Man accused in murder of 4-year-old in Tampa back in court

Aaron Mesmer FOX 13 news. One of the five men accused of killing four year old Sonny Bell two years ago. Once out of jail, Andrew Thompson is accused of firing at another vehicle and killing the child who was riding in the backseat. Today, Thompson was asking a judge to release him on bond. FOX 13's Gloria Gomez shows us what the judge decided. Defendant Andrew Thompson was making another legal push to get out of jail. He's been locked up since he and four other co defendants were charged with the murder of four year old Sonny Bell bond in the neighborhood of $50,000 would be reasonable. Thompson was denied bond after his arrest two years ago. But he's taking his chances with a different judge. Prosecutors want him to stay right where he is. So this was clearly a coordinated attack between all of these individuals . They all had agreed to it and we're all participating in it. One clip of surveillance video released by police in August of 2021 shows the silver car Sonny was riding in. It was being followed by a dark colored car. The child was sitting in the back seat when it was sprayed by bullets on Hillsborough Avenue near 43rd Street. At first, the family was unaware of the child had been hit and was rushed to the hospital where she died of her injuries. Today The lead detective testified that Thompson and the others were at a Chevron gas station when Thompson admitted to getting in the car. Just before the shooting from when he is it when he enters the vehicle to the gunshots, I would say it's probably about a minute and 15 seconds. Very interesting vehicle from the Chevron. But Thompson's lawyer points out what the video doesn't show anyone being identified inside those vehicles. Um inside the vehicles? No that didn't appear to sway the judge evidence against Mr Thompson. Is great and sufficient enough. Should continue to hold him. No bond. Thompson will stay locked up until his trial.
