Making a "fancy-pancy" marking gauge

hey what's up friends in this video I'm gonna make marking gauge to mark gauge I mean to mark wood and yeah it's gonna be my first marking gauge that I have that I made oh but I suppose I was used square and that's it anyway it's gonna be fancy fancy [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] well alright then and it's finished I'm the it's done I like it I'm happy I had a few problems with it a little bit I made a few mistakes that I probably would avoid next time first thing is that the nail it didn't show how I made in the video of the plate rather is a well I made it from Springfield I just cut it off and annealed it cut it off he treated it quantitate well file it first the blade is good it's it's sharp and all but the way it's held well it's pretty strong now but it's curved awkward I cannot really sharpen it because I glued it in and so yeah the next thing is I made a stupid mistake where I wear the school bows Cindy anyway so I made it not kind of this flat here where the square knot that is sits on top of the marking gauge and the stupid thing was when I screwed it in when it's kind of pushed against the ruler it pushed the nail it I mean push the nuts back out so that didn't work so what I've done is I just took insert screw like a wooden instance cool and I made it square and I push it in quite tight in there and it really holds up and it works and I'm happy with this so this is alright the next thing is is it Hollow alright so the next thing is what it is well I didn't think about it because I made the base of the marking of the gauge I guess metal and the rail I made the sides out of wood and they kind of scratch each other well they don't it doesn't scratch the wood wood it scratches the shellac finish which is which is really nice finish but it's yeah I mean it's not good when you love metal against it so this was it so it's kind of like yeah it kind of sticks and they about the engraving I liked I'm happy with engraving I didn't do a lot of engraving metal I mostly done in class I will show you in later videos what I like you can see this one I'm not gonna do the background thing where I engrave the whole back on because it's got kind of messy and I'm not that skillful with it just yet so I think for the next time I would just do punching kind of something similar no and you there we go like that if you can see it hopefully is it sure ooh there we go so sound like that I probably would do next time take a little bit less time and look a bit neater and it was a shame because I was really happy with the with my circular lines and all that anyway it looks nice from here in the camera but up close it's it's very nice maybe you can see it maybe you can see it it may see well it probably seen it Annette screenshots for it it got a little bit better better in terms of shooting slightly some some of them at least when I got new flashlights I also changed my setup for device thing so it turns so I can shoot engraving in the middle and so when I turn it it will stay in flame like so somewhat I can just put the camera fix and it rotates like this very nicely alright so in that's it then I hope you enjoyed video learned a lot of books this kind of making and video making and hopefully not hopefully I will what well in the next video I'm gonna make a kind of a machine automated machine with the ink staff and fellows and and it's gonna be pretty cool and I hope you stick around I don't like sticking out and I hope you see you there
