Not much fun to watch unless you really really hate Oscar. A great but aging fighter meeting a bona fide legend in his prime and getting shredded.

I still don't see an equivalent climb the way Pac did.

I mean, He was fighting at 130, then move up to 135 and had only one fight there. And was immediately challenged by Dela Hoya to fight him at 147.

The closest thing is probably Mikey moving up to fight Spence, but Mikey already had one fight at 140

Maybe Brook moving up to middleweight to fight Golovkin. But Brook has been fighting at welterweight since his debut.

Manny truly is special.

[Applause] atmosphere absolutely sensational here the MDM Gladys Tony man calls him in we both received your struts in the address room okay look if he goes right here is okay anything below that's low right here is okay and then where that's too low I want a good clean fight obey my commands at all times above all protect yourself at all times let's go all right so it's set to go day and I don't know about Juba there's no place in the world I'd rather be than right here right now goosebumps that's it electricity and you know Manny Pacquiao you're always expecting him to come flying out there and throwing something huge let's see if that's what he does here against Oscar and a lot of people think that's what Oscar has to do to is come out real fast and fight every minute of every round himself will there be any filling up process and when they go right to it Oscar starts to test with the right hand upstairs [Applause] and he continues the circle to his left nobody's committed to anything hard just yet you watch Oscar for the right hand lead down the chute against Manny southpaw style as Pacquiao woopsy Moss on the double left hook and Oscar De La Hoya is a great left took artist to the bottom and on the brakes watch the uppercuts off the hands of De La Hoya Oscar knows how to fight south pause Manny tries to touch him up with the jab if you can see the reach this should never did [Music] and the cheers go up a battle between the Filipinos and the Mexicans right here in the United States Mosca hasn't Lindon anything significant here in the first round so in the first minute he hasn't just thrown Carson to win and they man he feel his call yet but Asti can set up that left in we've got abrasion of the nose of Oscar De La Hoya already off the glass the left side of the body of Manny downstairs many has a tendency to bounce and skip it if he throws that left hand down the middle he can get rough too had time to the left hand down the middle of it right now he's concentrating on positioning de and De La Hoya with the right hand glued to his chin expecting Pacquiao to throw the big straight left hand down the middle and it's been tried a couple times in delahoy has managed to smother those shots Manny touches him up with E is jab that time there's a left hand lead the Manny which is his power shot to the southpaw two minutes gone De La Hoya is not winning the first round at this point my opinion that looks a little roughed up around the nose area to some good sneaky shots getting cleared by Pacquiao now Oscar opens up for the first time pitches Pacquiao as fat Gail was bent over you know part of the philosophy for smaller guys is sometimes to make yourself smaller like would I get used to doing it Pacquiao had been way down when Austin comes in as he showed that time it could be a difficult angle for Oscar Oscar short with his punches and spending the fact of the and there's Pacquiao darting back out of trouble and then into the punching range and his speed has probably been a little bit of a surprise for Oscar so far and it's significantly different in his speed musket short with the jab again last few seconds of the round gosh the tribes open up but not significantly and even Sabella in the first round I give that the Pacquiao now remember the official judges of Emily bird of Las Vegas and Dave Moretti of Las Vegas an old friend the Hall of Fame referee and the judge Stanley Cristobal in South Africa and Stan ni aeg see eye to eye and scoring we use it right together as we came up together years ago [Applause] and knowing no question I must erecto Rancho yeah president Hargis [Applause] [Music] we're adapting gap Aviva Premiership alan garkel hicieron moment and not anything and here's that we are on the right side his stream good straight left hand getting through then ducking down to miss the counter from oscar de la hoya pasta was there almost a little awkward with some of his punches in the first round here we go round number two let's see if he tries to put some pressure on Manny Pacquiao now you heard Freddie Road safe soon as you feel those webs get off there and he gets off by hitting Oscar Oscar De La Hoya look tight in the opening round he looks tight right now at old Manny to the right hand [Applause] you know Oscar was a natural solid south console he's gets considerable power with his left hand but he hasn't been able to landed yet man he's landed too heavy of blows and will grow to this point with his side beside dip so far things are working from Annie Pacquiao is often can't touch him at the foot in the hand speed now watch when De La Hoya moves to his left to cut off the ring that is when Pacquiao charges him he will not let the ring be cut off Janoskians to look watch and see the Pacquiao then decides after time to charge and then had gone in the second round so far Manny Pacquiao looks like he's out boxing nos Kadena headed to my way of thinking Oscar missing with the jab jab jab so that stiff left hand and jab taking it to the head of Manny and Manny bobbing weaving deck ducting is not being hit by the jab at all Austin's better get a piece of him if I'm him I gotta step up the inside tension him in the chest you gotta get a piece of it let's start there you get inside we watch the right-hand lead against Pacquiao the Pacquiao is really quick with his feet Oscar fighting a little on the flat-footed side mini right up in his goals it's magic so far for Pacquiao is ability to go in and out and in spite of the fact that Oscar had Angelo Dundee that always say hit don't get hit in the mouth in and out and that's exactly the way Manny Pacquiao is fighting right now there's an Africa well he is sharpshooting here and he's showing extraordinary patience it lands his best shot then he gets out I'm surprised at Oscar didn't force to fight a little bit more here in the early going I really thought he'd try to test his power shots against this guy became catch up a tough guy he cannot get inside and work that body and set up the rest of the fight well he can't hit him with the jab seemingly and without being able to touch him up with the jab you could have a difficult time to the right in course one big punch of the left hook could change the course of this fight in a minute in a second it could that was a left hook that gets through that it was with an outstretched hand [Applause] the Pacquiao's movement is the difference in this fighting that's extraordinary [Applause] well the quicker pound-for-pound guy is one two and nine scoresheet I'm doing a great job that's why hedonic and Renata sabato Veronica mimasaka Delonte she was terrible [Applause] you know because in business in tactical Jeremy [Applause] make it hard to find you and he's taking chances he's going to make mistakes one shot behind UPS I know the directions by Freddie Roach in and out side to side that's exactly what he's doing and he's executing the fight plan toward T this is round 3 the Colonel Bob shared on the day Bontempo MGM Grand Garden Arena facing you Manny Pacquiao to the left of your screen Oscar De La Hoya De La Hoya out punched in the power department to the once so far by Pacquiao who has shown infinite quickness the good movement on the angles and then delivered the payload after he's made Oscar De La Hoya miss it you see some tentative quality to these shots by Oscar De La Hoya they're coming up a little short because of the speed of Pacquiao that gal has landed some power upstairs to Austin because he's swollen around the eyes on the cheeks and his Jeff you know really doesn't seem to have that kind of power and as I say that he finally is able to get the jab to the face of Manny Pacquiao with just about a minute gone here in round three this has been the best minute of the fight for De La Hoya but he really has capitalized on it any back here still working trying to get in and out looking for opportunity to attack and this is when Pacquiao is in front of De La Hoya and he's trying now to cash in the lead right hand is there for him he's trying to go through the Pacquiao jab and get that right hand in and he started too late off with it now Austin loaded up a couple of shots and both would take it on the back of the gloves on Manny Pacquiao now then it shows where Oscar De La Hoya's fight plan is headed straight left hand down the middle step the head bag of often Oscar hasn't done enough to win the first two minutes of this round although he's had a better round three than the first [Applause] how many rounds can get out back you had to put in the bank though 12-round fight if you allow three then you would have to win almost you have to win seven of the next nine that's how big a three nothing leaders 45 seconds ago in the third round and the harder shots have been Devil Hoya's in this round Pacquiao have landed more body shot in left side of the ribcage of Moscow musk is still very flat-footed that kills down and his heels a little bit more but he's picking his shots nice headboard you're right dave is telling him with the right hand then let that right hand lie down the minute we shorten that up didn't trust it I mean he can't be afraid of the power of this guy I'll be around remember I mean I'm leaning towards Oscar De La Hoya for that round you could give it to him and that looks like that Michael is a split because Pacquiao had a lot of good body shots in the last minute yes [Applause] do you know Zuma mine yes got to remember that there one day that you know it could go either way in the judges score Chiefs because if people judge it for Pacquiao he's gonna hit me to leave with rounds hospitalized it's pretty lead-out use your face a little bit more encounter punks hey there's Manny Pacquiao the straight leaping left hand look at that off the move and how do you get that shot through a lead shot on Oscar De La Hoya Freddie the quickness he poises gets through close the shot that was unexpected ana vasca can't land the the jab because of the moment is what Freddie Roach said true is oscar having trouble getting off so it's something you got a question at this stage right now we don't know there's a lot of fight left this is Round four Austin to the right Manny Pacquiao with us back to you MGM Grand Garden Arena t obvious hand speed is just that it's so obvious [Applause] [Music] they say it's for the right hand down the middle of the southpaw converse and speaking the southpaw does the same thing left hand power shot down the middle and he got us hostas left jab is not accurate he hasn't been able to plant the right hand and he's paid a price every time he stops Pacquiao circles Oscar De La Hoya stops and that's what Pacquiao hits it hits him off the stop and with Pacquiao moving like this casino that's been hard for delahoy to locate that lead right hand he wants and already different from the steam he forms fight with stimulus fight the fight of his life he couldn't manage to win any rounds on many runs if any against Oscar the Manny Pacquiao certainly wall to hold and just getting bolder I see sets up everything with good movement outside and then comes charging delahoy inside and so forth it is a beautiful fight quiet Manny Pacquiao may be seeing the right hand of Oscar meaning that maybe Freddie's right to that I was not able to get it off of the you know the the sharpness anyone's good because it seems like every time he throws a right hand man he's dipping and making even when he lands is the right hand left on the jaw of De La Hoya Pacquiao is getting bolder coming toward lraa and getting more into those shots see Oscars Oscars trying to step up going to the javelin tentative it is there as he just puts it out right hand misses him man he just carries it up all those jabs about five or six of nothing landed and that's just a little head movement of Manny now he comes in unleashes an assault to the body nothing powerful but this is in terms of power Oscar De La Hoya's already did touched up more by Manny Pacquiao that he was against Floyd Mayweather for the whole fight Pacquiao is doing more in my opinion than Mayweather did the fight may want to get can't get ahold of them caught him with the uppercut [Applause] Manny Pacquiao to four to one ratio in power parks is this round for Pacquiao and this is a defining ground in the fight good body shot a little bits of the board twenty weeks right on top and says people my fanny but you'd expect that with a guy that's some four inches taller that's the pack around anyway is that's how you pick Pacquiao round and remember it's not definitive that De La Hoya gets round straight I put it down because I thought some judges would but it's not definitive did it get my thyroid [Applause] hm yeah [Applause] [Laughter] but don't just walk in working me on the thing that no you can't handle your speed time she's a game plan he can't hinder speed and he has a baby and because of that Pacquiao out punching De La Hoya almost three to one of the power department 60% lands and when you get up and you keep that percentage that's when fights get stopped all right this is round number five De La Hoya is gonna have to do something sensational here and then straight right hand clown a piece of manly that time and he's gonna open up he's gonna put his ears back throw caution to the wind and try to start nailing this guy with some power shot so mainly gonna walk away with this thing I'm boxing him Freddie Roach said just make sure you have the head movement coming in and coming out and if Freddie is the type of guy that gives one or two instructions to his fighter in between rounds and Manny is a coachable guy and follows the Freddie says now from the moment we saw him entering the building Oscar De La Hoya has not been comfortable not comfortable in the ring not comfortable before the fight not comfortable in his dressing room those smiles and that's not really his nature oh I understand what it's like on fight night for professional prizefighter that that's the way he gets himself ready to fight it's all business in the ring and it's a baby right now he's the speed of Pacquiao in the fifth round of the fight [Applause] ostriches pouring with the gym not really stepping up internet trolling the left hand to the body with any viciousness at all punches he thrown there in the power there's a guy that's come up from 106 and he's a legitimate Walter a power puncher he'll actually heavier reaction has cool bony leaps the third man and he hasn't had to do much because these guys are not clinching their boxing and fighting Manny Pacquiao is considered a fighter as the closer a boxer but what a boxing match is putting on tonight he has put terrific moving up meet time Oscar De La Hoya has not looked good coming down this is not a comfortable weight test for him tonight and he is just he is just not the same Oscar De La Hoya we've seen in terms of the fire and Manny Pacquiao is capitalizing on it to this point Pacquiao with two minutes gone here in the fifth round is certainly win in the fifth round and he may want every round I gave the La Jolla the third round but it was very close and we pointed out at the time that there's some judges it could have gone the other way in that one so often finally plants our right hand the body then upstairs and now he's finally start sitting Manny and all that seem to do is get an adrenaline ball Kibaki oh but that's all lost cause under the entire fifth round of this fight when do you see him eat so many Jets I've never seen him eat so many yo his down look up a lot of them from Pacquiao in this fight in losing efforts to Bernard Hopkins to Mayweather twice the Shane Mosley and Felix Trinidad who didn't look this bad another [ __ ] around goes in the books for me [Applause] [Applause] I'm just settled in don't get lazy and play so focus in the middle of the Ring so you just one of the things in the middle of the Ring oh it's it Freddie continues thing don't get caught up against the ropes you feel you bag touching the ropes get out of it and don't get overconfident with this guy stay focused Freddie Roach knows exactly what Oscar condoned he knows exactly what his man been doing this is Round six MGM Grand Garden Arena Las Vegas Nevada the Colonel Bob Sheridan II with Dave Bontempo Manny Pacquiao and red to the right of your screen with the red shoes on Oscar De La Hoya must open up and he start letting some power cuts or he's going to be out boxing this entire fight by Manny Pacquiao most people thought they know he would knock this guy out a lot of people thought inside of six or seven rounds and patio is just totally out boxing and if the fight plan engineered by Freddie Roach is what Peggy is trying to do he's keeping off the right in the city of the ring Austin is not William sailfin and pushing this guy back and making him back up hey who he's fighting with a tentative nature he's aiming his punches he's guiding his punches he just has to let it go and sometimes you go in there and the other guy will just be faster than you a little bit stronger than you and Oscar De La Hoya will have to just throw caution to the wind because the scorecards pretty soon not going to be issues for him Oscar's left by closing up with that jab a leaf left hand pointed and now here he tries his changeup Manny nothing that he throws lives and many touches enough Mosca had his left hook that time blocked in the elbow by Pacquiao so nothing really working for us even when he opens up Pacquiao is landing more shots and there's Pacquiao with two and then the left hand down the middle and we're used to Oscar De La Hoya standing and taking his shot when the guy comes out him cutting him off with the right hand cutting him off with the left hook but tonight the speed of Pacquiao on the inside continually disrupts the momentum and the rhythm for Oscar De La Hoya and Freddie won't allow Freddie Roach that is run allow packet allow himself to get caught and up against the ropes on Oscar can pin him down and look at the pace sheets here if Pacquiao three nice shots you load up again three nice shots you load up again you don't lunch you don't go for what's not there the right hand lead for Oscar De La Hoya we've seen it on a handful of occasions tonight and that's all this is the night that Oscar gets old so far the answer would be yes [Applause] they you know people talk about the subclause style of Manny Pacquiao but he's known as fighting southpaw he handled Floyd Mayweather with better ease and he's in on this guy he's been a split second behind and then the quick feet of Pacquiao have put him at good angles where he can launch an attack probably the most surprising part of this fight is how Pacquiao has maintained his speed and stalls to power 147 and anymore bounces right bounces left doesn't let De La Jolla and the bell sounds in the six round another [ __ ] around well right now as I'm looking my Squishy busca de la hoya almost needs a knockout at least knock him down a couple of times to win this fight and it's just a distant consideration for him right now [Applause] a cigar minnows people parody William is young for gamma 4004 converters [Music] [Applause] city if you keep it vague he boxing and turning them here's Pacquiao double jab straight left hand to there you just don't see Oscar De La Hoya taking three punch combinations like that in his Pacquiao's night enough to go across the way sitting on his stool if someone's like a beaten fighter well his corner said come on you got to take the fight to him and start landing some right hands throw some right hands anyway you know he knows he knows it but whether you get the body to do that will they take advantage of those split second opportunities is a different story you know he threw the right hand that time with kind of a thumb out and leave up that's not the way you throw a power shot with your right hand thank you continues to bounce around I put his toes and he's been this way you know if his fight plan was to fight the first minute of the first round and then the second minute then the third minute he's got exactly that and everything around which is what he said he had to do and when Freddie Rhodes said he had to do to beat De La Hoya and then the other thing that we talked about is that he had to do enough in the power department to make an impact and he has he is out fought Oscar De La Hoya in the power department by a ratio of about three to one and then Freddie Roach also telling Pacquiao don't lose concentration then allow this guy to sneak back into this fight Austin him tentative with the left hand so what his back head though he cracks him with the right hand he's working on that left thigh of Austin Dillon has it almost shot Oscar not getting off right hands and leg it looks like he's on the Shelf right now and this has been the fight since the beginning packy ass powered bothering Oscar De La Hoya and Pacquiao gets off though we don't see Villa Hoya on the ropes like this and it was the corner of thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] we can't get off these drugs here he should be sliding down the having this guy know [Applause] Busta's heels are heavy he's heavy the fire continues to put the French runner [Applause] [Music] really slowly [Laughter] [Music] [Applause] [Music] ready to go Oscar De La Hoya and in a living thank you pouring the pressure on and they left by his really closing up this has been a great round effect yeah and there will be a big decision made in Oscar De La Hoya's corner both about the eye and about his presence in this part he needs to step up inside of ten seconds ago in the seventh round if there's another round like this this flight will be over while only ghost we can take another round like forty-two to six power punches to pack brown hair do I wanna keep on look at that I is the Thursday in Ward 7 [Applause] then fight back [Applause] [Music] stop it spike to be broke they will be taking a real close look at stopping this when look at this action Pacquiao we shot it when do you see Oscar De La Hoya stand back and take stuff like this and yeah because of his legacy what he's done they're letting him have another round that he has to take advantage of it now or there may not be another one Allen talked about history in the making impact comparing in this guide of the great Henry Armstrong won three world titles in three different classifications just the fact that Manny Pacquiao has come up to world Titans of two different classifications fighting this one didn't allow it's not a world title fight to be Tuscan de la hoya the way he's doing it would be significant Nevada that barely stopped at 135 on the way up here and then jumped to more and he's making himself look as good at 1:47 as he's been anywhere Oscar hasn't been able to get off he hasn't been acted because of the movement of Pacquiao Pacquiao has been on his clothes the entire fight and patios had more power than Oscar I mean it's been all Manny Pacquiao tonight we have never seen Oscar De La Hoya and as tentative a position throughout as he's been here and he has to try and summon one last ounce of something because he needs it now if Pacquiao still stands and slugs in him after getting hit remember that Oscar De La Hoya has been a great champion and one big hand could change the course of this but it's a stretch right now in the eighth round as he continues to get out pucks by Manny Pacquiao Oscar needs to do something sensational and he's got to do it with tremendous power and he's gonna pull this fight out now the great fighters can do it he certainly has been a great fighter throughout his career let's see if there's one more miraculous move on Oscar as I say that pack cap cause the pressure on [Applause] [Music] of Oscar De La Hoya [Music] [Applause] mas has got to get out of the car pretty toe mini this slide down the rope to get out of it he's all fight no place to fight this game he spent in northern has to out of 50 out of being shell-shocked the chant goes up Manny Manny is the crowd turns in favor of Pacquiao the left thigh of Oscar De La Hoya has practically shut and now he's working on the right eye of the lawyer nobody's been down De La Hoya has been shaken on a couple of occasions especially in the last round in the first two minutes and some of this around has been Pacquiao on boxing again forcing De La Hoya back to the ropes feigning is everything that Freddie Roach has told him to do he's executed and we've seen De La Hoya again on the ropes with the sanctuary no place to win a fight and look at that this is Freddie told me walked right back to the senator and now this is one thing that again the corner of a packet they don't want him to hotdog it finish this guy up again don't mess with this guy and the power structure right downstairs and look at Pacquiao [Applause] of the a crown trying to stop busted in Owen right but Owens well if we were wrong in the third that's slightly giving that the devil whale Billy Pacquiao's when every other item I can they better you have a headache Oscar headache are you dizzy you have a headache okay listen listen this is no thang this if you keep taking punches I'm stopping the fight okay you heard Tony Lee say if you keep on sneaking punches I'm going to stop the plate so I would say that you might be seeing the last round in the career of Oscar De La Hoya [Music] and the point where the force [Music] well Tony weeks flat-out said him not to take it in Moorhead boats he knows he's 35 in pins it's all over the tightest stuff it's all over De La Hoya can't answer the phone for the there goes a technical knockout victory at the 8th for Manny Pacquiao what upset a huge upset a tremendous victory to Manny Pacquiao now on the horizon a huge payday probably the string probably in the UK probably against Ricky Hatton who just happened to be here Manny Pacquiao executing his fight plan beautifully the side-to-side movement darting in and out these guys we're not on the same level tonight this is this fine a performance we've ever seen from Manny Pacquiao see them overcome adversity we've seen him come back to the tough situations because this was dominance the beginning of the front pretty rope should somebody said from the get-go that offski taking off anymore and certainly looked that way from me from the very opening down of this fight get off you know long ago you got to give the credit to the speed and the fight plan that he is back he'll had the been aware but devil whale intended it from the get-go did when he walked in the building yeah you said he didn't look comfortable at the weigh-in walking in the building in the dressing room and certainly not the ring and surprises he didn't put on the extra weight to be a bigger fighter where he'd be more natural he was actually the smaller fighter in here when he got in the ring tonight it just wasn't there for I'd like to know who in the corner besides off himself or somebody else and we probably won't know how to been a ringside inspector because Oscar De La Hoya had acknowledged to Tony weeks that that he would stop it in the next round if there was trouble and then a ringside inspector went in there right after that and maybe they just had another opinion that okay let's not waffle on this let's also remember 20 weeks was Charolais with the amp when levander Johnson played in his fight he said there's mine too oh well Tony had told me if you take any more headshots I'm gonna stop it maybe us too just decided you know it's not going my way maybe it is time you know we talked about he doesn't know when to retire I think it's time yeah I know he doesn't want to go out with a performance like this but there was the inspectors talking to Oscar a consensus that he came right over and congratulated Manny Pacquiao you can't remember a time when Oscar De La Hoya got hit so much and you can't live your time with Manny Pacquiao got hit so little fella Pacquiao his last two fights has been nothing short of sensational I mean he beat a terrific dignity as his official division here at the MGM Grand of Las Vegas we turned a page in boxing history as this fight comes to an end the official time at the end of round 8 referee Tony weeks caused a halt to the bout the winner by TKO victory and still the number one pound for pound fighter in the world the fighting money [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yeah you you
