MASSIVE Playoff Seeding on the Line: 49ers vs. Seahawks Week 17, 2019 FULL GAME

so here we are the end of another great decade of football and a hundred seasons of the NFL and all who better than these two arch rivals of the West to close that it feels like every time they play it matters one-size heroes are the others buildings and even when they switch it on you the fireworks is keep on coming so now here comes another huge matchup for these two teams with the NFC West Division title on I couldn't think of a more perfect weight for the Niners and the Seahawks to put a final mark on another great decade of NFL football beef cattle wrapping up his 10th season as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks there is among some old buddies and for more on that here's Michelle Wow last week against Arizona the Seahawks lost their thousand yard rusher Chris Carson and his backup CJ Prosise this after losing four shot penny in week 14 all three backs suffered season-ending injuries so Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider went back to the future and re-signed the legendary Marshawn Lynch and his former running mate Robert urban both had been out of football since October 2018 Carroll told us Lynch looks like he never left and he'll primarily handle first and second down turban will be the third down back and the rookie Travis Homer who's been with the team since training camp well I asked for mercy hawk and Curt 49er Richard Sherman about Lynch's return and he said it didn't move the meter he's been on the couch in your nap he hasn't played it down in their scheme you might excite their fans but it doesn't change anything we do the show that is the Richard by Michael Kendricks so Jimmy Garoppolo you go back to that week ten game when they were defeated in overtime at a rough go of at 24 of 46 a rating of only 66 - and he got sacked as Wilson did that night on the other side five times and that's the question can he hold up under the pressure of this crowd and under the pressure of the pass rush when the Seattle Seahawks because of the crowd second snap count out here heck you can tell by the way they're huddling up they can't hear the plays and the huddle so the advantage goes to the pass rushers in this one they rehearsed for this in the game at New Orleans which was crazy loud as they told us always is down there to play clock is at one and whistle before the snap because the Debian clowny was coming across the line so they stopped the play they're in a free run at Garoppolo and he's correct 37 New Orleans at least Christians we take a look at this again he had all that crowd noise they still won the game and they scored 48 points no question watch the signals back and forth on that offensive line they know they're not going to be able to hear so once those signals are given they're just relayed down the line to the other guys third and seven Garofalo under pressure and that is a fabulous pact by George piddle and what else is new he's been doing this all season long picked them in the fifth round three years ago and this guy's had a phenomenal year after a phenomenal year in 2018 yeah and he's working against one of the bests and Bobby Wagner inside and Jimmy Garoppolo said this is the guy that we have to beat he's the one that we have to study the throws have to be perfect those two linebackers going to be sitting in the middle of field just staring at me and Kittel off to a good start if there was a signature play - this whole season that was Kidal on fourth down in New Orleans at the end of the game to set him up for the winning field goal fires and that will be fought on the outside for a gain of eight by Emmanuel Sanders who came over in a midseason trade with Denver Brad McDougald knocks him down there it'll be second down at two there's no question that the 49ers receivers were struggling before Emmanuel Sanders got there somehow his ability to catch the ball seemed to add a contagious confidence to the entire receiving corps and we've seen all of them play much better the one guy in particular I think is Devo Samuel they're looking he is a tough tough guy catching the ball Raheem moster is the running back he's evolved was the number one running back of late fake to him into traffic and caught by Sanders to the 45 so Sanders started with Denver comes over to San Francisco didn't get a bye week he's playing in his 17th game so if the league wants to go to a 17 game season they should check with him watch the linebacker here turn his back and basically watch Sanders coming from the right side over he's got his back hello takes advantage of it and Sanders very coolly did not tip it off that the ball was on its way from the 45 and tossed a monster the each track star of years in the past picks up 17 and it's Kylie's check the full-back gets out in front they love using you second he's at a great years going to the Pro Bowl yeah the one thing you have to stop with the 49ers or went these plays on the edges every one of their running backs runs for four or better most it was a sprint champion in college so if you're gonna allow him to get on the edge behind blocks by George Kittel who is missing in that last game probably the premier blocker at the tight end how excited he is he's got in there and sort of jumped into the hole and then just put his head down and kept plowing forward but the energy that he is created in the building this week the energy he is creating now in that huddle you just wonder if he can't lift them a little higher certainly did this week what a difference it made with the mood around the Seahawks after that Arizona loss last guy that they really do believe can be a star in this league he has not played that well since coming back from a foot injury but we think he has an all-pro potential so they're gonna hang with him Cantrell hours and Congress Jesse that's a defense 21st in points allowed 26 in yards second and ten here on the ground again and some space now this Coleman gets out to the 12 we're stacking by Bobby Wagner who leads the league in tackles at least coming into the weekend the Jews the one that's figure out did you stick how use check the pull back on that one and the huddle he is the one squatting down in the middle of the huddle now it's Kittel and they're they're trying to just eliminate one body from consideration to make that huddle a little tighter so they can hear as close-knit as they and he wants the chain gang to come in now when you have an Emmanuel Sanders you know you can play and beat me in coverage the matter when that knee went down on the ground for Kyle Shanahan moving came over and I understand that Garoppolo was coming back from a knee injury and all that it's like somebody's down on the field here and that is Trey flowers who was involved in the last tackle so he's the one who needs some attention plus a season of giving and these guys are going to give up their bodies here for a little bit more space in the huddle Samuel Kittel and use check one arm is going to take a knee - let them get more tightly knit because of the noise meanwhile flowers was able to walk off the field when his own power Akim king's spells and at least for the moment and you didn't toss here in a two yard game - Tevin Coleman and now those three guys you just showed are really the key to this offense in so many different ways Kyle Hughes check is the full-back but he also splits out as the number one wide receiver talked about George Kittel his ability to catch and run and make incredible plays but his abilities as a blocker maybe even better than that and then the young rookie Devo Samuel you'll see him lined up at running back sometimes so you can't tell based on the personnel on the field what it is the 49ers are going to try on offense here you've got the full back use check in the slide second down and seven off Corey action they came the catches Samuel to midfield and stopped at the 49 yard line by Bobby Wagner good-looking rookie picked him in the second round on a South Carolina mix-up 29-year yeah I think they're just going to read the middle linebacker Wagner right here and as he drifts to the right drop blows gonna pull it out on the RPO and throw it in there today the Boyd was there and he took advantage of it so with the way that these linebackers can pursue if you can get him running you can come back side make some plays moster at the running back play-action again dropping we'll check it down and it's Catalan food places way for extra yardage the king of yackin yards after the catch is the truth it is just interesting that Jorge Kindle has gotten to the point where he really does not believe the knee can be tackled this tight end coach yells at him anytime he goes out of bounds or gets tackled and shanty was saying he goes I think he's starting to believe that he can't get down I think the Saints believe it after that effort then there's first down and off here moister around the corner he goes before he is out of receivers you've got pull backs planned wide receiver it is a very dynamic offense that is so hard did he go now Noah is a scoring play so the way it was ruled they are checking it then it looked like passes in the battle for the NFC West title with 24 ticks remaining in the first quarter San Francisco leads 10 to nothing take a look first here is the whether or not he stepped out of bounds it just was not conclusive one way or another you could argue where there's a little strip of green you could argue is on the white but not conclusive at all on that one so they let it stand but it really is fun to watch Shanahan's offense move because they're gonna make everything look like another play this is sort of their counter pulley sort of action and then here comes the reverse off of it so as a defense you think you see what you practice all week long and then there's some little twist to it and that little twist ended up in the end zone that time look how Shanahan of course his pedigree his this 49ers team we think of Bill Walsh and all the great passing teams and all this is a physical pound you football team both sides of the ball three good running backs and that San Francisco stable gaining a couple here will be second down late but I will say this as well is that the 49ers on offense are a catch and run team and Pete Carroll knows that very well he knows that tackling is going to be key to this game but sort of like Bill Walsh they throw it short and then they have some monsters running with the ball afterwards Deebo samuel is really sort of george Kittel light average that to throw is the lowest in the league yards after the catch highest in the league Garoppolo fires on the ground and making the grab is George piddled at the 46 yard line what a great route watch at the top of this round kettle with a little wiggle and he's going against Shaquille Griffin watch this little wiggle right there and gets him completely wrong put it for an easy completion for your quarterbacks of dad and go out there and see somebody that wide open Garoppolo is nine for nine 422 yards we think surveys rose and that's juggled an incomplete at the 30-yard line Sanders could not the run game and in the passing game and so he creates opportunities for other guys as well you don't see many slip through the fingers of Emmanuel nine and a half until halftime San Francisco trying to get that number one seed in the NFC and they hand them all off the mat Rita one of those three backs we talked about you seem comon comon we've seen most ER and now Brito who started the season as the storeroom and he's a yard shy the first will be third down and one yeah when do you watch this 49ers offensive line they come off with authority even the outside zone run plays we're typically offensive linemen just sort of moved horizontally down the field these guys don't mouth Shanahan believes in taking that 45-degree angle through the guy up the field and let our guys try and work it to the edge third and one and Garoppolo takes it himself but so much for the crowd noise impeding the 49ers theater a 94 yard drive they have out gained them by a 6 to 1 ratio at this point in the go just get behind that big offensive line you go Tom would be proud so Garoppolo trying to get a week off next week and Tom's going to play because New England has to go to a wild card game by our his playing career and now the defensive coordinator of the Seahawks trying to try to find the the magic key to stopping the San Francisco juggernaut tonight well if he finds it he needs to pass it around because nobody else has either this was a great defensive struggle when they played the first time so many seven takeaways in the versus 15 with protection fire for in a minute to the 15-yard line he goes for a first down was seven and a half to go in the HAMP it's a gain of 26 the thing you have to be able to attack against the Seahawks is these two linebackers playing these zones so these crossing routes there's a little tiny hole in there right behind it you saw Sanders split through there first to clear it out for Kidal and then there was just enough gap to throw that one in there they are playing masterfully so far against Seattle's defense they should know it they run it themselves already 74 receiving yards for him bacon in the pass is high and off the hands of most incompleted be second down in ten well Jimmy Garoppolo clearly the biggest game of his career this one of course backed up Tom Brady the three and a half years gets traded over to the 49ers plays great down the stretch in 17 it's a huge contract at one point he was the highest-paid quarterback in the league now he's about number nine then last year tears tears his ACL in Kansas City week three Francisco's favor it's third down on 11 and now there's a puddle San Francisco may be talking about declining the the penalty here right they're gonna want the time on the clock after the ball was put in play timeout San Francisco so they take a timeout all right I mean one of the comparison tonight of the two quarterbacks very one-sided at the moment good Hanford Garoppolo 11 of 14 156 6 of 11 only 45 yards for Wilson so that's 4 yards per pass attempt and again in terms of the total yardage it's a better than a 3 to 1 ratio 220 yards for San Fran and 69 for the Hawks you know it's really hard to completely understand what's going on with this football team I mean Tyler lock it over a thousand yards receive and we talked about deem it DK Metcalf is a good player on the outside we've seen David Moore make some plays but this is a team that has always been able to establish a ground game and it's almost late they don't know how to sequence when it doesn't happen for 30 40 yards Wilson stepping up and to catch his may by locking very close to a first down lead at 11 they line it up with the chains and now Seattle's gonna take a timeout they have to get to the 30 in they're a little short so it's gonna be fourth down well anytime you get Russell Wilson on the move and then late he's gonna see the spy Fred Warner right in his face and he still was able to find that throw and get it out sort of an odd angle but this is what they have to have I mean gotta remember Tyler Lockett it's one of the great kick returners around we've got to find a way to just get the ball to him in space and take off and run Metcalfe is a good catch and run guy they need some explosiveness back in this offense but it is really hard to do against either one of these defenses both of these defenses are built to not give up big play so forth in inches you got Marshawn Lynch in the game was not that this brings back memories with the one-yard line but it's worth an inches do you give it read-option they're starting to use everything just leave unblocked Armstead on the outside and when he stays out there handed off there's nobody that the rest of the line comes blocking down so now the defense doesn't know is it going to be runner pass and it's playing effectively here Russia is decorated five yards for toe whose Lynch again and he gets bottled up at the line of scrimmage [Applause] you can tell they're really worried about Russell Wilson and his ability to run the football they have been hanging back on those bootleg plays they've had a spy much of the time to keep him in the pocket and not allow him to get go so much of the focus in the second half I think now will be all about Russell Wilson and what is he capable of lifting this pants with the passing game really fun to watch these two quarterbacks because basically they're playing against themselves it's the same defense really on both sides of the ball Robert Solow was here in Seattle and he incorporating it when other places Jacksonville where they did the same thing and so it's the same thing the opportunities should be there in the middle of the field against San Francisco's defense in the same way they've been there against Seattle's defense big third and nine is already down to three Palmer's still getting set to snap up on time we'll send fires for the touchdown listen so adept at moving forward throwing on the run gets it in there for the score he gets to handle right back in it wasn't a legal pass was he across the line there is the line and he has one foot behind that line which makes that a legal pass very close but Wilson worked the entirety of the space he had available your entire body has to be across the line for it to be illegal enough was back just barely for the score you know let's give credit first of all to the defense we're coming out making the quick stop and now the offense with a little pop I think Pete Carroll probably had a few choice words so you know through the years it's been such a hard place for teams to win from 2012 through the middle of the 17th season there were 37 6 and the best defense in the league in points allowed but she said crazily enough 11 and 9 2015 11 points allowed vspeed Carroll about the other days I have no idea and then he said let me drill down deep and he said we haven't had the pass rush we had in the past and that really gets the crowd into it well and the advantage this crowd gives the pass rush Garofalo will throw and is use check and the 49ers are back in business as they send a full background it's free down the right sideline this is exactly what we're talking about there's Kendricks Adan to play but who in their right mind runs these kind of routes with a fullback and that is what they're able to do inside this offense not just with Kittel but with other guys cow use check as a receiver is a guy you just cannot go to sleep on so they work on Kendricks who's hurt on the play injury wide open in the flat and so everything slides that way and then you've got use check in there to slam out the linebacker and there's nobody there everything looks the same in this offense everything they do their pass plays come off the run plays and here we go looks like they're going for two they are trying to make a 21-7 instead of 22 7 line up for two that Sanders wide to the left put him in Greenlaw is not the feature attraction at linebacker Fred Warner is but some of his speed has flashed out here tonight too [Applause] I'm talking about the last time we had these guys San Francisco that is against Green Bay so when John Lynch comes in with Kyle Shanahan and they take over GM and coach they said the first thing our number one priority building the Super Bowl defensive line and that defensive line is going to get better come playoff time I think D Ford is going to come back and play that hamstring injury so you add the speed of D for that his six and a half sacks already this season to this group that's out there they popped what D for went out that's when the sacks started going down long said leads and sexy is ten mission third and seventh rows plot and that should be enough for a first down Hollister able to angle his way along the sidelines Carol coming in there to help the officials spot the ball that was Nick Bosa who had to be in coverage on now and so they
