our sore can move and Murr millio with mario and luigi superstar saga all bosses co-op but uh hello everybody I'm Emilio I'm sore I'm ghost como I'm bark yeah so we're doing superstar saga the category we're doing is all bosses so we're gonna be doing a little co-op thing going on so I'm gonna be taking around like the first third sort we'll be doing the second third and then the final area will be mixing it up a little so if everyone's ready let's do it start in three two one go good luck thank you so the first thing that you'll notice about their run right now is the text is in Japanese if you've seen any Mario Luigi superstar saga runs particularly of any percent for glitchless in the past those have been done in English and we're gonna get into the key reasons why but to summarize there's a few items that are different in this version and a few glitches that are different in this version that ultimately lead to all Boston's specifically being fastest on Japanese yeah there's three major categories for this game 80% al vos is glitchless this is the only one that uses Japanese yeah which list is sort of the one that plays the game in full anypercent sequence breaks about 60% of the game all boss is a sort of the hybrid category in between the two that allows for a lot more of the neat little smaller to mid-size glitches that allow us to still relatively play the whole game while still getting to show off many of those different pitches yeah this is a pretty crazy wrong you can see a lot of cool stuff [Music] and so the first thing we're doing a the intro before we get into the most of the gameplay I'm spying on Mario on the shower in the hint yeah we have to unlock Mario and Luigi hidden characters [Music] so the premise behind this game as most Mario games tend to be something bad happens to the princess in this game however the story is a little bit different the neighboring kingdom of the bean bean Kingdom sent an ambassador as kind of a show of goodwill it's a peace offering but it turns out the ambassador and the and their support were both both evil it is all a plot to steal the princess's voice which is why she's crying excessively back there so this is an RPG it's not immediately apparent the way this game works is you have two characters Mario and Luigi Mario was always gonna be controlled by the a button and Luigi is always going to be controlled by the P but now similar to most other Mario RPGs there's going to be time to button presses and various little mini games with each attack that vary in complexity as the game goes on so this is just a little tutorial to show that you can dodge attacks which you can dodge every single attack in this game and later on you'll be able to unlock the ability to even counter-attack but this is important because it'll let means that we can really beat this game at as low of a level as possible because you just need to dodge every attack so the beat so peaches voice was replaced with explosive text here which those are immediately realized this is a very bad idea to try and kidnap her because that would mean that his castle would blow up so he decides that he's going to unless our helper grudgingly to head over to the neighboring bean bean Kingdom to get it back tire game is going to take place in the bean bean kingdom except for this part as some of the text of this game unlike some other our RPGs only the a button actually advances stick [Music] they're making couple detours right here to pick up a couple of mushrooms all the way mushrooms work in this game they're a fairly standard item but they happen to be integral to the run because the count of mushrooms that you have affects the amount of damage outfit that they're going to have later on so they have it ratted out that they pick up as many mushrooms as they can along the way to minimize the amount of shopping that they have to do to buy them later yeah I'll go out of my way a little bit to pick up any coins mushrooms and other items for selling by the way if you hear a lot of tapping coming through on the microphone that is just how fast their fingers work when it comes to mashing in this game it's gonna be pretty important for all the noobs yeah one of the brooms attacks this game is notorious as a 12-hour challenge killer so 12-hour challenge being a challenge to learn a Speed game in under 12 hours I want to say at least half a dozen people have signed up for this game and zero have been able to actually complete a run for any person and there's a lot of different reasons for it one of them is you actually have to be really good at mashing any percents a pretty difficult category for people to learn yeah all bosses is not as dangerous when it comes to the fight partly because they're gonna actually be beating the game at a higher level than they would in any percent however just like every other category in this game it is not free especially when we get to the final boss which thank you all so much for donating to get the co-op incentive met as Sorek taking is taking his head over there yeah you'd think with two people at one time it might be a little bit easier to focus but we did have a little bit of trouble earlier so that should be pretty fun - any more than 12 hours one of the neat little thing you'll see about this game is it actually has a lot of comic relief lead developer and producer for this game as well as a few other members of staff or alpha dream of rest and peace they were part of the team that made Super Mario RPG so this was sort of meant to be like the true spiritual successor to mario RPG other than like you know Paper Mario which was the weekly different theme so right now what they're doing in the story is they need to get to the bean bean Kingdom and they're on the Bowser's airship unfortunately they need to take a picture to actually validate their passport so we're gonna take a picture here and they're just gonna stand perfectly still and just do nothing and have a very normal looking passport photo because it you know you're supposed to stand there and just you know normal right on they see right here you can actually press the start to switch the order of the boroughs this is unique to Mario Luigi superstar saw all later games kind of fix Mario and Luigi - Mario being in the front Luigi always being in the back and this is actually going to be really useful for one Japanese specific glitch they're going to do later but it also leads to a lot of variety in the different overworld and later yeah the first third portion of the game which is most of my segments will be trying to get to all the glitches as fast as possible so we can start sequence breaking a lot of little elements that you'll see visual aids actually that the Japanese version actually has like one thing that you might notice if you played the North American version when you level up it doesn't actually give you an indicator that you can choose which stat that you level up this version actually fixed that fixed that as well as a bunch of other things there's a ton of like little balance hatch kind of stuff that this in Japanese because unlike most games that come from Japan we actually got the North America first and the North American release was a little bit buggy a little bit less balanced yeah a lot of those fixes they implemented between the versions ended up breaking the game a lot more and making this run possible here's the first level up for the run levelling up in this game you get extra by this little bonus wheel come on free okay two's good yeah that that level up is a guaranteed to although Sark might disagree with that but for this for this route I want to see I think I have four power-ups or four levels where I would level up power I just need to you to use in order to have close to optimal flights tonight might notice with this games absolutely banging battle tea and then this game soundtrack is actually really dope and the soundtrack for this game was composed by Yoko Shimomura who is mostly unknown for her kingdom hearts down tracks as well as Super Mario RPG age though you enjoy the tunes yeah that's why I say that this is the best category because it has all the best music yes if you notice throughout the run we'll be fighting all the bosses but one will be missing and that's piranha bean and that's because we don't actually view that as a boss there's a lot of reasons but the boss battle theme was the big factor so we skip that unfortunately for all the Piranha beam fans this is kind of Morgan Luigi's introduction to the main villain of the game tackle Etta and her side minion be far more popular fawful unfortunately because his name is because everything is in Japanese you don't quite get to see the peculiar peculiarities of his uh of his for most there's a lot of memorable quotes from this guy yeah this fight in particular it's not actually HP based it's based on how many dodges and time to tax you get so if I missed one it'll take an extra turn but luckily they're all very easy key also Telegraph's is attacks really well this is sort of the tutorial for how enemies kind of Telegraph their attacks sometimes is a text box sometimes it's you know what hand they use sometimes where their position is sometimes you kind of just guessed you pressed both buttons that's kind of old reliable with this game that's how I you guys have time for a couple of donations yeah that'll be a gopher that's we're just enough we're just gonna get shot down oh I mean I can wait if you need in the game yeah this is all good for donations these donations are all friendly I don't litter of shoe mr. hub with $10 and superstar saga hype one of my favorite GBA favorites played a lot of it mainly because my cart is faulty so I had to start over every time I turned it on looking forward to the bros dancing along to the battle music thanks for that there we go we got $10 from glitch the gamer I was supposed to wake up early for the Mario & Luigi run but never fell asleep really use some caffeine right about now hope the rest of the night troupe is doing well how about it we doing well everybody it sounds like they're doing well to me okay so right here there's a few tutorials in this game we've already gone through a couple but this game from the series is notorious for not being able to skip any upcoming is pretty much the tutorial talking about how you can jump with both Mario and Luigi and control them all so we're gonna literally jump over the border jump rope minigame yer would like want to do this yeah oh we're going free player co-op so right here bark as he should know he will be getting damaged twice and that way you want me to get damaged just wait for the final swing around so that you want to get hit once before the final swing yeah tell me right here duck jump and then you want to get the train some more yeah that was a trip up one good job and for taking those four hits there actually minimizes the amount of time they have to sit here looking at these fireworks yeah there's one blip every single extra life that they have you can actually come back to this minigame to get some beans later on we're not gonna be getting any any beans other than the ones that we just happened to get by happenstance but that's just a fun little thing to do in an actually good way to pile up the beans for the drink the coffee drink a little side quest so right there they went into a green pipe and green pipe sort of act as the little law warp zones for this game there's a total of nine of them we're going to be unlocking six or seven of them just to kind of get around the kingdom really quickly and that one's actually really important for a late-game section yeah there's only nine types in this one they have the remake of this game on the greediest where they added even more more offensive air faster travel so Bowser wound up in this cannon like I think it is actually a cannon and the border guard here does not particularly take kindly to foreigners so yes just to pay the bridge toll of 100 coins we pay about 100 coins but it turns out we only have Mushroom Kingdom coins which are worst basically ten coins and the bean feed Kingdom currency so the exchange rate is not very good as we get later on in the game the exchange rate ends up being 99 like billion Mushroom Kingdom coin is worth 99 be being king of the coins so basically bad stuff happening to your monarch seems to just utterly ruin your economy yeah the coin route I'll be taking right now I guess really you can't miss a single point I'm doing this right now because if I go up left and get some extra coins there's a chance of soft blocking it's happened to be once but there's some buy school supplies full platforms that for some reason Luigi just likes to fall off of them randomly and then you're stuck there forever so he needs to collect 100 coins here and there found in coin bought and enemies here and you can get up to a hundred and one he's gonna go for a route that does it gets up to a hundred yeah off of the blocked there and two enemy fights so he needs to be perfect and so timing on some of those coin blocks is not nearly as nice as you think so particularly [Music] and so if he makes a mistake on there you'd have to do an extra fight which would not be fun and we'd waste time so here we're gonna unlock the overworld abilities of high jump and spin jump they do exactly what they say on the tip jump up high it's been across a it caused a few problems on English where you can do things like you could skip this jump course and fixing that small thing ended up like super changing the route for the Japanese version [Music] thinking all specific match tutorial without you yeah you can skip the batch tutorial we tried to skip the hammer tutorial as well but that one didn't seem like it was possible and there's also way more effects after getting 10 coins out of those blocks in particular as was mentioned really really difficult to get used to [Music] here's the combat tutorial for the fros attacks which are sort of the games special abilities under their HP in battle the bottom left to say two numbers the top one is their HP that runs out of zero Falls to zero they'll be knocked out and they both get knocked out they lose obviously underneath that is their bros points and pretty much every ability that they're gonna use it's gonna use three of those so that's sort of their resource anyway burrows abilities are just kind of like your special attacks each one is its own like little minigame the first two that we have are splashed froze and bouncing rose yeah these bros attacks will be our main ways of damaging enemies early in the game we can still jump but for all the bosses this would be like the only way to do more than 2 damage to them that might be English only they've all happened to me on English so surely the the second version is a little more trustworthy but one time I was playing any percent and during that Rose attack Mario just continued flying off the screen and I was stuck here forever now we're doing some jumped on that guy luckily I can alter the route to fix this but you want we want to hit three enemies here one of them will have three three enemies in them and the other two will have four it's actually sorry I think hey mr. Bowker when I said two enemies slightly different route then that's by any percent and as you can see here you can pretty much dodge all the attacks sometimes it's faster to get hit when you can survive like the enemies will go back in place a little clip here so early on in the run Luigi's power will matter a bit later on his powers gonna matter less and less and then eventually Mario's powers gonna stop mattering so they're only gonna level it up as far as they need to and then after that they're just gonna level up HB because a little bit of extra bolt can help ya the early game powers pretty important but a will be so low level later that like we said just doing HP the quickest one to get on the screen I know I used to hate this song when I was hearing it on my gameboy fans but hearing it in stereo headphones grew on me we actually have $25.00 from 496 who says foul music is so great their GDP playlist somewhere I so listened to it I don't know that there is but we can we can certainly find out I've also got $5.00 from Tiny Tim who says they all had to donate for the Mario and Luigi superstar saga run and also the amazing ghost of them Oh on the couch Cheers thank you Tim good friends my power is good so one little thing you'll notice that merr Miller is doing any time he's going up any sort of slant usually like a staircase he's going to be sort of jumping but you'll see like he'll tilt upwards or downwards and then jump this is actually a trick called stair jumping because when you're moving or just jumping straight up a staircase it actually slows you down but if you point perpendicular to the stairs and then jump sideways you lose that sort of like it gets rid of that little delay there and stays a little bit of time it doesn't think that you're jumping up the stairs and then you start turning this is kind of the first real boss this is tolst our kind of gimmick to his attacks and sometimes they'll have attacks that actually bounce I and the trick to dodging those is doing nothing so it kind of becomes as a matter of just figuring out you know do I dodge this attack by jumping or do I just you know let it go like that what this game is really about just testing your reactions to attack but they've played it so many times they kind of are just you know used almost every attack he actually has the fight in the anypercent version is a little different because of English in this game your stats are different when you start up so in this one you can actually just continue attack and graph the whole thing because your BP is so high yeah they sort of rebalance clawed the combat zone [Music] mr. this boss thing because he's gonna hear it a lot it's a good thing it's a good boss thing yeah we're gonna [Music] for that stole star Eric Lee Luigi's power is slightly less important but in the beginning any extra power from him will be he'll gonna go for swag Joe you can actually make this jump by jumping across regularly it looks like you might have to spin jump but there's a piece Paz because to jump over it's like almost perfect a very nice the actual hardest thing that he's done this this part not really getting a hundred coins is probably but close second yester here I'm still continuing to go out of my way for items there will be a little branches in the past up ahead where I'll get more items to the story here is the bean bean Kingdom is kind of in turmoil and these royal guards here think that Mario and Luigi might be responsible for the disappearance of the prince who went missing nearby and you know they're strangers who can't really vouch for themselves so our kind of excuses we literally just got here and toll star vouches for us that's why he shows up in that cutscene there but now we have to kind of figure out where the prince has gone [Music] just a lot of little optimizations for where to use my jump to kind of jump over something to save just like a little sliver of time like as you get more and more used to this game kind of just get used to all the tiny little micro time saves throughout it ends up making this a very dynamic speed game you know there's a interact yeah nice dad talk to this if casually it's very like confusing where you have to go this cutscene is amazing anyway did they fix them the remix I don't I'm not sure if they fixed that okay I think they did I haven't actually seen that portion of the run of it a while my good friend snowy on runs that version quite a different run given the amount of ways they reworked throws attacks and all that these two guys here are looking to make the finest hammers that they can as you can tell by their cape literally being that of a hammer and unfortunately they don't have the materials to do it so they asked us to go on a quest to look for the the stones that they can use to make hammers so on that screen back there here to talk to you specifically the second npc from the bottom head into that room to trigger that cutscene and then he now has access to [Music] and there's all kinds of little boot the tricks and just little things that you can do to save time here the mouths a really cool place also a lot of ways the run could die here especially in any % that's one thing if you're going for a really good time gonna have to do an extra attack on these guys good time for a couple more comments in here J called much split for superstar saga as well yeah yeah that's what we call it in partner sometime just be do a very similar thing although a lot more often what they're gonna do is stack at a precise position underneath this little rock here and that's gonna allow them to kind of spin upwards on top onto the ledge above it's a little glitch that's really precise but it ends in a bathing like a minute of movement on them out in the air so you got it fairly decent time yeah it's pretty precise especially because I trying these small pixels so they get pretty quick yeah the movement diagonally has the pouch back to the frame it's kind of weird to explain but not Israel I love her visual presentation Mario just gorging himself with water as Luigi sees just begging him spray like a it's a lot of really funny this minigame is fairly random it can either start one or two spins away from here so you could say ever lose a little bit of time depending on that so far they so far he's had pretty good luck [Music] it's possible to get all of them to spaces away but I don't think any runner has ever seen that I know a couple times everyone's gotten the second worst luck though was their second boss his gimmick is God funded these pillars you have to break her first because if you break the one he's under he's gonna just dash over to the other one and it'll kind of lead to this infinite loop fight until you finally realize no I need to hit the one that he's not under because he's gonna go to the he's gonna go to that spot then he just gets upset and doesn't counter-attack that's actually one of the areas that I think the versions differ in certain bosses have certain counter-attacks in one version and not in the other another version difference here is how these pillars break in the US version they just touch them chat us to although for finding that in an actual extreme of the game yes Luigi's power is actually a bit low I'm gonna be using in the his bro attack on the pillars themselves when you use bro attacks a counter rises every time and then you unlock advanced commands after certain number so his advanced commands much stronger the animation is also faster I was actually going to get the advance command there didn't we just talked about how you don't stop luck if you unlock it on this pillar but I thought it was a little too spooked out to do it that's the horse bite very simple fight they start getting a lot more complex as the game goes on but for now it's just kind of a logical progression and nice another two they start getting harder at a harder because they starts off having the opportunity to get a three but then it eventually only becomes a two and then a smaller and smaller chance of getting into later games in this series you actually can pretty reliably get a the two on the one to kind of little slot but this game it's so just unreliable there's no timing method for it I believe the remake properly actually actually the remake doesn't even have stat rolls you know what he was talking about how your chances decrease of getting threesome twos if you level up the same ability multiple times in the road that the game slow they're kind of way of keeping you from then maxing and you know balancing out your stats which speedrunners we're not gonna be doing and we don't need no defense dodge everything you've ever be be perfect yeah Japanese in particular also has lower damage our lower power roles and other level up rules in particular than prepared to English there's another balanced thing they did between versions good fit is it possible to make that a whirlwind on a first cycle or is just I'm pretty sure it's not maybe by some special fastest grants which shut up by the way I need to give a quick shout-out to mug 1991 who came up with a lot of the strats that we're gonna see in the run here as well as the first like major tasks in this game was really showcasing just how broken this game could be washed out a particular for this category black yeah when he first started the record was about I think it was just about sub 3 3 hours and he brought it down to under 241 like experiments with all new glitches but dragon hatches from this giant egg knocks this rock for place ly where it needs to go yeah we were actually tasked with coming back with one of these rocks so that's pretty lucky because we didn't bring remember that dinosaur we're gonna see him a little bit later anyways here's the dragon oh ho he has 80 HP and this is one of the fights where power actually does matter because it can save a turn yeah and this fight we want to unlock both advanced commands for their bro attacks tail wag he's a happy boy and it also resulted in Mario landing on the boss and that uses Mario's power stat we juice yeah when I use it right here you can notice that Mario is the one that touches the actual enemy so for some reason that's how the game is programmed whoever touches does the damage kind of make sense advanced techniques in this game are performed through the same command if you only ever played the remake they actually separated advanced commands with their own abilities that take up or PP but generally do more damage the little rebalancing things they did I actually really like the remakes or some of the things that it did with this game but you know the traditional version ends up being a little bit faster paced overall three fossils down something around there so real quick here you see he's leveling up these he gets that which is the Japanese word for mustache the stache stat in this game it has two properties one of which is it increases the chance of getting a lucky hit with a basic attack also this was principies lee and all of his fabulous glory and he's the mystery prince that we have saved and now he's gonna give us a key basically to get into the bean bean castle first as thanks for saving him but anyways the importance of the stash stat the first thing it does is increases your chance of a lucky hit with a regular attack the second thing that it does is the better your stash in the war camp some you are to the shopkeepers to the point where they actually charge less for different items so the higher your stat is the cheaper you can buy goods for and that's very important when buying mushrooms becomes part of the wrap [Music] because they'll gonna want to get him as cheap as possible and it ends this game having a ends up having a fairly tight money route they need specific amounts of mushrooms at certain points least you guys get as a hammer that's gonna break the snow and the fawful dropped in our way and we're gonna proceed onwards and this is kind of nice because after that whole section is where the game really starts to open up and I think this is it kind of really one of the reasons a lot of people like this game for some of the later games this game end up being fairly linear for later games the series and it being fairly linear and not nearly as open as this one does yeah it's our first action command on top that we can use on the front row it's actually the only one we unlock how we give the fire yeah I guess right now I can talk about a little bit of the item routes some more each encounter that we did earlier there's a chance to drop in mushrooms if we get extra we can just get to the items early on so like right here I'm going to the right I did get one mushroom drop I believe but just to play it safe I'll continue to get every item that's routed in this is herbs here are also nice because you really want to be doing basically nothing but frozen tax for boss fights which since every encounter in this game was dodge of all you really are only going to be doing boss fights for the run yeah from here on out hopefully this is the minecart minigame it's absolutely free talking about I failed a laser I filled it like five times casually when I was playing this to the kid I had to stop playing this for a year because I couldn't beat it I think y'all have that story you can come back and do extra challenges for beans right yeah those ones are way too high I don't think I've ever been any of them there's 15 here of the gems and kind of it's a neat little minigame where you have to you know keep your spotlight on the back as Luigi LT CLE matters a little bit more here there are two rocks that appear in the way and each one will cause you to lose three gems it's a bit of a running gag in the community that at some point somebody is going to fail this minigame in a run like a very American for like a marathon and it's just going to be the day I skipped the first rocks though today is not the day guarantee you I mean you could just not jump in that salty biscuit Ultima skin is another well known and respected runner for this game he's here at the event but it's currently 5:30 ish in the morning understandable goes for the swag perfect yeah Altos want the pioneers yeah yeah he actually started playing on gameboy advance and then switched to Wii U Virtual Console and then it ended up we all just switched back to Game Boy Advance anyways yeah the Wii U Virtual Console he is it it's a decent enough way to learn the game it's really nice for like actually getting started on learning the game because you have the option of restore points particularly in any percent you can't save anywhere in the game due to a quirk with the timer that matters at the very end of the run but in all bosses thankfully on the Japanese version they actually can save because this famous work does not come into play in the round yeah you really can't overstate how important those restore points are and another kind of little benefit to running on a gameboy advance is certain fights lag a lot on the Wii U Virtual Console to make certain attacks actually really hard to dodge so we're gonna head on down to the beam beam council town here and you're gonna see it's just been blown the crap up yeah I think they're at the run this castle as always are the times always like in shambles I think we get a steep 30 seconds of it being fixed [Music] we just raid the shop destroy it again Congrats destroy destroy at the town economy so bad who this perfect digital lab these guys are great the cuts things not as funny in English although he does stay nonny [Music] yeah this is a running gag throughout the games I think this is probably like the first game that started to give Luigi his main character trade where he's just like a big joke compared to Mario unlucky who are you the Mario the Mario Brothers what are those I have no idea well we can't let you in but Luigi pulls out these leaves rose and that suddenly is the password basically of course there's not really a whole lot we can do and being being Castle itself what's gonna end up happening is the lead ambassador we saw briefly in the first cutscene before it turned out to be calculative she inspects to us and says the castle town is in way too bad of a state I can't just let hooligans in here so she's just gonna drop a trap trapdoor underneath our feet and challenge us to prove that we are who we say we are by fixing the cast of plumbing it as this is one of the only sections in any mario game where they actually do their literal job now I'll be dodging these super fly enemies they're pretty annoying to dodge they have quick bursts of movement that is their actual name he is not complement two more enemies that I have to end up dodging like a good+ problem if an enemy does hit me I'll most likely choose to fight them when you run away in this game you end up losing a lot of coins and he absolutely needs specific coin thresholds for certain points of the game for the right number of mushrooms but those rather than being kind of like a linear scale it's sort of like segments like he needs a certain amount for a certain threshold in order to meet the requirements of the item that he needs later which is dependent on the number of mushrooms videos this puzzle doesn't give a very good indicator of how to solve it and I think most of us ended up just solving it naturally this way anyway yeah if did those on certain order the quarks all come out again then unlock the final door pipe but these two enemies left quarters yeah these two enemies are a bit tough to dodge got time for like a quick donation fantastic Auto TMC says greetings from Colorado's superstar saga is my favorite Mario RPG sum up early on a work day to watch this run can't wait to see how Emilio and cryptic controls Mario and the green one good luck and save the bean we year of luigi best bro so this is Lima who we just saw in an earlier cutscene she says she's never seen us in her life and the little bean here says perhaps it was an imposter so it turns out that leave Maya was actually kak Letta as you can tell by her signature laughs and she is just released the seal on what is called the bean scar which is the main plot MacGuffin of this game apart from Princess Peach's voice but that actually ties into that the beans star basically grants one wish to that to a person of a like the voice of a person of a pure heart so naturally they go from Princess Peach because they are evil and cannot you know get that themselves we're not gonna see much of that story more of it than you will in the any percent it makes no sense in this version you're gonna get its gonna be like momento we're just you know it's not going to have any proper order what's the left right that's a great thing about the run everything is the open-world at this point there's gonna be a lot of going her all around the place so this is a queen being she has been infected by the belly belts were more black worm I don't cover exactly which it is and her crown is acts as a sort of spy Tintin which makes this might have one of three ways that you could actually do it first which is just to repeatedly hit her which is very very very slow and because she only takes one damage unless you break through fists in which case you do the crown falls off and you can hit her head I did that as a kid and had to do 120 hits it was a very long fight naturally they have a faster stat which is to just use advanced splash bros which does 25 damage and it basically means that this is a five parent fight queen beaten on this version national has 100 HP s is going to be a fortune foot 5 my mistake yeah that that's the reason we wanted the tutu's and the power level ups with that we'll be able to do 25 damage return I got an extra descended up doing 26 there's a lot of really sort of like confusing differences the worst is probably in the sequel harvest in time where the final boss has a discrepancy of like 3500 HP between versions all right so we've incapacitated the Queen using the advanced flash bros but I don't think I can properly explain but it allows as you can see it allows you to pierce spike enemies I believe that's one of the only uses of that in this category quiet dip those double damage to spike enemies it is really cool to just like one of the cool things about all bosses as opposed to any percentage you do get to like see a few more different strats now that one is a 90% but there's a couple others that you get to see at different spots and that is like just I think one of the things that really draws me and I think a lot of others to RPG speedruns crowding out like different strats where you'll find like one fight that uses one particular strat is really cool so this beam here is teaching us about badges which are one of this games two main forms of equipment this Mo's Mario RPGs tend to be fairly beginner friendly RPGs like this one actually probably being the most difficult mario RPG of them all but being fairly user friendly and that you only have two pieces of equipment which are your your like clothing and then your bad your bad is giving you usually a special effect and your clothing which is usually armor but also vacation that gives you stats for both of those so the next pass that we need to do is find some way to get the Queen to cough up the belly belt worm and/or black I don't remember and to do that we need to head over to chuckhole of woods which is where they makes a cola-cola which kind of like this magical soda that will purify purify the system so to speak I'm glad you're here instead of one calf it's been so long since I've read any story oh it's also in Japanese guy almost nine you gotta look at see this pair of penis are kind of annoying it's actually a cool strategy bridge yes the section here in shkolu to air Chateau is a they shall Cola whatever excuse my terrible French you're seeing a lot of barrels here of Cola here and this is kind of a little sneak peek at what we're gonna be seeing for the rest of the run because this is about the part where the normal gameplay ends and the rod and really begins so we've lost the lychee and this little thief bTW I believe that is actually what they call the residents here the toad equivalents there like beneath ravines his name is pawel and he is the sort of thief and he's made friends with character who is completely original do not steal ever seen this guy in my life yeah all the poeple fights as apart from one come with a rookie which is his partner's name and also has like the best boss name of the game yeah so although more especially because after you killed rookie Pappa Lee runs away and Kabul can actually kill one of the bros right before he leaves so we'll want to take some damage so you can feel one of the rows at the end and it'll end up skipping a level which is pretty much useless at this point yeah in any percent this is like this would make or break your run but in this category because there are so many bosses the level up so many times at times they put all that yeah and it's also pretty guaranteed for one of them to die it's not like no matter if you wanted like Luigi has to die in any percent either them die in this category [Music] so any person there's a boss fight where Luigi doesn't die actually like 40 seconds for all the level of so Ricky he remembers that he can do this the Spitfire I love the little animations of just text in these fights this really just little sequences that show you know keep slowly remembers who he actually is which is somebody we've never seen before so now that he's killed Ricky just need just does the quickest attack on poeple here and beat up Luigi yeah so we took the damage on that previous turn on purpose so that one of the bros guaranteed died out as far as getting my a little extra stash the shopping trip will be coming up shortly this is far from the last we'll see of pop wall he has a total of four boss fights as Bernoulli mentioned free with our free with a rookie one solo this little section here I think a lot of people didn't actually know you go here in their casual playthrough I certainly didn't know until I saw Emilio speedrun this game for the first time yeah but up here we're gonna unlock our second Burroughs move and rows actions man on the overworld these that the more important part that the moving option will they give you is the new attacks they also give you that's gonna be pretty much our only attack for the rest of the game they're so strong they're gonna teach techniques of small Mario shadow to Mario 3 actually Mario 1 sorry small Mario which is like the classic Mario where Mario is half his normal size and then the I don't know exactly what they call it but you bury Luigi under the ground I think they're Mouse Mario and Molly and these two abilities in tandem with a few items are going to completely shatter this and basically destroy any semblance of natural sequence yeah about like three or four minutes of normal gameplay left so we just need to use these abilities to grab a couple of goblets to show the beef master how to use them so you can read off a donation here [Music] we've got one from our very own fellow host sporadic erratic on the backups right now Mario and Luigi used bro attacks what about brah attacks right you're doing a great job brah love from the back couch [Music] yeah so most of the this route has been just battle strategies generally fast movement but now we're finally going to be able to do a lot more tricks yes coming up is the infamous barrel storage and sign glitch combination I don't quite know the specifics on this one all I know is Tech if you're not familiar with this run this is going everything that's going to happen is going to be completely intended it is not on your everything's fine that makes luigi's a button blank he goes up to the sign that stores the sign actually man that just lets us see a bunch of these and if you want to like see another side effect I just have to so that whole sandwich was to get fire hand gonna jump up REO which allows you to press the high too fast and you use that to get the barrel because we're gonna be traveling to the next area which has a chance of soft locking for the next glitch I think affectionately referred to as pixel vomits in this version is actually like almost a little more extreme than the one in the North American version there are some instances in North America where [Music] yes the high jump and barrel are the most important action commands because using them you can cycle through any others that you need but barrel also has another effect where we talked about earlier this switching mechanic the mechanics between Mario and Luigi where you just warp through walls barrels hitbox is actually so big that you end up out of bounds when you switch while you have a parallel next area of top yes so he's gonna put barrel over Luigi right now he has to be very careful just around the corner he doesn't [Music] boss yeah this significantly more complicated on the North American version Honda Japanese person he just has to press Start and a little slowly advance the barrel forward and he's gonna be doing a lot of that to get into places that he is not meant to get to at this point of the game at all yeah he's gonna grab this item from the ball here this to just four coins it's actually there's two types of barrel clipping where you go like through a wall or as on slee or you transport yourself to the very top of the wall mr. it depends on the collision you go through yeah so this area is an area where you're only supposed to get here as a bt if you actually were to jump on one of those two springs there it would stop block the game how's a little bit yeah yeah so he can't actually break these rocks because they require an upgraded hammer but due to the use of just barrel clipping he can just bypass them so completely destroy the law easily what are you stepping up right now is called a hat teleport where he's gonna do is it's gonna dunk Luigi with a butch hammer this is gonna get right now after this high jump here yeah my solo remix of the song okay so he's got the glitched hammer you have to be very careful not to press button extra time there up yes well I have a glitches other than high jump if I messed up then I actually can't read redo the any of the setup yes what he's doing is these high jumping I'm Luigi bavuji's dumped and it sort of just messes with how Myron Luigi follow each other you can teleport all over the screen so it's gonna do that right here with a very specific line up to tell first I actually don't like I felt I felt a little too low [Music] this is one of the harder tricks in the run for it [Music] I need one pixel yep you got it all right he's gonna he's got a good barrel now I can count to eight I swear yeah you can tell where you are in the sequence based on how many hi come show up alright you got it we're just gonna levitate up to fungi town yeah you found the princess too and she has her voice back to completely intended so Trumble actually is a boss fight but right now it's been not a very good time to fight him you actually cannot fight it right now yeah there's a whole sequence of events you have to go through to unlock it he's a wall right so Funkytown here is one of the most important locations so much so that we actually take a significant amount of time to get here and in any percent run because it sells the mush bag as I've been mentioning several times on the run there is a badge that is dependent on how many mushrooms they have that is the mush batch there's a specific formula it is based on the amount of mushrooms and I think super ultra mushrooms as well but not 1ups in this game that it's sort of a formula that actually sets your damage to a flat in the minimum and the interesting thing about this badge it is so strong that they nerfed at about 60% in the Japanese version where the formula is significantly lower than on the American version and it is still by far the best badge in the game yeah later on there's an even more powerful badge with the same effect but you get 40 extra power on top of the mushroom Valley yeah that's only picked up in any person we don't grab the whole bosses so with the 64 mushrooms you've picked up how much does that set the minimum - yeah so every attack that they do will hit a bare minimum of seven damage if Mario is the one doing it which as we've mentioned pretty much every verreaux's attack in the game that we're gonna be using we're gonna be using Mario's damage so that does actually matter significantly yeah right here he's he's barely past these guards it's actually not going to fight the bosses and yeah this place is kind of actually one of the darker scenarios in this game we're not gonna see quite as much of that in this category because a lot of the rooms of this barrel clipping happens to just kind of utterly break so if you remember this being a really obnoxious teen time thankfully there will not be a whole lot of that yeah the reason why is going here first does this is a really quick way to get to know hallways this to get the firebrand which is going to the way to get all the glitches in the barrel on to Mario is through firebrand so doing that we can do it anywhere skipping past this gate here's it allows for a huge amount of time save in this area it just has to do this really difficult minigame it'll get revenge any later so yeah this is actually the final switch in the area to open up the last expire so hitting this switch automatically cuz the game but it's kind of assumes that you've done everything up until this point and this is sort of like the trigger for the ending part of the dungeon yeah so see right here is actually jumping on the barrel there's no corner to go around here so he actually had the series action plans he doesn't have a barrel anymore and stubby is on blink blink it's very important that he keeps that when he goes he's gonna lose it it's gonna be used to set up another glitch it's possible if you lose it to keep going glitchless throughout the rest of the area I'm sure would appreciate ya we're switching off right after this boss [Music] it really is per second I got you with the camera here there's an attack during this pack Letta fight spoilers CAC Letta already for the first time you fight her but it won't be the last yeah she has this cloning attack where she summons few extra bones of herself but it's really hard to tell which one it is the only way to do it is there's shadows that appear while they're forming and the shadows they vibrate a little and the correct one vibrates one frame off of the other two I'm gonna take a picture of it surely that will be helpful [Music] if you get all lightning I'm mad look like a clown even more than you right now yeah up audio cut out for me I'm finding here's the chopper bridge this is where the power of mush pattern really comes into play because every one of those kids doesn't minimum amount of seven damage and it's the bottom exactly which one of these correct yeah and I thought I was smart and don't move hmm I think I thought I saw middle cause it's like they threw me it's basically kind of like a little off we can get like on the little vibrating animation she does damn we actually just got out adios back by the way thanks the chopper froze he has like Altoids period to just mash a and that determines the amount of hits and that is the way to just rack up damage significantly higher than you're really meant to be doing [Music] those aren't the greatest mashes but if I did everything correctly I'll have a sort of quick kill where I skip it that's me fortunately I have to go next to Terry because who skips kind of the final phase there's that was a very solid cat but a five- of the mist there that's the Lightning's baby yeah this is where I'm gonna take over for our hopefully I'm actually doing a little extra ash Mario wants to keep is HP low for right now so you can get one shot in a later pop will fight you can get a little bit we have another propyl and rookie black coming up so kind of the story sequence here is cackle Etta has taken the beam star and set up robots to try and release peaches voice - you know sue then you know grant the wish that doesn't work and it just makes the theme star really really angry catgut has defeated so badly that her soul gets filled in the fossils helmet and now that we're all you know severely wounded after that fight quote-unquote he tries to finish us off but Prince Beasley comes to save the day so now we have to go find the missing teen star which is just kind of followed through the floor very angrily we're just going to town on that a button yeah this next area is a little bit annoying for the enemies their viruses from the doctor Mario games that appear and they they lunge at you really quickly so hopefully we can avoid them all getting a super mushroom and a super nut in the boxes there this red virus the worst this has been really quick yeah if he ends up going down you actually can't really get past them that wasn't too bad so right here storks gonna be setting up another glitch we used a barrel with Mario now we're gonna do it with Luigi and do the same thing call this wood barrel because if you actually get rid of the pixel vomit here Luigi's never actually supposed to be in the barrel rqt Mario's never supposed to be in a barrel so the game really doesn't know what to do with it Papa wants to steal the bean start here I love this piglet but like even though you can't conceive the text I love this part just like because bow like you're ready to fight you so much little flavor is escape so just like I did with cackle Etta earlier sorc also wants to do a sort of quick kill on this fight he wants to defeat rookie in two turns before a cutscene happens I'm just pretty good looking good for now Mario is not gonna die if he gets it had any % on the brain it's possibility not warmed up I got my excuses dang it's ok not a big deal this is actually one of the funniest fights normally there's actually a lot of pros attacks their own it looks like it would hurt oh oh yeah he's dead on him I'm hoping you do what you did for the hotfix race just do it jumping jumping no those they didn't ever one of that's all you do so here even though you can't kill him he still doesn't knock back bros knock back frozen choppa Rose also have advanced commands he wants to get knocked back for us at the very end it's required and this I'm just about to bite one of the final bosses in the area but it's also like the fastest way to damage enemies because it becomes an infinite attack as long as you time at every turn so one of the peach bots falls in and just Auto deploys the voice which makes the beat star very very angry i poeple and rookie are not gonna let it get away so naturally we cannot let evil have access to a free wish branch MacGuffin so what happens in this cutscene poeple kind of falls off on his own Mario Luigi fall - Oh hoo Asus and Riki remembers night was I was Bowser all along and he falls off at the start of the field and he being star breaks into 4 pieces we also never seen together it's separate from everywhere else on the main world you'd have to serve to get here getting the firebrand and certain hammers or whatever casually allows you to access this point but we're gonna be able to get here and get out of here faster with Faro [Music] it's Lorex entering the the firebrand temple you about to hear the worst dog in this game by far I don't mind it that much actually I love what they did with the remake version though if they went from mind-numbing repetitiveness to just like nightmare if you haven't played run without thunder hand being yes I make it mic which is back right here yeah now that you would call we need to do a firebrand to do the you dude right there yeah god it's actually worth [Music] one barrel is not enough though we want barrel on both these guys in the back [Music] like what was said earlier we don't need thunder hands so we're just leaving and do some surfing [Music] when you get to the surf spots you just hammer in Luigi into the ground and he becomes a surfboard but because he has the barrel sprite comes in with the brown sprite house get lost in these certain sections but yeah because I had to hammer Luigi right there actually at the clear Mario's barrel which is why I want one on Luigi here [Music] surfing normally is actually not unlocked until you get ultra hammers that's the two upgrades away but we're gonna stick with our regulars for the rest of the run the tiny little ledge there that we can get fast so we don't jump on the barrel if Luigi actually jumps on a void barrel but the game's a game is broken you can't get off oh that was fancy so we're skipping ahead to a later portion of the run where we find hermie a hermit crab that has the seashell decorated like a Christmas tree and he wants the star on top which he happens to have one of the four pieces of the bean cigar so he gets mad at us and this whole cutscene is completely messed up because we approach the screen from the left rather than from the bottle give this to Cocina five out of ten [Music] you can't see Mario but he was flexing for the part of the beam ladies we start asking him all sorts of questions Louie just like I wanna I want in on this and hurt me gets mad cuz he loses all of all of the attention that you sought after and for once the way he actually gets recognized [Music] Urmi he counter-attacks every time you attack his face and that's his main body of H feed so we since Luigi's damages and then crazy Mario oh sorry Oh we'll be doing the beach attacks on all the claws and Mario should be focusing on the face then Hermey also has a chance to hide in the shell and it lasts two to three turns but I assume you'll be letting hide red yeah yeah you can hit him with fire to get him out but it's actually really fast to grant knock back on ya talked about earlier where we need to knock back advance to get knocked back advance to beat a hit and knock back 40-plus times and him hiding in the shell it feels every turn he heals everything and that's like one of the fastest attacks in the game yeah and it doesn't really waste that much time to do it here because later on they have to basically grind it out anyways so the fewer like the more hits that he could hit he gets now the fewer that he's gonna have to do on like random battles later was a little crab that just runs behind you want to get into your techniques for how you mash the a button so fast both like to use two thumbs right yeah I'm actually a copycat of stork stork uses two thumbs and I started doing it for this category used to run two fingers on the a button and before that only Virtual Console was like you could rebind your control to L or R and just mash that and that actually ended it ended up being a fairly useful way to I think learn this game too you have to get used to mashing that out so if you can't quite match the a button that fast yet you can just start with like mashing the two fingers on the elbow which is a very big button on believe game yeah sometimes depending on movement or whatever trick needs to be done after Xbox I'll shift my hand over and do that sort of mashing still but start salty yes yes actually has a chance to hide again right after yeah and I'll be mad yep no you usually want to wait brief to come out himself but that's not exactly out of BPM knock back some pretty bad luck does anyone know why sometimes like kind of pulsate that is like Jeff never figured out what that means like right there it it has the same animation is like the attack oh yeah it doesn't that doesn't actually help this attacker it's just giving bad maybe it's just getting mad it's pretty bad pretty young sir got some bad luck yeah the we're just over halfway yeah well they're well you didn't say that there's like 24 boxes in the game nine of those are in the plan the final dungeon I don't know if the but the final two phase is kind of two separate fights I'm not sure if I'm a great at math yes either 9 or 10 depending but regardless a lot of them happen in the final there's also a couple that are like barely Boston but they have the boss team so they knit to death meet the definition of the category it's all closed the only time until they cream to you big team did nothing wrong ten [Music] yeah we're just going back out the way we came we came through the exit originally and the way to unlock that little bridge is normally you would need the bros hand attacks unlocked but we don't touch those at all and then we're also gonna serve to a later part of the game to grab the pipe and unlock it for the next we do that right before the final area while we're surfing you can probably get a donation or two good to me by since we don't have those abilities we have to see if let's break past them and right here is a very tricky Merrill clip which managed to get first trial which is actually really good and this allows them to skip over here which the only reason we're here is with a pop will fight although there will be the third beat start piece and you actually have to initiate its fight from the right side oh you broke the barrels No [Music] I'm just scared all right this place is pretty awful he has a I'm not sure what exactly the person chances but he can go in the back and grab a little thief bag and he'll throw items that you that attack waste at least a bit of time compared to him just coming and getting hit by the hammers what's in the bag simply the more rare of his attack okay we don't see that this is a long fight though it's like five or six turns piece of coins you're good enough this detects more beneficial than it hits detrimental what did you try to like grab the student once yeah I try to route that in once thinking of maybe those points would be worth it but they're actually only worth one point each which is unfortunate if they were worth like maybe even ten that would be a lot of extra damage for later on [Music] one or two more cans you should go down should be one more I wouldn't let me have it no no that's bad Luigi might live ahead you might have some safety and get [Music] we luckily have one 1up mushroom we're gonna pass tomorrow okay yeah your power is good after this fight you want to make sure you have at least 44 power so one time in the game we actually defeat bubble it's not even his last fight that's the final beam star piece that we're gonna be collecting I don't really care but it just happens that way the other two one of them is trapped in one of them is this movie theater director has it he wants to exchange for something being fruit beam fruits which you have to go around the kingdom talking to Yoshi's to collect one of them is in an enemy that was mentioned very early on in the run called piranha bean but Ronna bean has a regular battle theme anew we don't know if the game treats it as a regular encounter more as a boss fight so for the purposes of just having a clean-cut rule that fight is not going to be done in the run which is kind of nice because it ultimately just ends up being Luigi does an attack and then dodges like 10 times and then yeah with the addition of the music it's also like the only fight that you do Luigi so oh that's not like a tutorial and the other bean star piece you have to do this like painting shirts minigame that's you you work under Ava's we're gonna add that you don't have to do all the patterns no you don't have to do like the ones who requires you can do more patterns later for I think like you get some pants I do too if you fell asleep you're my agdq round a couple years ago this room is weird for some reason if you have a barrel break or summin in this room the game just crashes for some reason it probably has something to do with like this couple Rita and Pepsi there are it doesn't end up being too much play time lost for all bosses because you do have to fight a fight that is considered a boss in order to get all the fruits yeah and luckily right after that boss there's another area where we can redo our coaches [Music] there's wiggler [Music] probably the second-fastest bossfight you were able to one shot him but he does have a second phase if Vegas had honorable first but on all the segments of the killer but he only has 34 age really the trick is just making sure you don't keep trying to hit the head over and over you actually try and hit him while he's weak yeah if you if you accidentally hit in the head all of his segments turn to red again [Music] and one knock back will defeat him that's this is the fight where 44 powers and 4 in after this no more power will be spent on the leveler glad for that it was a precise jump to get the second fall on the next level of I think you don't want to do power is myopia 36 [Music] to pubs that [Music] I'm setting up my favorite a chucker is confusing this one's free it's another hat teleport I'm going to teleport into a wall and use BG out-of-bounds buddies Mario as your skirt yeah this is one of the coolest tricks in the game I feel like a little bit different than every other it looks like it just have hammer MRSP but let's actually a glitched a mare like we mentioned earlier so I can actually just girl through action bands [Music] so controls are actually reversing you're out of bounds it's a bit trickier than it looks I was actually kind of weird I was like yeah well yeah that's there's everyone claps of feelings tree there once your quote unquote get all the fruits you head to the deepest part to Kola woods and you'll find an old man who is basically fermenting this legendary ciccolo Cola by telling it really really bad jokes for years and years on it something like what do so what just so to call it the dad pop stuff like that of course we wouldn't be here if there wasn't a boss fight and it turns out the soda live I like to think he's actually telling us that a really funny joke stand by laughing it's making the soda extra fizzy [Music] so this boss has two phases and the second phase you can do a gun attack where you to pull up soda at them there's actually one one attack with the gun where it's very hard to dodge to one frame right yeah I believe it's one frame I've heard other sources where it's undable but I'm gonna put it up there with the boys fire yeah I'll just pretend like it's undoubtable when I get hit I don't feel bad everything I miss yeah this guy goes down pretty fast he's in the early game foot yeah when we started when they started doing all those glitches earlier on in the run this was meant to be like the section that they were going to do before the barrel shenanigans so now that were see now that they're significantly higher level all these fights end up being my fighting a little upset in there I'm on Branagh yeah that's also another quick kill he has a another phase where it becomes tiny and then there's cutscenes with him getting killed by laughing at some joke so there's another an instance of Luigi being solo it's a bit it's easier to dodge enemies but Luigi is really slow compared to Mario's so if he gets hit a lot to dodge a few attacks pretty bad with the selection of the things like ruff is like a little hit that might hit different property is I believe Luigi like every one of his animations and battle like Oh No Fox do you think that hammer in the lake dodging the like all have like a little bit of extra lag before he goes it's really bad with like hammer counter-attacks and I think it's that way in most of the games in this series are you know that one was a little suspect that one was impossible it's not my fault thankfully doesn't lose nearly as many coins running away with one bro when you have more than one they're prone to tripping and then that costs a lot of points never see those 13 coins so I'm just gonna give a brief disclaimer this next kind of scene of this next cutscene is a left arrive and if you end up going for the wrong exit you'll end up like moving off that are out of bounds off screen and you can't complete the cutscene yeah makes the run that's why we do Chuck vertically compared to horizontally [Music] the whole section here is Princess Peach at this point in the story was supposed to have basically arrived to get her voice back she never lost it actually in the first place that was basically a cosmic brain plan that toadsworth and Princess Peach being in Kingdom were absorbed of ahead of time so they set up a plan to set up a fake so Peach never lost her voice in the first place and that is actually why the bean star got so angry with the with the robots but she's trying to land here at the airport for VP Kingdom but she can't because a bunch of plants mysteriously ended up on the runway it's an eerily reminiscent of my of my flight here that's the landing in Jackson okay because he could have at the airport and also when she lands here when we were going to Funkytown that's where she ends up so that's kind of her journey yeah of course that giant egg in the center happens to be a boss really have you would think whenever you film re up with the water you actually believe Jesus I have to get it back every time usually which commands in the front are easy to clear whenever something happens to one of the roads that's why we also had a lady who entered which custody University keep that blank a bow [Music] I swear that looks like a of vomit version of like the police it is impossible to tell like what's actually going on so you just kind of bake things yeah that's our boss right there yeah this is mom piranha she is looking for 200 something HP and it's a really really annoying by casually because for each plant she has in front she'll kill 20 points of damage he killed one of them and changed its color to food it will show on the heel 10 damage a turn she also goes a counter attack from your Chucky yeah hopefully so I can get a to turn but with the healing it's be tough that's why I wanted you kill it counter both of them what ends up happening is they turn blue and then the mom prong turns blue as well and the color actually indicates their weakness we hit the piranha plant with fire it actually doesn't critical which is double damage although chopper bros is significantly more powerful than hand attacks right now so I don't know you would need get up Oh perfect calculated historic the the king of last fit hints we did in any percent erase a week ago and he defeated the final boss with a jump that did two damage that was amazing after this marathon is over definitely check out the Nevada on that one that's on GDQ hotfix yeah that was a lot of fun also Luigi crushes mob piranha with buns of steel I don't know about you but it seems pretty dangerous for civilians to be standing on an O'Conner runway as a police it's not file a follow FAA regulation so here's actual not fake lady NEMA with actual later yeah normally how you'd get through the TT Valley you start this escort mission and that's usually the first time you enter that area so since we've already come like the game thinks you've already completed it since we've been to Funkytown the actual area will be different with the with the enemies that are in there we'll still just go through yeah it's actually isn't it after it now attacked your Funkytown yeah there's an old route where we used to not be Berto then [Music] so actually gonna head to the shop and buy some mushrooms now TV Valley's the next area they're gonna go to it's desert area and that's kind of the path where funky town is they're gonna go actually go the path that they intend you to take but normally there's this really really bad escort mission where any time an enemy everything you'll miss rooms anytime an enemy appears next to Princess Peach it'll take her kidnapper and bring her down a pipe making the whole sequence have to be repeated just wanted to make sure I didn't sell that one up there because we didn't lose the backup get my Poppa fit yeah you might want to get the extra one before - yeah these guys are pretty annoying the lack of these checks findings that you charges I guess we have no coins anymore so doesn't matter and we're also a high enough level for this area where it's easy to run away so you don't ever actually upgrade the hammer in this category do you know any percent cliff yeah yeah I'd be kind of faster getting a sharpie any percent gets one upgrade use a you know using the command rewrite function that causes all the pixel vomit to get an extra camera grade yeah they're really yummy to hold left is you know we're not doing that I'll explain it that there's a few cutscenes of this game where the text is actually separate from what's what goes on in the background so you can mash through the text upcoming and you can actually save Princess Peach I'm getting kidnapped because you can move while discussing happens don't never out that's why we're not doing it yeah III ended up pulling it off the other day and now I just filled with ideas of doing it but yeah before we go and save peach which should be fun yeah she'll be fine for just a bit it's like that one weird thing that happens it's the need paper bar the thousand-year door whatever but that's about it this is another flying hat teleport this one we call the big skip because in any percent it actually skips about 60% of the game don't like we should have said that a long time ago that there used to it [Music] this one is also pretty specific but there's an easier setup for this that's a really consistent [Music] not done yet we still need to get Beryl and Simon luigia [Music] good one quick trip around the safety cactus alright where's the was if you hit that hard blah blah these dry bones are very strong and it will most likely kill us so we gotta make sure to avoid them now this area is actually the last area in the game before you enter Bowser's Castle technically a barrio all these sections so yes he has to enter this room with Mario at the front if the AG's in the front it's softlocks Oh Luigi just did a quick teleport behind those roofs and I hug it out is it never see each other often say to each other in a long time so poeple actually found a new rookie Brito went from helping us out with peach the instantly turning back in this way you also want to get hit but the damage output is so big because they're so strong at this point it's really hard for you to set up the road F at the very end yeah Roberto has 700 HP in this fight doesn't matter here check here yeah she doesn't have a counter-attack like old refuted [Music] and if you didn't if you didn't see how strong Chopra prose and plush and lush badges you're probably supposed to be around level 30 for this fight and we're doing it at or around the 15 what you actually have four turns to kill but threes the norm [Music] yeah so now all the stats really don't matter at all so we're just giving you HP the the fastest one since adopted move the cursor and maybe you'll be able to survive some hits later on in the game you can watch it guys six times too right [Music] so Paul focus bad bird Oh Umberto's like I never liked you anyway it's really kicked off yeah so we're done with pop now I don't think we see them again right yeah that was the final plague I'm not mistaken there's a later boss fight that on one version you get Popples theme as the boss fight and on the other you get the standard like up-tempo you know something's happening cutscene yeah so the fawful fire at the end of the game on the US version you get the pop-up theme the Japanese version you get the I use the peach s core it's a bit easier - we've got these abuses thrifty goombahs they can't actually capture peach so if he's off screen first in amount of time she automatically gets caught and yeah like Laura said these a knee bruise don't actually go for peach like the [Music] oh they're noticing I'm beautiful she's got dodge yeah that cutscene that while the lasers are out they can still hit you in the cutscene I got some Merrill and you didn't notice you which is the important one and we're using barrel here too but we grab this switch you get a skip a whole nother sort of like puzzle where you sell in a different barrel one of the few times you actually use barrel as even if you don't use the intended barrel this area is actually pretty weird in terms of witches there's a glitch but each each foot where the final the ends of each area where peach talks to you they act really weird when you actually have a barrel summoned so certain effects can happen and they've only they're all like really inconsistent there's been fights triggered you can summon the map and even one time bug of the TAS or ended up summing the credits which would have been really crazy we could duplicate but it's never been [Music] right here is actually the fastest boss fight in the game couples no longer just a sleeping Snorlax totes the background are absolutely the trouble only has like 30 H Peters something like that on this first page you just don't do very much it's something really low [Music] goodbye yet normally he has the second phase where he'll like kind of split up into four mini trunk holes but who just completely bypassed that phase but the amount of damage that we can do that's why you small [Music] and so this is how we're normally supposed to get the bunny town this is what happens we need up up railings on your elevator these luigi's taking the elevator properly this time but breaking the office he knocked the princess off one last shopping trip for the game we might end up getting another if we don't have enough one option for safety but having tea right there's pretty good already so with that amount of mushrooms I believe we're doing 13 hit 30 damage per hit no sir yeah we can go for 14 if we decide to pick up a lot of extra on the way but 13 is fine for the rest of the game so I'm getting my clutches back here and of course we can tell by the dark music that something terrible's that we can beat castle down and guessing and it isn't just the fix along with UCSB now we're going to jokes on this the last boss fight forget about castles good music a thesis induction is actually pretty involved yeah well a whole lot to it like it's a big area you make some stupid you do make some very weird picture of Bowser there to fill in the gaps in what's happened in the story after the bean star fell and Bowser along with it thoughtful and Jack let up like barely clinging to life end up going to start us fields finding Bowser's unconscious body and fawful kind of put spec lettuce soul into Bowser so before you get to jokes and you're supposed to collect you're supposed to meet when is now bow Letta that's fungi town and she's kidnapped peach sort of a hostage for the bean star a gimmick of this area is going solo with each bro and fulfilling each area's requirements but with the glitches we can just skip through walls I'll open up the next area so she wants us to meet her at the top of jokes then there's one boss fight on the way and the boss fight is actually not for fawful or CAC Letta so we're not going to be doing any of that any of that whole cutscene as funny as it is to see Luigi in a dress but yeah we do need to do the one fight here I'm actually not sure what the lore is behind this bus why they're here so the girl with the wand is just yeah similar to the one in the woods that we did earlier [Music] it's telling you know oh it's even better Hoagy of that it's just a capacitive door all the way around and make soup [Music] moonwalk yeah yeah we're actually able to clip to the loading zone behind that door there's only a like a few pixels you can actually do it so it's the part in account while you're off screen this is the screen you would normally need to like get a used to charge a fire grant like Rose thing but again barrel clipping just clips to kind of go up any ledge Dora Dora yeah and she invites us 14 she wants to invite one of her friends you can actually choose one of four it really doesn't matter which one you choose but they like different colors right yeah this is very handsome man you don't actually have to defeat Jojo you get a little bit of bonus experience or but she only takes one damage a hit and I believe much badge does not bypass it's not really worth it killing her anyway similar to the the poeple and Ricky bites he runs away once you defeat the stronger enemy yeah I believe Mario would die in one hit on display to give it sort in dodgeball [Music] it is unlucky if Jojo comes back but this will be the final turn so it doesn't matter you'll get a free knock back charge here at least I feel like it feel like she stays for a turn on their turn now so while there is the cutscene as I mentioned with Li Jian address and completely fooling jack Letta and you go on to the repaired Bowser airship that whole section is fairly tedious there's no boss fight tied to it since we've already skipped ahead into the poeple and Berto fight so the actual fastest way to get back from this point of the game would just be to death work [Music] oh yes we did safety save during this run so it's important that instead of going to our last saved area I'm gonna save just that's right now just to make sure it doesn't do it because if we go back to our last named area it'll be way earlier we lose like an hour but you don't want to watch this game for another hour now we need some speed if they let us Marilia will wait this is a 100% run right Hopa actually is through 100% category but some people have have tried something of that Accord so these cavemen actually good enemies because they can hit both at the same time different Church up here Luigi actually has a lot of HP those little take 3 hits sorry you're too lucky so what the little failsafe this game has to kind of keep you from being stuck in an area especially if you don't have a lot of resources is when you die you have one of two options the first of which is to invert back to your last save it should be yeah and the second which is to return to be need castle town we normally don't save when we do actual rooms both so there's no last save option then we find out why the castle was playing for the very sad music and that Letta is not very happy that we duped her out of the paid star and is basically just blowing like blowing the kingdom up to try and get us to give it back to her so we need to stop this once and for all a swamp point out that deathwarp doesn't refer you to any SIV it just brings it teleports you right back so all the bosses are all still defeated and we're also at half HP right now we set this warp at the very beginning of the game and now it's finally coming into use because I'm ago now I get in yeah and up here at Stardust field it's gonna go for strike jump again pros of getting glitches later - so at the town here is the dinosaur that I mentioned a long time ago I believe his name is Bob Lanning dawn and he has the ability of flight so the kind of clue they give you is who could fly us all the way up to Bowser's Castle well we know one NPCs on our side fly I love just what you just did he's fine now yeah we actually want to keep this fin jump on Luigi for pretty much half of the castle this area although it's the last area it takes up just about 1/3 of the run it's definitely the most difficult part of the run as well this is one of many various incarnations of Bowser's Castle and you can actually use a glitch you skip up to the top left there and kind of do it in reverse and skip all the way to this boss but for one because they've saved they can't really do that we didn't actually reload saves yeah it's a yeah when you reload that one uses right but either which way there are suits there's percent other boss gears or what like back up a door want to make sure you don't go too high cuz you'll end up stop locking after this guy normally you have to complete a little puzzle step by them but you can actually touch him by barrel flipping biggie here if you train enter this fight normally without doing that whole lot of balance thing they just did what ends up happening is he plays this like really dumb minigame each each of the Koopa Kids have yes so right here I'm gonna grind a little bit for knock back like five or six it should be good since we had that her me fight earlier but we want to get knocked back before Roy in particular he's like a pretty tough enemy to dodge all of his attacks yeah I'm convinced this son dodgy war I've heard one frame as well but I don't believe it the reason I'm doing it on piggy is because he has a spinning attack which is really fast his buyer is also the average average li fast as well what you're saying is it's Schrodinger's frame we don't know if it exists yeah look in an emulator he's uh he is dead on the next chopper bros i think that should be good so i'll go ahead and kill him now it's fine if you don't get it by right historic slip prone actually doesn't normally go for the advanced command yeah i just died a bunch right well one more just for safety a lot of Koopalings today i just realize they have the smb3 race like [Music] and we're good no softlock today I've actually never softly yeah I was so confused why I would always happen to me until I figured out it was the height which you need to pay attention to you you can soft like a mystery to get the spikes he actually technically is in a barrel he did that so both bros can jump you got really good luck yeah kind of upset those magikoopas that they have like a 50% chance to spit fire at you and the fire chases you throughout the room it's technically possible to make it if they spit fire but it's too really annoying I hate so much yeah the magikoopas in the castle are they caused a lot of problems during this segment whoops doesn't their Island when that cutscene starts you actually cannot you know I'm being really good right now you cannot move so you want to make sure you have barrel on so you can do this jump right here [Music] few common attacks that you see between the Koopalings like they all have the fireball ability but they all do it slightly differently and a couple of them have their own like unique little attacks as well [Music] yeah they have like certain ones have ground pounds to anyone snaps been attacks they all have like two or three at least though I couldn't count to three luckily the the early Koopalings are all easy to dodge that's not a big deal and this is like a situation where that HP that they've been are slowly occurring over the run is kind of paying off because ideally you would never get hit but if you do get hit it's not you know a big time loss yeah I'm cold turkey right now give me a few boxes [Music] yep love the look on his face with a big full moon all the bosses have pretty funny it's like death spreads before they explode their work I agree it was wonderful for GBA game from 2003 this is a lot of expression the sprites like just how much characters put into like every little movement I'd say here's another magic Cooper that's the guarding in the area we don't actually even have high jump on us so we can't get there but he is annoying if you if you have to go through that area yeah he's doing a door frame clip right now these are kind of it just clips them all the way to the top of the map and you can switch right over we have a few of those in this area it's really the only way to consistently get past magikoopas a particular timing to that like so you want to move you want to move one pixel with the barrels that you get pushed out of bounds and Mario will be also out of bounds when you switch yeah you want to move far enough that Mario is out of balance when you swish for that so far but one of your bros look at teleporting this is the spot where we needed to keep or why we needed to keep spin jump on the whole time after this we can clear all right so this this minigame this brown from Lemmy it's like I'm in preparation for this run I've probably done like 30 or 40 runs and every time I've gotten the worst possible one yeah it can be it can be between two and six and it's not like if I were to save State or anything and take a different one it wouldn't actually be correct it's just straight that's Chozen at the time of the hit good game my streak is continuing as this one's a guaranteed hit and on this one I want to get knocked back advanced grind a little more to get it should it be tea bed Lumpy's a pretty fast on the ground on two especially doesn't clones yeah he doesn't have this offending attack unfortunately which is definitely the fastest these clones are much easier to tell apart than cat litter dr. breakouts you have knocked back advance we don't even need to do knock back anymore just leave it hahaha I'm gonna get spread as yeah a few view hmm nope yeah maybe the one in the back you can technically tell hahahaha what they are based on their attack yeah sometimes they think of really I was wrong as soon as I said this guy was easier hey you can clap for that so coming up next we're doing Ludwig and his room has the worst committee game ever yeah I think I might have spent like a few minutes on this Darius sometimes just they get such poor look they added that one up sounded the Japanese division by the way when are you getting from blocks more electric mice follow these guys are Megan Cooper's now so a very there's a very subtle reason why you kept a barrel all the way up here if you barrels and then get some water it's actually gonna use luigi's durability and - spits water out and that allows them to water that parent yeah this is the only area in the game where they required under Bros and we were stuck on this for a while but this is one of the areas where black just came in and figured out what to do so that's really nice good luck it's like the jump rope yeah I should be playing this except first they slowed this down to Jeff I'm not sure does seem lower to me I don't play this far in English very much yeah this is the first fight where I'll use knock-back advance I want to go for two turns knock back advance is technically an infinite attack whoops but uh it's faster based on what the attacked it's also pretty hard yep and then the next shopper grows yep the next Javed rose he should be dead think that attack is a goat as many times he can properly input the attack which i think is a three frame windows name as like super mario RPG super jump yeah it gets down to a three frame window but the problem with it is the game doesn't tell you when you're done something good again later games wait but uh they have to count and know how much damage they've done and know how much help the boss is supposed to begin with and how much they have remaining Saur gets the pleasure of fighting the two most annoying bosses on the whole run the first one is coming up right now which is Roy I get the four most annoying boss I've been at the gimmick with the Koopalings that come up now as they have a time limit which if you fail to kill them in the time limit you just lose I don't know if anyone has ever actually died to them because it's thinking about doing it on purpose yeah I miss the bee drone it's a non-issue I'm not even in a speedrun even in casual play it's like it hey hey you can get this far in the game you can deal with the good fling it's like they'll either kill you with their attacks or you know I don't know if they really buff through a outfit Japanese 920 he's beefy his attacks are also faster than every other Koopaling so he has ground pounds fire and a shell attack you didn't get to see the shell attack because Ludwig didn't show it he's the other one that uses it but it's very hard to react to [Music] in a quick Mario one run through the middle of this [Music] and time but that really yeah unfortunately there's no way that we figured out to just flip over that fence but that's a pretty fun that he aim to do yeah you can't clip up here so you just get stuck yeah Roy could definitely cause a problem so saving here's good yeah I'll so I'm in it I might die funny thing about these blocks is you're supposed to technically hit him on the same frame but if you do they don't work bye I'm Luigi like different heights like you supposed to press the buttons at the same time but their heads and hit at the same time yet can be kind of funny you can just see people hit up like four times the rope perfectly that doesn't work [Music] so do you know like how many frames less it takes for Luigi to hit the blog no not exactly I'm sure it's probably like like so I'm gonna have her many pixels divided by two or something like that it's a big brain math that I am not capable yeah roya's 9220 oh here it is yeah dude nice hey but we have a lot of expert on the attack yep I think I think it has something to do with like the angle the fireball comes at similar to here damn kind of nice thing at least with this category and Rajas they don't have to depend on the chili pepper upgrade because they just do flat damage again there is the chili pepper item which increases your damage your strengths specifically but it's not needed in this category it is used a little bit in any person and then one also good thing about the battle system is that when one bro dies and they get healed their turn doesn't get skipped you get a bite after so even if Mario ends up getting fired over and over again capybaras it kind of messes with an order in general I think so then it makes like Luigi than Mario rather than harder than Luigi for all future turns real inoculations yeah that's surprising Roy definitely likes to torture me with gel attack yeah all right now that's played just play with us I mean you take what you get he ever came over except for the Death Worm we just count if it's on purpose this guy took the controller for me and died like 30 seconds later after all I did next Koopaling is Wendy inches a relief but it's not nearly as a frustrating as like week so right now is lauric still has barrel but um it's actually at the final barrel so he can't stopping it again after it once he breaks it so it's important that he sets his action plans and it's there in a way so he can still jump yeah I can technically summon one right here but it's not a different yeah and after purely careful yes this screen would normally require you to use a thunder hand to kind of like maneuver through the rolling pins there but just about everything else in this case yeah if I hit one of those rollers I lose my barrel completely F to go back to it's like a minute time loss and windy is actually so weak that it's not worth going for knock back advance so okay attacks are also very quick to so hope you just be chopper bros and jumping [Music] that attack actually if it hits you it has a chance to confuse Mario or Luigi I don't think we've seen really where we've been at least hit by many attacks that have secondary effects all things there's been a pretty good run two hours of blown fire on these three bosses left almost done it's like stork said earlier his uh his barrels actually gone for right now so we're gonna go back and get it real quick before we continue yeah necessary back [Music] we've got some time for a you still have like half a second left yeah there used to be like got really complicated yeah which I never wear just barely have enough time yeah we can clap for that one if he didn't miss it he would have had a reset the area and possibly get owned by another magic koopa so this saves cuz I can softlock in this upcoming trick yeah and also right before the foyer as I demonstrated in practice it turns out the game really doesn't like barrels on Mario especially for cutscenes if you enter with a Mario in front Mario Luigi still gets the barrel on him and but Mario turns out to be invincible during this cutscene so the buyer hits him but you can't actually break the barrel after yeah we built a couple yeah we were just stuck here Larry actually has a attack you might see it here now well he has a certain fire attack where you just want one of the rows to get hit by it because it [Music] and Larry should be dead on the next chopper Bruce very nice patterns from [Music] there we go I don't know why that always happen coming up next definitely the most annoying boss but also the most annoying enemy in the game yeah so just magic you can just hit me there's nothing I can do about it it's off to him yeah we'll get dropped right in front of that door yeah you either have to yes to be really far away and you can just go back in the door before the fire gets you or he doesn't get the door at all it's a quick safe here this fight coming up is awful bad casual play in yeah the way the turn order works is only Luigi can damage him and Luigi does only like 13 damage a hit so you need to you need to make sure you one shot in otherwise you have to keep continuing this cycle yeah he's also flying so you're knocked back advances this really stupid art the time and the time use completely different matter yet every other than enemy see like a 16-2 fight here depending on counter-attacks so if you'll need 3433 hips yes boss I got it would have preferred fossils but it's not a lot of people incompetent it's a fan favorite this is still this is still a good one - yes just kind of have Japanese words under level - are you okay actually oh I'm Luigi you only have to hit the head there like four times so it doesn't have to go all out in Java browser [Music] the one shot here [Music] as the plenty hit so 13 more that was 18 not really it's hard to count do at the same time of having to try the absolutely ridiculous nests that is trying to play the game two players one controller the game keep for Gameboy Advance games they can actually it'll read input from controller one and control or two so I believe marília will be playing as Mario and Sark will be playing as Luigi yeah yeah so all of the action commands in the bedroom or Millia will have and I have all the B action commands so that means we do knock back throws we're both playing at the same time it's very worthwhile save here it's less bad on any pastas because they do have the ability to kind of take a hit the second phase they will second phase in spite they will start with one of each of these so it's still very very difficult as they say with this game any completed run in this game is a good run because this bike is just this could be a pretty hard yeah so we submitted this is like not really knowing how it's gonna turn out we did a couple practice runs of this and could either go like really good and be really impressive or go really bad and be really funny or like anywhere between hope you're ready for that where are they at 14 not only we don't see that so I got all the t's he has all these that was me fine for this one because this space has only about 550 HP this attack unfortunately is very time-consuming actually I'm the Japanese version oh okay yeah I'm this enemy you both do you knock back advance but on the final face we'll make it a little longer and just a few of the any % bite which is much more difficult who wants to make it exciting [Music] you should be dead next tune so this is that kind of stinks it's 50/50 whether or not it will initially put on the boat target Mario or Luigi and that determines whether the counter-attack will do 13 damage or 1 damage so thankfully both times just picked Mario nicely be dead here we think it's over and what's this there's also a pretty funny video of a like crash that happens or something like that I forget exactly what happens but they level up ah yes ballad actually has like more HP than this and you're super leveled up have a ton of mushrooms [Music] actually run that all down and some really weird stuff Evans she swallowed us whole and now we're into Bowser's belly to fight back lettuce for this fight you really want to you want to take out the heart and the access to the heart you need to take out the left-right arms and that was you yeah I was like I think I think we're gonna go no healing so do it do it is when they get much more fun for all you guys they got it tells me after we get today yeah as the fight goes on the the harder her attacks will become to dodge and Sark and I are very well-versed in the English for fight but it turns out the Japanese fights a little bit different as we discovered a couple hours ago we both got baited I plan to flex by not jumping on that fire [Music] we're dead yeah I think we're good Oh we still got yeah the arms on Japanese as you get down to the lower house ranges are pretty unfair yeah I did you see it based on her eyes but she likes to mix you up later I believe that's how you died the last time you ran this yeah I think that's how we'd all of the time hey since we ended up missing the first chopper bros we're gonna take an extra cycle and that's unfortunate because he'll probably give us the hardest attack so hopefully we can dodge that one yep [Music] so now her HP is really low she'll give us she's in her final phase you know baby head under 300 I believe I don't think this is the mix-up Oh what's this that's a new one they're basically one hit away from death and Luigi has the problem of that extra lag before his animations so if Mario dies and kak Letta has an attack that light can hit Luigi it can basically be game over then in there they really need to be careful especially when whatever you call the the hell spawn attack taste the rainbow pace parade yeah done that three times [Music] all right I actually jump up because I want to save one more BP the one round of chopper boots right and that one's a hard one mother heard them it's true it's those hopefully this bills yeah dad brother hardest fight of the road they did it basically handy alright so that is not time time is gonna be when the final text box disappears in the final cutscene they have a little bit more gameplay to go yes we're doing it at this game we're doing this co-op too if Mario's leaving he's got the controls when we finally call time okay that's when you give it a this is this has been a heck of a run and I if I'm not mistaken I think this is the first deathless run of this game like other than the intentional death of course but like the first no unintended death actually don't do that first good that's me yeah so this whole sequence in 80% the time immediately gets percent to zero if you enter this room from the back and if you've reloaded a save so but it ends up actually storing a timer from a previous sequence which means at any percent that you can actually do this whole thing in Reverse properly so that's kind of the final bit of gameplay all that's really left is cutscenes so to enjoy a little bit as familiar sorry as Sorek just continues to annihilate as controllers a button let's double up nothing going on right now we get it you're good at chopper bruise Emilio and I are at the chopper bruise yeah this is your a but fashion I think yeah that's probably like one of the the better my marathon run glad it went really well to 38:32 great yeah that's a really good time so I guess quick shout outs all the
