Major Improvements at Grain Bins

morning so i went to therapy this morning i came back dad done cut a hole in a grain bin and we're pulling an auger over there so i guess we're done messing with it [Music] [Music] [Applause] so so on this swing away auger we've got to reverse the swing away to this side for where they've cut the hole in the bin and since we got pavement right here we're doing it here before we leave so with the swing away auger you're able to use it on either side you just have to unhook turn the auger all the way back around and basically so kayla and the kids went down the post office it's like we got a little bit of mail yeah it says it's a water bag yeah that's pretty cool got this from bernie bernie from australia thank you checking these out [Applause] oh there's the bird glad that wasn't in there so here's the shoot dad bought and then he rigged up uh well that's the door and he rigged up the chute so it should work never want to cut a hole in a bin if you don't have to but most of our bins have had holes cut in before oddly enough that one had not until this year well at least things lasted you got videographer that it was clearly manufactured default our spouses will be felt well compensated yes hey we have life insurance i don't know if it covers stupidity though got it well we got a crater right there so bj and i are gonna meet dad up at the other grain bins apparently our electricians up there we're going to put some new lights in right before harvest and maybe finish our wiring job morning so today electric is getting put at the bins the master electrician's over there today he's just about got it finished up we're going to hang up some flood lights and we're going to that'll be it and everything should be wired up [Music] all right so the lights wired up now aj's got a couple more led dusted on lights we're putting up instead of the old ones we got a couple of them are burnt out i'm gonna replace those and then he's pretty well done but uh while he's finishing that he's on the ground for now so i'm gonna go get some lunch and come back here at the bush hog it's getting hot time to find an ac job looks like it could rain too [Music] so aj got all of our lights wired up unfortunately our big front light no good and i've had it too long to return so we got it done but all the security lights are up now we're going to put some wiring and some conduit in for a future um dust fan since we're doing now and i'm lifting him up with the telehandler and our custom man basket that sounds very bad man basket [Music] [Music] oh [Music] okay good morning this is the next day after we were working on the lights and stuff don't worry about why the glainer's out that's in the next coming video so you will sneak peek there got something coming for it though anyways let's step over here and i'll explain to you exactly what we did so in case you're new to the channel or the bin project that we did in 2019 um everything was pretty much done except for some of the wiring the guy is our electrician family friend uh he just kind of works on our stuff as a favor he came over and finished wiring everything so now all of our push buttons are right here look at there even labeled everything so these are lights so all that light means um here let's just turn the leg on i don't know what ben it's going to this could be bad but see that light lit up that's just so you know everything's running because when it's noisy in here you can't always tell what's running so dad wanted lights on there i'm glad we did that but then now we also have all our buttons here so as long as the gate is open to the auger we can control everything from that bin right here except for the gate and engaging the power sweep those are mechanical levers but that's going to be nice because before if you were loading out here by yourself it's kind of a pain in the butt because you had to check the truck and then like if you're rolling out of the far bender you'd have to sprint over there once you start getting full shut it off gonna be much nicer with all those push buttons there now so other things that we did there's an electrical outlet right there you may not think that's a big deal but that's going to be where our exhaust fan is you've probably noticed how dusty it is in here like this wall for example is white under all that dust very dusty in here when we load out the wind swirls right through here we never really know which way it's going to go so we are putting an exhaust fan in we don't know what kind of fan we're going to use it's a very open space for an exhaust fan we've been told by some that it might not work the best so we just haven't come up with something yet i've had some people say why don't you just use a bin fan if you think about a bin fan is working in a pressurized environment like there's it's enclosed this is all open so i don't think a bin fan will work anyways other things that we had done this week i didn't even notice that outlet we got a new outlet right there kind of handy we got wiring provisions right here we ordered some wall packs or everyone call them basically lights are just going to shine straight down here on the drive-through so that'll be nice especially on that far end it's a little dark over there at least it was so that should lighten it up quite a bit now the bucket truck it was here for putting up lights you there was a light there but it didn't work i had an amazon special 400 watt led floodlight which should be very bright it's actually right here little did we know that on the back here it says it's 240 volt and on their website it says 110. it turns out it's 110 because we burn it up anyways we will have a light up there a big floodlight to light up all the yard right here i think that's gonna be awesome and then we replaced our old security lights with led security lights i haven't seen them yet but those should be much brighter and just a lot good better light about a lot gooder we are eventually going to put some lights over the dryer it's a little dark right here it's not bad though i just want this place to look like daylight was dark then we got uh i think we put four led security lights up so that should make it pretty bright on the back side of the bench here too yeah guys that's the big bin improvements i think this will make uh quite a bit different especially the push buttons when we start hauling out of here could be much nicer now we just got to finish cleaning these bins out grease everything and we'll be ready for harvest we still have roughly i don't know probably 15 20 loads of corn and like three loads of beans this bin's empty that one's not and that one's not and that one's not see folks what our strategy was when we started selling corn it was like 350 like in november last year and i think it got up to like 740. so we wanted to sell seven four we wanted to sell 350 corn 740 corn and then 350 corn again so that's what we're holding out for now that's sarcasm um we probably should have just sold all of us like seven seven bucks but now i've got to go unload the thing that's for the gleaner so place your bets on
