC cable to charge and connect the headset and the controllers you get these little booklets with user information and of course a power plug I would love to cover the differences between the quest 3 and the previous Quest 2 but we'll dive deeper into that on another video for now I can tell you some of the small points would be that the quest 3 is approximately 40% Slimmer but somehow manages to be slightly heavier than the Quest 2 however it does have a better weight distribution meaning there isn't as much forward weight which will put less strain on your neck and shoulders over a longer play periods then there's the pancake lenses since pancake lenses are thinner and flatter these are an improvement from the Fel lenses we got on the quest Pro allowing for a wider field of view better lighting against glare and puts less strain on your eyes performance is where we see some incredible upgrades on the quest 3 the addition of a new Snapdragon xr2 Gen 2 chip means that you'll get a faster and smoother experience for augmented and virtual reality it gives us a combination of higher resolution with better graphics and faster frame rates with less latency all things considered the quest 3 is 50% more powerful than the Quest 2 overall pass through is now in full color as you might have seen previously on the quest Pro but the quality is said to be the best that we've seen so far the image does warp a bit when I wave my hand in front of my face but the focal spe spot is larger and I was able to read some text off my phone sharing additional data about how you use the medquest app helps so you can read so the pass through includes features such as spatial mapping and the ability to recognize objects and hand gestures this pretty much changes the game as it gives you a whole lot more control when setting up boundaries or play areas and it's very straightforward just look around you and the headsets will scan your surroundings as cool as all of this may seem to be honest what you're seeing here is the recording of the cameras and not a true representation of what it looks like in pass through in fact the pass through looks kind of low raise blurry and fuzzy immersive VR apps and everything added in AR looks awesome but everything around it in pass through can be a bit trippy in practice though the pass through does help you to stay grounded to your actual surroundings so you don't bump into or punch anything it is usable and practical in many ways but I'll say it doesn't live up to the hype of what we see through screen recordings now for the controllers each of these are powered with a able a battery and the design is more related to the quest Pro hence we don't get the ring around them this provides a smoother and more ergonomic design and the haptic feedback also is a bit of an improvement as well to give you a more realistic and immersive experience however in my opinion these are a bit of a step back from the self-tracking controllers that we got on the quest Pro which had three lenses and an onboard chipset which gave better accuracy when tracking now let's talk about the experience of the headset after actually putting it on first thing to note is that all the apps and games from The Quest 2 are backwards compatible and available on the quest 3 that doesn't automatically mean that apps will suddenly look better since they will also need to be updated from the developer side to match the capabilities of the new headset but the improved pass through means the AR apps are much better from the get-go the hand tracking feature is really good but there are some blind spots where your hand tracking and the controllers May glitch until they come back into view of the headset battery life is okay we timed it at about 2 hours which obviously will depend on the apps that you use so mix reality and augmented reality apps will generally Chow a bit more battery because of the pass through also I may be a bit lucky because I have dreads but apparently the headset isn't really that comfortable out the box so you might want to consider upgrading to the elite strap not just for the comfort but also because that will extend your battery life as well with all that being said the quest 3 is an amazing headset for both firsttime users and those looking to upgrade and the experience will only get better as we can look forward to Future app and firmware updates since it is still quite a new product let us know what you think of the Met 3 and if you'd like to order the quest three
