[Music] this bungalow that we are in is 20 years old the homeowners Margaret and Jeff they actually bought this land and then hired a local architect to design this house so back then in 1999 everything was superb you know it was right on trend and their house was just a little dated when we showed up so we came in to the rescue we completely revitalized this home and we gave it the modern touch that they craved when we first walked into this space it was really cut off and very traditional we had random columns that weren't even structural supports originally we had a massive wall it was a huge obstruction in this space you can see that the voltage ceilings are incredible I find that open-concept really tends to give that modern look I worked with Foxwood custom homes and they did all of the architectural work here we decided to keep everything really streamlined crisp clean straight and modern and I think boxwood did a great job with that this is a big space to begin with so we had to decide how to arrange the furniture we ended up brightening things up keeping things tone on tone neutral and adding just a few pops of color here and there because the artwork really is the statement in this room we also decided to go against custom draperies in the living room because of the art we really just wanted to let it shine on that wall we wanted stuff that would wear well with high traffic and would be super practical for this family of four their sectional we ended up choosing a krypton fabric so the krypton goes through a heat process that helps protect and repel and kind of stain you could literally pour a glass of red wine on this sofa and it would pool and puddle right off so we know that this family and their dog are in good hands well we originally started with the kitchen you can see the before photos this kitchen was so dated tile floors we convinced them to go with a beautiful engineered hardwood that's light and airy and really helped to lighten up the space overall there were ton of cabinets before and to be honest Margaret and Jeff are both really worried about losing that cabinet space now they're finding they have more than they need and they love that they can watch the kids in the other room because we took down that wall we were able to add two eight-foot islands in this space we overlaid a butcher block island that's eight feet on one side and then we did a lookalike concrete slab on the other and I just love it I think it looks incredible it's modern its transitional and it really is a WOW factor in this kitchen so we played with a few different ideas for the backsplash but we wanted something luxe and the Cambria Britannica does just that we ended up going with two jumbo slabs here and instead of having the seam right down the middle and butterflying the pattern we cut one of the slabs and we did a bit of a staircase on either side to create a border that really emphasized this backsplash as a feature in their kitchen eatin area I know we already have a ton of dark going on but because there's so much natural light it really did lend to another dark wall and really helps to showcase another one of those beautiful custom pieces of art that they had we went with a smoked glass table so we continued with the dark but then we brought in some really light chairs everything just works so well in the dining room we made a lot of architectural changes Foxwood custom homes they did amazing work removing all of the columns that were here before smoothing out all of those arches and just streamlining everything to go with the rest of the home and then we ended up keeping a lot of elements as well so this beautiful bookcase that is in the dining room it is the same paint color as it was initially we've just revitalized it with a brand new 48 inch round mirror and all new styling accessories we brought in a beautiful new window so this is black when you look from the outside really nice crisp and clean from the inside we kept the original light fixture but we added a pop of black to the ceiling and we took the lampshades off the light added some nice clean bulbs and we've got a modern chandelier that used to be traditional with their master we continued with a lot of the same foundational elements the beautiful light engineered hardwood we went with some light walls in this space to make it feel open and airy and then the bed is the masterpiece in this room it is quite the statement and we added a little bit of color you can see that beautiful gold chair in the corner we went with some modern light fixtures and then we added some warmth with this beautiful bench at the end of their bed and we picked up that color in one of the area rugs as well this bathroom is one of my most favorite projects I've ever done this is where we got to have some fun for Jeff they basically told me Jeff could live in a cement box and that's pretty much what we gave him in their master bathroom we did this beautiful concrete tile we brought it all the way up their walls Foxwood created some beautiful custom concrete shelves that's real concrete those are heavy duty and they are reinforced into that wall and then to break things up and add some warmth we did a faux wood tile throughout the shower gives it kind of a spa look that's really modern lakyn is 13 and she really wanted to be involved in this bedroom design she ended up going with a beautiful peach duvet cover and that's what initially started the whole concept for this room we ended up bringing in some Navy in the area rug which I think the peach and the Navy play off each other so well but then we've still got a lot of whimsy you'll notice the sloth sheets also her choice we went with a beautiful light night stay just one because we were short for space in this room and we gave her a desk for practicality Paige is a little bit older this to me is so New York City chic and her style was very minimal I was actually a little nervous to show her her space because she wanted nothing in it she wanted tone on tone white black simple and that's what we gave her and she loved it they were heavily involved in the decisions in this bathroom we styled it up really fun this gorgeous mirror from cd2 they love that patterned tile that we went with and in the shower you'll see we went with some brass so this is kind of where we highlighted the brass elements with a two-tone shower wall we have the dark herringbone on the back wall and then a beautiful light subway tile to really punctuate that herringbone and the girls love it the den is a lot of fun we went with super dark walls this is gentlemen's grey in the den it's the one space that has doors that can shut away and you can kind of tuck away to yourself so we wanted it to be cozy and fun this lamp from upcountry it is such a statement in any room it would look incredible but I think especially against those dark walls it just stands out this project has really been a labor of love you really get to know your clients over a year and a half they're wonderful people and I'm thrilled that they love their home as much as I do [Music]
