in red trunks tonight as which mentioned earlier eerie how the circumstances are now flip flop but will the results be the same remains to be seen ready pacquiao a southpaw of course [Applause] first surprise is that pacquiao has not come out to try to overwhelm barrera in the opening seconds i was just about to say that i uh i'm very surprised by that he looks a little dry it might take a round or two for manny to really warm up but we know what that uh what happens there with the andrade fight earlier attempt to box attempt to turn pacquiao when he can throw some angles on him you know the storm is going to be coming at some point to be ready for it but this is the pace i think pereira would love oh vera would love this place and this is where he's got the legitimate shots to try to counter punch him out box i'm sure freddie roach is going to have a difference of opinion and impact it does a great job of listening to the game plan [Applause] by the way the odds on this fight steadily rose this last week in las vegas they opened a plus 260. so about two and a half to one in favor of pacquiao by fight time today they were three minus 360 over three and a half to one in favor of pacquiao well there's a lot of influence from the islands team coming here to bet on their guy late in the week we're showing good hand speed early good upper body movement two side to side with his uh bending at the waist when you see that first from pacquiao which you know [Applause] [Music] [Applause] that's just the first round and the one thing that we didn't expect to feel like first time yeah i thought manny would come right across and take a turn but they gotta have a lot of respect for marco antonio guerrero anybody said he's one of the greatest ever nice feel out first round for both gentlemen [Music] [Applause] all right good job a little busier with the jab okay and the fancy working good okay now you see how he's reaching for the fans all right open them up with the face you hear me [Applause] was a little more cautious than many expected that was pacquiao's one little flurry of the of the round round was fought at a i guess you'd call it a leisurely pace that was certainly guerrero's pace round two freddie roach asking manny to keep up the faints getting him to drop his hands a little successful pacquiao already starting off a little busier yeah he's putting the pressure on as much as you can right now he doesn't have but really one speed big left hand [Applause] they've been working on his right hand a lot in camp what he's been saying to get it as effective as his left hand which wow [Applause] he would drag [Applause] on those mistakes i have to wonder what it must be like for for manny pacquiao to be so beloved and almost godlike in his country have to carry that weight of all his people every time he steps into the ring pereira is a great champion mexico but there's many many many great fighters from mexico that have gone through the years he's just a long list of the next ones in line but manny's something special in the philippines he has actually risen the whole level of boxing in the philippines for that more people are getting involved more kids are getting involved and other champions are coming up and there's a lot of talented fighters over there we've seen one tonight they they almost pitched the shutout the philippines versus mexico [Applause] uh [Applause] like you said [Applause] [Music] [Applause] don't stand in front of this guy he'll blow you out keep circling to his left keeps holding it looks like he took a pose out of the first night got to stay away from that left hand going to the left look at him go to the left back out just missing five seconds round two crowds pacquiao may have won the last 15 seconds but i thought [Applause] [Applause] okay [Applause] let's take a look at the action in round number two there's that good left hand from barrera knocked to pacquiao off balance with it and followed it right up with a jab nice counters by barrero three right hooks he's doing a good job with the jab going to his left all night [Applause] into the third round it could easily be varera two rounds to pacquiao's and i've given that pereira both of the first two rounds i have to look around ringside some of the other riders here have given the first round i got pereira with the first two rounds as well well three scheduled tough pacquiao pressed up the attack a little bit perez obvious game plan is to keep grip upper body movement stay away from the big left hand don't make a mistake and counter punch just drag that back leg behind him bring pacquiao in and try to meet him with something on the way in [Applause] oh and if herrera is able to pull off the upset the conspiracies with the rise a lot of a great shot by the wrong a lot of thought going in about roach going over the philippines and it seemed to be an ego thing for pacquiao because roach went to puerto rico for de la hoya with his fight against mayweather but the distractions were not even comparable to the two fighters [Applause] herrera's hand speed is excellent i can still remember broadcasting pereira's first title fight it was in anaheim california against daniel jimenez which he won that was 1995 guys 1995 he won the world championship and here he is in this fight tonight still fighting at this kind of level it's unbelievable he's a true legend that didn't hurt that usually means it did yeah he lied wow herrera has the punches downstairs a little bit tony he's going to step in herrera is going to frustrate him if you can you got to remember the technician in the ring general that marco antonio vera has been over the years he's had the ball he can ball he has to box he boxes he knows what he wants to do and he's very very methodical about it could be a matter of just manny pacquiao's too good before the light's all said and done and so far he's been frustrated now man he's talking to marco i don't know what he said well he came out from the very beginning fall from the opening seconds with a strangely hesitant style tonight which i'm very unaccustomed to seeing him fight and it doesn't bode well for him pacquiao's effective when he overwhelms you with his punches when he when he uses his speed to take advantage of you and when he just hits you so many times so hard it takes it totally out of your game plan and he's trying to turn it into a chess match with pereira and guerrero is winning that match at the moment [Applause] just the movement is moving the little right hand got in but not very effective oops do you see him change his stroke convincing there guerrero went up and it went down looking really good on his toes very effective with his jab marco's getting a little bold here now take a look at him he's getting a little confident this quarter is throwing so much water in the ring we're going to have foreign [Applause] keep stepping to your right all right don't follow him yeah right okay don't follow him cut that off for me okay with some of the action it was very good action in that round and uh once again had a very good round he landed what i thought were his first significant punches that really had some meaty kind of power behind them you know um just seeing manny pacquiao the corner of being familiar with his fights he's doing the sign of the cross a lot more than more than usual as well freddie good advice tony don't follow him because that's what marco wants you to do so keep going there you go go to your right force him back the other way [Applause] wants to pick it up you can see it right now look at him look at the look in his face and look he's coming faster he's coming much faster and he's starting to punch faster that's what he needs to do look for pacquiao to try to bring it right now [Music] because he needs a different tempo in this fight and yet i don't know if he's noticed but yet another sign of the cross i noticed that but is barrera gonna let him do it but at least it's during the fight unlike when frank bruno fought mike tyson and he signed himself about 20 times before the fight as he was coming down the aisle doing the introduction thank y'all getting a little spring in that step looks like he's going to let his hands a little bit more that's his style he just caught him to the left he's doing what pacquiao wants him to do i'm not gonna fight him too oh yeah he's not going to sit there and box all night oh no bro definitely a slug and when you catch him he's one to answer quickly [Applause] a strong air of confidence about it because it's hard to tell if he's always the same after that third round coming out seem to be emboldened a little bit and man he's trying to step on the accelerator problem is canelo's defense has been exceptional and his movement's been great his defense has been exceptional but that was a good [Applause] where he's really having trouble finding him in the first three rounds but again the higher volume of punches are going to lead to some success from that and it's to manny's advantage to turn it into a slugfest [Applause] it's a good referee in there tony weeks i've seen him in some very difficult fights to work and he's usually right on top of it manny up a little bit he was the referee and the what many of us feel is the greatest fight ever diego corrales and jose luis castillo had to deal with all of that what was going on that night that one will never forget that was the year of the great fight [Applause] [Applause] that is not his wife no the righteous that is not his wife but she is also cute yes [Music] his brother is now the chief trainer jorge barrera who also was a pro boxer five to 12 rounds ripping by in this fight demarco antonio barrera keep up the pace with all the rounds he has in his career continue to use the movement continue to stay away from harm while countering manny pacquiao [Applause] really started to turn it on in the last round i'm sorry but he needs to keep it up and even take it up yet another match right here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] yeah man he's putting power into his shot today after taking a shot responding quickly and being affected with the shot himself [Music] [Applause] actually nodded an acknowledgement to him anytime you see manny hit his gloves together you know he got caught and he commends a guy for getting for uh he's catching him with a good shot [Applause] it's not like we haven't seen the pac-man on the canvas before guys [Applause] so he can do things and leave himself open it's been a cleanly fought fight there was some what good right he's trying to do his work good answer now they're getting it on guerrero trying to pick more open spots right there and just like i was telling you earlier he's the best at coming back right after getting caught i think he got the better of that exchange he gets it gets him mad like [Applause] he's going to revert to what he was in his early days that's right the warrior comes out but michael antonio pereira is a guy who's been able to reinvent himself successfully on a couple of occasions in his career that big left hook had landed manny would have certainly been staggered this is what man he wants guerrero has given [Applause] pacquiao getting into a good exchange on the balls of his feet in and out darting and then he's getting into it wow is this better great round tough round to score taking a look at the action from the round pacquiao landed the big shot and then pereira came firing right back and at a couple of times each each guy seemed to be a little bit dinged i thought by the other that was to the top of the head to make you a little bit dizzy when you get up there hit up there [Applause] let's go okay fasten your seat belts folks that was fun we got another round coming both fighters are awake both are alert round six i'll tell you what the speed is uh from both fighters i don't think marco slowed down that much you've seen any more than i have rich over the years but his hands be tonight's exit yeah he looks like he's completely ready for this fight well prepared he's got a great game plan i've got him winning gentlemen i got to tell you [Applause] again i'm checking around ringside to see some of the other scores they have pacquiao in front so who knows the first couple of rounds of course not much was going on so they were very close could have gone either way well you know i really couldn't give a house fighter status to either guy no this just that doesn't exist in this fight well you can't because the crowd is evenly split you've got one promoter bob aaron promotes pacquiao one promoter oscar de la hoya promotes the beret oh good combination from manny he's got roy in the corner boys a little [Applause] no he did not he was in the corner and he answered back with a nice shot right at the beltline but not with the flurry that he has in the earlier rounds [Applause] i know his corner tag not to engage or you know but you have to because manny's not matty's going to be in your face all night what are you going to do he gives you no choice no choice i mean you can run i guess but you cannot hide [Applause] a nice sharp clean jab i tell right i'm impressed more and more of a pac-man's uh defense he's developed into freddie i know he's worked that right hand a lot and he's picking off a lot of punches hands in good position good head movement good head movement and that speed that speed of hand let me tell you that may not be something freddie roach [Applause] countered and that came from nowhere this one is a nice low and now here comes pacquiao back up going to the right hand though good lantern gets it for pacquiao the screen to the body it's deafening in here oh it's caught coming in from barrera guerrero sticking to the game plan going back to his jab not looking like a three to one underdog guys wow biggest punch of the round was that right hand and that sent manny off can you believe this one's halfway finished sketch it for 12. wow it's flying [Applause] okay bye-bye seventh round coming up deeper sleeping round okay okay when you're circling to the right you can control him at all times very good okay control the things you're working beautiful all right early in the round pacquiao came out and again the high volume of punches he got two barreras defenses there straight through but then answered back your single best shot of the round [Applause] and pacquiao coming back in the flurry i got to tell you going into the six i still have it 58-56 barrera four rounds to two rich they have that have it even 57-57 very close rounds could go round seven what a fight it's what people pay to see these two great champions [Applause] this is not in the least going to disappoint anybody by the time this thing's finished but once again manny out a little bit cautious trying to work that jab but his best advantage is his pace does he seem frustrated when he slaps his gloves together like that yeah he'll usually do that when he gets caught he gets a little frustrated he's trying to fire himself up but boris did a great job at circling to his left giving him a lot of angles great lateral movement timing that jab perfectly countering at times with that hard right so he's he's a tough out pacquiao may still go on to stop marco guerrero michael antonio in this fight but i'll tell you by this time in the first fight he was slaughtering marcos well you know nolan in all their first fights morales pereira marquez no they underestimated pacquiao's power they thought he can't hit that hard but turned out he was like mike tyson very defensive round for pereira here and mainly because manny hasn't given him a lot to counter there we go beautiful combination speed for pacquiao that was at [Applause] he can go to it pretty much anytime he wants to and he's very very respectful of marco antonio guerrero well he should be [Applause] left for pacquiao good head movement by pacquiao [Applause] [Music] both fighters showing each other a lot of respect both have been caught with some hard counter punches i don't know that [Applause] in this fight he just looks a little off doesn't he like a little different not like his normal spark plug now granted he's going up against a well-prepared well-conditioned qualified hall of famer [Applause] well he's had to do a lot of running [Applause] punches though i thought manny won that round guys i don't have the cards i'm trying to get involved [Music] [Applause] okay [Music] [Music] we're going to see some action in this round the fact that [Applause] [Music] there he is going back out going to the body when you're dealing with pacquiao though you're always dealing with a keg of dynamite [Applause] he can explode on you anytime that's all right nice pawn himself in the hand i think pacquiao was just indicating he didn't like getting hit that combination from pereira what was that how dare you and he punished himself for it yeah that's one thing the other guy beating you but you're going to beat on yourself i keep waiting for manny to explode guys and just go he's in with a different animal tonight [Applause] the last couple of rounds but he's had a nice round so far his refocus went back to his game i wonder what eric morales is slipping back he's sitting back watching this fight probably having three fights in the can with barrera three fights in the [Applause] [Music] [Applause] he never was too fond of marco antonio he's hoping they both lose that's true well you know at least uh morales did a commercial with manny he never did one with martha that was always bad between those camps it was it was obvious [Applause] this is an interesting round but marco may be stealing guys i think so far just enough yeah [Applause] you know and you know for the most part i want to have that i have it that way for the fight he's stealing around sort of stealing the fight down by one round so far that's good effective right hand for manny manny's having trouble finding it and marco obviously trained to fight this type of fight it's like nascar in there they must have gone around the ring a couple hundred times well i know it's marco's doing just as many left-hand turns yes because he keeps moving left [Applause] [Music] in that round pacquiao was a little bit hesitant and he let pereira at times steal the thunder from him but man he did have his moments as he does it everywhere really [Applause] okay [Applause] you take his right hand away from me i haven't noticed him crossing himself as much as he's done do you think he's got some bounce i think very well mario well i i've noticed that as well as i pointed out earlier and i think since i've mentioned it he's done it about four or five more times he did it in the corner and then coming out of the corner we're in round nine pacquiao might be a little confused he's just got to go to what he does best and that's fight [Applause] not the fight i expected from manny pacquiao thus especially considering the success he had against him in the first round you figured just he'd have a psychological edge and he'd try to come out and test his will [Applause] [Music] pereira continues the good head movement i mean he is his textbook head movement well pacquiao may be winning this fight but he has not been this overwhelming monolith that we've actually come to expect from him good combination there from pacquiao once he gets the chance if pereira is still in front underneath he can get it done [Applause] long way to go in it i'm not going to speculate but i'll tell you this much if it does become a close victory or not we're expected for maddie i think he might we might learn some lessons about his training camp that he might not want to do again exactly i think it'll be the last time you see training camp up in the philippines [Applause] marco's got his pride and he's not gonna back down oh he gets that look and that clinch john he's coming back [Applause] left hand upstairs manny counters another left hand for manny pacquiao there are probably many times when pereira wants to revert to his old style right and he probably has to stop himself and get back to boxing [Applause] that is the one surprise how he's frustrated he's frustrated oh good right hand manny pacquiao that's the power and then always answers there he goes answering again going back to the jab pacquiao having a good round though [Applause] always trying to end it big steal the rounds at the last 10 seconds [Applause] what's [Applause] okay [Applause] pacquiao who did not even look to me like he was paying attention to freddie roach in the corner but we see some of his work in the last round i thought he dinged marco a little in that last round and one occasion [Applause] still not overwhelming but he was throwing flurries [Applause] [Applause] here we go we're getting the business into the fight folks round 10 scheduled for 12. [Applause] i'd [Applause] very good and it's a very close fight and a very tough fight to score we've had a couple of those tonight guys well when you get down to these final rounds then you find out about the train again juan manuel marquez is in the audience tonight another great champion from mexico who has fought each of these men in pitched battles both of them were fantastic fights against pacquiao and against pereira he beat pereira and had a draw with pacquiao and marquez has his own fight with rocky warriors coming up soon but assuming he is victorious in that he probably will see marquez against the winner of this fight here tonight early next year and if it's pacquiao i gotta tell you i think he feels a little confident about his uh his chances in that fight well doesn't what he's seeing tonight also [Applause] i think manny has a healthy respect for the counter-punching of the royal he [Applause] in his career [Applause] so you don't believe rich that if uh vivero won this fight he's going to retire [Applause] um i think then if he were [Applause] and you know it's not like he's he's really i mean it's a good fight but it's not like he's in a war he's suffering a lot of punishment listen if he's if he's not the fighter he once was he's not far from the fighter [Applause] nice combination by varela that was a nice combination and manny's trying to come in and close the gap now but guerrero keeps going to his left keep staying away from that power hand now he's going back to his right [Applause] he's quick to answer he's never vera is not going to let anything slide oh no i've seen him in some brutal fights some of the stuff he did with hamad was uh yes especially the smash of the face under the turnbuckle you mean the full nelson [Applause] too i gave that to pereira [Applause] well to give it all he's got these last two rounds if it makes it two rounds and take the fight if you can and manny that is definitely going to step it up you would think these championship rounds would be pacquiao rounds as the younger man is at his absolute peak in his career right now pereira said to be on the downside advanced in years in so many wars but sometimes the obvious scenario doesn't always play out well the experience factor as i earned more and more respect as if i needed more respect for guerrero you know the wars that he went through in his career you learned so much from them comes mandy there's the speed and what he needs is [Applause] if he's going to win it [Applause] he's out on his feet [Applause] i don't think there's anything intentionally dirty tony weeks wants the [Applause] okay one point one point [Applause] okay [Applause] he was very wobbly and barrera's time to step on the gas right now and see what he's got left his cut listen a headbutt can really take a lot out of you and uh pacquiao was obviously terribly dizzy had to bring the referee over [Applause] has [Applause] and that was such a close round leading up to that a close fight i should say leading up to that run that's [Music] is [Applause] let's take a look at it now pacquiao coming in landing that left hand is a beautiful shot pereira trying to answer back but staggered by that left now watch on the break right [Applause] perfect example of protect yourself at all times we're in the final the young round it could come down to this round we just don't know okay guerrero had a costly point taken away in the last round those fans nervous about what might happen with the judge's decision and pereira needs to resort to the barrera of hold and get in there and make it a little bit more of a slugpace there's still some effects from when he hurts manny from coming out of the clinch i really believe so because that point deduction is going to hurt him wow pacquiao had never been in a worse way than he was after that ever stop it stop kind of a funny looking folks guys off the break and it really stunning came from out of the clouds out of the clouds right i think they're going to know about one minute and a half to one minute we're going to start going at it unless pereira thinks that he's done enough which i can't imagine he's done a good job and fought very very well tonight so as far as him having another great fight in him i think he definitely had the great fight a slip both landing hard jabs [Applause] coming up on one minute left in this 12-rounder who will prevail [Applause] i think pacquiao's different or he's frustrated pacquiao still wants to fight raven marcus mike antonio in come on let's fight [Applause] one big opportunity to counter punch could drop pacquiao [Applause] very close fight i mean close round to judge for being an imperative around the fight [Applause] finally 10 seconds there it goes what do you think this is a tough fight to crawl gentlemen either way is probably going to be controversial oh man either way guys i think it's going to be controversial possibly a draw leaning towards barrera you can't go wrong [Applause] you know manny pacquiao as well as anybody did you sense do you sense that something was off tonight a little bit yeah you know i i did ever since the first round he didn't look the pacquiao did not look himself he only showed flashes of himself he did the sign of the cross more times than i've ever seen him he punched his gloves more time than i ever seen it was a little off but not to discredit uh marco antonio perez i thought he did a good job and executed his game playing well all right i know you gotta run mario rich your thoughts i thought i thought that barrera came in here with a definite plan and how he wanted to fight and i think he was able for the most part to carry out that game plan but that doesn't mean he won the fight i think he was able to fight the way that he wanted to fight i thought manny pacquiao won this fight tonight but i thought pereira quitted himself quite well i thought that herrera fought the only fight he could really do against this guy and manny wasn't left with a lot of options the question is how did the judges see it hearing guerrero around the ring seems to be quite happy with himself going 12 rounds manny pacquiao well he should get a ride around the ring just for the great career he's out especially if this is the end of it very well could be we will ask those questions when we get a chance [Applause] and again that cut on barrera's face wow that's a beauty isn't really it trouble that's going to take several stitches to uh close up i think we need a few more people in the room yeah they're going to die of suffocation somewhere in there are the fighters this has gotten completely out of control in terms of how many people they allow into the ring it's just ridiculous mark ratner used to keep a pretty good lid on it but this is uh way too many especially when you have the more tense kind of situations and scenarios between camps when you can really have trouble
