alright y'all welcome asked to comment on channel so I'm pretty excited to do this video it's about the Canadian Mounties now being in the United States you get a lot of exposure to the Mounties through live television and whatnot so I'm not sure if you would have as much exposure or even know what the Canadian Mounties are if you're from Europe or what-have-you but basically it's like they're it's their police force but it's more of like they're federal police force so they're a little more high-speed I guess so I didn't know what they went through I didn't really look into the into exactly how you actually get into the Mounties but I've seen this video I've seen like about five minutes of it and it looks pretty serious it's more of like it seems like a military boot camp even so it looks pretty awesome I figured you guys would get a pretty solid kick out of it but yeah I'm excited to check it out in its entirety definitely cool I didn't know the Mounties did you know this much stuff so we'll get into it and I hope you guys enjoy it because it seems like a really awesome video yeah I'm talking about the military aspect you think Canadians are all nice but I guess that can be pretty mean I don't I don't really know I haven't met many Canadians they sort of get that that's stigmatism of them being really nice but these Mounties seem hardcore these cadets are training to become members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police we know as the Mounties boy uniform too but before they dawn the iconic scarlet tunic known as the red Serge all cadets have to graduate from red sir as 26 week training program which combines its tactical training with customs and traditions in Canadian history yes I think so I think they're like the Royal Mounties and cadets graduate from the Academy I'm not really sure where that royal ass egg comes in the officers serving across the country to training program 26 weeks that's that's that's double Marine Corps boot camp actually we're incredibly happy that you're finally sitting in these seats as members at 4:29 and we want you to be successful you have to do it for yourselves the application process which includes a polygraph test can take about eight months everybody took a year out of your life polygraphs can be pretty stressful we sometimes see cadets go home after 24 hours like that's a lie detector test the Phaedo not only a couple of weeks to get used to the routine give it at least a couple of weeks work harder what the requirements are for this comment that we actually verbally say stars like age and one now nervous industry we're out there to serve the Canadian public so if we create that type of environment we're hopeful that the cadets will remember and when they are out in their various communities that they will continue to work with the communities as they were trained training happens here actually Farah Navy Depot division located in Regina Saskatchewan about 100 miles north of the US border it's a region of Canada known as the Prairie where during our visit to Regina sustained what's a knife or to a very low temperature made it consistently feel about negative 25 degrees Fahrenheit the starting salary for a constable in the RCMP is about 53,000 dollars a year after three years it increases to about 86,000 applicants must be at least 19 years that's not bad until we locate anywhere in Canada 19 remote provinces like Yukon say none of it that real median Mounted Police as we know it today was founded in 1920 the Canadian Rockies legendary Mounties are the symbol of law and order in this back domain although they're called Mounties as he isn't a Mounted Police Force and horses are only used for ceremonial events we're not what you see in the movies from Hollywood people see the red jackets pointy hat there's a good thing I think that's what the RCMP is but we're police officers first and foremost and I think that's probably the biggest misconception the reality is policing back roads and small towns by yourself we are a police force that's the biggest message and it all starts here where most of the training is focused on mastering police procedure practiced in realistic scenarios where cadets play the roles of both the officer and the suspect that's always fun you can activate slowly during what not I didn't mean to not that type of person okay Rose I'm Saskatchewan marker when ready we're trying to prepare them for the realities of policing you have anything on you that could hurt me or you policing isn't an easy profession I like their facial hair looks pretty such professional honest physically and mentally prepared but they also have to have common sense they have to know their powers of arrest they have to know the law so it's a real combination of two things that need to happen all at once mainly female cadets trained together at DEP oh that's a big dude its defensive tactics training obviously in policing we don't choose our opponent with another make sure that that's really smart it's like next-level stuff really is how much is flying wrong that's awesome this scenario cadets attempt to subdue and aggressive assailant by handcuffs but it's not easy to make the scenario more challenge cadets are matched up with assailants who are bigger and stronger than they are objective is to try and grab the gun in Patong from the cadets duty belt Hey this is basically to allow the police officers to reassess the totality of that situation is really smart I don't know what normal police go through as far as training like that but that's pretty cool nobody dies in depo this is the place to make mistakes because when police officers make mistakes people get hurt some of the stuff they see and will see is not nice we need help he's got a great mustache physically and mentally being exposed to pepper spray is a common part of law enforcement training and it's no different in the RCMP brain slow-motion zone as hilarious they do 50 jumping jacks so we just want to get their heart rate up just to simulate as if they were in some sort of a physical altercation perhaps they then go into the actual chamber where it's been contaminated with pepper spray yeah you get a good appreciation for a pepper spray when you get actually when you actually get hit by kind of have fun getting OSHA sprayed honestly to another level freezing cold I feel like that would make it feel a little bit better they actually will help somewhat with numbing that pain of the pepper spray once they get back into a warmer environment okay here we go shooting see how they do this cadets fire between 800 and 900 rounds during their 65 hours of training he's got a malfunction probably 15 20 percent of the cadets that show up have some sort of firearms experience whether that's pistol shotgun rifle or hunting we're able to take someone with absolutely no pistol or firearms experience and make them quite good shooters and successful another malfunction so 25% is a service pistol Smith & Wesson 59 46 that is their pistol and it will follow them through their career until they so retire or move on to something else cool firearms is a very important skill set to have and if the day ever comes that you actually need to rely on your pistol to protect a human life it's going to be a situation where we hope that you're proficient and you're prepared for that day when it does come these versatile trainers are awesome cadets interact with a video English role players create a scenario that tests judgment how to de-escalate a threatening situation the judgment simulation room is also equipped with what's known as a shoot back cannon which fires projectiles at cadets that's really cool to shoot back at and they will remind them to use cards once or twice and then they quickly give you that covered they have some really really nice facilities that Ricky did go surprise has the peer test [Music] it's used to determine a cadets physical ability for duty the pair is the current job standard test that we use it's the measure of success for fitness and physical ability when cadets graduate from home so if that is unsuccessful apparent then they will not graduate from our program the cadets will run six laps of an obstacle course that includes running over a set of stairs twice in each lab as well as jumping over some lower hurdles and they're also tied in Scenario specific training like this exercise the objective is to load up a truck bed with various life-saving supplies I've seen something like this I think is with the Royal Marines by another Gurkhas do something similar this is Bailey she was my partner as a police dog I spent seven years on-road with her as a police dog when we were partners that's awesome she goes on what are called uniform runs it's all seemingly running with a dog handler pursuing a suspect or looking for a lost person we end up going over a lot of fences for chasing bad guys it's just the nature of how our work is to try and get a dog over a fence that our main concerns the safety of the dog we don't want the dog getting hurt chasing somebody and so there's certain ways to get the dogs over the fence they utilize her harness so what we usually do is give one person at the top and fence and on top that's a cute dog I hand the dog out to them when it's not attacking you or anything we're lucky with Bailey Bailey's very friendly and very easy to work around that's a really cool learning to show them how to be around the dog and what the dog looks like when it's actually working cadets have to pass a rigorous inspection of their barracks known in the RCMP as pits cadets lay out all components of their duty built on their beds that's it I don't know if you said I can't sacrifice their life for the Bell I don't think there's the calves decision Spurs will display in the drill hall hours practicing marching maneuvers looks like a very World War two officer like a German officer so then conditioning the mind simple commands you respond you see the threat you respond even though it looks very ceremonial in nature it's all connected back to doing police yeah it's sort of sort of a building discipline and attention to detail what happens if we have poor public perception dr. faith it's not about buttons and zippers and it's not about marching everything has a connection back to police attention to detail in your uniform translates to looking for what's missing looking for what might be evidence when you get out into the field drill practice culminates in a ceremony known as the sergeant majors parade every week there's a special guest in attendance a 28 year old man with special needs named Matthew he has come to the RCMP depot parade on Tuesdays for the past six years and it's his like ultimate thing this is what he looks most forward to is being able to come here and have this relationship that he's developed with awesome like they've just sort of taken him under their wing and he has his own uniform you know they made him an honorary cadet yeah I know that the US Marine Corps does like honorary Marines it's really cool it's good for the community too although the Mounties are known for their iconic scarlet tunic this is the uniform you'll actually see a modern Mountie wearing on duty the red Serge remains a defining characteristic of the RCMP used as the formal attire for ceremonial events the uniform comes together here we're a team of more than 20 tailors alter the uniforms to the specific measures I know Marine Corps boot camp that that's not a pleasant experience when you're getting fitted and whatnot that's cool though the week before graduation cadets attend what's known as the regimental dinner held and the officers mess it is a tradition that according to the RCMP media has not been allowed to attend before now it exposes them to the importance of our history reminds me of the Marine Corps balls that we've inherited from the British Army and the Canadian Army one seat at the table is left unoccupied under the memory of the more than 240 RCMP officers who have died in the line of duty it's really a culmination of that family piece that we talked about right from the beginning yeah it's a lot of similar traditions to what you'd see in the in the Marine Corps the organization that they're just developed [Music] before they graduate cadets take part in the oath ceremony this true 2/3 in French after taking the oath let's go let's remove the epaulets from their uniforms signifying that they're no longer cadets they're gay you gotta have something I guess they've become members of the Mounted Police they grow 2 inches and they look so proud and their families and their friends when they see them are so proud of what they've achieved Canadians trust the RCMP and have for very long yeah they have some pretty cool uniforms it's thought the holsters to make sure that you maintain yeah that was really cool hmm so like I know thinking about like the police you have the New York Police Department NYPD that's that's pretty much what I can sort of base this off of as far as like being steeped in tradition and whatnot so that's sort of my comparison but it's pretty cool how they have the the traditions and what now a lot again it's a lot of the stuff that I saw in the Marine Corps where like you really keeping those those traditions keeping the uniform generally the same over the years it's really cool it definitely adds a little bit of a pride especially when you're talking about like your prying your unit and your history and whatnot but this is a really awesome video I hope you guys enjoyed it if you did definitely feel free to hit that like button and if you have any experience with the Mounties or if you're in them yourself or you know anyone who's in them definitely let me know in the comments to comments section it's awesome to see what kind of stuff that y'all will actually put down there even unlike my email or Instagram or what have you I'm surprised that you know you have people who are related to all these people I'm doing reactions to people who who have fought in like certain battles and one night it's really awesome to hear from from you all about that so definitely keep that going I do I do appreciate that it's really awesome to read those but yeah I do hope you guys enjoyed the video definitely let me know if you think regardless but that's it for this video so I will see you all in the next one
