during the middle of the week come on could you put aside your situations the problems that you're facing outside of this room I don't want you to worry about job situation I don't want to worry about sicknesses right now all I want us to focus on it's the fact that we serve a good god that we serve a mighty God come on can we put our burdens can we put our change and our shackles down let's just focus with one mind and one Accord just like they were in the Upper Room come on just trust few moments can we focus on the fact that we serve a good God Lord you've been better than meat another serve God God you've given me food God you've given me things I'm needed don't even sing someone and God and I thank you for tonight you are a good god you are a gracious god you are a most of Oh God Lord when I committed mistake after mistake don't and you gave me mercy when I didn't deserve it God you giving me grace when I didn't deserve it god god you're a good god God in this season of Thanksgiving I want to thank you for being a good god come on let's just think of just for a minute less for a minute can we spend up a season of Thanksgiving unto our God we have so much to be thankful for god I thank you for this church family tonight you got us thank you that I'm allowed to come in here and worship in spirit and in truth God not only can I worship you in my in spirit but God I worship you and the fact that I know you are one God and your name is Jesus and you are risen from the grave god I thank you for God I thank you for my church family you've got who I should worship with tonight god god you are such a good god you are a gracious gracious god and i thank you tonight god I fake to Jesus I thank you come on someone say he's good he's good just a beautiful as we pray over offering we're going to take our needs before God there are many many needs in this house tonight Larry King's brother James has a problem with his heart his lungs if we could keep him in our prayers brother clay Birds mother Pat is in UT this evening Dorothy Glasgow's brother passed away let's keep their family in our prayers of course we need to keep brother brother Lee in our prayers Nolan Havard Mary Crowder and then brother and sister Yates have a grandchild that has been suffering from seizures us keep them in our prayers just evening and I'm pastor just mentioned to me a special unspoken request that he received right before church we can keep that in our minds tonight if you have a need in your life if you would lift your hands up to heaven to signify that need and let's take these knees before the throne room tonight God God we love you Lord we feel your presence in this room God you've got know that you are here Lord as our praise went up God your glory came down Lord and I can't think of a better time to petition our knees before the throne room tonight I would you touch brother King's brother James tonight you gotta pray that you would heal his heart his lungs God would you go to for the clay Birds mother Pat tonight at UT Hospital would you go to that room God you know that situation we know that you are a healer God God would you touch the Glasgow family God as their brother passed away Lord God touch brotherly God I pray that you would heal him god body soul and spirit God would you touch them tonight God strengthen you got strength and brotherly tonight God keep your hand upon brother Noland have hurtin my god and sister Mary crowd or Lord the people who have served you for such a long time God would you honor their faithfulness tonight you God and would you heal their bodies Lord you got in touch brother and sister Yates grandchild god I pray that you would just make this seizure stop happening God even though the doctors may not know everything God I am talking to someone here tonight I am talking to you that knows every problem got you created our bodies God you can just speak the word and healing could go forth tonight god we thank you god for being a prayer answering God would you heal every need in this place every hand that was lifted in this house can we bring these needs before you tonight thank God not only have you heard our prayer but God I thank you for hearing us God and healing our needs tonight god I thank you Jesus I thank him come on one more time can we clap our hands because the Lord has heard our prayers tonight Jesus in Jesus name in Jesus name the needs are great but God is greater then I pray one more prayer let's pray for this offering tonight before we march God we thank you we thank you for hearing our needs god I pray for this offering God you know the fields of labor that it'll go into lord I pray that you are blessed together tonight forgiving sacrificially lord I pray and sister Yates they had a grandchild who had some very severe seizures that kept him out of church Sunday and and while they were while they were out of church they didn't get to hear pastors Bible lesson Sunday morning home the Lord is good the Lord is good and so sister sharp she told them about the message said you just need to go in there and lay your hand on that child and say the Lord is good just say the Lord is good they went in there and laid their hand on that child and proclaimed that word the Lord is good and praise God I'm glad to report victory and seizures have ceased and and we just thank God we just thank God for that I believe it was it was at Nashville you all had to go to the hospital there said they got back on the interstate heading home and said they got right back right behind an 18-wheeler and on the back of it it simply said the Lord is good amen the Lord is good the Lord is good how many said that this week how many said the Lord is good the Lord is good if you have your Bibles I'd like you to stand with me tonight turn to the book of Philippians chapter 2 and verse number 5 as you're finding that passage of Scripture that I'm going to teach from tonight thank you for coming to midweek Bible study thank you for being faithful to the house of God and thank you for being a witness thank you for being a witness in our community I contacted someone this week brother lawless I if my memory serves me right and I've often said I've got a photographic memory I just simply ran out of film sometime and you invited a man by the name of Israel am i correct a man by the name of Israel becoming with the Sunday and he filled out a guest card and I sent him a text and just told him that it was so good to have him worshiping with us this service blew his mind Sunday he was acts absolutely taken back he said my soul got fed in the church Sunday and he said I will be back so not only thank you for being faithful to the house of God thank you for being good witness in the community and bringing people to church amen you notice brother sister Erickson are missing tonight they have had to go back to school they're actually in Georgia tonight in school that has to do with the new program that we're launching here after the first of the year with small groups and they have been back to paper/pencil probably a whole lot of erasers all right they've been back to the classroom but it's going to help make us a better church help us to be able to reach reach more people for the Lord have you got Philippians 2:5 let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus why don't we say that all together as a church I'll lead the way let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus father tonight anoint your servant Lord it is my desire this evening to help prepare a people for your soon return it is my desire tonight Lord as an anointed man of God it is my desire Lord to prepare a people to be ready and to also prepare a people to go in the harvest field to re lost souls before your coming father touch every person in this room tonight I bind any demonic spirit I bind any spirit tonight that would try to hinder someone from receiving your word Lord you are great and you are greatly to be praised in Jesus wonderful name we pray amen and amen you may be seated let this mind be in you Paul says let the mind let the mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus Church a constant prayer of ours should be that we always maintain the right spiritual mind so that we can serve the Lord I want that to sink in a prayer Byers in case in case you may have made the statement I don't know what to pray for one of the staple items in your prayer time should be that you always maintain the right spiritual mind to serve the Lord having a godly mind is essential having a godly mind is essential for being productive in the kingdom of God and I would say that word for those that need to be told it's a heaven or hell issue alright it is essential that you keep a godly spiritual mind in order to be productive in the kingdom of God it is only with a spiritual mind that a person can discern the correct path that he or she will be called upon to take because living for God there's a lot of Forks in the road that's right living for God there's a lot of decisions there's a lot of Forks in the road and it is only a spiritual mind that can discern which road you need to walk down because sometimes what looks good to your fleshly mind is not the right path there is a way that seemeth right unto the man but the end is the way of death so I think we begin to see that this having a godly mind is nothing we should scoff at it's nothing that we should we'll maybe sculpt that's not the right word maybe I should say we need to take it very seriously that we always maintenance maintain to make sure that we have a godly mind we have a godly mind that can that can discern that candidates and that's been my prayer this week since Sunday night that's been my prayer for all of us is that we will raise up a church that has the right discernment that can discern the end of time will be marked the end of time will be marked by those who call good evil that's right the end of time will be marked that if something is good they'll call it evil and something that's evil they'll call it good they're there their spiritual taste buds will not be able to discern what is what is rotten what is sour what is spoiled what is not good what is not good for the body and my prayer for all of us this week not just pastor but all of us has been oh god help us to develop the spirit of discernment that we can discern huh I believe that it's God's will that that we not run off the cliff I know that God can restore us when we run off the cliff but I wonder and I don't wonder I know for a fact that it's God's will that we can discern where the clip is a and how we need to stay on the road of evangelism increasing the kingdom of God so that he doesn't have to always be restoring her life God give us the spirit of discernment give us the spirit of discernment so that our minds can be godly minds how important is how important is it for our minds to be godly well let's look at a story in the gospel chapter of Mark chapter 5 verse number 2 the Bible tells us an event that happened in the life of Jesus it says and when he was come out of the ship immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit and I want you to notice that because that's one of the first things that tells us that something's wrong with this man is not necessarily they comes walking out of the tombs but it tells us that this man's got what kind of a spirit I'm gonna see if you're listening to me tonight what kind of a spirit because the man have he's got an unclean spirit how did this unclean spirit manifest itself who had his dwelling among the tombs meant he lived he lived among the dead and no man could bind him no not with chains because the that he had been often bound with fetters and chains and the chains had been plucked asunder by him and the fetters broken in pieces neither could any man tame him so this man had this unclean spirit which we know is the devil and because he had these unclean spirits Allegiant in him he had strength beyond that of a natural man he was able to break chains he was able to break fetters pieces of iron that were laid to keep him restrained he was able to break those chains he was able to break those fetters not only that somebody come up with the idea to reform him say what he needs is somebody go down there with a book and teaching well the Bible said no man contain him you couldn't even listen he was beyond an animal you can tame an animal to do certain things they couldn't tame this man verse five and always night and day he was in the mountains and in the tombs crying and cutting himself with stones the first thing that is said about this man is that he has an unclean spirit and then from there it goes from bad to worse from there it goes he's a maniac there it goes he's cutting himself self-mutilation he's cutting himself he's tormented day and night he's crying out in the mountains and in the tombs he's ripping his clothes off they try to chain him down and he breaks the chains they try to put feather fetters on him and he breaks those fetters and they came out and tried to tame him but he couldn't be tamed until one day Jesus came when Jesus stepped off that boat that man came running to him and worshiping and before it was over with let's just go to verse 15 because this is where I want to draw I want to draw something from verse fifteen from verse five to verse 15 Jesus tells the devil's to be silent he tells the Devils they can leave and go into the herd of swine the swine run down to heel and drowned themselves and the people in the town the herdsmen left went into the town until what had happened and in verse 15 the Bible said and they can come to Jesus and see him that was possessed with the devil and had the Legion sitting clothed and in his right mind and they were afraid isn't it amazing that the story starts off with him having an unclean spirit but it ends by them making note that look he's sitting he is sitting that's the opposite that they had seen him running wild uncontrollable look he's not only sitting he's clothed another opposite that they had been used to seeing this man because the Devils had ripped his clothes off but now he's not running around naked he's sitting he's clothed but you noticed something else about him he's in his right mind now it begins by saying this man had an unclean spirit I believe that an unclean spirit starts with an unclean mind I don't believe anyone can ever truly be possessed with an unclean spirit until they have first enter the unclean spirit in their mind same thing with the Holy Spirit I think before I know before you have the Holy Spirit in you you've got to first begin to believe by faith that I can be possessed I can receive the gift of the Holy Ghost so Paul said let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus and this demoniac when the Lord delivered him from these demons the Bible says that now he is in his right mind let's look at this let's look at this when he had an unclean spirit it doesn't say it per se but he had an unclean mind he's got an unclean spirit because he's got an unclean mind and because he's got an unclean spirit he's got unclean behavior he's wild he's cutting himself he's naked he's tormented because all of that goes with the unclean mind the unclean spirit and unclean behavior you cannot separate we don't need to treat symptoms we need to go to the cause of the behavior this man doesn't need clothes this man doesn't need classes a personal hygiene this man needs the unclean spirit brought out of him so that he can be back in his right mind and he can choose the right behavior because the right mind the right behavior the wrong mind the wrong behavior let's look at another story of this happening it happened with the prodigal son in Luke chapter 15 verse number number 17 Luke chapter 15 verse number 17 just a little review you know what the prodigal son he lived a lavish life with his father his father provided not only what he needed but more than enough but somewhere this man began to have thoughts that there's a better way of living outside the father's house can I tell you that we need to dismiss any thoughts that there's a better way of living outside of God's Word God's people and God's house see the world would like to put us in the frame of mind it's all right to go to church just don't become fanatical about it matter of fact that matter of fact you won't you really won't fight much of a battle with the devil as long as you really don't start seeing this place is a must in your life it's a must for my personal salvation it's a must for my personal salvation I must read the Bible to be saved I must adhere to the Word of God in order to be saying I need to do what the Word of God says in order to be saved and one of the things you know I heard a fellow one time make the statement I'm repeating what his pastor said this man had told his pastor I didn't stay home and read my Bible and pastor agreed you can stay home and read your Bible but there's one thing you can't do you can't stay home and obey your Bible reading your Bible is one thing obeying your Bible is another thing and your Bible tells you to forsake not the assembling like a lot of you have not forsaken the Assemblies of ourselves together we know culturally culture has been telling us for some time you don't have to do Wednesday night but when do we let culture tell us how to live for God when do we let the culture begin to dictate to us oh you know you can go to church on Sunday morning that's all right you don't even have to do something there have been people that at one time would not miss when the doors would be open to the house of God but because they got in the wrong frame of and they now have the wrong set of behavior that I church I'm alright and his longus if they'll stay around here as long as they feel like brother Carpentier feels like they're alright but the moment they begin to get the inkling that I don't feel like they're alright then they put me on the Walmart circuit and they start looking for them another pastor that won't make them feel uncomfortable about their new cultural way of living for God listen this this is not just something I have to have every now and then I need the house of God I covet the house of God I come at the ways of God I don't want God's Word only to affect me on Sunday and Wednesday I want God's Word to affect me seven days a week 24 hours a day our marriage needs it our children need it it's not something that that we can take early it's something that that is very essential in our lives as a matter of fact our Bible tells us that it's God's people that were to have our fellowship with now won't you listen real closely now it's God's people that we have our fellowship with eyewitness to a lost world but I fellowship with my brothers and sisters it's my brothers and sisters that I feel at home with it's my brothers and sisters that I feel comfortable with because we share one thing in common our God a love for our God a desire to please our God in the world I'm not saying we don't well I'm not saying we don't have anything to do with the world we got a witness to the world we got to befriend the world that that may that may mean that that may mean that I take someone that's not a Christian to dinner that may mean that I'm seen in town eating lunch with someone that's not a Christian someone that doesn't know the Lord but let me tell you that is witnessing going on but my fellowship my fellowship is God's people all I know the church has got its flaws I know that we're not perfect the very moment the first fleshly person walked into the church it ceases to be perfect I know that I know that the church isn't perfect but can I tell you that the church at its worst is better than the world at its best I don't I don't really listen don't don't don't let the devil don't let the devil put in your mind oh my goodness help me Jesus tonight how many people their entire families are out of church right now I could I could I wouldn't want to embarrass anybody I wouldn't calling names but in my mind right now under my mind's it's like a Rolodex it's just it's rolling of people that started to start off something like this sounded something like this well brother carpenter we took our family on vacation to to a church that they don't know all the Apostolic truth and I want you to know they were they were they were they were more friendly than our church or I took him our young but their young folks at that church was way more friendly and all all their young people had their Bibles out and off and I cautioned them all you you better you better watch because the devil would have you pick out someone in the church that's not living right and have you start comparing them with someone that you don't know anything about all you've done is looked and saw them with a Bible under their arm you may have you may have caught them on their best day let's don't do that Church I know the church is it perfect but you hear mother carpenter one more time the church at its worst is better than the world at its very best I love the house of God I love the people of God I love the songs of Zion I love the preaching of the Apostolic Faith somebody tell me there's one God again somebody tell me what name were baptized in somebody tell me what we do when we receive the Holy Ghost somebody tell me how we come out from among them this message has been like a crock-pot message just it's been simmering since Sunday I got in the prayer room I got in the prayer room this morning that old song hit me he's everything he's everything to me he's everything he's everything if you're not saying it he's my father my brother my sister and my mother he's everything to me that's right that's what the church is that's what the church is it's everything to me that's what God is he's everything to me he's not just my son Dee my son Dee he is to me no he's everything to me he's everything to me the power of keeping the right mind but notice this this man said father give me what belongs to me he gathered it up put it in his suitcase and off down the road he went the father's house was in his rearview mirror he went down in for a short season of time let his flesh have its way with harlots and wine but he soon found himself bankrupt and morally bankrupt he found himself in the Pigpen and in Luke 15 verse 17 and when he came to him self catch that and when he came to him self can I tell you no one leaves the father's house in their right mind can I get a witness there's no one that leaves this place in their right mind there's no one there's there there's no one that leaves this place so if you begin to entertain if this place becomes an irritant to you and you begin to only talk about the flaws that we have and we had them and I submit to you that you're slowly taking a demonic narcotic that's numbing your brain to just how good it is around here can I tell you can I tell you well we're we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna work we we were worth it the right way want to come out we're gonna go somewhere where are our kids have got some friends you know our Bible teaches us if you want to have friends show yourself friendly show yourself friends it's did somebody say that was a word if you want friends if you want friends show you so friendly and do you know when you want friends you can't be a respecter of persons well we've I tell you what I will I want the preachers kids to be my friends well they'll be your friends but are you wanting them to be your bestest of friends you what does it BFF is that what they say you know can I tell you all of that we'll take all of that you'll find dear friends and close friends matter of fact some of the dearest friends I have I didn't set out to say hey I want to make him one of my dearest friends it just happened can I get a witness tonight it just happened but-but-but-but to be a respecter of persons oh it's no no I want I want the I want this friend I want that friend well you may not get that friend but can I tell you not having the friend you won't stay with me now is a whole lot better than getting a call at 2:00 a.m. in the morning by a state trooper telling you that your boys have been arrested and he's gotten narcotics on him see this man the Bible said and when he came to himself that meant to me he wasn't in his right mind when he left his father's house we got to keep the right mind you make the wrong request when you have the wrong frame of mind he would have never you seen when he was in his rut when he wasn't in his right mind guess what his words were father give me father give me see when we when we don't get in the right mind let this mind let this mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus the Bible says that though he was rich became poor so that we who are poor may know the righteousness of God when God came to this earth as a man he was a giver not a taker he was giving he wasn't taking and were told by PO to let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus if that mind is in us then we are not takers we become givers and follow that now father give me you owe it to me Lord we're living in a day of entitlement aren't we we're just living we're just living in a day of of an entitlement generation and they feel entitled to this and you owe this to me and all of this no we don't we don't owe you anything no no one owes you no one owes you anything even children can grow up with an entitlement mentality and your parents see once they put you once they feed you and put you through school and and all that that's what they that's what they owed you to bring you into this world but after that you need to get after it you need to use the launching pad of your family and get after but what you mean and follow it now please when you're getting your wrong frame of mind what can I get out of church what can I get but they better they better assist partner and I saw this and she brought it to my mind I think to not coming to church but Francis Chan a minister to the thing out on social media this week in it had said someone came up and told me they did not enjoy the worship at our church Sunday he said didn't you know it wasn't for you it was for God I didn't him maybe some of the things we're not enjoying around here we're getting to think churches about us and the right frame of mind as churches and not about us churches about God Church is about giving God praise church is about how the Lord feels about Bishop McCool told years ago said he was going to church one Wednesday night said he was praying Lord give us a good service tonight Lord give us a good service tonight we've all prayed that prayer he said when the Lord spoke to him and said who served and who why don't you give me a good service you see when we got if we get a frame of mind of entitlement we get the wrong frame of mind the church owes me something somebody didn't shake my hand somebody didn't do this somebody didn't do that we're actually beginning to say I'm getting the wrong frame of mind on one side Father give me but do you know when he came to himself you know what he said to the Father the last words he said to his father was father give me but when he got back in his right mind lord I don't want the Pigpen to have to do that to me I don't want to have a hard times I don't want to have to be late I don't I don't want God to put me flat on my back so I look up I want to be like I don't want to be like believe it was joke that said the words I cried unto the Lord by reason of my affliction I don't want to have to be afflicted to cry to God I just rather cry to him tonight and tell him how much I love him and maybe walk around the altar while they're singing it and worshiping God and just tell him how I'm good I'm not sure other cry out to him when I in the good time for him to say I'm gonna have to put him flight of his back he's forgot Who I am he's not prayed to me in a few months he's got to he's got the big head he thinks he he's got a little money in the bank he's gonna eat and and make merry and all that he's just gonna he's just he just forgot all about me and God says lay him flat of his back take his job away from him do all make it hard on him make it difficult on him why because when you're laying flat on your back the only way you can look is a I don't want God to have to do that to me I want to keep a good frame of mind and my pockets are bulging out I've got good health in my body bless the Lord O my soul and all that is within me I will bless why don't you do that right now I will bless I will bless His Holy Name I will praise go ahead I love you Lord Jesus I praise you Almighty God father father give me but when he got in his right mind what was he saying father make me father make me please remember that he remembered his past privileges be thankful for your privileges because they'll always go with you he said how many servants in my father's health house have bread enough to spare and I perish he had to remember his past privileges remember he had an unclean spirit an unclean spirit is a product of an unclean mind David said in psalms chapter 51 verse number 12 david said these words restore unto me the joy of thy salvation uphold me with thy free spirit we that uphold me with thy free spirit been feeling like you're bound up I've been feeling like you're all bound up maybe it's because in your mind you've not allowed the Lord to work in your mind you can't have thoughts of bondage and have a spirit of freedom David said restoring to me the joy I want my joy back oh I want the joy of my salvation back uphold me with thy free three spirit I've dug up one other version of this I'm not a big proponent of different versions of the Bible but I did come up with this version and some it's the same as Psalms 51 12 it says restore to me I'm a testimony tonight I'm a testimony 16 years old got in the church two packs of Winston cigarettes a day at 16 years of age I was smoking two packs of cigarettes a day the devil had the same plans from me then he had for my daddy that died of cancer due to tobacco at 46 years of age the devil had the same plans for me but I got the Holy Ghost and I got me a little taste of what heaven was I didn't want to smoke but boy that was rooted in deep stained inside of me and my it wasn't stained in me I wish I could say that God gave me the Holy Ghost and I never desired it again but it didn't happen to me that way and maybe it worked out for the good because I tried pray and I'd worship God and I'd pray and I'd worship God on Sunday and I'd make it till about Tuesday and I fall off the wagon and then I go to church on Wednesday and I be condemned and I'd give me a little prayer on Wednesday and I'd I'd make it about Thursday evening then I fall off the wagon plumb Saturday I'm not all that and his kind of look like little cycle until listen to this now in my little Oh 16 year old wanting to serve God mind I timed how long it took me to smoke a cigarette and it took me about five minutes to smoke a cigarette and so I decided every time the urge hit me to smoke a cigarette I was going to pray and talk to God and can I report that within just a few days of every time the flesh the earth see it wasn't the holy ghost it was chipped he wasn't a Holy Ghost that was willing to smoke what was it my flesh your flesh doesn't want to pray your flesh wants to smoke so what I began to do was when my flesh begin to say smoke I began to flex my spiritual muscles and I began to worship God in spirit until the spiritual man became stronger than the fleshly man and I put those cigarettes behind me and never looked back and it not only will work with cigarettes it will work with an unforgiving spirit it will work with a wounded spirit it will work with all kinds of things if
