Magician REACTS to Zoe Lafleur child magician on Penn and Teller FOOL US 2019

[Music] [Applause] [Music] hello everyone my name is Jason Parker welcome back to this channel about magic today I'm reacting to Zoe Lafleur a young magician appearing on Penn & Teller's foolís I believe she'll be doing some kind of card magic by the way make sure to stay to the end of the video because I'm gonna be sharing with you a pearl of wisdom in the form of Aesop's fables now that being said let's just go ahead and jump right into the reaction I'm Zoe Lafleur I'm 12 years old I work hard in school I work hard in my sports I work hard at home last year I saw my uncle Adam Shire he performed on Penn & Teller for us my uncle was definitely a mentor or a coach to me he introduced the trick to me he showed me how to do it how to perfect it my family has watched me practice for two months and yet they still don't know how I do the trick I am aware that I would be the youngest person to fool Penn & Teller but just because other magicians are older than me doesn't mean they're better than me I can make magic just as well as they can Penn & Teller don't judge me how I look because once you watch me do my trick you'll be in for a big surprise you can give him [Applause] packages here is 12 year old magician Zoe Lafleur yeah you pronounced your name right hi hi teller I'm a huge fan of yours but I always feel so badly for you when you can't figure out the tricks but don't worry I'm here to teach you how not to get fooled by magicians would you come join me on stage please to present yourself very well for being so young now Penn & Teller before a magician starts you should demand to see the cards look at them make sure they're all different in a no special order those are all different and in no special order all right we are ready to start now Penn often a magician might say pick a card any card but don't do it magicians can secretly force you a card that they want you to choose so the only safe way to do it is if the cards are other magicians hands and either control now when I turn around Penn I just want you to take any card you want out the deck look at it remember it and don't let me see it okay not gonna make it easy to tell if she's young I want this to be totally random so can you just take a small clump of cards just from somewhere in the middle of the deck hide them under the table so I can't see them count them to yourself and remember that number all right is everyone done we're done perfect yeah your next image she might say put the card back in the deck but don't do it cuz magicians can use a sneaky pinkie trick to hold the spot of your car so the only safe way to do it is if again the cards are out of the magicians hands and out of their control I gotta say so far it seems like Penn had a completely free choice as did teller so I'm not saying anything suspicious so far yeah I'm gonna start dealing cards onto the table and whatever you want just say stop okay stop right here right there all right go ahead and put your card in I will no fingers your card is truly lost then deck but who knows maybe I was counting so can give the cards a couple of cups now tell her you still have your cards right perfect so when I look away can you just take some your cards put them on the top of deck send me your cars and put them on the bottom all right hmm again everything seems really fair all right you have any more cards all right we have now exhausted all methods a magician could use to cheat so tell her can you show me what is the number you're thinking of 10 all right it's done one two three four five six seven eight nine and this is the tenth card pen can you tell me what is your card the five of Hearts five of Hearts the five of her Wow that's pretty awesome hahaha right now I have no idea okay let me go ahead and give you my thoughts before we hear what the judges have to say or perhaps my lack of thoughts because that was pretty surprising that she got the card at the end it seemed very fair the whole time he was definitely a free selection I did notice the deck was not shuffled at the beginning and I'm not sure why she didn't do that as well maybe it was important maybe it wasn't you know I didn't have a chance to look closely enough of the cards to see if they were in a special order or not but Penn & Teller said that they were not so I'm just gonna trust them yeah and even especially the part that's getting me is at the end when teller got to choose you know to grab some cards and put some on top on some on the bottom and then she instantly counted to ten my only thought there is that maybe she has multiple outs and depending on the number they said she could have counted to it differently in different scenarios or something like this but I really don't know how exactly that would play out I wouldn't let's just some kind of guess I have so either she got really lucky and they said 10 which is exactly the position it was in it she just counted straight to it but even then I'm not sure how she would have done it because teller was able to put a different number of cards on top that she was unaware of so yeah I'm completely at a loss sorry this child has defeated my magician mind let's hear what Penn & Teller have to say so you're 12 years old yes I am and how long have you been doing magic well I actually just started last year when I really got into it my uncle Adam shire performs here in front of Penn & Teller and I was in the audience just right over there and I watched him and I was like I could do that so your uncle inspired you and I'm sure you're inspiring so many people right now is that something you were hoping to do yes it definitely is one of the goals aside for from fooling Penn & Teller I definitely want to inspire younger magicians even though they haven't seen a lot on this show doesn't mean they can't do it so yeah all right well it's time to go dependent teller and see if they figured it out okay Penn tell her ah boy was that great Zoe just so good so good tell the what started to imagine these five I started later than you did but when teller was 12 he was not using sophisticated methods like this this the method you're using we think is not a method that's out of magic it's a method is out of gambling it's really serious no kidding cards stuff you're doing here that's really really difficult and done beautifully your premise your patter of I'm gonna teach you guys how not to get fooled is beautiful perfect now we got to get to the key moment you know the key moment where we talk about sometimes in code and I used to have hair as long as yours my hair used to be as long as yours mine is naturally curly but if mine weren't naturally curly you probably know more about hair than I do I'd have to use a crimper on it is that right to get it to be nice and curly in the back or is there a curling brush or something like that I could use but you know a lot about hair your hair looks beautiful but is anything I've said to you giving you some idea of maybe we were following your sneaky self up there sneaking did you learn code in the last year too I think so so did they figure it out I think they definitely figured it out but just wait till next year I'm gonna guess so I'll go ahead and give you my concluding thoughts now first off I definitely thought she had fooled them I'm kind of surprised to hear that he mentioned crimp and that was his solution to how she did it because even if she did use a gambler's crimp to somehow control his card to maybe the top of the deck I don't understand how you know at the end teller got the choice of the packet of cards he took he could put some on top and some on the bottom and then she counted to ten it was right there so I don't see how a crimp helps in that situation he didn't explain anything about that maybe there was some part of the video cut out that we didn't get to see that would help explain this possibly or it was right in front of my face and I just can't see how she did it so yeah anyway that's all I have to speculate she totally fooled me did you see how she did it do you have any idea comment below maybe you can school me and tell me what was just so obvious that I didn't see it anyway really excellent job on her part and oh I also want to say that her presentation was amazing for a 12 year old she had such a great stage presence she's like got this confidence up to here she's just speaking clearly taking their time she didn't seem nervous at all like that was also very impressive that being said let's go ahead and jump right into story time are you ready for your little nugget of wisdom from Aesop's fables this time we're gonna do chapter 202 the aunt because I don't know I just opened it and it seemed like a good sized story again I'm gonna go over here on this side I think it's a better side with my set up here the aunt ants were once men and made their living by tilling the soil but not content with the results of their own work there were always casting longing eyes upon the crops and fruits of their neighbors which they stole whenever they got the chance and added to their own store at last their covetousness made Jupiter so angry that he changed them into ants but though their forms were changed their nature remained the same and so to this day they go about among the cornfields and gather the fruits of others labor of others labor and store them up for their own use and the moral of the story is you may punish a thief but his bent remains so what that saying is that as far as criminals are concerned we should realize that we can't change their nature they're gonna not be reformed they're gonna keep making the crimes seems kind of like a pessimistic view on life what do you think and bad people change their ways and stop being so bad stop with all the stealing with all the murdering it's that possible comment below yeah to be honest that wasn't really my favorite story I read from this book it doesn't exactly leave me feeling so philosophical but now I found that a picnic and there's ants coming to steal my food I'm probably going to remember this
