Making low ranked players do the mechanics they bragged they could do

whenever someone posts a video or clip about rocket league mechanics or ranks or actually pretty much any topic you ever notice these comments like i'm a platinum and i can hit flip resets air dribbles ceiling shots and i can speed flip or just hit diamond one but i could do ceiling shots musty flicks resets and speed flips ever since i was like plot one or two i can triple flip reset consistently double reset breezy air dribble ceiling musty double flip reset musty backward and yeah also pretty good at pogos there are so many of these comments that by reading them you'd think platinum lobbies are just filled with absolute mechanical gods who are these insanely talented low-ranked players that we all read about on tick-tock twitter and youtube comments and are they able to back up their talk well today we find out because i tracked down as many of these commenters as i could and asked them to do one simple thing do whatever mechanic they bragged they could do i invited them to a private match and asked them to perform whatever mechanic they mentioned in their comment i would just sit in that and watch let's see who's truly mechanical and who's stretching the truth a little bit [Music] i'm a plat 3 who can ground punch half flip ceiling shot musty speed flip half 30 said half flip and pogo all right let's see these moves that's a lot of moves he said he could do can't wait to see them this is a pogo based on the name pogo i think he's supposed to bounce it's all right we got the whole game i just want to see any one of these mechanics or all of them or what you okay we're working on it we're building towards it we're building towards it just keep trying here okay that was a ground punch woohoo so got three minutes here a couple of attempts under the belt it's okay close close close getting there that almost went that was almost on the net all right okay okay we all right we got this we gotta keep trying here running out of time that might be in no all right well he said he could speed flip so next game i just asked him to do a speed flip that it's not really a speed flip let's try it again here and that that's not quite what i'm looking for it's all good i got eight other people flat three i can air dribble and flip reset musty consistently now this is what i'm talking about finally some consistency here let's see these this flip reset musty just got to get a good setup now this is crazy we got a gold that can speed flip like speed flipping is pretty hard some people like to say oh it's so easy but usually they're just not able to speed for it okay so here we have a shot that requires a speed flip to get to the ball and he's not getting to the ball because he's not speed flipping he's diagonal flipping and side flipping so i'm beginning to think i can't speed flip here's another shot that requires a speed flip forward [Music] okay gotta do a speed flip to get to it all right this is a lot harder than that what i used to be able to do okay so that's really the ultimate test of a speed flip as a training pack but i wanted to see if he could just pull a speed flip off in any circumstance so we went to free play and i just asked him to do a speed flip [Music] all right let's move on i'm a platinum and i can hit flip resets air dribbles ceiling shots and i can speed flip lol all right do it then i'm really not even close all right okay made contact on the flip reset you know maybe i'm asking too much i mean if someone says they can do something i assume they can do it but can i even do anything mechanical on my first try oh yeah i actually can i mean i know these guys are nervous like this is pressure for sure okay he actually did get the reset there oh oh no all right well he said he could speed flips let's see that nope not a speedflip nope that's just a side flip that was kind of i think that was actually a speed flip we just didn't control it kind of oh he did a musty but that wasn't even on his list all right well these guys are doing their best please do not roast them i'm golden i can kind of ceiling shot i can almost air dribble and i can speed flip not going to make him do the other stuff only what he's confident he can do which is speed flip that is not a speed flip that is not a speed flip that is not a speed flip that is not a speed flip that is not a speed flip that isn't nope none of another guy saying he can speed flip flat three i can speed flip all right we go to the training pack oh my god he actually touched the ball yup this guy he missed that one but yes this guy is actually speed flipping he did it this guy is in plat can he hit this one yep now this is what a speedflip looks like this is it he controls it well enough to get to the ball and score he's also verifying his rank he isn't diamond one he said he was flat three but you know pretty close and he's the first one to actually back up his talk he said he could speed flip and he can here he's doing the musty training pack which also verifies the speed flip if you can reach the ball you are speed flipping and he can do it consistently literally second or third try this guy can speed flip i'm a diamond and can consistently flip reset and air dribble i like that i like when they say consistently because it sets them up or success speaking of setups it's got to be better it's just got to be better first try though get that one out of the way all right he's he's going somewhere [Music] uh not quite not quite [Music] oh almost had it almost had it uh he made contact oh there's a reset nah not clean with the hit though let's go to his pov ah he's got the good he's got air rolls he can air roll okay there's a nice there's a nice air dribble to the corner to no to you know not to score but okay there's a nice clean setup there he's got the reset but yeah i just can't actually do anything with it [Music] yeah he can consistently get the reset kind of there we go okay i mean that's something here we go is he got 13 seconds left no no it's just not there oh oh he accidentally scored he's got one more chance he's good yeah yeah i can flip reset i'm plat 2 and from us west all right i like that added detail about his location let's see if he can flip reset that is not a flip reset setup that is closer okay oh he almost yeah we almost did it wait can you guys hear that i think it's time for a montage [Music] man i'm beginning to just not believe any of these people this guy says he can do yeah a bunch of things a bunch of things there's the list okay that guy yet okay clean reset musty i was going for the double didn't quite get it this guy might oh he's got the breezy okay this guy's legit this guy's legit i can already tell he's got the muscle memory like it doesn't matter that he's nervous it doesn't matter that he's put on the spot he knows actually how to do these mechanics that one didn't work but yeah look he's got a consistent setup he gets the reset every time he's got a double reset yep this guy's good this guy really can do the stuff he says oh my god yeah this is a he's a legit freestyler this is what it looks like to be able to actually do the things you say you can do [Music] yeah he almost got a triple reset and that was like his second or third try i really want to see him pull one of these off one two three not quite on but he's only a diamond three he is the highest rank pretty much of anyone we saw but still for below champ those mechanics are crazy so after all these players got their chance to show me their mechanics a few of them sent me their clips to reassure me that they could in fact do the moves like they claimed but notice most of them are in free play so yes they can in fact pull off advanced mechanics if they have unlimited boost unlimited attempts no defenders and no pressure fair enough so next time you see someone say i'm in gold and i can hit flip resets just remember when they're in an actual game it probably looks something more like this rocket league is hard and almost everyone sucks at it so why pretend otherwise [Music] you
